The Office of the Inspector General for the DOJ (DOJ-OIG) has outlined an 88-page report on events around the January 6th, 2021, DC protest. The report is AVAILABLE HERE.
FBI Director Chris Wray announced his decision to resign from office one day before the Inspector General report was released. The report shows that 26 FBI Confidential Human Sources (CHSs) were used officially and unofficially during the J6 events. Four entered the Capitol building, another 13 entered the restricted area around the building.
The report found that no official FBI employees participated in the events, but 26 confidential human sources were used. The media are jumping on the part about no FBI employees being present in order to call those who view the FBI as facilitating and coordinating the events of J6 as “conspiracy theorists.” However, the FBI’s use of CHSs is downplayed and dismissed.
A major topline takeaway from the report in general is how much effort the FBI put into investigating the assembly pre J6. When you read the IG explanation of the CHSs [Page 50 and beyond] you get a really good feel for how the FBI was focused and positioned before the day unfolded.
The FBI was communicating with various field offices about many of the attendees prior to January 6th, yet the IG report outlines a point of failure that the FBI did not debrief more sources before the events of the day. There’s a weird disconnect between those two conflicting points.
We have previously outlined the true mission of the FBI and how it is structurally different from the public perception of their mission. The FBI look out for the interests of the people in the business of DC politics. The FBI are like congressional and administrative agency security officers for the government. If a threat is not a threat to the DC system per se’, it is not considered a threat.
The identified threat to DC in the days post 2020 election was not a protest. The perceived threat they worried about stemmed from a manipulated and stolen election. The FBI resources were already deployed extensively in the period from November to January in an effort to mitigate the risks and exposures. The media narrative around the 2020 election was as manipulative as the fence Pelosi put up to support it after J6.

Question: How many of the CHS/agents of the FBI, who had penetrated the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and other groups, were there on J6 to make sure that the fed-surrection went off as Pelosi/Pence/McConnell needed?
The leader of the Proud Boys wasn’t even there (suspected that it was a setup) and was still prosecuted! This IG report is a big coverup. They’re not even admitting to 10% of their involvement in J6.

I really can’t say or believe that Inspector General Michael Horowitz is dishonest. If you can believe it, Chris Wray really did have a say on what was included in the latest Horowitz report.
In my time as an auditor, it was called ” report processing ” which is a form of negotiation about what is published in the final report. Wray and his staff were most likely successful in some kind of arm/keyboard wrestling with IG Horowitz in reducing the number of Confidential Human Sources on J6 from 226 to 26 in the final report. We will never know unless someone above Horowitz’s paygrade asks for the comments. Its in the audit file.
Funny the way it is when you think about it, Wray announced his retirement just a day or so before this IG report came out. At this point, would love to know who recommended Wray to President Trump. Really though, why bother?
But don’t worry about Wray. US Taxpayer’s will be paying for his cushy retirement for as long as he lives. He will most likely also have many sleepless nights waiting for the Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, and Peter Navarro treatment. Or some sort of similar scenario.
In my mind, he is so much dirtier than Horowitz could ever be. But then again, I know what the vetting process is to even become an IG, let alone an auditor. Talk about having your underwear drawer gone through. Still brings me the chills to think about.
I also cannot recall who recently recommended that ALL IG agencies should become ONE. Have their PEERS review the results of their work as to whether it stands, rather than giving the “auditee” the opportunity to argue against the results of an audit. The tweaking of the facts to the liking of an auditee is STOOPID.

When a reasonable person contrasts all the evidentiary statements(texts, notes, interviews, congressional testimony, and other comms) it appears blindingly obvious that this whole sordid affair was politically motivated.
The provably erroneous conclusions regarding the motives of various officials, drawn by the report, only resulted in emboldening bad faith players further, within an already tarnished FBI.

Just want to make a note. They are using wordsmithing here. The use of the word UNDERCOVER is where they get you. UNDERCOVER is a specific thing, whereby the agent is pretending to be another person in an investigation. That isn’t the same as just dressing up as a Trump supporter and milling about in the crowd. So, while most think this sentence means there weren’t any FBI agents masquerading there, it doesn’t say that. It just says no UNDERCOVER agents were there.
Rather than “Undercover”, I would like to use the phrase, “Paid by an agency of the State or Federal government for their presence at the event”.
I’ll take an opposing stance just for fun, although it is just as damning to the FBI if one takes this stance.
Think of what the FBI’s job is as the “premiere law enforcement agency” in America. Think of all the intel all the police and intel agencies allegedly received and developed prior to J6.

And there have been 100’s of FBI agents involved in investigating the “J6 insurrection”. But no agents or undercover agents were actually present during this very same “insurrection”?
Knowing what they say they knew beforehand, that would be an absolute and total dereliction of duty! They use undercover and regular agents for many other aspects of their “mission”, why would they not for this?

Were any of the defendents that went to trial on these cases provided with any associated LEO operational plans etc? Or were any of the assets allowed to be cross examined? Defense counsel should have asked for this type of information pursuant to the discovery process even if the government has an obligation to turn over any and all relavent documents.
