What GOOD things the House version of the BIG BILL had are exactly what the RINO SENATE intends to kill.
Trump is for the BIG BILL because he wants to get whatever he can out of this Congress.
Trump is COMPROMISING.

Musk has multiple companies, and the JOBS OF THOUSANDS OF EMPLOYEES at stake in this.

But this is different, it is Musk’s ” GOOD, NEEDED EMPLOYEES” who may lose their jobs based on what the the FINAL VERSION of this SENATE bill says.

The big difference is that if this bill doesn’t pass the Trump 1.0 tax cuts expire. We all lose, and the Deep State wins.
This isn’t a budget. President Trump will send separate recession bills to codify spending cuts and he is doing a budget for next year.
One of the main reasons for this reconciliation bill is to keep his tax cuts from expiring. The bill will make his 2017 tax cuts permanent. It also delivers on his no tax on tips and overtime and I think car loan interest. Apparently it does something for seniors but to get no tax on Social Security they must do it as a separate bill.

Your understanding is correct. However the only way off the collision course we are on is to stimulate above trend economic growth for a decade or more. It is politically and practically impossible for us to cut our way to solvency. We crossed that bridge in 2001 and burned it in 2008.

Regarding DOGE cuts, the current bill, is not the normal spending bill. Called a Reconciliation Bill, it only allows cuts to mandated programs like Medicaid. Most of the DOGE proposed cuts are in discretionary spending.
The great thing about the Reconciliation Bill is it only requires 50 votes —no Dem help needed. The unelected, “bipartisan” Senate Parliamentarian rules on what can be included in a Reconciliation Bill. Apparently Senator Thune will not overrule her.
Good News? I am hearing talk about a wonderful maneuver called a Rescission Pocket which after August 18 would enable all the DOGE cuts to be done without requiring any votes —Does anyone know more detail about this particular legislative/executive maneuver?

This is year one of a four year term. There are soon to be more reconciliation type things since they can’t ever get a budget through the normal order process.
I’m ok with this BBB this time. It gets the ball moving in a big way and jump starts what I believe to be massive growth. My thinking is get the BBB done and kick start the country and then cut the crap out of the next one capitalizing on the economic growth that will be happening. Or I’m just completely out to lunch…..
Musk is no longer a Special Government Employee. He is now back focused on running his companies. So nobody should be surprised he is looking at BBB through the prism of how it impacts his companies.

The 50 Billion in cuts DOGE found doesn’t compare to the trillions in additional debt spending deficit the corrupt politicians want.
He personally lost billions to run DOGE and was the whipping boy for it as well.
He probably feels betrayed that all the savings DOGE found are not only being undone but more debt will be added in the trillions.
The bill adds an additional 150 Billion in defense alone. That’s on top of the 700-800 billion they already get.
This whole thing is madness.

Overall, Elon is better at fleecing government than anyone he identified in the DOGE gambit. IMHO, its just part of the Day at a time, that we are going through. And I think DJT will be able to use the squawking Elon to his advantage for the overall goals of the BBB and USA in the coming months.
Don’t forget Elon still has starlink and other resources that might be very helpful to DJT in the near future!

Musk did a fantastic job of exposing lots of government fraud and waste. In the meantime, much of America turned against Musk and his businesses. Knowing his exit was coming, it makes perfect sense for him and Trump to play some “political theater” which accomplishes multiple goals.
1. Musk’s businesses recover somewhat now that he has mollified the left by his “sudden and inevitable betrayal.” (Blatant Firefly quote; sue me)
2. On his way out the door Musk calls out the garbage that Trump wants to call out, but by letting Musk do it, he doesn’t burn all his bridges.
Maybe I’m wrong and this is an actual betrayal, but I agree that there’s way too much pork in this spending bill and someone should call it out.

so we are back again to the lesser of two evils argument as a reason for supporting any and all republicans? If we lived in an ideal, righteous world, the current crop of GOP would get primaried into another galaxy, but the system is so fully rigged to protect them that it’s almost impossible.
If a real MAGA gets past a RINO in the primaries, the RINO will just run as a third party to make sure the MAGA candidate doesn’t get elected. In the GOP’s mind, a democrat is better than a non-RINO republican. What does that tell you about the current bunch of republicans and what does it tell you about how things will proceed for Trump over the next year or so?
When someone figures out how to get around this multi-layered rigged system, please let the rest of us know.

Musk is Aspergers and they can have ‘meltdowns’ when overwhelmed by too much stress. It comes on suddenly and can appear irrational to others. Sometimes it consists of shouting and screaming, sometimes they go completely mtionless for extended periods of time (hours).
Often when they come out of it they do not remember a thing of what they said.
What President Trump wants/needs is to make his first term tax cuts permanent, and to get an expansion of the debt limit to carry us through the mid=terms. The Big Beautiful Bill gives him those.
Elon is not wrong that the spending in the bill is an abomination, but somebody needs to remind him about the recision process. The votes on those bills will be the ones to hold republicans accountable for.

B.S. Musk knows- as do all of us- that getting the debt under control is central to the long term survival of the country. And it’s easier to start now that later. Deep, hard cuts are required- the era of generous entitlements is over, one way or another. The country either cuts/reduces them or goes bankrupt and loses everything.
