Why isn’t Volodymyr Zelenskyy the one asking for mercy? That’s the larger, unspoken message from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking directly to President Donald Trump’s request for Russia to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers surrounded in the Kursk region, President Vladimir Putin says they will be spared if they lay down their arms and surrender.
Notice how Putin draws a distinction between President Trump and President Zelenskyy.
Putin says, “we are sympathetic to President Trump’s call to be guided by humanitarian considerations,” and then Putin shifts the emphasis on the absence of this plea from bloodthirsty Zelenskyy. “There must be an appropriate order from the military and political leadership of Ukraine to its troops to lay down their arms and surrender,” Putin said.
“We have read today’s appeal from President Trump to spare the lives of servicemen of the Ukrainian Army in the Kursk region. In this regard, please note that Ukrainian militants have committed numerous crimes against civilians. These acts, as I have already stated, are classified by us as terrorism. At the same time, we are sympathetic to President Trump’s call to be guided by humanitarian considerations regarding these servicemen. In this regard, I emphasize that if they lay down their arms and surrender, they will be guaranteed life and dignified treatment. To effectively implement President Trump’s call, there must be an appropriate order from the military and political leadership of Ukraine to its troops to lay down their arms and surrender.” ~ President Putin
President Putin recognizes the efforts of President Trump to reframe the U.S-Russia relationship after years of untrustworthy behavior. Finalizing with a simple, “let’s see what comes of it.”
My sense of these details is that Russian officials and U.S. officials have essentially agreed to a messaging process. The messaging process is the shifting of global perspectives from pretenses to non-pretending realities.
President Putin putting the responsibility of surrendering in Kursk directly on the shoulders of Volodymyr Zelenskyy to save his own troops is very strategic. President Trump doesn’t want Zelenskyy hiding behind him, and Putin is drawing Zelenskyy out.

Zelensky is a puppet of the warmongers at the cia and NATO. Trump wants peace. Nobody else does. Why should Putin sign a peace treaty e we out a group of folks who promised to not move NATO East? See how that worked out? He’s winning. Ask yourself how much money American energy companies have invested over time in Donbas. It isn’t hard folks. The left used to connect these dots. Now they are simply the party of war war war Russia Russia Russia.
U not wrong
“Winners don’t need a cease fire.” Empty promises are as duplicitous as “Minsk” was. NATO, as the real opponent here, must forever give up its aspirations to defeat Russia by proxy – or by any other means. Will it do so? “We’ll see what happens.”
Zelenskyy, who is NOT the head of state, has no part in this and will do as he is told. His signature is legally worthless.
Putin and Trump are Statesmen; Zelenskyy is a wind-up puppet of the CIA, USAID, and the Deep State.
I kind of like the way he says “TRrrr-UMP-ah” in the beginning;
it fits.
Zelenskyy has had so much smoke blown up his posterior by the EU warmongers and the Biden cronies I do not see any chance of a meaningful and lasting peace deal coming with him leading Ukraine. Trump should be pushing harder for an election using all the sticks and carrots at his disposal.
As to Kursk, Zelenskyy seems to maintain a distance from all military operations and for him to request Russia not liquidate his forces would breech the perception he is not controlling the actions of his forces.
It reminds me of the old 50s song “Lay down your arms and surrender to mine”? Both Z and P ought to be drawn and quartered. They’re both tyrannical guttersnipes depriving their citizens of Life, Liberty and the Pusuit Of Happiness. Lets get to hell out of NATO and get all 50,000 plus US soldiers out of Germany and kick the UN out of NY? We don’t need those ties to a bunch of American hating Europeeons so they can carry on their wet dream Euro fantasies of power which they don’t have!
I wonder if the war hating dancing vagina’s will be lap dancing these 2 men who are calling for the useless deaths of young soldiers to end!??
Is that check or checkmate??
Who is paying the American mercenaries under contract to fight for the US controlled and bankrolled Kiev regime?
Why is Trump continuing to fund these contracts?
Why has Trump not ordered all US military and CIA operatives out of Ukraine? Is Trump in control of the CIA, or is he just another lap dog to the Agency?
Why has Trump failed to publish what the 46 CIA created and managed bio labs were engaged in, and arrested anyone involved under American law and International treaty obligations?
Why has Trump not ordered all US and NATO made weapon systems that MUST be directly operated (computer targeting and ordering the firing) by US servicemen and officers in NATO command bunkers due to proprietary and classified restrictions be removed out of Ukraine?
Do not try to tell me that several of these bunkers were not destroyed by Russian missile strikes. Yet Trump allows our officers to stay in country and continue on.
Why has Trump authorized the US military to deploy and test Boeing made modified glide bombs to see if they can now evade Russian electronic warfare by killing Russians? If he were really wanting peace in Europe.
Why has Trump failed to demand elections in Ukraine, per their own Constitution? (Ostensibly election integrity should be near and dear to Trumps’ heart after what he went through).
There will be no ceasefire until there is an elected government in Ukraine. This nonesense ceasefire without elections Trump is perpetuating is as useful as urinating into the wind.
Why has Trump not redeployed these assets and funds to our borders to be prepared to face and engage an actual threat to our sovereignty and security against the narco terrorists in Mexico.
You ask why to all of this.
why? Because you are clueless to how diplomacy and negotiation work.
it’s not that you aren’t asking good questions of what needs and hopefully will happen, it’s the order that they happen you aren’t understanding.
what you are equivalently asking is to play 7-card stud, but make the US play with only 3 cards—and those cards are face up.
The purpose of rhetorical questions is to illustrate the massive gap between Trumps’ stated position of desiring a functional European peace deal and his actual indisputable actions of continuing the lost war against Russia.
Trump has no cards to play, as the entire project to expand NATO to Russia and exploit it, like we do in dozens of countries commenced under Bush Sr. utterly failed.
The Russians have clearly stated their minimal goals, and have defeated the rabid attack dog we made of Ukraine, and NATO.
The hope was Trump would end our governments’ habit of perpetrating pretense narratives. As of now he has not. And he has adopted the Ukraine disaster as a huge blemish on his presidential legacy.
