Just as Trump envoy Steve Witkoff departed Vnukovo airport, near Moscow, a series of inbound drone strikes from Ukraine (EU/NATO/UK) hit the area. The airport was closed immediately following Witkoff departure.
This timed and targeted drone strike is yet another example of Ukraine/NATO/EU/UK provoking and antagonizing Russia as President Trump tries to assemble the outlines of a ceasefire. This is the 3rd coordinated attack on Russia timed to coincide with President Trump’s team meeting with Russian and/or Ukranian officials.
Fortunately, Steve Witkoff was already exiting the airspace as inbound drones began hitting their targets.
The inbound drones in combination with the outbound Witkoff flight likely complicated the use of Russian air defenses. The NATO team within Ukraine are playing with fire.

(VIA MSM) – Ukraine staged major drone strikes on Russian capital Moscow soon after accusing Vladimir Putin of seeking to thwart Donald Trump’s ceasefire demand.
A major oil refinery was also hit in a strike, triggering ten explosions followed by a massive inferno – just 55 miles from Putin’s £1 billion clifftop palace on the Black Sea.
Vnukovo airport – used by Trump envoy Steve Witkoff to leave Moscow after meeting Putin and his top officials – was closed.
It was the second major Ukrainian attack on Moscow in three days, and appeared to be a direct response to Putin setting multiple conditions for any ceasefire.
The inferno at Tuapse Oil Refinery came after ten deafening explosions, thought to be orchestrated by drones.
Huge flames and thick black smoke rose after the strike and the fire spread quickly. More than 120 firefighters fought the blaze.
Krasnodar regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said: ‘The Kyiv regime attacked the oil complex in Tuapse. One of the gasoline tanks caught fire.’
Moscow was also rocked by drone strikes, causing car alarms to go off ‘en masse’, according to an eyewitness.
The strikes were close to Putin’s usual highway route from his official residence in Moscow to the Kremlin.

I believe after Witkoff left, the Russians commented on it being a good talk and that both US and Russia should begin assembling real negotiating teams. Russia did comment that Witkoff would probably NOT be on this team. Russia not like the “Witkoff”? or maybe too busy.
Anyway get your teams together and start the multi-year process of negotiating before a peace is agreed to. Shades of Vietnam and other wars. They negotiated for years before peace arrived. With the US ending up almost fully taking the winning side position to get peace. So US team must be prepared to accept and agree to all or nearly all of Russia main points. They are the winning side.
Why could negotiations take a year or more? Many things have to be accomplished before Russia will sign peace agreement – for lasting peace. If the cease fire does not start, or fails, both Trump and Putin will prove to the world that it is due to , not Russia, but the Ukraine and Europe. It’s rather complicated legally and there is precedence for several views. The only one I see that would fairly clearly allow a President by himself to withdraw would be abrogation of the terms of the treaty (Charlton v. Kelly). In the case of NATO, such a case could be made under Article 8 if the UK and EU continue to push the war in Ukraine IMO…

What are the consequences for a country deciding not to take part in the military defense of one of its NATO allies? In order to avoid a global nuclear world war, the US could always just say, “Sorry, but we’re not entering your global war. Very well said, thedoc00. If the EU was involved in this outrageous abuse of a Peace Envoy, it totally justifies the US ending our NATO commitment. Unfortunately, the Left will still use this as an excuse to try to impeach Trump. (any excuse will do) The question is, will they have enough votes in the House to do this? There are enough RINO traitors & weasels in the Senate, they could certainly pull off the votes there. It is a certainty the Left will try to impeach Trump as many times as they can during his term anyway, though. As we saw in the first term, they don’t have to have anything legitimate to try to do this. The midterms could be critical to preventing them from succeeding. The article uploaded from MSN is actually a direct copy of the article from a UK News Service called Metro News, which is linked to the UK Daily Mail. per the article on the Metro website .. it was listed as “10 hours old”.
The article is written by a reporter named Sarah Hooper, who is a journalist for the Metro News Service in the UK. The link below takes you to the wiki site for the news paper. The Metro News wiki is an interesting read. I also found it hard to dislike a news source that 2 x different Writers Unions in the UK do not like as well as they are on the hate list of the Guardian and Rupert Murdock. Yet they are linked to the Daily Mail, so who knows.

Did US assets assist this strike … no they did not. It is not feasible that President Trump allowed the INTEL and Targeting switch to go back on without having a trusted asset monitoring use.
Theses attacks, lead by the UK and France, do not need US assets. They are area attacks using simpler means of flight control and targeting, i.e. a drone, a simple map data loader and inertial nav unit, maybe with a link to commercial air traffic system. The soul purpose of the attack was to scuttle any discussions of ending the conflict.

Why not have further negotiations in the city of Yekaterinburg inside of Russia? It is further east, heavily protected and important in its own right.

It’s past time to stomp this insanity out. The U.S. should cease sharing all intelligence covering the entirety of Ukraine AND Russia with *ALL* foreign entities regardless of who they are. There should also be a very clear statement that if it happens again the U.S. will view it as an attack on them and will retaliate against those involved. To back that up, full scale surveillance including full spectrum ELINT, should be implemented for 72 hours on either side of any future conferences in order to record all the culprits.
I don’t know how Putin has been able to control himself to the point of not bombing the crap out of them. The little turd Zelenski and his buddies are making aTrump and the U.S. look like fools.
