Ukranian President and EU spokesperson Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces on his X-account that U.K officials traveled to Kiev for a proactive strategy session in advance of Tuesday’s talks in Saudi Arabia.
The UK (Starmer), France (Macron) and EU Commission (von der Leyden) are focused on ways to continue warfighting operations in Ukraine. Any cessation of hostilities runs counter to their collective financial and geopolitical interests.

The European NATO coalition continues to demand blood to oil the machinery of war and opposing any peace efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump is now paramount. Unfortunately for Starmer and Macron, Ursula von der Leyden cannot guarantee or secure the long-term financing they need to replace funds from the USA stopped by President Trump.
If the pattern holds, there is likely to be a U.K/France supported Ukrainian drone or missile attack into Russia on Tuesday morning GMT. The U.S delegation of Secretary Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and President Trump’s emissary Steve Witkoff will all be in attendance.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered the following remarks:
“Today, a highly productive meeting took place in Kyiv between the diplomatic teams of Ukraine and the UK.
We discussed our joint steps that could bring us closer to peace and accelerate diplomatic efforts. I’m grateful for the support. Ukraine is determined to do everything to end this war with a just and lasting peace as soon as possible.
Next week, I will begin with a visit to Saudi Arabia. After my meeting on Monday with the Crown Prince, Ukrainian diplomatic and military representatives will stay for a meeting on Tuesday with the American team. The Ukrainian team will include Andriy Yermak, Andriy Sybiha, Rustem Umerov, and Pavlo Palisa.
On our side, we are fully committed to constructive dialogue, and we hope to discuss and agree on the necessary decisions and steps.

There is some indication President Trump has moved beyond the ‘minerals deal’ distraction talking point and remains entirely focused on getting Ukraine and the EU to commit to peace. However, Ukraine needs to push the minerals deal as part of their “security guarantee” proposal that is intended to put U.S. troops in their fight.
The people who truly want peace are not afraid of concessions to guarantee it. The people who want war reject concessions and want the security guarantees, so they have a tool to deconstruct peace.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will fly to Jeddah on Sunday for the bilateral talks with Ukrainian officials, who will be led by Andriy Yermak, a top Zelenskiy aide. Rubio is expected to be joined by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.
“You can’t say ‘I want peace,’ and, ‘I refuse to compromise on anything,'” one of the U.S. officials said of the upcoming talks.
“We want to see if the Ukrainians are interested not just in peace, but in a realistic peace,” said the other official. “If they are only interested in 2014 or 2022 borders, that tells you something.” (read more)

The truth of the opposition to the Ukraine peace negotiations, wrapped up in one single statement:

There exists NO casus bellum here – not even the cheap attempts Zelensky tries to whitewash his side with. Just the collective financial and geopolitical interests of the EU, as the corrupt interests and secret funding avenues of/by the US politicians have been already exposed – and in many of the financial cases, shut down.
People dissenting from the war can truthfully read “financial interests” to mean the deeply corrupt money-laundering governments around the world have engaged in to enrich the politicians and elite.
“Geopolitical interests” can truthfully be read as the insane phobia against Russia, as Russia forgoes the self-destructive policies of the EU to become the ascending power of Europe.
I realize this is simply re-stating the obvious, mostly because most here already know what the core issues really are. Yet, sometimes, it is good to be reminded what the obvious is, that we not lose track of that landmark as dissent from the elites continues to track forward.
This seems like the first time since the invasion of Ukraine that other faces of Ukraine emerge: Yermak, Sybiha, Umerov, Palisa. Are these the string pullers behind the Zelensky façade; are they, collectively or individually, making moves to replace the puppet; do they want peace more than the empty atta-boys from their EU neighbors?
So many question, absolutely no information, and it may be that Rubio and his group already have the answers to those questions and so we wait while this complicated business is undertaken.

Easy way to fix this for the U.S. … reestablish normal relations with Russia and pull all aid, weapons, intelligence, personnel, etc. out of Ukraine. If Ukraine and Europe want war so badly they can handle it. Also, refuse to sell LNG to Europe and I’m sure Russia will be happy to cut them off.

The dirty little secret about the ongoing support from the EU and the UK for the war in Ukraine—and war with Russia—under the pretext of defending our Democracy™ or containing Putin’s ambitions is that it’s actually a European domestic issue.
The countries most involved in supporting the war—such as the UK, France, and Germany—have incredibly unpopular governments and leaders. For these politicians, continuing the war, with unrealistic goals like defeating Russia, seems to be a matter of political survival. In the process, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian lives should be sacrificed for these objectives.
The ‘Eternal War’ is nothing but a cynical, diversionary tactic to distract from their own domestic crises caused by the left-wing and green policies and the dwindling trust in their increasingly undemocratic governments.
The City’s war on Russia goes so very much farther back and deeper than mere political difficulties of the day.

This statement by Zelensky is a known falsehood. How can there be productive negotiations when you begin with a lie? Doesn’t show good prospects for ending the war. Zelensky would do best (for his own safety, and that of the Ukrainian people) to hold elections and surrender to losing his dictatorship when he is voted out of office. I can’t believe the Ukrainians want to continue this war.
Technically, he is not in office.

Russia should join the EU
just watching the Greta Van Susteren show on NewsMax interview with Dean Phillips, former Dem. Rep. from Minnesota and presidential candidate. They were discussing the Ukraine situation and President Trumps efforts to achieve a peace deal.
Mr. Phillips complimented President Trump on his efforts, but is concerned he will support keeping some Ukraine territory which would embolden Putin to continue his aggression.
He also said that the best solution would be for Russia to join the EU and possibly could happen when Putin is eventually gone. Seems more feasible for Russia to join NATO which has been discussed before. Probably not a serious discussion. But Russia joining the EU and reporting to Brussels-LOL.
I remember many European leaders calling for Putin to be overthrown and removed from office. Just makes me think that the EU wants to eliminate Russia as a threat to their globalization strategy.
But what do I know. Just seemed like a ridiculous suggestion for Russia to join the EU.
