The atomic sledgehammer that President Trump just delivered to the German auto industry simply cannot be overemphasized. A 25% tariff on imported cars and car parts completely negates hundreds of billions in pre-positioned investment dollars by German auto companies in Mexico. [Executive Order Here]
To give scale to the impact on Germany, consider that German automakers currently have 330 automotive suppliers in Mexico according to information from VDA. Audi (a subsidiary of Volkswagen) has no U.S. production sites; every Audi sold in America will be subject to a 25% tariff. The Audi brand access to the U.S. market was/is 100% dependent on Mexico, including for manufacturing the Q5 SUV, its top-selling U.S. model.
According to prior reporting from Politico, “Volkswagen’s most popular model for American consumers is the Tiguan, an SUV that is entirely manufactured in Mexico. The German automaker sold over 30,000 of the vehicles in the final quarter of last year, a nearly 50 percent year-over-year increase.” But wait, it gets worse….
French-Italian-American automaker Stellantis is the most exposed of Europe’s automakers as it makes Jeep and RAM models in Mexico.
The tariffs will make European automakers’ Mexican factories completely redundant. They could make them in Germany for the same tariff impact. Making them in Mexico is now useless. They were only being made/assembled in Mexico to gain access to the U.S. market without tariffs.
This reality will push all EU automakers to shift production to the U.S. There could also be an explosion in UAW membership depending on where in the USA the EU car companies end up manufacturing.
The auto industry is only one industry, but it is a huge economic driver for multiple countries, especially those countries who depend on access to the U.S. market in order to sell their cars and trucks.
German automakers will need three things, quickly: (1) Subsidies from German govt to help offset the impact of tariffs [Short term 2-5 years]. (2) Shift production of autos for U.S market into USA [Make in USA]. (3) Interim access to new markets to help offset the anticipated drop in demand [think Russia without sanctions]. Each of these facets plays into current geopolitics.
That’s mainly just the German impact. Then overlay Canada and Mexico (big impact), along with South Korea and Japan (lesser impact due to pre-positioned manufacturing/assembly in the USA). The auto-tariffs carry a huge economic outcome around the globe.
[Source]
Europe – “European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen responded quickly to a decision by United States President Donald Trump to slap a 25 percent tariff on auto imports.
The tariffs, which Trump said will take effect April 3, are a heavy blow for the European car industry and represent the largest escalation yet in Trump’s multi-fronted trade war, which is expected to have severe global economic consequences.
“I deeply regret the US decision to impose tariffs on European automotive exports,” von der Leyen said in a statement released late Wednesday evening. “Tariffs are taxes — bad for businesses [and] worse for consumers equally in the US and the European Union.”
She said Europe would assess the tariffs, and anticipated that further measures would arrive from the White House in the coming days. Trump has stepped back from implementing tariffs on America’s allies and adversaries several times since his Jan. 20 inauguration.
“We’re signing today,” Trump said of the protectionist tariffs. “It goes into effect April 2. We start collecting on April 3.”
While von der Leyen’s language was guarded, she left little doubt that the EU is prepared to retaliate.
“The EU will continue to seek negotiated solutions, while safeguarding its economic interests,” she said. “As a major trading power and a strong community of 27 Member States, we will jointly protect our workers, businesses and consumers across our European Union.” (More)

With 330 auto plants in Mexico, why are Mexicans staying in the USA to work drywall and roofing, housekeeping jobs?
Are Mexicans actually working in these German factories?
Perhaps many of those being transported in by Biden and being housed in $200 per night hotels were NOT working.
I think most Mexicans were already here and he had to open the the border to everyone else.

Always with the Merkle. It is as though she took control after the Berlin Wall fell and never let go.
A happy Commie, just the right Hegelian Dialectic to fight off those angry Fascists.
She/Merkel was a huge error in opposition to the individual freedom & opportunities of post “communist” Cold War. Went All asunder with kinder gentler tyranny of those crazy fascists in EU.
The reincarnation of a previous Fuhrer sits at the head of the Bundestag, having promised during the recent election that he would absolutely, positively, without a doubt stop importing the Third World.
It wasn’t two seconds after Merz claimed victory that he bald faced lied and said that actually he didn’t promise that.
Somewhere on the internet there are receipts.
So now as the EU/NATO “Coalition of the Willing” prepares for war with Russia whilst their lunatic Green cultism has decimated the once powerful German industrial behemoth, President Trump is getting a “Twofer”.
Make Germany pay for their unfair tariff policy against the US…and at the same time, deplete their already declining coffers making it harder to ramp up the necessary military spending Germany will need to enact their vanity war project.
That’s how a genius President multi tasks and operates.
Thus endeth this lesson, courtesy of President Donald John Trump.
An excellent article on the new Fuhrer below.

He wears his Furher Stache on his head.
Totally impenetrable disguise.
Suits him.
Multiculturalism will always fail. Immigrants need to learn the language, integrate into the culture, and go through a serious process to become citizens. It’s the only way to have a multiethnic country succeed.
The Bell Curve demonstrates that not all could comply even if they wished to.
Some fish don’t belong in the same aquarium.
I certainly learned that lesson the hard way with my community aquarium of mostly Australian rainbows when i made the mistake to add a beautiful timid looking cichlid who was actually a devil.
My lesson in that regard was, much more expensive, and quite existential.
They won’t. It’s a disaster, everytime, everywhere.
Multiculturalism is like mixing all the paints into a messy glob.
You then lose the beauty of the diversity you sought.
Diversity is not a strength, it’s a recipe for the Tower of Babel. And that dog don’t hunt.
(sorry to mic metaphors,)
Funny how things that happened and are well described 1000’s of years ago continue to happen even in our modern age….. it’s as if we never learned squat.
Japan is really diverse yes ? Let’s invite all the leftists to answer that.
Germans are paying Mexican factory workers even less??
As I recall, china was in the final stage of completing 3 huge auto plants in Mexico…~$6.3B. They ..backburnered… because of tariffs…..
I can tell you that Mexican engineers don’t have the same culture as American engineers. Holding to standards, attention to detail, and accountability aren’t the same in Mexico.
Work for an Ag manufacturer in Iowa. They are getting better down there, but they still have a loooooong way to go before they’re half as effective and detailed as their American counterparts. Their manufacturing prowess is still years behind America in almost every facet of a product life cycle. Painting and welding are challenges. Good luck with achieving good, repeatable quality on vehicle wire harnesses and components. The engineers from Mexico who now live here and have learned here are just as capable as American born educated and trained engineers.
However their auto build quality is good, as long as supervision and quality control are vigilant.
Your right. Mexico in reality is much better. Healthcare in Mexico cures what ails! I know from 20 plus years of real life experience. De Nada..
“You’re ” right -pleeeeeze. You’re ….. your…. different
Those plants are most likely automated to a significant degree and overseen by a small number of German managers and engineers. They probably do not employ any significant number of Mexican workers, no matter how skilled.
by law, mexicans are able to only purchase vehicles manufactured in mx
vw and ford vehicles the most prominent of the vehicles you’ll find on the roads
and because of their austerity program, you will also not see any luxury cars with mx license plates (bmw, benzos, etc)
after all, can’t look rich
if you do happen to come across a newer luxury vehicle sporting mx plates, advisable to steer clear, as that person is well ‘connected’ and either a powerful political figure or carttel jefe
lived there, done that
How many in the US were actually working?
We’ll be glad to see them leave, when Trump bans “free” health care along with housing and bans remittances
You should go outside! Travel! See the world…..of course!!!
Because they make more here doing way less technical work.
FOR THE FREEBIES!!!
MiltonFriedman, famous economist, said something to the effect of: You cannot have a free market economy and welfare at the same time.
Move the borders, encompass the Maquilladoras, then the factories are in America again.
<Move the borders…then the factories are in America again.>
Borderline…
Feels like I’m going to lose my mind…
You just keep on pushing my cars over the borderline 🙂
I never dreamed you would quote Madonna. LOL
It certainly becomes in Mexico’s interests to get a good relationship with Trump established … and fast.
If they can’t rein in the Cartels, we’ll have to take territory to purge anyway.
A fifth mile deep economic opportunity zone where are cartel activity is destroyed before it gets near our first big beautiful wall.
Most Mexicans would agree with this approach; however, most of those who would agree with that approach are not in their government.
It wouldn’t be a request.
Fifty mile.
Auto Smell Stinks.
Except drug and human trafficking cartels run the place.
Not of we take what we need and clean it up.
Every third party factory down there is an economic weapon of war, entirely appropriate and needful to seize them.
A wide buffer zone purged of the Cartels would make it safe, and any assaults upon it would be credited to the Sandian Regime and the border would move another five miles South.
Declare the factories American territories.
Exactly.
Every country looking at their now worthless factories in Mexico would cheer such a move.
The brainwashing is deep there.
Also, their elections aren’t free either.
AfD is their only hope, and they cheat it out always.
Actually, elections in Germany aren’t run any worse than your typical red State in the US. Also we get 98%+ of the results in just a few hours. Not much time for massive fraud in Germany. I mean even states like CA or AZ, that have advanced voter fraud infrastructure, need days or even weeks to pull it off.
But yeah, unlike the US population, which is awake, Germany’s is much more brainwashed.
Also keep in mind the parliamentary system where you have lots of parties, most of them leftist, and some fake conservative or centrist, but usually just one true conservative party. People are confused of course. I mean look at the BSW, founded by a former member of the hard Left party, which identifies itself as a populist leftist party. The moment it was created AfD lost some support to these grifters, because of the populism. The so called conservative CDU also ran on a somewhat populist platform to syphon away some votes from AfD, but after the election they broke every promise and allied themselves with the SPD, the very party responsible for the collapse of the government, even though CDU ran on change. Something similar happened in Austria and France.
Its not that the elections aren’t free and fair – its that they are meaningless. This Mertz guy cut a deal with the losers to borrow more money than Germany has ever borrowed – altering the constitution to do so. He did this because the incoming parliament would never do so – the freely and fairly elected representatives of Germany were chosen specifically for this reason – and Mertz just ignored it all.
East Germany is AfD – they will begin talking about leaving – and Russia will be involved. Bad times ahead? Maybe horrible beyond belief times ahead.
You’re correct. And I’m afraid that Merz/CDU will do anything now not to have snap elections again. So they will probably align with the left on everything, from social programs, to flooding the country with muslim savages from ME and Africa, and even to banning AfD, because that party is a thorn in the side of CDU, although on paper they should be alligned.
Socialism is engrained in the German psyche. It seems that as long as socialism is GLOBAL, it is ok for them. They do love their 6 week vacations, though have not realized, nor will admit, that American taxpayers subsidize their benefit.
So is love for the natural world (think hiking in the bergs, biergartens, Berlin Zoological Garten etc..), which causes some of them to be susceptible to the ‘Green’ agenda.
Also, from personal experience, they are not aware of the irony of their castigating me, for example, for expressing support for President Trump.
They can’t handle nationalist ideology by any other nation, because they blew it so badly.
The whole lot of these countries have always been parasites on the American economy. I have zero love or sympathy for any of them. In particular I loath the British. We fought to get free from Britain. They’ve invaded us and burned our capital. British have used our ill founded compassion for them to drag us into two world wars. Germany has been our opponent in two of them. I’d be very happy to conduct all business with them on a beneficial to us basis. Not beneficial to American empire globalism elite but actual American citizens.
Our troubles with Snowdians and Sandians tie directly back to the British.
Topple the Crown
Free the World
I agree with your sentiment, Maquis.
It would free you too, n’est-ce pas?
Britain and all Europe could then reverse the monster flows and restore their heritage.
We just have to recognize who is waging this war upon our world, and act accordingly.
💀🙏💀
Ouch.
In the same way that you distinguish between American citizens and American globalist elites,
an equal distinction holds true between U.K. and EU citizens and our globalist puppet governments.
Perhaps you could more delicately express yourself, about who you loathe, with a less broad brush?
Thoughtfulness makes for good relationships; the opposite, not so much.
With love and prayers from a U.K. prole.
Yes, the distinction for both countries is critical.
I don’t suppose your government would look kindly on this forum considering cycling and bird watching forums have closed under the liability of prosecution.

I have no antipathy to right leaning ethnic English, Welsh, Scotts, or even the Irish. But I have no love of your government, and as it continues to become autocratic and Marxist there is less cultural and political affinity between our nations. With that comes a reduced commitment in alliances or economic agreements, and no amount of screaming about how some little man with imperial plans be it French, German, or Russian could come to power should we withdraw is going to prevent that. In fact, I think that little man is in Kiev right now. Good luck, god speed, take back your country so it is uniquely English, Welsh, Scott, and when you are done maybe take pity on the Irish.
There’s several countries on that ill-founded compassion list.
I don’t think these plants are parasites as parasites invade a host body in spite of the will of the host that they were gone and vanquished. These factories in Mexico, Canada and Vietnam are there with the full knowledge and acceptance by the US host in the person of the US government.
no wonder why the Corrupt Countries hate Trump! 🙂
… the msm is going bonkers! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I love it!
OUR country is going to be so RICH!
Go Trump Go
They are subdued by GUILT over the Holocaust. Just like the GUILT we are supposed to be crippled by about slavery here in the U.S. PsyOps.
Damned Straight.
Anything not Left of Marx is literally Hitler.
Yup. That is being pushed there like white “settler” guilt is pushed here. As long as people won’t put things in context they will disappear their cultures.
Not so subdued by guilt over the Holocaust that they demand their government stop FUNDING NAZIS!
Ever wonder who sold those slaves to come here?
They were mostly sold by their African tribal enemies. Muslims also ran a huge trade in European slaves, especially light-skinned women.
It’s a terribly sordid historical mess.
Trump will be out in 3.5 years. It can take much longer to build a factory.
I imagine automakers will just run out the clock here.
3 years and 10 months
The Germans have been duped by their “leaders” just like the rest of the West.
C’mon man, the devil doesn’t exist.
The devil is in the details!
How long before we hear from Germany that they are fully in support of the proposed peace arrangement between Russia and Ukraine which of course will have had no influence on the United States agreeing bilaterally to a accord with Germany to mitigate the effect of the tariffs?
Maybe a week.
Sometime between now and April fools day would be wise on their part.
The cartel parties of Germany make a literal communist and alleged Stasi collaborator the Senior President of the Bundestag

Merkel was no better.
Merkel was awful . Hillary said Merkel is one of her hero’s lol.
Now if we can get US automakers to make affordable cars and trucks…..
They used to be affordable.. Before the government started mandating everything that goes into building them.
👍
Very interested in the new EPA’s policies against the Climate Cartel, especially against California’s CARB EV mandates. The ability of the OE’s to build a car that can be sold in all 50-states will greatly reduce costs.
Bingo… the affordable problem is from mandates AND the expense factor when consumers need to repair. Repairing cars with mandates is a constant tax on consumers. IE… tire monitors and mandated smog control equipment. Insurance rates are rising because of mandates and repairs needed to vehicles in an accident. There needs to be an immediate stop on export on used vehicles and salvage vehicles to the third world. When those vehicles leave, affordable used parts leave and affordable used cars leave. A large tariff imposed if used cars and parts are being exported. I’m in parts, repairs, sales and export of vehicles however, we need pain fix our multitude of problems.
These caravans of a three cars hooked together rumble through Texas on their way to Central & South America every day. These buyers overpay for these cars at auctions, thereby driving up the cost of the few used parts that remain in local salvage yards.

Our CARB Overlords

“People rightly complain about the federal government regulating – which is to say, controlling – practically everything. Well, how about California – as regards the cars you’re allowed to buy?
There is this thing called the California Air Resources Board (CARB) which operates as a de facto Congress – for the entire country – as regards the cars we’re allowed to buy (and the electric care we’re being forced to buy) because the regulations it emits regarding which cars may (and may not be) be sold in the state effectively apply to every other state….”
Ahhh, 0Bama’s cash for clunkers makes more sense now.
🤣 🤣 🤣 0Bama
🤣 🤣 🤣 Hillary
🤣 🤣 🤣 Joey
The fine print destined those autos for destruction, removing millions of spare parts from being recycled to keep existing autos going.
I want Kei cars here!
Note that every economy car line “disappeared “during the Plandemic.
They wanted us in EVs, walking in gulags, or in the ground.
They never thought we’d win.
You may rethink the Kei car when driving on major freeways when surrounded by much larger vehicles.
I’ve done it, and I loved it.
I recall being passed by a Geo Metro on the freeway and being stunned by how small it looked.
Then remembered I was driving one that very moment myself!
😁
Besides, who wants a car whose battery can be remote exploded by unsavory actors?
That’s when a D-9 really shines. But for just running errands around a small town, a small, simple, inexpensive car is just fine.
D-9 is not practical for covering long distances.
Some people might frown on it’s size, but you can always make your own parking lot.
“Cash for Clunkers” created a dearth of affordable used cars. I gave my son a 2005 Chevy Silverado with 300,000 miles on it. He now has over 400,000 miles on it. Yes, we have sunk some money into it, but nothing like having a $1,500/month truck payment for a new $60,000 pickup truck.
Before I sent this, I did go to a Chevy site. They are offering up to $15,000 in discounts and rebates for a new truck, so there’s that.
Chevy had a great v8 till they added the DOD displacement on demand garbage (for reduced emissions) that turns off 4 cylinders on the highway via collapsing specially designed lifters using oil pressure. Total garbage planned obsolescence. Started around 2006…. you got a good one keep it and drive it till the wheels fall off.
Don’t take the bait
Cash for clunkers killed used car affordability. You could find a decent transportation for 2500$, before cash for clunkers. 7000$ is the new 2500$
Who is going to fund Europe’s war against Russia now ?
Yep, everything is connected. 😉
If you don’t believe Pres Trump had this in mind, think again. He has stated a start and then backed off on tariffs as he sees the winds blowing in the right directions. That is to say MAGA is gaining and every other country is losing.
This is the case with EU’s ability to continue the war effort.
God Bless MAGA VSGPDJT!
During his previous administration a former friend always railed against our President. He was a union member. I could tell he was just spouting union talking points. I countered with “President Trump has done more to support union workers than any President in History!” He acknowledged this was true but still could not support VSGPDJT! It’s maddening. He still calls him Don the Con. The brainwashing runs so deep with a large part of our population.
Will Judge Boasberg be assigned to a lawsuit that says tariffs are unconstitutional? Or a different lawsuit which means tariffs have to be stopped in some way?
The Left has Cloward-Pivened our nation into the position the strategy was intended to.
Cloward-Piven is an economic weapon to collapse a state via overspending.
It does not mean anything near your use of it here.
I know what it means and maybe didn’t explain my position enough. Having imported 20 million illegals in the last four years, each using the FINANCIAL resources of our nation through housing, schools, meals, travel and legal expenses all provided by the government, it has brought many other things to the brink of destruction. FEMA funds were used for illegals and then Americans given $700 after losing EVERYTHING to disasters. Yes – it applies here. The courts are being used to ensure this continues. The lawfare aspect is a tool used to continue the financial drain.
It means overwhelming all systems to the point of collapse. Economic is just one aspect.
Isn’t $37T debt near the point of collapse?
I think we are being closer on agreement here.
It remains my prayer that PDJT has a plan to restructure our debt, repudiating the trillions that came from the ether and disappeared into unknown or enemy coffers.
Most of that debt is illegitimate, and is, as you well note, a weapon of war against us; repudiating such will only harm the enemies that fraudulently and maliciously indebted us who expect all that we have and are to fall into their hands as they’ve long designed.
WAR.
The same way we tolerated it here.
Does this mean Chinese car companies can import into the USA with only a 25% tariff? If so, Detroit is out of business completely. A nice China made EV could easily be brought here and sell for under $10,000. Add $2,500 and what young family wouldn’t like to pay $12,500 for the family car that doesn’t create CO2 (if you care, which I don’t, but I digress), and costs far less to operate?
You are forgetting that the cars and trucks must comply with US safety standards. You can get that Chinese EV for $10,000 in Asia but it can’t be sold here.
EV!?!
Just read a report that less than 1% of conservatives drive an EV, while over 6% of leftists do.
Could. Not. Care. Less.
Perfect illustration of why going after Tesla cars is another brilliant leftist move–eating their own.
Struggle Sessions are Forever.
New definitions of purity will rise daily.
Fealty must be proven in the most abjectly contradictory ways.
China auto tariffs remain at 100 percent.
Texas is going to do very well soon. Tesla has already relocated there.
Our Tahoe is made there as well, and has been generally solid over quite a few years now.
Toyota’s Tundra and Sequoia are all built in San Antonio, Texas.
Hopefully, the “Green” requirements on automobiles will be reversed, and Toyota can correct their Tundra back to a previous iteration as the current V-6 (Max size) is comparable to the Tacoma from just five years ago…
Good! Good! (Evil laughter) This teaches the Europeans that America willl not subsidize European’s failed socialist policies and thereby canceling the one month to 3 month vacations Europeans take every year because someone else mainly the USA is paying for the Europeans to just enjoy life without paying for it themselves. Now the DemonRats will not be able to point to Europe and Canada and say that how nice their socialist policies are and that the U.S. needs to follow Europe. Nope Europe’s policies are failed policies and the U.S. was just propping up Europe, the UK, and Canada. Europe, Canada, the UK, and China will now have to actually find jobs for their own populations and not sponge off the U.S. taxpayers. If those countries have too many people then I suggest they speak to Bill Gates he has a magic cure for population control that can be administered via injection and also via an agency called planned parenthood. I think Gates is giving it out the injection for free if anyone wants it.
There is a Hammer for that.
Way past due response, but it will have to first be waged against the faux elites.
Agreed! 100%
“This teaches the Europeans that America will not subsidize European’s failed socialist policies……..”
Europe is about to run out of “other people’s money.”
Yassss! Finally! Back to the Dark Ages for Europe before the Renaissance happened. And when I say Renaissance I am referring to when the USA started taking care of Europe after World War 2.
I guess Ross Perot gets the last laugh, after being mercilessly mocked for his “giant sucking sound” remarks when NAFTA was first proposed. All the ordinary men and women I knew believed him.
But the politicians sold us out.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/03/27/wednesday-march-27th-open-thread-3/#comment-11678219
I was one of those “conservatives” who thought Perot was nuts at the time, but have since had the scale fallen from my eyes, especially during Bush ’43’s ruinous tenure…
Mr. Perot received a healthy chunk of the popular vote. I think that election is what convinced PDJT that if he ever sought a high elected office, he would have to capture a major political party endorsement.
Some people thought that he caused GHWB to lose. GHWB ran a feeble weak campaign against the newly annointed torch bearer for the (D) party – WJC.
I never heard of WJC before. Now we know that it did not matter to the powers that be that are pulling the strings who won that election.
People forgot that WJC fired all (96?) US Attorneys on his first day. Probably because of the investigations into his days as Governor, allowing the CIA to fly weapons to the Contrast out of Mena, AR and bring back cocaine into the US.
I thought at the time that poppy bush ran the most lackluster campaign that any incumbent had ever run up to that time. It was like he really didn’t want to be President any more.
Man! We have had some lousey presidents over the last forty years, have we not? It is a wonder that anything is left of us…
“. It was like he really didn’t want to be President any more.
Man! We have had some lousey presidents over the last forty years, have we not? ”
That is the exact impression I had at the time about GHWB.
Yes, I thought the country would have learned a lesson or two after WJC. Then we got BHO, who fooled a lot of people.
1 Samuel 16:7 KJV
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
And people read his lips.
Hilarious. Canadian unions have ALWAYS pushed their members towards liberalism.
How is that working out for them?
Lots of hand wringing now I bet. Serves them right.
DD
And, just like that, the labor union loves Trump.
He must be scared of being voted out. This is what he was saying at his UAW rally for Kamala in Detroit last November…… Source: fox2detroit.com
“It is the working class who built this country. And on Tuesday, when we defeat Donald Trump and land another body blow to the billionaire class, it’ll be because you delivered that victory,” Fain said to the crowd. “In the UAW, and in our labor movement, our response to hate and division is simple, our answer is solidarity. If we stick together, we will never lose.”
Hey, if leftists couldn’t be two-faced, they’d have no face.
They have ZERO accountability.
“………And on Tuesday, when we defeat Donald Trump and land another body blow to the billionaire class, it’ll be because you delivered that victory,”
Standard operating procedure for anyone proclaiming to lead the masses is to start with some form of divide, and an easy way to do that is by envy. The evil rich don’t pay their fare share of taxes! You can lead anyone if you proclaim to share a common enemy.
Biden appoints UAW president to White House advisory council

Should I pretend not to notice? Only one man (Trump) is holding the line.
United Auto Workers (Fain) endorses Biden ahead of likely rematch with Trump
Fain and the group endorsed Biden’s reelection bid in January, citing the president’s solidarity with workers
citing the president’s solidarity with workers? WTF

Did anyone ask you to?
Sound like you would prefer me to.
You’re projecting.
You’re brownnosing.
Vapid Scatological Insults are not generally condoned here.
Shawn Fain did a Tucker interview a few months ago and said, to the effect, “The Dems are childish, arrogant, and selfish…AND I’M A LIFELONG DEMOCRAT…they have lost the rank-&-file to Trump and they will not get them back anytime soon and they don’t deserve to get them back.”
I’m a strong Right to Work guy, but it was a fascinating interview. Well worth the listen.
Full-on union support for a Republican. Whodathunkit?
I also can’t help but think this is related to the EU backstabbing involving ukraine support and trying to derail the peace talks. These tariffs will totally suck the air out of the room for the EU. Glad to see it, for multiple reasons.
Isn’t it funny that tariffs are “taxes” when WE employ them but not when THEY employ them?
You nailed it! I am so sick of the double speak/standards I could spit nails.
Maybe Trump should start utilizing the phrase “reciprocal taxes” instead.
Idiots on youtube saying “The rest of the world doesn’t care about the USA and don’t want anything from the USA.”
I responded “we buy ALL your stuff! It’s how the rest of the world earns a living. This is why every world leader caved to Trump’s introduction of tariffs!” They have no flippin’ idea…. even Trudeau knows though.
Agreed. I was listening to a podcast that played a clip of Howard Lutnik where he explained President Trump’s tariffs as being a foreign companies’ admission ticket to the largest audience of buyers for their products.
Well that’s what it is. I think Trump’s idea of turning the US economy of consumers as “The Sam’s Club for sellers!” It sounds silly and weird but if it means we don’t have to pay INCOME TAX? Let’s go!
And I STILL wouldn’t plan to buy a bunch of useless things! The longer the economy has been running slow, the more comfortable I have gotten with buying LESS CRAP.
I used to play games… a lot of games. And over the past 5-10 years or so, they have shifted from publishing games on cartridges (ROMs) and CDs/DVDs to downloadable content… and then selling “part of the game” followed by “buying more parts of the game” later. Now we’ve got games requiring internet connections and when they close the authentication servers, the games are worthless!
Retro gaming is returning because NONE of that crap existed back then and small game developers are now producing NEW games for OLD platforms!
The point of that rant is to REJECT the toxic sellers. Reject the “you will own nothing and be happy” people. That includes Nintendo and Microsoft and Sony. (what else is there??) REJECT the people who sell cars to you only to find those fancy “infotainment systems” are collecting your data and selling it to your insurance company. (This is a FACT! And it has to STOP!)
I’ve still got my old Nissan which predates most of this crap in modern cars… not getting rid of it. It still works fine!
Anyway… buy less crap. I’ve grown so accustomed to ignoring my “wants” for so long that I no longer want them that I simply want less. What a life-changing thing.
The Subscription Model of the money changers to simply exist and enjoy anything at all is slavery.
Yes, fewer wants escapes much of the chains, but it’s not enough.
The Culture of Greed and the endless desire for control must be reversed.
That’s because they speak with accents. They think we’re stupid because we don’t. 😉
I don’t know when it happened but I mostly think I got “an education” as a child… mostly. I was still taught “there is a coming ice age because of humans and pollution!” Yeah, most of you younger people never heard of “global cooling” but I experienced the tail end of that when I was in elementary school.
But these days? And as far back as the introduction of “ebonics” as a legitimate language? Education was definitely shifted into political indoctrination.
-“That’s because they speak with accents. They think we’re stupid because we don’t. “-
Now that thar, is a great line!
Now if we can just teach our high-school graduates how to read, they’ll have jobs too!
A nationwide education catch up program, tied to the Apprenticeship programs we need, would go a long ways towards bridging some educational deficits.
Recovery will require serious outside the box thinking, and genuine action.
And why do we fund public schools? At any level?
I hear you.
Those who do not own their property should be able to opt out of the schemes that fund such.
For those who think the globalists are behind all of this Anti-America agenda? I agree with you. They are “America First” in terms of social and economic collapse. If the USA falls, the world falls with it. But if the USA turns around while the rest of the world falls? They are in BIG trouble.
“They are “America First” in terms of social and economic collapse. If the USA falls, the world falls with it. But if the USA turns around while the rest of the world falls? They are in BIG trouble.”
“They” want 7/8 of the world’s population DEAD so they can have the planet for themselves.

The same way we do with our crooked incompetent politicians. Especially our dumb and stupid Libtards.
I think the Trump administration should do a better job at illustrating the current obscene tariffs that the EU has had on US products for decades.
Motorcycles?
Cars?
Wine?
…and on and on.
There is a reason there are no Harley Davidson’s in Europe. Or US-manufactured cars. Or Californian wines.
Or US dairy or US timber in Canada. Or a wide variety of our products in China, Mexico, etc. etc.
All those Countries tariff the crap out of our products to protect their local industries. You think Canadian timber (which has a very short growing season) can compete with US timber (which has excellent growing season)? Nope. Not without tariffs.
Everyone knows that Trump is putting tariffs on foreign products.
But very few people know exactly what tariffs those same foreign Countries have on our products right now.
For a while, Harley Davidson WITH HUGE TARIFFS were still highly sought. Then … “WTF” happened to Harlet Davidson!? Now no one wants it at any price.
“They don’t have the cards”
They keep getting Trumped!
I love pinochle!
We were an election away from the same fate or worse. The Deep State is doing everything it can to make our fate worse than the EU’s fate.
Local media hyperventilating about the price of cars going up without mentioning the hyper inflation of autos over the last four years.
They will subsidize and try to wait PDJT out, for the next regime that will go back to the existing status quo. We need continuity of policy, so get/stay involved in future elections!
Nix the Fix

MAXIMIZE THE MANDATE
CODIFY THE REVOLUTION
Can we call this the
AUDI DUTY?
In Europe, Canada and Mexico, tariffs are fine as long as the tariffs are on American products coming into their nations but as soon as the tariff is on their products coming into America tariffs are the end of the world. Funny how that works. Maybe everyone should eliminate tariffs?
It will be interesting watching what the European Socialists do. I just bet that 5% of GDP spent on defense that is more like 3% will go to ZERO. Will the European Union cut the fat in Brussels ? Will they DOGE the rest of it? The Socialists’ heads have to be exploding.
💀🙏💀
When I was a little kid I’d give my older sister a dollar as a Christmas present and she’d give me five dollars. When I got older, she said she wasn’t going to do that anymore and I was really mad…but there wasn’t anything I could do about it!
Same thing with Canada and the EU, who’ve been making out like bandits for so many years and now President Trump said he isn’t going to do that anymore and they are really mad…but there isn’t anything they can do about it!
They followed Hitler …..

Drove a Audi A6 to Myrtle beach…great vehicle.
Until you have to replace a headlight for $5,000.
This is in addition to the squeeze China just gave to Germany:

Yup.
Non-Tariff Trade Barriers.
They can pretend to no tariffs while banning with another tool.
Finally, a POTUS with BALLS!
“Tariffs are taxes — bad for businesses [and] worse for consumers equally in the US and the European Union.”
Well, no sh*t! That’s what President Trump has been sayin all along, campaigned on, lower tariffs, lower taxes and smaller government.
So Ursula, now that you stated you understand why tariffs are bad, lower European tariffs and President Trump will lower US tariffs. It really is that simple.
Of course, if European tariffs are lowered, then already high European taxes will have to raised even further which might cause a tax revolt and more companies leave to relocated the the U.S. That would be a real shame./s
The average manufacturing job multiplier is 10. That is, every manufacturing job supports an additional TEN other jobs outside the manufacturing supply chain simply by the spending and re-spending of the plant payroll. That is why, when a small factory that employs 400 workers is closed, the small town it is in dies. That town doesn’t just lose 400 local jobs. It loses 4,400 local jobs.
Do the math. 400 jobs at an average $50,000 per year is $20 million in payroll that is injected into that local economy every year, year in and year out. That payroll supports other local businesses as it is spent by the factory workers, re-spent by the people working in the businesses they spent it at, re-spent again by the workers in the businesses THEY patronize, and so on and so on.
That is the AVERAGE manufacturing multiplier. Some industries are more, some are less. But auto manufacturing, well, it has the highest multiplier of all industries at 14. FOURTEEN!!
So sure, repatriate manufacturing generally to the US. But for the biggest and fastest bang for the buck? CARS, BABY!!! Do them first.
Oh and by the way, the Bureau of Labor Statistics used to track this by industry for anyone who wanted to look it up. I assume it still does.
German: Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei.
Everything has an ending, only the sausage has two.
Meaning: Everything will come to an end eventually.
I might drop into Das Steinhaus and end some sausages myself.
Been too long.
The same could be said about us, the USA, when you consider our elections-the results and the candidates-for a long, long time; until DJT came along.
And still, we have what they have with the Dem/RINO party.
Perhaps the EU will be more interested in agreeing with the Trump / United States in lifting sanctions against Russia so that an end to war could happen and peace could ensue
This specific comment always ticks me off, “Tariffs are taxes — bad for businesses [and] worse for consumers equally in the US and the European Union.”
What von der Leyen is admitting is that GERMANY’s tariffs harm GERMAN consumers. And EU taxes harm EU consumers. He can eliminate this harm TODAY by simply dropping Germany and the EU’s tariffs. The contempt I have for these Wizards of Smart is without bound.
Canada has said the same thing, as have others. Every single one of them absolutely lies because they try to make it look like they don’t have tariffs. Some of Canada’s tariffs are 200% BEFORE Trump came along.
She.
I think.
I’m not gonna check.
lol I didn’t care enough to look. They’re all the same interchangeable lizard people.
Certainly brainwashing and guilt are a factor, but so is a multi-party system. The more parties splitting up the vote, the more likely none of them get a governing majority. That way an unpopular middle left party can form a coalition with a communist party or two and form a majority.
It’s all too much leftist tyranny and socialism.
I hate to be a party-pooper but does anyone else think the dems aren’t going to allow Trump to win such a huge victory without a fight? I don’t know when or how but you can bet your boots there’s some skullduggery being concocted as we speak.
Did they block a single tariff the first go round?
I don’t believe so.
Not a chance. They’re in deep shit with non-government union workers.
The EU is about to learn a very valuable lesson. They think the can find “other markets” that will offset losses to the US market. The problem for them is that every country will soon start treating them as ‘persona-non-grata” in order to protect themselves from being on the wrong side of the US & facing their own economic woes.
Get the popcorn ready, they’re gonna try to hold off to save face but will end up folding like cheap suits rather quickly.
