Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick appears on Bloomberg to discuss the tariff approach of President Trump toward national security. Economic security is national security.
Lutnick correctly points out the crazy mindset of the Canadians and Europeans not understanding and respecting the big picture objective of President Trump. Ex. President Trump says we need steel and aluminum made in the USA, Canada responds with a tax on soccer balls. As Lutnick says, “really, I mean, REALLY?”
This interview is must watch television that cuts directly through the pretending and silliness. WATCH:

Howard appears to be a very enjoyable man. I only learned of him through CTH back when Sundance was laying out the potential administration picks but he gives the vibe (similar to POTUS) of someone who would be so fun to just have a meal with. What a great interview.
Considering what he went through on 9/11 and all that he lost, it makes me admire him all the more. To have found joy and purpose in the aftermath of that tragedy is remarkable.

As so many below have already said, this is a great interview. And yes, listen to the end. The real zingers are at the end. I am grateful to Mr. Lutnick for his clarity.. You cannot bait this man.
Lutnick is great. What’s not so great is reading the You Tube comments attached to that video. Mostly Canadians and Dems, I suspect, but it is frustrating to read such stupidity.
I can barely stand to listen to these broad casters, they really make me sick, but Lutnick is great!

He survived son really tuff stuff
The US has a $65B/yr trade deficit with Canada. It is mathematically impossible for Canada to “match us dollar for dollar” on tariffs. That’s the entire point about the trade deficit. Canada has far more to lose.

I loved every minute of Mr Lutnick talking – not only does he speak with expertise and clarity but also he handled those insufferable British lefty talking heads with ease.
If you only have two minutes to watch, skip to the end where Lutnick destroys the female interviewer and her silly comments about some fake news from Politico. It was brilliant!
