I am not sure why everyone is still in favor of the movie script where the US emerges as a “great neutral power” and brokers a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia.
As an active participant in the war, the option that I see on the table for US is to keep on going with sending dollars, weapons and ISR to Ukraine, like US has been known and shown to be doing (remember the article describing the forward command base in Germany coordinating all Ukraine army movements). OR to stop the sending of weapons, ISR and money.
You dont need to fly to Moscow or talk to Putin to do any of those. It’s a one-sided internal US decision.

What has been coming down the grapevine from Russia has been that they firmly opposed to any ceasefire until root causes are addressed. Putin never even mentioned ceasefire for these Istanbul talks.
He mentioned resuming the negotiations that were abandoned by Ukraine in 2022.
As a recent example how successful Western ceasefires are, ask Assad how the ceasefire deal worked out for him.
When Trump and Putin would meet, then I would imagine Putin would say exactly the same thing as he has been saying publically and repeatedly for the last 3 years.

President Putin, in his talk with Tucker, went into some detail as to the TRUE history of NATO encriachement and broken promises, and President Trumps subsequent statements, clearly communicated “I hear you” loud and clear.
All those elements Sundance lists, that oppose any alliance between the two Presidents, also represent intrinsic, existrntial threats to BOTH Presidents,..hence the age old “common enemy” dynamic at play.

As I understand, WEF/EU and the pro -war hawks/neoconservatives were instigating a war between Ukraine and Russia in order to make money and keep things de stabilized for their own gain. To achieve their goals, the U.S Military has to be involved, because that will allow them to make the most money. PDJT doesn’t want this and the American people don’t want it, but many Americans had been duped into wanting a war out of sympathy of the “Putin/big Russia Bad, attacking little Ukraine” narrative.
But, since PDJT achieves peace through economic stability and mutual relationships he doesn’t want the war. He and (hopefully to some degree) Putin would rather have economic stability and mutual economically beneficial relationship and can easily achieve the same for Ukraine.
