Rand Paul is the newly appointed Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. In this interview with Maria Bartiromo, Senator Rand Paul gives his perspective on the looming issue of the debt ceiling needing to be raised.
As Senator Paul outlines, extending and making the Trump tax cuts permanent is a priority. If the congressional spending bill, which will include the need to extend the debt ceiling, is attached to true structural reform on government (the mission of DOGE), then it makes the issue of the debt ceiling much easier to support. This is the legislative position of President Trump.
Additionally, Rand Paul expresses full support for each of the cabinet nominations put forth by President-elect Trump. Chairman Paul will control the nomination process for Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and OMB Director Russell Vaught, and promises quick committee work on those nominations. WATCH:

36, 37, 38, 39…. we are at -36.25*10^11 dollars thereabouts. Sagan numbers.
Don’t worry, the Universe is flat.
It is flat wherever I stand! AND every tool I use to level things agrees; never saw a ‘curve’ on the horizon either.
Outer space is the only place to see roundness; on earth every inch is provably flat.
When we walk up to the top of the 500′ headland near our home and look out over the ocean, we have an uninterrupted 180 degree view of the ocean – north, east and south. The horizon directly east is distant. North and south has the horizon curving until it meets our sandy shores. From my hazy school geometry, we are standing in a small half circle of the curvature of the Earth.
I thought it was saddle shaped.
Only to Texans.😎

Some observe that the US profoundly changed, from a leading industrial/scientific power, to a deindustrialized vestige permeated with supplanting corruptions including DIE and “healthcare” woven with neo-Marxism, all dependent on the debt-funded government overspending, and there is no return.
Cut the Stage 4 metastasis off from nutrients and oxygen, and the patient dies.
Can Trump save us?
Some have posited that Trump is apparently rotating back in to the driver’s seat to drive the system to an even more “loaded” condition so that the coming pivot will be even more complete. All signs align with this observation, including his push to raise the debt ceiling.
Pivot to what? To answer that question, consider:
Why would a deindustrialized US with a depleted military be pushing for major war?
Would major war provide a pretext for “resolving” the debt and “suspending” the Bill of Rights?
If the industrially-and-militarily-weak US was forced to capitulate to bRiCs+ in major war, with the US sovereign debt and the Bill of Rights gone, what would the subsequent end state look like? That’s the key to see where things are heading.
Note how Trump changed on Ukraine:
“I’ll end the war on day one.”
to
“I’ll start negotiations on day one.”
to
“There will be no change in US support, and we will make NATO pay more to help.”
Trump’s promise to end the war on day one was believable, because all he has to do is end support and it ends. What’s going on now?
No, Trump cannot save us, only Jesus can. However, if Trump can reverse the devastating outsourcing that has destroyed our country, and reverse the interfering war machine we have become, that would go a long way to restoring American. That’s what I voted for.
Amen.
Day 1 requires confirmations. The senate is hell bent on continuing their Ukraine slaughter house/slush fund.
It’s a simple matter of priorities.
Ron Paul for Speaker!! He was right decades ago. That would fuse the Libertarians and Republicans forever.
This is good news!
I hope they don’t confirm Noem, is she’s a lying globalist phony, unfit for public office.
All negatives and zero positives.
Philanderer -if women can be such a thing.
The DOGE team needs to chalk up some big wins starting immediately on January 20th. If they do, and the American people have confidence that they will continue for four years, the debt ceiling issue becomes far less of a political issue than it was when every debt ceiling increase was accompanied by increased spending.
“If we had a Speaker with a spine”
TRUTH 💪
Trump will likely go after that “carried interest” tax dodge, which the Uniparty blocked him on last time. Some say it’s not much money, but it’s unfair to us, and the hedgefunders and mini-BlackRocks all love it, so I don’t.
Probably a few other sacred cows will get gored in the tax bill. McConnell will work overtime to protect them.
Go after the medical monopolies with 100 year old anti-trust laws and save Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. No congress needed.
Yeah, we could use a serious antitrust blitzkrieg, everywhere.
Trump’s new tech buddies wouldn’t like what I’d do to them.
Basically impossible though. DoJ and the courts are too corrupt. It’d take 20 years to clean that up and start proper antitrust.
DEATH TO BLACKROCK
The magic word is ‘budget’ We have to have a budget; it is the starting point of all economic strategy.
Doing math, you’re looking for the answer; with a budget you have the answer and need a plan, formula, and the expertise to follow it.
I stand with Rand!
So what has Rand Paul done – actually done – to promote his perspective among (1) his fellow senators, (2) among his constituents and (3) in supporting senatorial (and even house) candidates that align with his perspectives?
Talking about what might be an reasonable and admirable objective in a legislative body that is not aligned is nothing but pie in the sky….more pretrending.
Is Rand Paul a real MAGA hero? Let us remember Trump’s first term. There are 100 Senators in the US Senate. Rand Paul was among that 100. Trump was denied recess appointments by 100% of the Senators in the Senate at that time. Under Senate rules, one Senator, just one, could have stood up and said that he/she disagreed and Trump could have made recess appointments. Did Rand Paul do that? Hell no! He stood with his uniparty, swamp rat buddies and denied recess appointments to a president for the first time in the history of the US Senate. Rand Paul is just another backstabbing Republican Against Trump (R.A.T.). And so is every one of those Senators still there from Trump’s first term. Never forget!
See my prior question asking what Mr. Principles has done. So I agree with your assessment of Paul.
