As we saw previously in Term-1, President Trump has again divided and assigned trade negotiation responsibility to key cabinet members. In this interview with CNN National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett smiles and walks effortlessly through the narrative engineering attempt by CNN pundit Kassie Hunt.
This is a must watch interview if you are following the details of the current global trade renegotiation.
Hassett outlines the current status of trade negotiations with some of the biggest trade partners in the world. India and Southeast Asia are being handled by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is in control of the section 232 (national security) tariffs, and USTR Jamison Greer has 19 current Free Trade Agreements outlined with various partners all willing to accept the reciprocity agreement. WATCH:
.

Divide and conquer!
So Hassett’s no longer a cute little quokka? He’s got a sharp bite?
The smile he gives when he bites is disarming. She was clueless how to effectively respond.
She was clueless.
how to effectively respond.…Which is apparently a requirement in order to work for the Clueless News Network.
He’s a were-quokka. When the moon is full or the negotiations get nasty then the fur stands up and the fangs come out.
Quokkarine.
A Happy Warrior.
Hassett has a totally different style from Stephen Miller but they both get the job done
I love the way he just laughs at these buffoons.
We need to see results and so far we’re not getting them. The tariffs on China need to be reduced as they are unsustainable, Bessent said. So why are they not reduced? There is nothing wrong with asking questions, even when we love our president. THAT is common sense.
I call it the “MAGA-American System” in honor of President Donald J Trump
The New American System: Trade for Workers in the 21st Century
A speech from Robert Lighthizer, former U.S. Trade Representative, on how trade policy
https://www.theamericanconservative.com/the-new-american-system-trade-for-workers-in-the-21st-century/
“All the clever people agreed that free trade was the only sensible course. Except they were wrong and millions of working American men and women paid the price.”
Robert Lighthizer
Heck, it wasn’t even free trade.
No it wasn’t.
Kind of the way Orwell’s Freedom was Slavery.
Everything is backwards and named for its opposite in the Bizarro World.
Inflation Reduction Act?
Usual BS, from a plagiarizing inveterate liar.
Remember, this is the best the Left can do!!! Now America can see why the Dems hafta cheat to win elections!
from what I gather of its failures, I can believe he wrote it.
It’s April fools. – 47
https://rumble.com/v2wdg5q-april-fools.html
Social parasites in a Socialist country understand that ‘free’ is defined as ‘somebody else is being made to pay for it.’
And where they actually manage to impoverish the middle class to pay for their wealth, I suppose they’re entitled to think of themselves as clever. “Ruin and rot follows us wherever we go? – Ah, that’s just the sight and smell of freedom! We must fix it with more Socialism!”
Thank you! A very easy and straight forward read. Mr Lighthizer blows away much of the BS we are being fed daily by the Left, MSM and those opposed to our President. Should be mandatory reading for all Americans.
“We need to make every policy choice in this area determining first what effect it will have on our people as producers and member of families and communities.
We need a worker-focused trade policy, not a corporate/price-centered one, and we need to take every step necessary to eliminate the trade deficits that are bleeding our country to death and achieve balanced trade.
That is precisely what President Trump and I did for four years, and the results were astonishing.”
“There is a statistic called the net international investment position.
How much Americans own abroad—equity, debt, real estate, versus how much foreigners own of America.
The United States’s net international investment is an astonishing negative $16 trillion. Foreigners own $16 trillion more here than we own around the world. And there is a negative compounding.
Foreigners including China own these assets and the future income from these assets. We literally are trading the wealth of our country, the ownership of our equity, debt and property, for Christmas lights and toys, for tennis shoes and garden tools.
We are bleeding to death from self-inflicted wounds. So, do massive, consecutive trade deficits matter? Only if you care who owns and controls your country.”
Nationalize what the Chicoms own then sell it to US citizens at pennies on the dollar. The other foreign owners will then sell what they own.
Maybe we could “make a deal”.
Maybe 🤔
Hey CHI-NA…
The U.S. is willing to knock a few % points off the tariffs. In exchange, you forfeit ownership of all U S. assets you’ve acquired in the last 100 years.
I found the actual speech if anyone would prefer to listen to it rather than read it…I love to listen to thought provoking talks during my morning walk as I find the steps come easier if my mind is occupied on something interesting! This is just over an hour so that will get me pretty close to my 10,000 steps!
Gotta love those cuddly critters on his team!
Color me skeptical with some of these doubting Tina’s and Thomas’s.
Just how many times must President Trump economic philosophy and trade policy ask/answer must we endure?
Go to YouTube, put in Donald J. Trump and then watch all the videos.
Then if you need further evidence, go to your local library, (if you prefer to feel and touch and hard cover book for free) or go to any book website and search Donald J. Trump and when those titles pop up……..get ’em……….read’em……..then go to sleep and shut up!
When you can figger it out, then ask a different question from what we are constantly bludgeoned with.
Losing patience.
I agree. The media’s pretending to not understand has worn thin. Bless PDJT’s team for going out there and dealing with these losers.
They may not be pretending. I haven’t seen much evidence of any ability for deep thinking. They demonstrated, time and time again, that anything to do with economics is too complicated for them to grasp more that the most basic ideas – the kind that you’d teach a 4th grader, for instance. And probably fail.
“They may not be pretending.” Good point.
Read the comments and responses to this interview on youtube. Those angry individuals who can only describe us in really ugly language are not pretending either.
It would be good if many of the EOs being signed by POTUS are codified by Congress. Of course, that is useful only insofar as laws are regarded as having significance and place in what’s left of our Republic.
Exactly. After all, our immigration laws were codified, weren’t they, but it all depends on the control of the Congress, whom gets impeached for their misdeeds. The Constitution and our laws be damned, they say. There ought to be a law. Ha.
No, its not that they don’t understand, nor are they pretennding to not unfdrstand.
They are lookingvforva negative to Trump policies sound bite.
So that the viewer will come away with negative FEELINGS about what PDJT is doing with Tariffs and Trade….
FEELINGS
Strategy of Tension
Rusha-Rusha Eggs
Rusha-Rusha Tariffs
Rusha-Rusha Maryland
The hysteria will continue until crisis is established.
The people who want to know, dig for the information, those that are lazy watch TV! That is who the Left caters to!
My thoughts are they grill each member over and over with same questions either sincerely because they simply are not able to follow or they are waiting for someone to make an error.
I’ll take door #2, Monty.
Abigail, it’s called “cognitive warfare.” Team Trump is fighting on so many levels it boggles the mind.
https://www.hudson.org/defense-strategy/cognitive-competition-conflict-war-ontological-approach-robert-jake-bebber
I am so impressed with President Trump’s economic team.
And I especially love listening to Mr. Hassett talk to anyone at all.
Having been through the wringer once, President Trump was much better prepared to fill his cabinet with good people this term.
He and they are doing a wonderful job.
Actually, his trade team, first term were pretty good.
This ones better, but he had Navarro, and Ross, Litzhiger,.mb Munchin was the weak link?
The RINO Party people are dead! Long live MAGA Party!!!
The propaganda runs deep. CNN has noticed Hassett looks like he is SMILING while he talks. Response Long shots so the smile is a lot less obvious.. BUT they have to long shot the CNN host as well , so it’s less obvious.
I would imagine the telephoto shots (shallow depth of field) are also to help blur out the background so those convict posters are out of focus.
God forbid that some illegal’s face and name are recognizable!!!
(insert CNN pearl clutching emoji)
Seems like no matter which way the Left goes, MAGA has an answer! The Left maybe has to invest in better lenses to blur the background!
Another interviewer that refuses to consume the answers given to her talking points and then goes on to the next question without understanding the points given. If I was being interviewed, “I’d love to answer that, but I’ll wait, while you get your hair washed.” “I’ll answer that if you listen to my answer, instead of the producer talking in your ear.”
When they say, “Welcome to our program,” it given without any warmth or sincerity. It is like, “Welcome to your interrogation.” Welker, Stephanopolis and Bash are all guilty of this, among others.
Allancrain, it’s not that she doesn’t understand the points brought out in Hassett’s answer, she doesn’t care what his answer is.
The left wing media don’t ask questions to try and get an accurate answer. They ask questions trying to trip up the person being interviewed.
You’re both right.
He doesn’t care what the question is and she wouldn’t understand regardless if she cared.
Fake noose is a threat to democracy.
She’s not focused on listening to his answer.
She’s focused on listening to her handlers.
That’s why her rebuttal has to be automatically adversarial and dismissive (with the demonstrative hand gestures added for emphasis).
interrogation
Struggle Sessions
“Hogan is frustrated the media isn’t covering the tongue-lashings given by DC judges to J6ers during struggle sessions disguised as court proceedings.”

FILTHY LIBERALS
Mr Hassett is a Brain Eating Amoeba for the FILTHY LIBERALS. God Bless him.
FILTHY CCP LIBERALS own Canada.
hassett has them all tongue tied. Best to correct these narrative spreaders with in your face facts from term 1 results
Wondering if the people on this Trump-47 crew take bets every morning as to what the media’s doom/gloom talking point will be that day and at the end of their evening, as they head home, does the winner collect their winnings for the day?
Wondering, because sometimes the grins on these people, from Hassett, to Bessent, Lutnick, even the press sect. Leavitt every now and then get one of those grins on their face when a question is asked and it makes me wonder, did they just win that day’s bet?
Interesting Point of view!
Has Kassie Hunt ever washed her hair? You can spot a Liberal Woman a mile away. They have horrible grooming habits.
Maybe they’re all graduates of the Debbie Wasserman Schultz School of Hair Design.
UGG.
She might have a herpes on her head…
Hair Spray.
More likely mousse. It gives hair a greasy, limp look.
I guess economic classes are not required to get a journalism degree. Her incompetence is immense. I won’t cut her any slack because she put herself in the position to interview Hassett.
Would love it if one of Trump’s team would say to these Fake News reporters if they are that STUPID.
God bless President Trump and his ferocious wolverines!
I like listening to Mr. Hassett. I have trouble suffering through the questioner. A lying broken record is no way to go through life Kassie. She says she understands, I don’t believe her.
Would disagree with the soaring adjective…
Meanwhile in China…
BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s manufacturing activity contracted in April, an official factory survey showed on Wednesday, keeping alive calls for further stimulus as Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” package of tariffs snapped two months of recovery.
The official purchasing managers’ index (PMI) fell to 49.0 in April versus 50.5 in March, below the 50-mark separating growth from contraction, and missing a median forecast of 49.8 in a Reuters poll.
The non-manufacturing PMI, which includes services and construction, fell to 50.4 from 50.8 in March.
Hmm,…given its very common for managers to report #’s better than they actually are, those bad #’s are probably much worse in actuality.
Those who question who can hold out longer, the U.S. or Chyna, are being foolish, I.M.H.O.
Glacially slowly, and then all-at-once, or just a gradual, steady slide but Chyna is going down,…..unless they strike a deal with President Trump.
Kassie Hunt was well versed on the false narratives – increased prices, empty shelves, her lying coincides with how fast her eyes blink. Hassett is so relaxed; it stresses her out even more that she can’t make him squirm.
Pebble row in the background 🤣🤣🤣. Pics of the criminals deported.
I sent my dad this video- he thinks the explanation of who pays for tariffs is a little oversimplified, I said time will tell. 😇
It is much more complicated than the interviewer explained, more than just, we the consumer will pay it. There is also currency manipulation involved. China is going to seriously devalue their currency. Therefore, the dollar will buy more. We had no resulting inflation as a result in President Trumps first term.
complicated
Some people don’t trust the science.
It’s a complicated business.
ymmv
Kassie (Get a Clue) Hunt….
There oughta be a law…..This is a great argument for meritocracy.
Is she a cunning runt? Asking for a friend.
Ha! Nope, the other way around.
If one considers the amount of cheap foreign crap that inhabits the shelves of nearly every business in America…
A few gaps in coverage might be a good thing for the average American.
Likely not a good thing for Apollo Global Management (the stock is down 17% ytd), as they were likely invested in the very companies producing the cheap foreign crap inhabiting the shelves.
That woman isn’t qualified to speak with intelligent people. She’s of low intelligence.
She tries very hard not to look like she’s intently listening to, and ever so slightly nodding her head in acknowledgment of, the instructions being given her from
her handlers, just off camera.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett is not being interviewed by Kassie Hunt.
She’s just the pretty face that’s needed to get anyone
A N Y O N E
to watch.
yep, poor on stage performance. Novice.m
Ventriloquist’s Dummy
If it’s a pretty face they’re looking to score they need to keep looking. She’s kind of a plain Jane.
That’s why intelligent people turn to OAN and RSBN!
It bears repeating that “international trade negotiations” are secret. (As in: “classified.” As in: “TOP Secret.”) And you might kindly notice that Hassett fulfills the public demand to “know what is going on” while maintaining that secrecy.
As Trump himself points out in Art of the Deal, negotiations must remain secret while they are being made, and your counterparts must have utter confidence in your ability to maintain it.
“Huh? Something he said doesn’t make ‘perfect sense?'” Remember this aspect. You are not seeing everything. And, there is a compelling and legitimate reason why not. The public must “know,” but it must not know “everything.” At least, not yet.
It only “doesn’t make perfect sense”, because…
it doesn’t give them anything “concrete” they they can use to spin the next narrative….
Or because it touches upon a state secret.
I agree with you on that point.
I do not believe they care.
they
You may both be right.
Some may be more concerned with secrets than others.
“These people think they have a right to everything, however secret or sacred.”
–Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1815

I try not to emotionally invest myself in
political subterfugethis moment.Wolverines!!!!
This short-term ‘pain’ that she keeps talking about is actually long-term ‘pain’ that has existed since 2020. Average Americans have already figured that into their lives. Drive around on recycle days you will notice the bins are not as that full. Also, what I noticed (ground report) from the end of last summer was the amount of unsold summer crap. The cheap stuff for the kids, etc. People were not buying that crap for that price. Even crap has a certain price point. 😉
Kassie Hunt is so f+*÷=×g annoying.
What a nice change from Jared “Clueless on Economics” WhatsHisName.
Kassie is common.
In the bigger picture…. I have to shed a tear for all the MSM talking heads. Seriously, they’re given a script and go up against all of Trump’s “Little Friends” and get their ass handed to them. Night after night their rectal sphincter is stretched bigger than a basketball hoop to accommodate their head. Can the money be worth all that humiliation?
Love this guy…he rips people to shreds with the truth and a smile, but I don’t know why Trump Admin allows themselves to be interviewed on CNN or MSNBC giving these networks legitimacy.
Their ratings are horrible and anyone still watching them has to be a die hard Trump hater with full blown TDS.
Why even acknowledge them?
Bannon’s first 7 to 10 minutes of his Warroom Show gives these networks a platform as well…playing clips from these irrelevant, washed up, has beens.
What would happen if no one from the right granted CNN interviews? They would have nothing.
Giving these interviews is the only way to get the administration’s message across. The alternative is to let the media spew their lies without rebuttal. Most of these spokespersons have been chosen above others is because they are media savvy and well-spoken.
If the dollar and discount stores run low on junk from China, the thrift stores are full of it. Most is still usable. We’ll get by.
That look of pain on the CNN host’s face was her recognition that Kevin Hassett answered her questions BUT he wouldn’t let her get away with the fake narrative she wanted to get away with.
This is a war. This is a narrative war. The fake news is losing the narrative war.
Just as Sundance predicted yesterday, that in 3 months there’s going to be a narrative of supply shocks, etc.: it’s already started! She already has said, “there are empty containers, at the ports” blah blah blah…. and Hassett basically stopped her from getting away with painting that narrative.
Just as in the ABC interview with Trump, the fake news journalist tried setting the narrative that Trump is going to cause too much pain to Americans from the tariffs that they didn’t sign up for, etc. But Trump would not let him get away with that.
It’s clear Trump’s appointees are all working together to achieve the goals set for them by President Trump and We the People. They aren’t there preening for the audience, they are all working together to achieve the MAGA mission. This is a better organized Trump Administration compared with Trump’s first term. The left has no answers, they have no policies to run on, they have no message other than “we hate Trump.” The globalist elites are big mad.
No wonder the MSM is so effing bad! A total waste of human resources! DREGS!
When the members of Trump’s team stand up and effectively communicate in this case Tom Holman, Bessent and Hassett, Miller and Karoline.
They lay it out in a way which requires people to think. Those who are just not interested in thinking. Who are unable to think or find it painful. Prefer to be told what to think instead they want someone to interpret for them. I am so help me God, sick and tired of the Media industry.
I don’t want the MSM telling me what they think someone meant.
Just let me hear what they said and I’ll make up my own mind what it means.
Love my wolvie leaders!
Greatest interview ever!!
Even after Hassett made is very clear that tariffs are NOT a tax, in response to Trump’s
straightening out Bezos on that issue, she still followed up with a questions that
used tariffs as a tax as a premise.
BRAVO! This was amazing!!
This gal is way out of her league.
The more she talks, the dumber she sounds.
Ever since I read from one commenter how bad her hair looked, I can’t get past that. Besides all her other failures, the interview went badly for her. The physical appearance of an attractive woman is diminished by her mean personality. Call me shallow if you will. I wouldn’t touch her with somebody else’s ten-foot pole.
When a so called journalist (news reader) says revert back, I wonder where they learned 9th grade English? Oh my, pain & shock at Trump! He stomped on her every point. The CNN (cia) has moroons working for them.
I absolutely cannot stand interviewers who employ lilt in their speaking. Grow the eff up and speak like an educated adult you sound like a middle schooler.
There is nothing on earth like a confident, articulate, impeccably groomed geek. Have always loved this guy. And the comfy little Dad Smile as he throws the BS talking points back in the talking head’s face makes me laugh every time.
MSM are the enemy of the people, and CNN is among the MSMiest. I don’t know how these “pundits” can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning without feeling humiliation. No reflection I guess–vampires.
Thank you, Mr. Hassett, for some of my favorite video content (and I’m not a big video watcher and haven’t had a TV since the early 2000s).
