President Trump and the White House posted the following message to begin “Liberation Day.”
President Donald Trump is scheduled to end the U.S Marshal Plan for Europe, eliminating one-way tariffs eighty years after the Marshal Plan began. President Trump is now planning to institute global reciprocal tariffs, by matching all tariff and non-tariff trade barriers and restrictions. WATCH:

Donald Trump didn’t add any new tariffs on Canada, we are CUSMA exempt, but still have steel and aluminum like every other country.
But Carney’s entire campaign is based on picking a fight with Trump on the tariff issue which is why he might look distressed here.

This is a great move by Pres. Trump. Canada and the media have been all huffy and puffy over the proposed tariffs from the USA and they didn’t get them today, lol. Way to take the air out of their outrage balloon Pres. Trump. I hope the Canadian people are paying attention and turn off their anti American attitudes fomented by their lying govt. officials like Carney.

If you ear enough fat ans skimp the carbs, that’s what happens :-))
Beef is the ultimate human food. Followed by chicken eggs. Chock full of FAT SOLUBLE vitamins (which means your body can actually use them) and cholesterol! In animal form, it’s great for you!! If you’re “cholesterol numbers” suck it’s probably because you eat too many plant foods. Plants are ok in moderation, especially non starchy greens. But remember, meat is food, plants are drugs. Beef/Bison is best. Everything a human needs. If not the case, would the Plains Indians really have existed, much less been such a formidable combat force? Starches are starvation foods. They feed a lot of people poorly. They provide calories but little else and actually impede the absorption of vitamins, especially Bs.
This is why anthropologists can, when digging through many layers of habitation, can immediately identify when a culture switched from Hunter Gatherer/Pastoralist to farming (primarily starches). The people (in geological terms) overnight lose several inches in height and have easily identified nutritional deficiencies. Other than height, most notable are the changes in jaw shape/strength and condition of teeth.
Cholesterol is actually good for you
It stimulates and enables brain function. Cholesterol paranoia was created to sell statins. Being sedentary amd overweight with a big gut is what leads to heart disease, not body chemistry like cholesterol.

This so good about the new tarriffs imposed. It’s past time to do this. But guys look at the Dow& Nasdaq futures- they are way down bigtime tonight. We’ll see what happens tomorrow?

People who invest in America *last* will suffer a moment of regret. But in the long run this correction to America first is long overdue.

Don’t cry for them Argentina.

The market goes up and down. It is its nature.
Correction needed.
Get it over early like President Reagan did.
Don’t pay any attention to the day to day movement in the market. Right now you have Wall Street and institutional investors throwing a hissy fit. They’ll get over it. Keep dollar cost averaging and stay the course. So many people make dumb investing decisions based on emotion (ie. moving into cash). That’s always a bad idea. Look at the historical chart for the S&P, and you’ll see that these movements are nothing but a blip over the long-term.

“Well, the announcement today is the most significant action on global trade policy that has taken place in our lifetimes. It’s not even a close call. The Senate just voted 51-48 to repeal President Trump’s tariff on Canada, but it means absolutely nothing because the House won’t take it up.
Senators Susan Collins, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, and Rand Paul joined the Democrats to make it pass.
Why do Republicans do this and then act surprised when voters lose motivation to keep them in power? We elected the president to implement the tariffs, and we are highly pleased so far.
7:57 PM · Apr 2, 2025
Why do they do this? Just like obedient dogs do with their owners, these Senators answer to theirs. It’s that simple.
senators are surprisingly affordable.
The Usual Suspects….once again.
rand paul kinda gets me but the other 3 are rinos to the core.why did they even have a vote.god i wish trump could just spay and neuter both the house and senate.
why? he’s got the goods on everyone of ’em
they’re on somebody’s list, just not Epstein’s…except Rand…I think the guy who broke his ribs is in jail….lol
Rand Paul . . . that apple fell pretty far from the tree!
There’s a fine line between a principled man and an attention whore. Paul seems to have crossed over to the latter.
Niagara Frontier,
Good point about Rand Paul.
If MAGA / America Firsters will look real close, senator Paul teaches them a good lesson about true, blue RINOs, aka globalists / communists.
Here is the lesson:
A true, blue RINO will pick one “high visibility target” that MAGA / America Firsters care deeply about ….. BUT …… has zero impact on globalist / communist one-world-order marching orders …… the true, blue RINOs will then work day and night to become the champion in the media attacking that “high visibility target” building up a reputation as a senator that can be trusted by MAGA / America Firsters.
In Paul’s case, that “high visibility target” is Anthony Stephen Fauci.
While he has the MAGA / America Firsters cheering him on for his fighting spirit against the evil fauci, he is hoping that they will overlook his true anti-MAGA / America First agenda items …… like Not endorsing President Trump against Biden in the 2024 election until the very last minute (on 9/10/24, he still hadn’t endorsed President Trump) & voting this week to derail President Trump’s tariffs on the big Tariff announcement day.
The old adage applies to Paul: Fool me once, shame on you …. fool me twice, shame on me.
______________________
ps The MAGA / America Firsters in Kentucky have two globalist, communist senators in the US Senate. Paul and the turtle, Mitch McConnell. They have to get the MAGA primary candidates lined up for their next election.

voter fraud on both sides of the aisle don’t yah know!
Yeah, we know.
How often does Rand Paul do something stupid like this? Too many times.
Paul is dead to me
I’ll never understand why people ever thought Rand Paul was one of the quote good guys un quote. He’s the Roosterhead of the Senate. Tough talk, and it’s all BS.
All he had to do in PDJT’s first term was stand up and move to recess. It only takes one, and he didn’t do it. That alone should have been a sufficient measure of his character. None of the R Senators did. A pox on all their houses
They’re not on Epstein’s list?
Means nothing. The President will never sign and it probably wouldn’t make it through the house.
I’ve been in the computer software industry all of my life, and I’ve never been afraid that “a computer will replace me.” Because, I know better.
Programmers love to build “tools to make tools,” because they are an intrinsically lazy sort. 😉 This new class of algorithms has great promise, but currently they are too hardware-intensive. (However, the Chinese recently created a very exciting new optimization, and freely published it as open source!) This is how such things will naturally develop.
In my wildest, I never dreamed that computer technology would advance this far, this fast, and yet remain utterly affordable. However, I’m not getting off this wild ride anytime soon. What began as my hobby, and became my profession, continues to surprise and to excite me.
And here’s the best part: I can actually do things, and facilitate things, that are immediately valuable to real people who (were) facing real problems. How cool is that?
well said. Packed with a lot of food for thought
1 – President Trump officially owns this now. If this doesn’t work, his administration – and his hardcore supporters – will be solely to blame.
2 – The worst part about this – American products will be bought less overseas. They stop buying our stuff, companies stop employing our people. The real value of real assets becomes worthless. It’s not inflationary… it’s actually deflationary on the pretense that the country will be thrown into an exporting recession.
Ole “Bend Over” is back.

Reality check: “Tariffs” have been around literally forever. One of the very first Acts passed by the newly-composed Congress was a Tariff act, which was promptly signed by President Washington. Every nation imposes “import taxes” for various reasons.
What’s very distinct about the USA has been that we have been paying tariffs to many countries, without collecting tariffs ourselves. In this way, we have effectively been subsidizing the domestic industries of other nations at the expense of (indeed: the decimation of) our own. We’ve been the biggest sucker in the room.

@DefiyantlyFree
I am dumbfounded by the panic over tariffs.
The previous administration printed 40% of the dollars that are currently circulating in America. Do you know what happens when you print that much money and you throw it into the economy? Well you get insane inflation. Inflation that reverberates throughout the entire economy and affects every single American citizen.
President Trump is telling you he has a strategy and that strategy is extremely effective because it will allow us to have a global reset, where we are no longer being taken advantage of on the world stage and we are forcing countries to pay a reciprocal tariff. That means that we are no longer going to be footing the bill for the manufacturing in other countries, and instead we will be incentivizing firms and companies to manufacture here.

Well, that and looney media. But the problem with the looney media is that some people, especially older people who just don’t really do social media don’t hear anything except this insane narrative that Trump is about to crash the economy when he’s actually going to do the exact opposite. Unless Republicans don’t get their heads out of their butts.

Not just the looney media.
It’s the economist side of the right, Ben Shapiro for example has been having mild panic attacks about tariffs for weeks.
It’s a typical attitude amongst high dollar investors. They don’t like change. Just keep everything trending in the right direction.
When in reality there is no escaping the economic nightmare that the Biden regime unleashed.
The market MUST correct.
·
ANYTHING that causes Ben Shapiro to have a panic attack just means that it is absolutely the right decision, IMHO! He had so much promise as a young man, before his terminal arrogance and sniveling superiority complex took over and destroyed his once bright future!
When I saw Mr. Shapiro make his statement about his disinterest in investigating the JFK assassination, he brought up the McKinley assassination, like that was a really long time ago also and he has no interest in looking into that, either. The mere passage of time, Mr. Shapiro, is not persuasive as a reason to not pursue an investigation! Such an insult to the intelligence of people but maybe the people who listen to Mr. Shapiro and watch him are not too bright!
we have WAY too many people ’employed’ in the “financial industry”. Thousands of ‘funds”, options, tax scams, advisors (because of the unnecessary and calculated complexity. Many are very smart people, whose work/effort/machinations add nothing to society, and likely deplete our welbeing.

As the old adage goes – in theory, theory and practice are the same, however, in practice they can sometimes be far apart.
Got a rare chance to read the entire comment thread. A couple of pages back there was a kerfuffle about car prices.
Listened to a Ruthless podcast today where they made the point that right now, practically no one in the middle class can afford a new car or is even thinking about it much – so, practically no one in that group will notice much if the prices go up.
We will, however, notice immediately when the prices go down.
There was also a mention that PDJT is talking about no interest on loans for cars made in the USA.
That little tidbit is really a big one. It should not be ignored.
However: when “a car” might easily cost $80,000(!) or more(!!), Houston, we have a(nother) problem …
My eighteen year old Japanese car is going fine. Only ever had to replace fluids, filters, tires, and brake parts. I paid $10k for it, used (overpriced at the time.)
I’m not sure what my point is in context, but to me it’s an interesting piece of data.
My 1996 Nissan Sentra is running great. Inherited it from my Dad 5 1/2 years ago with 67,000 miles on it and a dent in the door. Book value $350.00. ‘People’ told me it was useless and offered to take it off my hands. It did run a little rough, but a tune-up, regular oil changes, and it’s now up to 117,000 miles and purring. ‘People’ said I was nuts to fix the dent ‘waste of money’. It’s awfully comfortable and great mileage. It sits in the garage next to the 1995 Land Rover Stick Shift Discovery which is on its second engine and needs some rust spots addressed. Aside from the inevitable Land Rover electrical issues (it was bought new and over 60,000 miles with regular maintenance at the dealership before we could get all lights working at the same time; oh and the electric seat only works if the door is open …) — we understand Return on Investment. Let people sneer — we are happy. And in the black.
I think that your point is;
I’m also not spending 80,000 on a new piece of crap.
A car won’t cost any more than the amount buyers are willing to pay for it.
I thought it was for deducting interest on your tax return for cars made in the USA?
When people are wrong, others either ignore them or belittle them. Think: “Flat Earthers.”
When people are right, or right to suspect, others attack and sow fear. Think “C19/redefinition of vaccine/mRNA gene therapy treatment.”
What is the most consistent reaction to tariffs?
The old “flak=over the target” meme.
The others do not want our problems to be fixed. #1 it restores the middle class and #2 shows the rest of the world how to fix their problems too.

US Senate passes a bill 51-48 to end Trump’s tariffs on Canada.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, was among four Republicans who teamed up with Senate Democrats to pass legislation that would terminate new tariffs on Canada.
Sadly, no one takes the Senate seriously anymore, because of empty gestures just such as this. They need to stay in their lane, holding empty hearings where they rant and chastise before heading off to lunch to chuckle about it together over shrimp salads. 😉

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. (Rand Paul) You’ll get over it.
Anyone who has traveled around the US at all has seen for themselves the towns with shuttered main streets, broken down buildings, roads riddled with pot holes, families being torn apart as anyone who can’t find one of the few jobs left in town moves away, and many of those who stay turning to drugs/drug dealing. This is the scourge that our government has gifted us in many areas of the US, after decades of subsidizing the world, especially Europe, and leaving scraps for the American people. Clinton signed NAFTA which started the “giant sucking sound” of manufacturing being shipped overseas and has led to a country full of ghost towns.
Thank God for President Trump exiting us from the Marshall Plan, a completely outdated plan that today has become an excuse for our “allies” to fleece our country, while we get virtually nothing in return. It is decades overdue. We owe these countries nothing. It’s high time for them to get off the US teat, start paying their own bills, and stop ripping us off with their grossly unfair trade arrangements.
It’s high time that jobs are brought back to the American people.
A long long time ago when I was a young economics student I took the same courses in ‘free trade’ theory as everyone else and then asked the obvious questions: why do we call it ‘free trade’ when it isn’t ? Why isn’t anyone calling it for what it is ? I never understood that – never. It was obvious I was not meant to be an economist. The actual tariffs were a closely guarded secret and a phenomenal percentage of ‘educated’ people fell for the illusion. It’s hard to believe that after all this time the veil is actually lifted.

Anyone running against him we can donate to yet?
Not ’til 2028…
Happy for the tariffs – PDJT was too soft though, as tariffs should have been raised to be one-for-one IMHO. I’ve yet to hear anyone explain why its good for U.S. produced cars to be tariffed 4X into the EU what the American tariff is. Walmart is doing the right thing – forcing their offshore suppliers to absord the tariff. To bad for the U.S. multinationals that offshored production all over the globe to arbitrage for ever higher profits at the expense of America.
It is very puzzling to me, too. Has the administration given any explanation why they didn’t go quid pro quo?

A tidbit of video game financial news that I found fascinating because of the overarching tariff discussion. Nintendo announced a new console yesterday—Switch 2. Japan will be getting a low-priced version of the console due to the weaker currency. Everyone else, US included, will be charged about $100 USD more for the same console. To me, this signals that big Japanese companies like Nintendo anticipate that 1) the tariffs are here to stay, 2) domestic currency will be weak against the USD as Sundance predicted, and 3) Japanese companies overall are moving to a more protectionist stance of their own economy.
The free market hates competition.
