The sub-heading tells the story. It is essentially, a predictable outcome, a conversation we began here several months ago.
...”At the Education Department, the [DOGE] team has turned to artificial intelligence to hunt for potential spending cuts — part of a broader plan to deploy the technology across the federal government.”… (link)
The tone of the Washington Post article is about Musk and DOGE potentially violating privacy rules by extracting data held within the U.S. Dept of Education. However, if you take out the narrative engineering political part, what you are left with is the core issue we have discussed. The tech team approach is to pull the govt data into their AI model and use the modeling to evaluate efficiency.
WASHINGTON DC – […] The DOGE team is using AI software accessed through Microsoft’s cloud computing service Azure to pore over every dollar of money the department disburses, from contracts to grants to work trip expenses, one of the people said. Lower-level department staffers were directed by agency leadership to let Musk’s teams access the sensitive financial data, the person said.
The use of AI inside the Education Department, which has not previously been reported, shows how Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, which includes former employees from his tech empire, is tapping the favorite tool of Silicon Valley as part of its mission to drastically slash the size and functions of the federal government. {READ MORE}
I’m sure there is some value in this process. In fact, I am certain that utilization of enhanced algorithmic AI software to streamline government data systems does hold merit. However, that’s not the big picture issue that concerns CTH. {GO DEEP}
Time is short, so rather than continue repeating the previous background, let me cut to the chase.
Everything we see unfolding, from the Tech Bro alignment with Trump, to the network of influence after the election, to the selection and advisement of specific individuals to join the administration, all the way to the first-round expose’ of USAID, should be looked upon with a background forecast.
(1) gaining access to govt data was the goal; (2) monetizing the system with proprietary AI contracts (vis-a-vis Palantir) is the benefit; (3) however, a national security justified surveillance state is going to be the outcome.
As people are shocked at the USAID spending scandal unfolding, I would posit the USAID silo was chosen first for DOGE exploration specifically because the subsequent outrage would gain the highest amount of public support for the pending solution. It’s the pending solution to the crisis that we should be very focused on.
The USAID/CIA bad stuff was well known, just not to the larger public. DOGE provided the receipts, which engages the larger public.
♦ THE CRISIS, USAID: – “You don’t think that every Chair and committee person on the foreign relations and foreign affairs committees, on both the left and right side of all of this didn’t know about USAID? You actually believe the govt oversight committees were unaware of what USAID was doing?
C’mon… There’s a reason we kept saying it’s worse than anyone could fathom.
Will we see frog marches and arrests of everyone from Samantha Power to Jim Jordan to Bill and Hillary to every recipient of the Bush funeral envelopes?
Absent that kind of public accountability, they will just reconstitute into a system that will come from the outrage reaction of the American people.
That’s the baseline behind the DC apoplexy. The entire system and every participant within it are corrupt, enabling, willfully blind, financial beneficiaries of the grift… all of it.
And they pulled off the 2020 election steal, railroaded Trump, dragged him into the lawfare machine, tried to kill him…. BECAUSE the alternative was WHAT WE ARE NOW WITNESSING.”
♦ THE SOLUTION – “The Govt, writ large, is now in crisis. You know what comes next…. the govt solution.
A pattern repeats. However, this time STOP.
Just STOP, before listening to their solution.
Their solution will never be about US, it will always be about THEM; what’s in their best interests. That’s their focus, not us, them.
Failing to STOP after the crisis in the past always ended up with acceptance of their solution. Now we take off our shoes at the airport, go through body scans, accept pat-downs, wear masks, accept sketchy vaccines, click yes on 5,000-word terms of service for privacy statements we never read, and generally accept the all-encompassing surveillance state; none of which is grounded upon liberty or freedom. It’s all based on their control.
Yes, the Govt is in crisis, and just as sure as you are reading this, the administrators within the IC already have the solution ready to roll.”
♦ RESULT – “We will use advanced technology and non-partisan AI programming, to make the government more efficient and ensure this level of corruption and wasteful spending never happens again.”
Every dollar will be tracked, monitored and oversight will be transparent and available for everyone to see. Just ignore the part where the same efficiency system is monitoring your real ID, connecting your personage to the new govt and private sector interfaces, and click “I agree” on your next federal tax filing. Trust us Comrade citizen, the new technologically advanced DODGE approved govt system cares about responsible stewardship and you. Swear.”
The process starts by downloading government data to an AI enhanced database for review and filtration.
On Christmas Day last year, CTH predicted exactly this scenario {SEE HERE}; only we took it forward to its logical conclusion. You know, the part no one thinks about until the weapon is created.
Then, less than a month later, as soon as he is confirmed, Director John Ratcliffe says the CIA and Intelligence Community will work with Silicon Valley tech teams to develop best in class AI systems, using references from prior nuclear weapon development, “The Manhattan Project.”
Then, suddenly, as if on cue, this pops up:
[Source]
Good Stuff – […] Trump created DOGE through a day one executive order with a stated mission to cut government waste. Musk and his aides have assumed control of federal IT infrastructure as his team swiftly blitzes through departments and agencies. Trump, with Musk’s guidance, this week gutted the United States Agency for International Development and merged it into the State Department. The president has signaled he might try to eliminate the Department of Education by executive order next.
“They’re putting a shot across the administrative state’s bow,” Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist, said last week of the mass federal buyout plan on his “War Room” podcast. “That’s DOGE signaling to you that they’ve got a plan of how to take the personnel down.”
[…] Federal employees who want to remain in the federal workforce were told in the “Fork in the Road” email they must return to in-person work, embrace new “performance standards” and be “reliable, loyal and trustworthy” in their work. The email also warned that most federal departments and agencies will be “downsized through restructurings, realignments, and reductions in force.”
On Tuesday, the buyout offer was extended to nearly all employees of the Central Intelligence Agency.
Some federal employees said they were alarmed at the short timeframe they were given to make their decisions.
“I have invested way too much time and energy and interest into my career to just say, ‘hell with it’ and leave when I only have, like, five to 10 years left before I retire,” one federal worker said. “I’m not taking the resigning bait. So, I guess I’ll essentially just ride down with the ship if they decide to get rid of us,” the worker added, though he acknowledged some less experienced colleagues might take the buyout. (more)
The streamlining and downsizing of government through the use of AI systems is a good thing, perhaps a very good thing. However, watch out for deployment into the DHS apparatus because that will give rise to the newly expanded Surveillance State.
Peaceniks don’t build bombs; and those who genuinely believe in liberty do not build nor support domestic surveillance networks that can be weaponized depending on who is in power.

Didn’t Trump say something about the possibility that the ‘rabbit’ had already gotten out, or something to that effect? The issue is certainly two sided….the pros with having AI quickly dealing with the excess i n government, which most people are aligned with. The cons are what happens next. And thus far, I don’t hear any discussion of a solution as to how the brakes are put on this, once the excess (or swamp) is drained.
I appreciate the sentiment here. That said, there is no putting this technology back in the bottle. So take heart that for the moment we are on the team that seems mostly aligned with getting the country back to normal.

This is the Government Accountability Office Building.
These guys are supposed to do what DOGE does.
They currently employ 3,275 people.
They do nothing.
DOGE employs, like… 20.

Yes. If it were all about cost it’s worth remembering that Bill Clinton let >350,000 fed employees go and essentially balanced the budget. And he did it without AI.
I pray Donald Trump has a strategy to ride this dragon.
Congress could pass legislation that limits searches to following government payments-excluding Medicare or Social Security payments (although surely those agencies surely already have systems in place to detect fraud among recipients-AI may make it work better).
They could pass legislation giving teeth to existing limits on surveillance that violates the 4th Amendment. DOJ could take the 10s of thousands of illegal searches by the likes of Nellie Ohr and set examples by prosecuting those illegal searchers. For future violators, make each illegal search a felony punishable by a minimum of 10 years in prison. Train the AI to do good works like identifying illegal searches and prosecute every single case until the lawless culture changes in the IC.
The capacity of AI to do bad is here and it’s terrifying. At this point, we need to focus on limiting its use to surveilling the government and other bad actors, as well as national defense. For loopholes and BS national security excuses for illegal searches, see 10 year minimum sentences above.
Sundance, I agree with you about all of this, but let me add that I believe the train has already left the station. We have seen it in the Red Sea: the Houthis launch a drone that costs a few thousand, and we launch a missile to knock it down that costs a million plus. On the plains of Ukraine, drones are reducing tanks and armored personnel carriers to death traps. How long will it be before our aircraft carriers are as obsolete as muskets? We cannot avoid going down this path because adversaries like the PRC are doing so, and will militarize the results to gain strategic advantage at our expense. This is one of the constants in human history: technological advances will always end up in the service of military applications.
So the obvious counterpoint becomes
If this is inevitable it’s a better outcome that Trump and Musk (and Thiel) do it.
I think this tech is as dangerous as the Manhattan project….
The Migration Project is lower-tech than Build Borders Better.
In the US you have a higher chance of being being killed by migrant mooches, trans-pharma political cults, and/or public health pimps with or without AI.

Musk: If AI is politically correct, it might turn on humanity.

This is something else I am asking. We were going to get an AI controlled surveillance state from the left or from the right.
Is it somehow more palatable since it’s not the Satanic Pedo Cult that is running it?
It looks to me like the people really have no choice. We are getting social credit scores and an AI controlled surveillance state the only choice we get is who controls that apparatus.
Trump was given to us as a way to make us more accepting of this outcome. All the fraud exposure is a distraction.
The Deep State allows all this to occur because they no longer need those entities. USAID. Red vs. Blue. Those were all temporary systems designed to get us to this point in time as guided by ancient secret families from time immemorial. Obama, Clinton, Bush…sure arrest any of them. Have real or fake trials like the first Nuremberg trials which were faked justice.
Give the people clamoring for justice what they want. It matters not. All of those booster rockets served their purpose. They are no longer needed. This surveillance state was always the goal. And it is here. Our only choice is who implements it.
Sorry to say. God have mercy.
Oy! Not good.
It’s the precursor to the beast system of Revelation. Time for everyone to get right with God if you haven’t yet.
There’s no time like the present moment to get right with God.
I’m not as worried about the surveillance state as I am about the godless who will be in charge.
If there is awareness of God as the Divine Creator and ruler of man and the universe, men will not set themselves up as demigods.
Fear of the Lord keeps base ambitions in check. Humanity will have to acknowledge other mortal beings are not God and their authority is limited by omnipotent God Himself.
Even President Trump and all his army of reformers must bow down to the Almighty.
I agree. When I walked into to teach my first class at UCLA in 1974, I told the students that I would make two flat predictions on the basis of reading Thucydides. The first was that the Soviet Union would be gone by 2000, destroyed by its inability economically to offset the yearning for autonomy in an imperial state that harbored 169 different languages within its boundaries.
The second was that the United States would be gone by 2025, destroyed by a runaway technology freight train that would make this country the first in history to be equipped with the tools effectively to enslave the masses. George Orwell and Ayn Rand had it right.
No, worse, Manhattan project could have killed people, this will enslave us.
advances
Seeing is believing.
You are exacting on target. I was genuinely shock yesterday reading about Iran’s new drone carrier. U.S. technology even from Trump 1.0 is already obsolete. It is no longer true that bigger is better. Small versatile drones are the next generation six shooter. We best be adapting. A more streamlined command structure focused on peace through strength and liberty should ensure deserved international respect.

“I’m concerned that the House and Senate will fully fund USAID in March, just like we did in December (I voted No).
The argument from Republican leadership will be that they need Democrat votes to pass an omnibus (or CR) bill to avoid a government shutdown.”
Shut it down. Do like the Dem administrations have done in the past, selectively shut it down. But let’s add a twist, no back pay.
If the “Republican” Controlled House and Senate RETURN to regular order budget approvals and put in place the proper rules … the democrats will NOT be needed.
No related foreign aid budget lines in the President’s Budget proposal (due March 2025) means there is nothing to approve funds against … duh.
Paging Mike Johnson and Senator Thune … time to show if you have pair.
The key to AI driven search Engines is the criteria and search terms used to produce findings … just like any Database query tool. These types of Database queries and multiple decision branch traces are smack in the wheelhouse of AI type algorithms.
Also, since “aid and benefit payouts” have finite ends … AI decision branch capabilities would also be a quick way to lay out organizational proposals for efficiency…hence the 40,000 to 1,000 employee USAID proposal discussed in the media today.
The fun part is that somebody “from the inside or who was on the inside and now part of DOGE” has to be helping write the rules used by the search engines … as the DOGE engineers need inputs on what exactly to “look for”, to ad to the search rules they write…e.g. the 2+ Treasury Employees, helping DOGE, “allowed” to look at stuff by the Federal Judge.
By the way … this also goes for the alarms and alerts being used to point out CORRUPTION or a potential path and location for corruption.
Add a list of names to the list .. like say Members of Congress, a few leftist Billionaires, et al … just think of the fun and leverage.
This is the kind of stuff I was helping develop when the US Army was working to automate its INTEL and OPORDER generating systems to better meet the decision loop time at operational and tactical levels of command.
I don’t know if AI can find ghosts in the machine.
This is the kind of stuff dreams are made of.
All prospective DOGE employees should have to pass a test where they solve the riddle of how money traveled from our paychecks to a certain 3 mansions in Georgetown, Hawaii and Martha’s Vineyard
Hope DOGE connects with IRS because IRS for the past 20+ years has admitted they can actually ID the fraudulent returns where Millions have been paid out in refunds and credits and IRS still let the funds be paid out … that includes Illegal Immigrants returns.
Plus as a reminder:
Social Security – Medicare – Medicaid are ALL Linked together within the US Government via linked funds, loans from Medicare to Medicaid for Medicaid expansion as well as the linking of Medicare to Medicaid for depending on ones income.
IF one knows their data, it’s really not a ‘miracle moment’ that isolates patterns & outliers.
A lot of incidences may fall to the left or right of the bell curve, but one can ignore much of the data that doesn’t.
Sure socsec is 9 digits long, but that’s not insurmountable in a set of 350 million individuals.
And whatever the rules may be, we’re pretty sure they weren’t assigned completely randomly.
And any number could be only 1 of 10 possibilities.
Numeric search tools have been good for years. Not a big (scary) deal.
If AI software can crank out potential bad nums faster , w/ no coffee breaks, have at it!
It is soaking in. The Deep State can apply this DOGE technology to your cell phone, to your computer, to your car, to your bank account. They can have people they are worried about and apply it and hoover up any and all contacts. And how fast DOGE is moving the spying can move that fast also. Apply this technology to your face and bad folks’ faces and you can see every contact with all the cameras that are everywhere. Holy Cow.
There is no “can” about it. The DEEP STATE and their associates have been doing it for years…to track us and prepare for the social report card function to be activated. It’s the only way one world currency and control can work.
The actual change here is that GOOD GUYS have “caught on” and are using it to fix stuff and find bad guys.

AI isn’t AI at all. It’s just statistical pattern matching algorithms. That’s pretty much it. It just look intelligent when it spits out readable output after finding patterns in mountains of existing data based on your request.
Think of it as a database that defines an N-dimensional space, the data is tagged with coordinates, and vector math works in it.
Graph analytics required data scientists to develop models and populate the data.
Instead, raw data is ingested into the n-space, and can be looked as population clouds and deviations from local cloud norms.
I’m aware of the threat that SD points out, but the socialists have woven such a complicated network between USAID, NGOs, socialist organizations, media, etc that it will take AI to unravel it all in a timely manner.
Have you ever seen the 3-D models used to analyze networks of people/groups? That’s the exact technology that we need to follow the money trails in and out of USAID and beyond, to include every facet of the government.
A three-year investigation into the network will only ensure that it survives PDJT47, so we must have rapid results. The socialists might be stupid but they’re also crafty, and if we give them time to conjure up nonsense legal challenges before all the rot is exposed, the DOGE guided missile aimed at USAID’s heart will fail.
So…the question I have: Is Trump part of this plan or oblivious to it?
Remember Bush sold us the Patriot Act.
Is the wall on the southern border to keep others out…or to keep us in?
The question has to be asked.
Bush was always a part of the New World Order. His father introduced the term.
You can’t have a country without a secure border. And if America falls, where would you go?
Agree with that. You can’t. I just am looking down the road at how it will likely be used. 2A is likely worthless for its original intended purpose(thwarting a totalitarian state) in a world of AI or remote controlled drones with weapons scanners.
I have read that President Trump, after the attempts on his life, literally began thinking in weeks and days, instead of years. My opinion is that he knows very well – and is intently focused – on the great necessity for speed in order to accomplish as much as possible as quickly as possible!
Free* Government Money With Matthew Lesko!
This is a quandary. The work and tools used by DOGE are clearly valuable in shining light into the corruption of our government. For that we should be thankful and look to continue using those tools. I mean, now they are digging into the CFPB and Lizzie’s graft. We can’t not use these tools (wow a double negative) – We have to use these tools. The question is, how do we monitor their use when they surveil citizens in violation of constitutional rights. That is going to be the key. There will have to be oversight of some type. Logging every access of data and step in the process? Having a DOGE to oversee and look at the searches and analysis of this DOGE? We have to have transparency into all of these operations, including DOGE. And then, when we find someone doing something wrong, they have to be severely punished.
This has always been the problem. The Patriot Act is an example of a purportedly good set of tools (it wasn’t as it didn’t have the protections needed) that was corrupted by Obama/Holder. Until someone is severely punished for this, it will continue. We have to find a solution.
Another thought. The atomic/hydrogen bomb has the potential to end life on earth. So far we have controlled it. AI may well have the potential to end life on earth or at least end freedom on earth. We have to figure out how to control it just like the bomb.
To make a takeover more complete, am beginning to think after the USAID revelations that Trump should finagle a National Emergency (due to lack of effective Congressional Oversight for decades) and so cause a Recess for maximum time allowed during which all major national expenditures will be audited, including those in Congress and Judiciary, also featuring, where warranted by direct evidence of fraudulent expenditure practices, full investigations leading to criminal indictments of any involved in any branch.
A great AI Reset will be much easier to effect if they get all three branches of government essentially prostrate.
No.
Is this hopeless – or – is there a different solution that we should be promoting before the offer of “salvation?”
I don’t know what to offer other than: stay out of my business.
Uphold the constitution. It’s really that simple.
Isn’t Trump upholding the Constitution as he helps build our enslavement?
NOT mentioned is that Congress use to do this sort of thing back in the day of Newt. Then along came a phony war and annual CR’s.
So what is the play then? Musk clears all the overcharging and waste to add his own contracts to fill the void? That sounds bananas to me. Do I want him or his org having our data? No. Do you suppose that he does not already have oceans of personal data that we do not want him to possess? I figure that most companies have scraped, stolen, bought, or just plain old captured most of our most sensitive data. That is the era we live in.
Yes, that genie left the bottle a long time ago. The battle now is what are we going to let them do with it? A social credit system with digital currency is their goal. That’s what we need to stimy.
The data becomes stale very quickly, and pruning is a rough and intensive task.
If the justifications for privacy intrusions (ie tax validation) are eliminated, and the knowledge base is not updated, archived snapshots will become less useful over time.
All said, the DOGE knowledge balls should be secured very tightly, and destroyed after completion of their purpose.
Given all of this has been suspected for along while, where has the Congressional Oversight been ? Yes, the Inspector Generals have been derelict in their duty…. but, they have been appointed by Congress. So again, the question, where have Congressional Oversite been! (rhetorical question)
We all know the problem…. need to get re-elected, lots of money sloshing around, the press gets coopted etc etc etc. But, this is to be expected given human nature….. only answer SMALLER GOVERNMENT…..
I hope Musk cleans the Social Security roles, stop paying dead people, and everyone over 100 years old ( if they are alive bring yourself and positive proof of identity to SS office). Identify all illegal border crossers and temp visa babies that went back to China: segregate their social security number as ?? Must verify citizenship of parents.
Much like the twitter files, only a fraction of the full truth is being released and there is no doubt there are other things going on that the deluge is distracting from – distracting not only the people, but the DS as well.
One thing previous left unsaid is one of the possible outcomes from the use of AI to unravel the massive ball of spending twine – both PDJT and many citizens will now look at it as a wonderful shiny object that can keep them ‘safe’, protecting them from financial abuses…just like the Patriot Act was alleged to be for, only that time it was to keep us ‘safe’ from ‘external’ terrorists – but we all know it was turned internally to citizens who don’t toe the totalitarian’s line.
People should open their eyes, ears, and minds – look upon the events taking place – and then imagine a far greater set of similar tools being used to poke into every nook and cranny of their lives and everyone else’s, effectively rendering the 4th and other rights dead and tracking their every breath.
There have always been serfs and lords. The current discussion is about degree. When oligarchs become too oppressive the people rebel. That is what is happening now. If the current regime overshoots in their effort to correct the ‘Biden’ fiasco the people will pull them back. The undershoot/overshoot wave signature will damp eventually. This may be a multi-generational chore.
“ The DOGE team is using AI software accessed through Microsoft’s cloud computing service Azure to pore over every dollar of money the department disburses, from contracts to grants to work trip expenses, one of the people said.”
You mean Microsoft (ala: Bill Gates) had our social security information BEFORE Elon Musk on a cloud based server!?!?!?
Sundance are you saying we should ignore everything positive about Donald Trump and just focus on him trying to put us into 15 minute cities with continuous surveillance?
This implies Donald Trump’s whole presentation of himself has been one big PSYOP and the only people who didn’t recognize it are US, his supporters.
Are you really saying this, after all Trump has already done for the American people?
