Honestly, I don’t see how any true MAGA would disagree with the sentiment. All these big omnibus bills are abominable. Obviously Musk wouldn’t turn to Demonrats to get more conservative legislators. There are bound to be some old school tea party type Rethugnicans we’d all prefer over Miss Linzy and similar RINOs. Trust Musk? Of course not. But stick to good conservative principles, like one subject bills and no pork barrel bs.
This is not an Omnibus Bill and there are certain things that you can’t do with the bill. The budget bill will be later and will have to be all of Congress, not just the Republicans. They need to educate the public on the different kind of Bills.
I will say it is frustrating watching Trump support such a massive pork barrel spending bill……I was hoping he would start putting an end to such things and balance the budget. I know he has a plan but these endless spending bills are hard to stomach. Looks like the bond market might squash this bill anyway.

We are close to $40 trillion dollars in debt and awash in waste. You bring in a guy to ferret out the waste and then want him to remain silent about waste, fraud, pork and abuse when you’re writing the check. If I’m not mistaken doesn’t failure to pass a budget bill put the entire government spending into Pres. Trump’s hands? No budget is when Obama stopped funding national parks and other federal spending that he strategically chose to piss off voters and blame the GOP. Trump could use no budget agreement to strip ALL funding of the outrageous programs DOGE exposed. The Big Beautiful Bill funds EVERY single line item that DOGE exposed and said was going to be cut. Until Congress and the courts stepped in and refused to go along with the cuts.
No Big Beautiful Bill gets around congressional and court objections. Federal funding becomes an emergency that only Pres. Trump has exclusive say about. Not reviewable by judges. He could even suspend funding the judiciary that is obstructing him.
This is Pres. Trump’s hammer. Why give it up? For the crumbs in it he wants passed? It’s like holding a royal flush and folding when all that’s up is 2, 6 and 9, different suits. Trump talks about holding the cards, Zelensky not having any. But if you have the cards and don’t play them smartly it doesn’t matter what you’re holding. No budget bill makes him “King for a Day.” Or week. Or month. Or year.

This RECONCILIATION bill is NOT a Budget! Everyone is mistaking this.
It’s main purpose is to make the current tax breaks (from President Trump’s first term) permanent. It also provides for no tax on tips and overtime as well as a temporary $4k additional tax exemption for Seniors making $75k (single) and $150k (married).
It cancels the Tax Credits for green new deal stuff.
It adds work requirements for SNAP, Medicaid.
It prevents illegals from getting any kind of benefits.
It provides for Border Security including deportations if illegals.
It does NOT fund government agencies because this is not a Budget bill.

Well that didn’t take long… hours after Elon Musk raged against the GOP’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, the White House sent Congress a request to claw back $9.4 billion in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting – the first move to codify cuts identified by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

This type of bill, a Reconciliation Bill, can only make cuts to mandatory spending like Medicaid. Most of the proposed DOGE cuts is in discretionary spending.
Even if we drastically cut spending —-it would be a teaspoon in the ocean of our debt.
The only way to get out from under this monster-sized debt is to rev up an economic engine so great that the huge revenue increase enables us to pay down the debt.
Adding to the difficulty of wrangling down our debt is that 25% of our GDP is Federal spending. If we drastically cut Federal spending BEFORE we rev the economic engine, GDP plummets and tanks the economy.

And then this Congressional Bill has little, if any, DOGE cuts in it.

The DOGE cuts will be done via Rescission bills (the first of which has already been submitted by the WH), impoundments and then finally, all cuts codified in the next budget later this year.
