According to a YouTube post the projectile ricochet off the edge of his body amour Charlie was wearing and fragmentation went up striking him in the throat. There was obvious no exit wound.
All photos I saw show Kirk wearing a t-shirt. No armor visible or bulging underneath his t-shirt.
If he was wearing any body armor, it would indicate he felt a danger to himself. So if that was true, why was there not more security present…and an EMS vehicle near the stage?
Unless that body armor had nipples on it, Charlie wasn’t wearing any.
Soft body armor absorbs the impact of the projectile, it does not fragment. only armor plates frag and the do have a coating you can add to minimize that. He was not wearing a plate carrier.
I suspect it was a thin but strong titanium plate integrated into his under armor. The bullet struck at an angle that caused it to ricochet and reshape it broader so it’s impact was catastrophic.
if you watch any video prior to the shot, you will see him bending over for a drink. Titanium is not that bendable, even a thin sheet Also, soft body armor will not protect against a rifle round. They are generally used against pistol calibers. A .308 round was reportedly used. It’s also hard to imagine someone trying to justify a Yahoo / Facebook / Meta news report by creating new ways to justify it. Just sayin’.

I keep seeing people post that it was not a .30-06, when the Sundance-posted police affidavit clearly identifies the found rifle as a Mauser .30-06.

.308 or 30-06 really doesn’t matter. The discussion was about body armor. If I remember, initially a Remington 700 in .308 was shown. Then it morphed into a .30 caliber Mauser. It was also shown to be a
7.62×51 ( NATO round .308 ). And finally into a 30-06. Regardless of whether it was either of the two, soft body armor would not stop it. But, a caliber that large would go through soft tissue ( neck ) easily and damage something beyond the target. They should have located the bullet immediately to determine the caliber. Other injuries or damage or the location of the bullet was never reported.

Access should be secured by at least a lock. Universities have strict key custody protocols, especially for mech rooms & roofs. Lose a master key, and you could be liable for rekeying multiple areas within a facility. Some roofs, like lab roofs with exhausts, are even alarmed.

There was a petition going around her campus with thousands of signatures (as happens anytime a non-leftist tries to speak) which was to block TP from holding the event. HER students are so triggered / frightened / angered by conservative thought they don’t want to hear it all. Indeed legit questions, especially around roof security/access and the planning involved regarding event details.
My big concern remains this: WHY are security details and/or police NOT utilizing a drone to oversee security gaps from above, both before and DURING these events? After Butler….WHY? It’s not due to conspiracy…it’s due to some level of ignorance or incompetence. These outdoor events were far too easy to expose Charlie to these threats. But better security might have minimized the, or even stopped his assassin.
After Virginia Tech, I think many assume that basics like securing the campus and buildings is a given. I’ve been out of this for some time, but I doubt that code allows unsecured access to a roof. It also requires fall protection around the perimeter in certain circumstances. Assume cameras and secured access on all exits & loading docks. That includes site access.

Look at the video on a large screen, use your stop and go tools, and you can clearly see the shooter carrying a long object covered in what appears to be dark loose fabric, consistent with the official story.
