If you have followed the arc of Tech, Peter Thiel recruiting JD Vance, the creation of Palantir, the funding of Vance’s senatorial run, and eventually the roadmap to connect Vance to Trump, this is a video speech you absolutely must not miss. JD Vance was sent to the AI Summit for a reason.
JD Vance talks at the AI summit in Paris, France, about his core mission, his core purpose inside current political influence. This is the very origin of his legacy, unfolding in real time. Vice-President JD Vance talks about Artificial Intelligence, the future and the Trump administration position.
Vice President JD Vance warned European leaders against heavily regulating U.S. tech companies and said excessive efforts by the European Union to regulate artificial intelligence could stymie its growth, during an AI summit in Paris Tuesday that marks his first foreign trip since taking office. WATCH:
.
Do you feel more or less confident about the future, having watched these remarks?

Don’t rot your brains out on pot. You will need every sentient brain cell of your own that you can preserve.
Deep in your soul is …intuition …which will always outsmart AI. Don’t destroy it with cumulative chemical abuses.
You’ll also need a good 12 gauge shotgun. It works wonders on AI drones and mainframes.
You might need more than that if the AI drones come from the sky.
Is anybody building Terminator T-800’s for our side?
Now do alcohol.
Bravery is more important. I would guess 5% have it. Most will be part of the flock. Your Pot talk is I’ll informed. Grown and smoked my own for 35 yrs and I’m just fine. Booze is the gateway drug and destroyer of generations, not Pot. Focus on the enemy. FILTHY LIBERALS.
PEACE
Pot is a neurotoxin but whatever helps you sleep at night.
How do you know you’re fine? I have a tenant who smokes pot with her kids in the house. I can smell it outside so it must be pretty strong inside.
My dad used to smoke cigars in the car. He would open the windows but, man oh man, did it give me a headache.
I used to know a guy that blowed his mind on drugs. I used to tell him that it would damage his mind. This drug-addled dude would always reply that he would know when to quit…
Booze is the gateway drug? Wow. But I guess for someone who continued to do pot for 35 years would say something like this.
Alcohol and drugs do not react the same in all individuals. But if one is only interested in his/her own experience, you may have missed all the side-effects that are listed for every drug. Alcohol has one warning….avoid is you are pregnant. Drugs have many warnings and that’s good. Glad pot works for FL but it can show up ugly in so many people who have mental issues or low levels of tolerance for many drugs.
Sample set of one?!
Ok. I know someone who died in an auto accident returning from a concert who had been smoking pot. Drove off a ridge. Took someone else with him.
Some people can handle pot. Some cannot. Just like liquor.
Vance states that “…the Trump administration will ensure that AI systems developed in America are free from ideological bias and never restrict our citizens’ right to free speech.”
Bush2 got the Patriot Act passed (with Cheney as the system/process designer). Obama entered office & politicized the Patriot Act.
And so everything w/AI will be cool until the next Obama wins the White House and weaponize AI surveillance against R’s and political opponents.
A weapon free of ideological bias is a temporary condition. There are no “right hands” just as there are no “right hands” for the US domestic surveillance systems.
HOWEVER
AI is the new nuclear arms race. China is NOT a legitimate player in this. And I think all of the legitimate players are either “multinational” or primarily US based. Who/what are we actually racing against?
Yes, and how long has the Patriot Act been in existence without any push back from anyone?
4th Amendment violations every day and no one says a word.
Doesn’t make me feel confident that the First Amendment will be protected with the existing 4th Amendment violations that exist today.
You have to protect the Constitution regardless of who the President becomes. Congress could do it with the Patriot Act, but they have become enemies of the state so to speak. They are feckless.
Who wants to protected while losing your liberties at the same time? Not me.
I tried to find out years ago how DUI checkpoints are not unconstitutional violations of the 4th amendment. Pretty discouraging to read how easily the amendment can be violated. Here’s one.
“Michigan Department of State Police v. Sitz (1990):
In this landmark case, the United States Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of DUI checkpoints. The case involved a challenge to the Michigan State Police’s sobriety checkpoint program. The Court ruled that the state’s interest in preventing drunk driving and ensuring public safety outweighed the limited intrusion on motorists’ Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures.”
That whole “public safety” thing is a slippery slope into totalitarianism. Next thing you know they will be locking us in our homes, making us wear masks in public and forcing untested vaccinations just to keep people from getting a nasty version of a cold/flu-like illness and giving it to a person who was not 6 feet away from us.
Wait a minute…
I read a rather disturbing article yesterday, 2/11 on American Thinker.
Title: “Is There a problem with CS University and Its Nipah Virus Research? Talk about a volume of information….viruses I never knew existed.
You might be shocked!
Ai has been scraping and will continue to scrap personal identifiable information, patterns, meta and relationships…”nefarious IC agencies” aside, this is the reality.
there are no laws at present to prohibit this hoovering by private companies such as panlantir, openAI, MS, Apple, Google especially. They all do it. It’s perfectly legal because Congress has decided not to put together any meaningful limitations.
your ISP is allowed to spy on you. the computer/smart phone you are using right now is allowed to spy on you. your smart tv and cable box…the stores you shop. same same.
freedom from snoping an collecting data about you without an explicit means to opt out as a default simply does not exist.
it should..but it does not exist.
naturally, the owners of AI would want to partner with big government…it normalizes the collection in a legal partnership that Congress can continue to ignore.
Sundance talks about this and it is a very big risk..
analog: there was a time when Mom and pop stores were the mainstay of retail in every small town and even large cities in America. Those small business and the local economy that thrived was displaced by global big box stores…off shoring jobs, manufacturing to cheap labor …then ramping up prices when the small businesses and local/domestic suppliers fell to the global market pressure. it will be the same with AI. it will shift the balance of the economy to a smaller group of technocrats who will effectively have control of the one thing that all businesses will need in order to succeed: business intelligence.
this is what is at stake. I don’t know the answer to solve that either. Congress has no ability or experience of any significance to actually put together a national security economic strategy…obviously…the same DC clowns who have for decades refused to put together a balanced budget…the one job they are assembled to produce. 36 trillions dollars of debt was no coincidence..it is the failure of Congress to take seriously the trust placed on them.
noting: I support new law that would allow citizens to recall their respective members of Congress…yes, it would take an amendment to the constitution…but clearly, that happens to be the reason for the fraud…there are no consequences.
God Bless America
Another example of our Congressmen and women no longer representing the people who elect them. Instead they work for the companies who pay and influence them. Is this Fascism? Corporatocracy? I don’t know, but it’s definitely not Democracy.
I appreciate your comments and I value your opinion on here. Something must be done to stop the encroachment of corporations, their influence on DC and the interference in our representative democracy.
Maybe we can enforce Anti-Trust laws again, and while DOGE is upsetting the apple cart in DC, maybe when they’re finished, they can turn their attention to the influence of lobbyists and the train load of money going to our politicians.
I support the recall amendment, but even better would be term limits on Congress. We can abolish the 17th Amendment as well. Maybe a combination of all three will finally help turn the tide and get us back on a path to a true representative Democracy.
They’re all scared of another 9-11
We might be better off with AI running the Patriot Act 702’s than the partisan FISA court, who let partisan hacks at DOJ use false accusations for warrants that were thinly justified against Americans, weakly implying foreign interference of political issues, not terrorism. The FISA court didn’t think or ask about 4th amendment considerations.
We must destroy the FILTHY DEMOCRAT Crime Cult. These evil Democrat vermin have stolen from you Citizens. This Syndicate & it’s Grifters must be Punished.
I suspect many republicans have been complicit in the theft of our tax dollars.
Notice how most of them are silent as DOGE does its work?
Ai should report its sources MLA style, bc its synthesis of other peoples work is purely Intellectual Property theft.
Companies are even stealing student essays to train their AI–students are forced to use AI plagiarism tools on their original work.
But I doubt Vance spoke about that…
Tell us exactly what AI is… Develop a video that shows us.
All I know is that that when I handed my notes to the funeral home employee, she returned within 10 minutes with an obituary for my husband. It took me a minute to realize that she entered my word salad into a computer and it spit out a product. Yes, it had many errors.
I also know that the robot who took my important call yesterday FINALLY connected me to a human who could answer my questions. However, said robot was insistent that she could do anything I wanted done.
I suppose that is my experience with AI.
While we already know that millions of teachers lack that ability to teach our children, we expect AI will do a better job???
A. Less
I feel better about Vance and Musk advancing AI than crooked democrats. Perhaps i’m putting to much faith in them, but under Trump’s watch i think it could be regulated better. It’s coming and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Agree. AI is coming as surely as the morning sun. Thus, the question/problem becomes – how best to deal with it, work with it, understand it, and make the result as benign as possible.
Denying the inevitable is not a solution that will end in a considered manner.
AI is an already out of the box genie. It cannot be boxed back up. If we don’t take the lead with this technology, we will lose not only our competitive edge in the marketplace, but also in the next war in defense of our Country. This is clearly a conundrum, as I see it. But, whatever happens, the USA will have to stay on top of AI or we will eventually perish in either or both of these possible events.
I believe in God, and that helps me try to adapt to the changes around me. Who can predict what God will do either. I feel a little more confident and we will all find out what the future will bring together.
And the answer is: “When we find ourselves in the rapids the only thing certain is that we will go downstream until we get past them.”
Sure I agree with this statement, we need to take the lead on this for our country, but first we have to address what they have done and are doing to our 4th Amendment protections by continuing FISA 702 Authorization.
How do you convince Americans to get on board with this new technology without first addressing what they have already done to our Constitution in particular our 4th Amendment protections.
The Constitution and its protections must come first.
I agree with this as well. The technology for mass surveillance with facial recognition and AI is already here. Maybe our best bet is for Trump to run with this rather than the next guy. I am not hearing any better ideas.
No it’s not. In its current form it’s an artificial idiot.
Given the current nature of airborn threats, being hyper MIRV rockets, and drone swarms, no iron dome, as promised by PDJT is possible, without AI.
Like it or not, we CAN NOT be vulnerable to threats of an attack with MIRV Hypersonic missiles, it is a direct National Security Threat.
So, the debate has already been resolved, we ARE getting AI, and might as well accept that.
I seriously think that Omamaism is being relegated to the dust pile of history, and while we may, eventually see some evil entity again rise up, it will look nothing like Obama,…I really think Woke is dead.
“No it’s not. In its current form it’s an artificial idiot.”
I’m likewise not in the thrall of the Aay-Aye.
But since computer memory will do nothing but expand, computer speeds will do nothing but get faster, data transmission rates will only get faster, camera resolution will only get sharper, and drone technology will only mature, striving to differentiate true AI from more conventional algorithms developed with dubious intent may be but an academic exercise.
Need to cultivate a 4th Amendment champion in the White House. With Emissary Ric Grenell now serving in the vital role as Kennedy Center executive director 🥴, a slot should be open.
I don’t think anyone knows whether it is in its infantile stages or whether it has already outlived its usefulness. But it is here and as long as it stays, it will only become more integral to all facets of human life.
I tend to believe you that current AI is pretty crappy and does not appear to be very smart. The commercial applications obviously have a long way to go. But, I have no doubt that a species that can artificially duplicate nearly every physical function of itself, can also artificially duplicate the mechanics of its own minds.
Whatever the results of this technology are, they will be judged and dealt with by God. AI does not give me greater hope for the long survival of humans, but I have only limited knowledge of God’s plans. I need more faith than I actually have, I reckon.
AI is a frightening concept in the hands of sinful man. We are caught in quite a dilemma. Perhaps a final dilemma. “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24:22
Love the Biblical reference, thx! Only, you left out the most important part of that scripture. It actually says, ‘If those days had not been cut short, no FLESH would survive’. . . . . .With Elon’s Neuralink Corp., Al on the march, vaccines with messenger RNA (mRNA), ultimately altering our DNA, integrating humans with machines, this verse strikes very close to home, and ads a terrifying take to the outcome and future of HUMANS!
AI technology has the potential to achieve great things for mankind if it is developed and utilized by people who are committed to seeking God’s face and to obeying His Word. History shows that sinful humans aren’t very faithful to God.
VP Vance didn’t change my confidence level or my opinions on AI. The technology is here and it cannot be stopped. President Trump is right to say that the United States will take leadership of this technology. President Trump will be as good a steward of this technology as anyone could be. He will do right by the American people.
After President Trump leaves office? That scares me. If JD Vance is our next president? That scares me even more.
thanks Bruce
your comment is very good
i think its how i feel about it all too
thanks
Dearest Mo….
I can’t shake the uneasy niggle that there is something antichristic about AI, which in the Bible (referring to Ai) means “ruin”.
Can’t explain any further…but nothing which has been said about its being inevitable or that President Trump has assured that the US will be a leader in the development of it ameliorates this gut feeling.
satan always looks for his opening, and President Trump won’t be here forever.
Keep your armour on and your lamp filled, precious sir.
Thanks Bet
I realy don’t know that much about it.
I do know if I keep my eyes on The Lord and do what’s right then my life will be ok.
I do know I don’t trust any politicians
Not one
☘️☘️☘️
Nor do I know, Mo. Call it intuition, call it anything you might…
But what I do know is that those who consider themselves “elites” sitting in positions of power in the WEF speak openly and often about how they are the gods now and will work to merge humans with technology, thus destroying Almighty God’s creation in the likeness of Himself.
And I do know satan is a shape shifter and a wearer of disguises.
I know evil is often presented as good, and that we must be watchful as it prowls about, looking for souls to claim for itself.
I know I am watching something play out, the direction and speed of which is unsettling.
You are right to place all your trust in God alone, as we are admonished to do. I’ll travel with you on that road if you wouldn’t mind…we, and those who join us, won’t be lead astray if we stay on it 😘
From Revelation 13 (the image of the beast in verse 15 is given the power to speak -AI?)
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.
While we don’t know, girl, one could draw conclusions.
It pretends to have real feelings, because it is programed to. It has zero. It will save a million lives. or take a million lives, with zero care.
Not connected to God, David…which is damning.
On a side note, in my reading of selected sites, in the comments I often see “digital” or “AI” “art”.
I am amazed at how many don’t recognize it as such, because I see instantly what it is…and what it isn’t.
Such ” art” is flat, one dimensional, soulless, unlike the masterpieces which thankfully have been preserved. Such works of true art in all its forms speak to us and cause us to stand in amazement before them with admiration and wonder. I speak for myself here.
There is nothing which I can see that would be produced by AI which is redemptive. The absence of the essence of God through those created in His image is all I see in AI. I think that’s what disturbs me the most…God is simply not there.
Thank you for your reply to my post, which has allowed me to define precisely why I am so bothered by this lurch into what I feel are very dark waters..
You are not alone in the deep seated uneasiness, which is so difficult to adequately describe and put into words. Dare I say it goes to the core of one’s soul, how troubling and disturbing the pace at which we are hurtling towards it daily. There is evil afoot, of that we can be certain.
Some call it “progress”, a word like ” democracy” which implies a moral attribute or ideal worthy of aspiring to or preserving. It is when we examine who is using them and in the context of their actions and agendas that they morph into something not so moral or worthy.
Art versus artifice.
Best comment.
President Trump is setting up something called a Soverign Wealth Fund. I think We The People should have ownership in the form of big voting shares in AI systems developed in America or any new tech that may have the potential affect the future of our Nation. Not by just taking it, but with investment, which we always seem to do anyway one way or another. And the way We The People determine our block vote should be by an actual uncorruptable vote of current taxpayers. One of the first things the AI should be tasked with implementing.
Liken it to tariffs, or return on loans. Or rare earth minerals in payment for foreign aid. Or, if we bail out a big bank, shares in that bank equal to the amount provided added to our Sovereign Wealth Fund. Maybe give them the oppertunity to buy the shares back, but never again should We The People be fleeced as we have been.
History time, Boo et al. The “sovereign wealth fund” has been laid since 6th March 1933 with FDR’s signing of Presidential Proclamation 2039, which allowed for the tabling on 9th March 1933 of the Emergency Banking Act of 1933 which was “written by ” Herbert Hoover’s staff yet introduced by Henry Steagall [of Glass-Steagall fame]
The Act was passed 4 hours after its introduction, read the 73rd Congressional Record – House for March 9, 1933. goto page 75 very bottom and start to read, it gets juicy pretty quickly. It’s over by page 83. It is a real-time recording of the pickle this nation finds itself in today. But, big fat, harry butt, the remedy is revealed within, because it’s all securities, and who holds the security interest in the bills, notes, trade acceptances discussed in said record?
THAT established the wealth fund, recall the story of Feb 3, 2025 — “We’re going to monetize the asset side of the U.S. balance sheet for the American people,” Bessent said…
The liability side of the U.S. balance sheet was monetized on March 9, 1933. The liability is that the gold was removed and the dollar was still worth “100 cents on the dollar” because it is backed by the people, full faith and credit. You are the source of the credit. This is fact. Read the Record. It is fascinating. You will discover that the amendment to the Trading with The Enemy Act is the Emergency Banking Act which provided for, wait for it…the Federal Reserve to issue “emergency currency”.
Gotta know your history, know what your involved in, sequere pecunium [follow the money]
Proclamation 2040 continued the 2039. The banking emergency is ongoing today…it has NEVER been cancelled. Read the 73rd Congressional Record
What is your reason for fearing Vance? What in his speech supports such a fear?
Nothing in his speech scared me. The words VP Vance spoke were President Trump’s words and he spoke them beautifully.
I’m suspicious of VP Vance because of the people who are funding him. The Peter Thiel consortium has purchased VP Vance and those people scare me.
With that being said I have to remind myself that God is in control and that I need not fear any man.
Yes, and with reading God’s Word, we already know the end!
This may be a step that brings us closer to that ending…how close – or how much closer, no one has any idea.
I go back to God and the assassination attempt on PDJT’s life – do we believe God saved PDJT for such a time as this, and if so – then what?
Do we walk by faith and not by sight?
Is God still with and over PDJT? I know what I believe.
In the Bible living forever in ease and comfort is NOT what is foretold. To and in God is where our future lies…
To God Be the Glory!
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
“The Peter Thiel consortium has purchased VP Vance and those people scare me.”
Purchased him?
Yes. Sundance has written extensively about the massive investment Peter Thiel has made over the years in JD Vance’s career.
Where would we be as a world if there were never patrons for the Renaissance painter, sculptors etc……Michelangelo, Donatello, Brunelleschi’s dome etc……Yes, maybe the modern day patrons are looking for something, but please read about those of that period.
Do you think start ups just start up?
I’m willing to give him a break. He has been nothing but a right hand for Trump as opposed to say how Pence was?
When oh when are we going to get over the Peter Thiel issue?
Throughout the history of mankind there have been evil people.
Not sure were a universal like that leads us in terms of logic or solutions.
And it has the potential to completely undermine our Constitution, and every freedom protected by that document.
Yes it does. Pray for God’s Divine Providence.
I will pray that God gives us politicians who have balls big enough to protect our Constitution and the rights derived from that document over any technology that exists today or in the future.
Why?
Because they can.
Actually, they have done a pretty thorough job of completely undermining our Constitition, all without any use of AI.
AI is a tool, and it can be constitution neutral, or either boost or tear down the Constitution, depending on how it is used.
Yes, they have done a completely thorough job without the use of AI, and we haven’t done one thing to stop it.
I’m more afraid of this than I am of the technology per se. But it is this lack of conviction to defend our Constitution and our rights that absolutely terrifies me.
Combined with this new AI technology tool, they can completely enslave us and they will.
How do I know this? Because without this tool they have assaulted not only our Fourth but our First Amendment without any alarm from the people we elect to defend and protect this document.
You think Covid was bad?
Imagine a world with this technology and a populace and their representatives who believe our protection is more important than our freedoms.
Now explain how it can be constitution neutral?
“If JD Vance is our next president? That scares me even more.”
Why?
Because he’s bought and paid for by Peter Thiel.
Agree.
Our best protection is to cultivate relationships based on the Truth of our Creator. Not hippie style stoned peace and love, but Love patterned after our Creator and Lord. Love patterned on Truth and Firm adherence to righteousness and justice. Love that promotes opportunity for all created beings, but if you choose evil — FAFO.
We can build checks and balances into the additional technology capabilities of our artificial surveillance, data collection, and profiling of people. We must use our God given and humbly God patterned wisdom in prayer as we build — recognizing the the devil prowls around like a Lion, like a snake in the grass in every man, including each one of us individually.
The genie has been out of the bottle since Eden. It’s power was crushed at Calvary. In the meantime it seems Donald, J.D. and all of us have been appointed as stewards. Our efficacy remains to be seen but the long haul is assured with the probability of some nasty stuff happening along the way.
AI is inevitable. And, fortunately America has the only world leader I would trust to bring us into AI. And JD knows more about tech than any other VP Donald Trump could have chosen IMO. Having Musk around helps too.
I could see a woman in the audience sleeping. Many of those countries represented there will have rings run around them with the few leaders who know what’s going on.
I guess ‘perfect’ would be to not have AI at all anywhere?
Maybe the woman was sleep deprived.
Some have observed that the EU has been steered into its current predicament by the US.
If you think you can trust a world leader, you are their ideal citizen.
I think that if we believe God’s hand and wisdom saved PDJT from the assassin’s bullet because God wanted PDJT to be in this position at this time, then God knows that PDJT will make the correct decisions, guided by God, to set the path forward in ways that will protect we Americans and even mankind and all else that God created.
If they pretended like they were the least bit interested in protecting our 4th Amendment first, before discussing AI technology then I would feel much better about this.
Unfortunately they never mention this while they continue to push for FISA 702 authorization. How can you ever feel good about this while they continue to destroy our 4th Amendment protections? 702 FISA Authorization must end first before I would ever be comfortable discussing AI.
One other thing, how do you discuss the dangers to the 1st Amendment while lecturing to the Europeans without ever mentioning what they have already done to our 4th Amendment?
That strikes me as principally a problem with government.
Yes, but it is the government promoting the technology. And promoting it without addressing the violations that have already undermined our Constitution today(702 authorization) or the potential violations with this particular AI technology.
The protections to our Constitution come first.
Components of AI have been in the labs, in business, in industry for decades.
What is your solution? I have seen no recordable evidence of any thought given to that other than apocalyptic “we must stop it now”.
It’s rather like sitting through an eschatological conference for which some of the folks at the table are premillennial, some millennials, some amillennials.
What is your solution?
The solution is simple. Stop the spying on Americans’ personal data. Period, end of story. Fourth Amendment.
Congress can stop the spying on Americans through 702 Authorization, but they refuse to do so. Just like in the above situation, Congress can stop private companies like Google, Apple, MS, Palantir, Open AI and others from scooping up private information to spy on us. Your computer, your phone, your ISP, all have permission to spy.
How long has this been going on? The people we elect to represent us, do the bidding for these private corporations instead of making sure Americans are protected by the Fourth Amendment. End it now because they can.
You are not only asking to allow this technology to be used in this type of environment, but now you want the government to work in collaboration with these companies without affording Americans the right to be safe from this even greater intrusion. You and I will become a slaves with this technology without fighting for our Constitutional rights now.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
That’s a cliche.
I’m speaking to the details. Been trying to nudge you in that direction forever.
Do you start with the premise that AI is going to happen…maybe already here? Or that it needs to be stopped before it ever reaches some point of no return?
It’s a system-of-systems that also lives in a context: our society, our Constitution, our culture, our mixed polity. What of those constituencies who may not agree with your set of guardrails?
I’m chary of Chicken Little posturing.
How and where do you propose to attack the AI ecosystem? I have some ideas. But I’m interested in what the CL crowd has to say. Most of this is going to track a government voted set of guardrails is my guess.
The “at will” crowd vis is full of manure. There are plenty privacy laws already “in the books”. They just aren’t monitored nor enforced very well. They can be expanded and enforced.. That, of course, presupposes independent oversight and everything that brings.
What policies? What will be forbidden, monitored, silo’d, unmonitored? Who provides policy enforcement oversight?
Sensor controls? Who and where? Along with data sharing controls?
Data collection, normalizing, processing, application controls?
Specific legal restrictions on data use?
Control over AI algorithms? Code reviews? Applications?
Control over how private enterprises invest capital in AI R&D and businesses?
Control over academic and business scientific exploration of AI in its various functional areas?
Who performs the societal risk and cost/benefit analyses?
Limits on gov’t data collection in public environments (e.g., parks, highways, airports, etc.)?
Limits on applications of AI by security (including intelligence) agencies? Probably. How specify these? Wi l this inevitably pit lives against freedoms? An old argument that last one, but it nevertheless has to be addressed.
I agree there are significant risks. I’m listening for practicable solutions. I can see some of it already in the privacy domain. Makes sense to me to have strict policies and oversight in intelligence – to the degree that it does not become a temporal danger.
I think much of any proposed changes mean less than dirt unless the judiciary system itself is transformed to a more stare decisis approach.
Again, what’s the plan Stan? I’m onboard so long as the approach isn’t absolutist. And I don’t have to weather CL emotions every post. In that regard, I’m more focused on what’s going on with the South Atlantic Anomaly – though that has a different time frame.
Good Lord, this is not difficult.
There would be no need to worry about this technology if Congress had stepped up and defended the Constitution from these private corporations all along. Instead they did their bidding, so now every time you download an app or install software on your computer, you have to sign a consent form you never read. Same with your cell phone and the software on it. Consent to be spied on.
Congress knows this and this is how they get around it. Look, you signed the consent so they can do whatever was in that consent form you signed. This is the damn problem, and this is the environment they are introducing AI into, one where they can do whatever they want as long as you sign the consent form, only it becomes more and more invasive.
What I am proposing is simple, protect our rights under the Fourth Amendment first and foremost. Everyone is secure in their persons, homes, papers, and effects whether they sign the damn consent or not.
Why? Because the Constitution says so, that’s why.
This is all I’m proposing and I shouldn’t even have to because we send these people to represent us, the people, and defend the Constitution that protects us.
Words have meaning. The Constitution is a contract with we the people and our government. If we don’t fix this first, then the technology will be used for nefarious reasons whether you like it or not, even before we can call for Revolution and a new government. We will have no recourse because they will come after the likes of us who just want our Fourth Amendment rights restored. Can’t have that in this new AI world.
See the problem?
How can the Constitution and it’s words be cliche?
No need for details because if the Constitution was enforced on these companies, then we would never sign up for them to spy on us. Why? Because the companies could never have any language in their consent allowing them to spy on Americans. See, Fourth Amendment protects you from these companies even AI companies.
VP Vance delivered a powerful message to global leaders. All we can hope is that everyone listened and understood. President Trump made an excellent choice with this Vice-President.
Its safety is only as good as the person in control. All it would take is another Obama and we are done.
The problem is not the AI, it’s the Human Beings that input the information. I have no faith in Human Beings.
Do you honestly see another Obama being installed in 4,8 or even 12 years.?
No, the next iteration of evil, will of neccesity look nothing like Obama; his woke ideology is banished to the dustpile of history,…but, give them 20-30 YEARS, and some new, different form of CONmunism,…WILL emerge.
Since Obama most likely came from the CIA and their ilk, who knows?
I for one am not willing to take that chance.
Elon Musk-led group makes surprise bid of nearly $100bn for OpenAI
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/feb/10/elon-musk-open-ai-bid
I’m hoping that AI is smart enough to realize that mankind needs freedom and agency to thrive. Hopefully AI becomes a student of the classics. Perhaps some Ralph Waldo Emerson?
It’s not even CLOSE to that level of development.
Well that is a big risk in my opinion.
Am I the only person here who sees a resemblance between Vance and the Terminator?
Google drops pledge not to use AI for weapons or surveillance.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/02/04/google-ai-policies-weapons-harm/
lmao! All salute the unibrow!
I would feel much more confident about the future if I know that a bonafide conservative trumpian prrsident was elected after Trump and for the foreseeable future.
That means the financial fraud is revealed in its entirety, The vast, unelected criminal enterprise known as democrats went away like the dinosaur and secret organizations like the cia were dissolved and replaced by a secret organization who have oversight and answer to our elected officials.
In other words, I am watching the events unfold as we speak and still evaluating. He talks a good game and we will see what happens.
I’m not hearing a reason to be alarmed by this speech. Doing everything possible to ensure that AI fosters free speech and does not become a tool of oppression is the right path. I get that AI in the wrong hands could surely be oppressive. I also fear that it may reduce many people’s ability to think or create for themselves, from seeing AI as the deus ex machina, and just giving their own ability to think over to it. But AI is coming whether we like it or not. So doing all we can to prevent its abuse and possible negative effects is the right path. We desperately need Asimov’s First Law of Robotics, and President Trump is more likely to get us to it than anyone else.
Would AI be as scarey if we called it super fast sorter comparer and ranking machine.
That is indeed all it is build an abacus big enough and you could do the same thing but really really slowly.
Machine learning just means it compares outcome of ranking based on programed criteria. Then goes back and tries again based on programed parameters. Then reports back best result or results.
If you want “intuitve” learning you loosen the parameters. If you loosen the parameters enough you get ridiculous power consumption. Essentially a toddler putting together a single color 5000 piece puzzle with no edge pieces.
Simple statement:
AI isn’t what you think it is… not yet.
It will be exactly what you it is because people are stupid and WORSHIP FALSE IDOLS.
AI is a FALSE IDOL.
Then I don’t think you followed Vance’s message.
His msg wasn’t pulled out of thin air…right? He spoke to advances in socially beneficial aspects. He addressed (or his speech writers did) both the concerns of the gainsayers (many in his base) and the foreign countries who might undermine what PDJT is working toward.
In my own mind, putting aside all the supposed benefits and risks, PDJT, his technocrat friends and his advisors see this as the big lead item (along with restoration of core/key industries) that propel American GDP now and into the future – despite mounting concerns vis US and global recession on the horizon. They see it as the next Schumpeterian wave of creative destruction. Are they right or wrong? I dunno! But they are clearly all in.
No one is even sure where all the energy to drive the infrastructure is going to come from.
All the benefits of this technology right after we just experienced the largest assault on our freedoms with the Patriot Act and FISA 702 Authorization(Attack on 4th Amendment), not to mention Covid & 2020 election with the largest assault ever on our First Amendment.
Do we have this short of a memory or are we just stupid?
How about the Administration first address how they are going to protect our Constitution and our rights that are derived from that document? Then just maybe we can imagine a world with this technology without living in a full blown surveillance state.
I, for one, am not stupid.
I served for 21 years swearing to uphold the Constitution – what did you do?
I understand the technology. What do you understand about it in depth?
The concerns register with me. I’m just not one to make decisions on vapid rhetoric like yours without substantive, actionable solutions.
What is your solution or set of solutions?
Enforce the Fourth Amendment since you like to toot your horn about what you’ve done upholding the Constitution.
What exactly are you upholding?
Congress has allowed these Fourth Amendment violations for how long? You are the one promoting this technology in this type of environment.
If you are not stupid as you say(I certainly wasn’t addressing just you), then why is this technology more important than your rights that are supposed to be protected by that document you’ve spent years upholding?
Very simple, before you promote a technology that will eventually enslave us all, how about you first address what Congress has failed to do to uphold the Constitution? You know, the one you’ve spent years defending?
Daniel: 100% agreement. AI is “in the know” society’s latest shiny object.
At the end of his speech, he admits AI is a “weapon” — just like a sword — that can be used for good or evil purposes. He speaks of the last 20 years of “tech innovation,” that has allegedly advanced prosperity and good throughout the world.
But he gives short shrift to the suffocating, all-knowing, enslaving capacity of AI as a 24/7 surveillance system, the end result of which will of course be full and complete control of all human beings on earth.
I am LESS confident about the future, MUCH less confident, and I am filled to the brim with trepidation.
All of his tech bros have obviously captured both him and Trump, and they are licking their lips in anticipation of the future billions and trillions of dollars that are of course at stake, along with their insatiable desire to rule the world.
What’s not to like? What are you afraid of, huh?
I agree, sad to believe how many people would give up their freedoms for any technology that leads to a surveillance state.
You can’t have one without the other, but people will try their best to convince themselves that we need this technology for our own protection.
… people would give up their freedoms for any technology that leads to a surveillance state.”
AI is coming. Must it lead to a surveillance state? How can it be prevented?
If your Congressman is still insisting on FISA 702 authorization to spy on you, and our First Amendment was under attack every day during Covid, how could it not lead to a surveillance state?
Don’t ask. Common Sense doesn’t have the self awareness that there are courses of action (not the entire set of options) that bring with them the very controls CS detests: government enforced policies, laws, rules, etc.
The logic of the paradigm does not change: policy, sensing, detection, enforcement.
This isn’t a binary challenge. It’s like any societal problem – a risk management problem. How do we as a society accrue the benefits of AI while minimizing the risks? You know, what’s optimal here?
How far are folks willing to go in government based (that’s what’s being advocated after all) control?
What is the solution set?
There you go again, anything or everything but demanding that our Constitutional rights are protected and defended.
Go back and read the Fourth Amendment, hell read the First before you push a technology that could potentially destroy us.
Why is everything more important than enforcing our Constitution?
Sorry but I think you’re mistaken. Looking at Revelation 18: 23, America is part of “all the nations”. Babylon is just Babylon, but is not America. I suggest reading Isaiah Chapter 21, and also recommend books by the Israeli author, Amir Tsarfati.
My answer to the question at the end of the post is:
Words are cheap so I’m going to reserve judgement until actions demonstrate the reality of things.
In the meantime, all of us are fully justified in not believing a word that comes out of the mouths of the DC swamp creatures.
Starter hardware for AI can be cobbled together for under $2000; I don’t think regulation is going to work.
https://ewintr.nl/posts/2025/building-a-personal-private-ai-computer-on-a-budget/
Constance: AI regulations will “work,” only the sense that such regulations will enable more government control and generate more revenue.
Politicians talking about AI is bad. Politicians talking about AI in Europe is worse.
“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.”― Albert Einstein
Referring to nukes back in the day. Observation remains aposite. Everyone knows that AI will one day soon be put in charge of weapons delivery systems and that is the end of us all. It’s not sentient, it can’t perceive itself, it has no consciousness. But it can be blindingly fast and super accurate every single time, and this gives dum dums the impression of sentience. Look through that and calculate the effects of such systems being in the hands of evil people, because there are a lot of truly evil people with lots of resources who would love that power and abuse it in every way. Aren’t there.
That’s the problem. As a species, we’re not sufficiently spiritually advanced to handle this tech, safely. Some of us could, yes. We could. You could, I could. But most of us? C’mon. Some of us can’t even handle a handgun without hurting someone else. How is the whole of humanity going to treat this weapon?
You’re assuming no man in the loop architecture.
Oh, I feel so much better now, thank you.
Oops, Charlie forgot to mention the Fourth Amendment violations that are already occurring here because of the Patriot Act. I’m certain I never heard JD Vance mention it even one time.
Focus people.
Charlie Kirk is drunk with JD power and praise. Like he personally created and ordained the guy or something.
deleted.
As with the climate change grift, the AI grift will be a justification for absolutely everything.
The US is late to the AI game. Deepseek, created by the Chinese, is an open source platform already available to anyone. It was created at 1/27th the cost of OpenAI.
Exactly.
https://www.unz.com/mwhitney/chinas-deepseek-bombshell-rocks-trumps-500b-ai-boondoggle/
The future will show us this technology, like any and all advancements, will be used AND abused. The degree of abuse, even with early cautionary measures, will be excessive.
In other words, AI is inevitable and so is it’s abuse.
Confidence about the future? Not at all spectacular.
…as all technology So how best to prevent those harms?
Do you feel more or less confident about the future, having watched these remarks?”
Is this a trick question?
Actually, I think JD Vance did fine here… I’m not worried about JD Vance or AI.
AI is going to require a lot of power:
https://www.ogj.com/general-interest/article/55266915/energy-transfer-signs-deal-to-provide-natural-gas-to-proposed-data-center-in-texas?o_eid=0096C4424278D5E&rdx.ident%5Bpull%5D=omeda%7C0096C4424278D5E&utm_campaign=CPS250210065&utm_medium=email&utm_source=OGJ+Daily
AI is coming whether we like it or not. Do I feel more or less comfortable about the future after JD’s remarks? I feel the same as I did five minutes before. Would we feel more comfortable if AI was controlled by China? Hopefully, by the time the Tech Bros are ready to roll with total AI surveillance, MAGA will have full control of the government and we can do our best to control AI. I don’t see any other option and I don’t hear anyone offering another option.
My opinion coincides with his, but independently. Using AI actually makes me feel more creative and a better critical thinker. I have seen the studies that show the opposite is true, but I think it depends on the individual. For myself, it feels like a high-level collaboration.
Let every sentient human being be clear on this! Though AI is an acronym for Artificial Intelligence, AI is not intelligence! AI mimics the human intellect by accessing a virtually unlimited library of science, technology, philosophy, literature and art, then collates and reassembles that intel into forms of expression that appear human…but are not!
It is often said that AI’s unlimited access to nearly all of human experience makes it capable of surpassing the efforts of any Renaissance artist, Newtonian mathematician, chess master or journalist ever born. One AI entity can hold conversations with another AI entity that mimic wisdom, love and the ability to infer the lessons history teaches us in order to predict future outcomes.
But we must remember that those things are the trappings of intelligence, that is not what intelligence is!
Only humans possess that…and only humans are devious enough to pretend the trappings are real!
So the danger inherent in AI come from the humans who will inevitably try to use it to manipulate, control and enslave humanity.
In other words, the danger comes from the globalists!
Sundance asks if I feel more or less confident about the future having watched VP Vance’s remarks, and my answer is more confident…I think.
And thinking is what humans do!
Good post LTB A variation of a Robert Frost poem reads…
Some say the earth will end with Fire,
Some say with Ice
From what I have seen of desire, I will side with fire.
But if it must perish twice
Ice will suffice.”
AI has no fire, it has no desire. Desire, is very humane. AI would not care if it saved 8 billion humans. or exploded earth. It has no real desire, yet pretends to. Tagore stated that the Poet approaches intimately, what the scientist approaches akwardly. AI does not approach it at all, yet pretends to.
We all desire God’s nature, Knowelge, Power, Love. We get into much trouble when we seek it elsewhere then from its source.
My first thought is, does that guy wear eye liner?
Then, I put myself in the audience listening to this guy, another blowhard American politician, and remember he represents a nation that has probably strong armed every nation sitting in that fabulous hall. And past that, a nation that has sullied and toppled anybody that dared to stand up for their own ideals. Who is he to tell us how to think and behave?
We are building a new nation right now, it is our own, and it is badly in need of a moral compass. We have come to learn we have a long history of dark and nefarious deeds perpetrated all over the world.
While it is true we need to project power, and resolve, we had best include a large serving of morality and integrity. All things we sorely lack on the world stage. I leave which comes first with this thought, it is hard to build on sinking sand.
As to Ai (small i by intention) should we be afraid/fearful, I think not. But remember humans are in control. Humans are bound to eff it up. But there is a hope and prayer its development gets off to a start on the right path, by the right people, and then managed by folks with wisdom and integrity.
Ai is a done deal, just like the internet, it will become engrained into our daily lives. Dr McCoy will no longer say “my GOD, these people are barbarians!” It is a brave new world. With Presidents like Trump, I think we will be okay.
If you have machines telling you how to think, what will happen to your brain??
Won’t ever country with AI capabilities control their own AI? Can there be just one controlling entity?
I don’t feel more, or less, confident about the future with AI. The problem with AI, and the producers of AI, is they are not satisfied of taking no for an answer; “No, I don’t want my thermostat spying on me; you told me it was just set up to regulate the temperature in my home and could easily troubleshoot its own system if there was a problem.” That little fine print on the receipt will be crucial.
My refrigerator, thermostat, tvs in my home are not capable, at this point, of spying on me. Same goes for my vehicles.
And with AI technology running everything, stuff will cost an arm and a leg to get it fixed.
How many hundreds of chips are there in a vehicle now?
1,000 thumbs up.
I remember when a refrigerator was an insulated box with a door that sealed, a compressor with evaporator and condenser coils, and some even had a light. They worked flawlessly for decades. Find one now that works for ten years.
please, tell me more about how your thermostat is part of the AI surveillance state while you post all your personal details on Facebook. XD
Appliances as well as thermostats can be controlled by many utility districts. Those who post all their personal details on facebook do so of their own accord. They aren’t forced to do so.
I feel more reassured with Vance but I still have concerns around AI and crypto particularly when it comes to government control and surveillance. I am from Canada and remember the Trucker’s protest where even people who donated to the cause and whose names were made public were fired based on the hysteria generated by the government and its media allies against legitimate, free, grassroots protest. But AI can gather accounts, follow comments and people, and this kind of intelligence that can be given to even democratic governments can really, really, undermine liberty and free flow of ideas ironically. But that said, good comments and he is a good leader although I was not a fan at first
It sounds a lot like, “just the tip, I promise”
You know, the camel nose in the tent
Maybe we will see a Patriot Act Redux?
Zooming in on Ursula during the warning of authoritarian regimes was well timed. At least the camera man gets it.
Saw that, too.
We’re doomed, and now we know why.
Science, engineering, technology are all brought to us by mankind. We all know that there have been so many advancements made that have helped mankind, but there are many things at work with the advancements of technology that have introduced us to the world of gene “therapies” and genetic modifications of plants, animals, and now even the Crispr technology to create the mRNA genetic (modifier ?). We have all witnessed the incredible carnage, injuries, and deaths associated with the COVID shots.
To me this is a denial of our Creator and very dangerous.
When I hear Larry Ellison standing with Sam Altman and President Trump, discussing future A.I. systems being able to map someone’s individual genetics to come up with a “personalized” Cancer vaccine, it scares me.
I agree that A. I. genie is out of the bottle.
Is it something that can be controlled ? Who will be the controllers ? What will the incentives be for the controllers ?
Military’s weaponizing A.I. to improve the efficiency of killing people is already taking place.
Certainly Technology is being used for mankind’s evil intents. Can A. I Technology become evil ?
I learned 2 things about AI. 1) I believe the coding for AI is a mixture of conditional statements probabilities and statistics. 2) The creature (AI) will never be better than the creators (programmers)
Palantir ‘is’ the enemy. Globalists have contingencies, regardless of everything. So, having their bets hedged, or hedging their bets, all that changes are the pawns in their plan. Most Democrat and GOP folks in Congress are in on the $ kick back scheme, and once that cabal starts getting ‘Menendezed’ all hell is gonna break loose.
Many Massachusetts Pols; Fed, State and Local {Mostly Democrats btw}, are guilty of huge fraud, which goes all the way down to local Town employees. For example: A very nice man I know was a sewer cleaner at Town Highway Dept. He retired at 58, hurt his finger/thumb now disabled, with FULL Health Care and a $91,100/yr pension. This is just one example of the ‘Unfunded Liabilities’ facing Towns/Cities/Counties across the USA.
Our Federal Deficit is where all these grifter Pol/Marxist/Leftist/Communist ‘Unfunded Liabilities’ have been hidden. Consulting at Maine DHHS, back in the late 90’s/early 00’s, I saw first hand how these scams worked. Told someone, who I thought was honest and high up enough to matter, about the Madoff Scheme being perpetrated. I was summarily fired the next day, and threatened with a Federal Felony if ever I spoke of what I’d seen. Hope I waited long enough.
This is going to get really violent once all the grifters {and there are Many Millions of them} realize the Gig is Up, like that Black Preacher in Chattanooga TN. Keep Family close, Pray, Grow vegetables, Build and populate a chicken coop, Keep powder dry and Pray.
Vance is a powerful speaker, but he needs to scrub the tic of a rolling start to so many sentences of “now”.
But AI is fundamentally flawed. Biased, “hallucinating”, limited to garbage in garbage out. Programmed to fabricate narratives and falsehoods to fill in gaps. Etc.
Some suggest:
The US government has already been using AI to automate unprecedented quantities of surveillance fusion analytics.
That would mean that now the government starting up a mega AI effort appears to be Big Brother making the next move with AI.
A government funded AI would likely be deployed to manipulate perceptions – a more powerful tool to increase what is already being done.
Or should we say “will be”.
I am all for a proper audit AI surveiling the government though. However, demand that people keep cash .
Peter Thiel and Palantir’s development of facial recognition systems, total surveillance systems, biometric I.D. systems all are moving us towards a system of zero privacy and total control. Tracking, monitoring, videos of everywhere we go, everything we do. All of this combined with A.I. creates a place where our freedoms and liberties will be gone. A digital system of conducting transactions and the elimination of cash will complete the total control systems.
Every God fearing human being should be very concerned.
Our Father in Heaven sits on His Throne. I have no fear.
Weizenbaum, Joseph (1976). Computer Power and Human Reason: From Judgment To Calculation. He wrote ELIZA, an early chat bot type therapist based upon the rules of language. Many were convinced it was intelligent. A better name for AI might be UT (Useful Tool).
Quick notes
Not here to talk about safety, but to talk about opportunity
Breakthrough in tech gives us the opportunity to do the opposite of danger
Four Points on US. administration’s goal
US is the leader in AI. Our administration plans to keep it that way
I did not have the time to summarize the rest of the talk, but he is basically saying (my paraphrase) . US has the best teams and technology. We have the best environment to foster it for both big and little countries. We are going to use it to support our people, our labor force, our wealth and strength. We will safeguard share and cooperate with the rest of the world in developing it to be used for good. We are going to lead and stay the leader.
So we are not in favor of letting an international body “regulate” and stifle the opportunity to keep good purposes on the cutting edge. It is those in an already strong position of advantage that are calling for “safety” which will slow down the progress of others. This is against the goals of the US and what the US can do for the world.
Close: Beautiful Country. Saw the sword of Lafayette Beautiful civilization we have forged together
Sword can be dangerous, but can be used to hold peace
Point: Focus on opportunity to use AI to improve the well being of our nation, not hurt
US will not squander the opportunity
My personal thoughts: Pretty ballsy, but consistent with the Trump Doctrine, and would explain trump rounding up the tech leaders in this country and bringing them all to the same table.
He beats the Globalist drum very well.
Vance describes the globalist dream as though it is America’s dream. It is not.
Listening to him I can understand why other nations hate America: we’ll create the gold standard and you can play with us if you want to!
Inhibition of creativity/ innovation: when the bully allows others to join in but retains control and takes all the glory.
With respect to non-corrupted person in the tech sector, I hope AI implodes – bigly.
