As a whole, the White House is quite lavishly decorated. It’s obvious the staff put a great deal of thought, time and energy into the decorations.
There’s something for everyone.
See for yourself.
I’ll grant you some of the rooms are decorated with restraint. Others are a bit of a Christmas explosion.
But there is a sort of overall exuberance that is unexpected, a sort of pent up energy suddenly released in an overflow of Christmas spirit.
I think of the staff, as if suddenly realizing, it is Christmas again. And we all received an early gift.

And regarding abortion, while I greatly admire Melania Trump, she made VERY clear in her recent biography that she is firmly in the “Pro-Choice” camp and considers abortion to simply be a personal health decision that any woman should be free to make at any point in her pregnancy…disappointing for sure, especially since she is supposedly a devout Catholic?
Her position on abortion is VERY puzzling to me. I just do not understand how any Catholic can hold that view. It was a blow to my respect for Melania when she stated she was pro-choice.
I felt the same way… Very sad and somewhat disappointed, TBH!
But, I also, sadly, know a fair number of people who consider themselves to be “good” Catholics who hold the same position as Melania Trump on this particular issue.
The fact that the Vatican does not take stronger stance and insist that communion be withheld from people who publicly hold such opinions is also puzzling to me, but I suspect that it has to do with money and politics, unfortunately!
Her position on abortion doesn’t puzzle me; I assume she understands the historical relationship between the US government as it was intended and founded, and abortion. The modern role government has assumed that allows it to force citizens to pay for a morally reprehensible practice and its advocacy through forced taxation and threats of legal action if they oppose it shapes many people’s current opinions on it.
The real issue is that citizens who believe abortion is morally wrong are being forced to pay for and facilitate it in numerous ways. The argument that citizens do not have the right to cherry pick which government-funded programs their individual taxes will support is a false one. The question is why is government funding its advocacy and practice at all.
Calling it “health care” is partly true and one of the entanglements that protects all forms of abortion, but being an elective procedure in most cases, it’s no more “health care” than is a cosmetic enhancement procedure, as opposed to a post-trauma restorative one.
I have never understood, and never will, how killing one’s baby constitutes a legal, morally correct, and ethical “personal choice” by the mother, or — in the vast majority of cases — how ridding one of one’s baby before or after birth is for “health” reasons.
Personal *responsibility* starts before the baby is conceived. After that, sorry. Welcome to being a parent.

Abolishing slavery before the culture and country was ready for it was extremely costly in lives and to our constitution. It tore a country apart and the argument can be made that the end of slavery was happening. It could have been achieved without so great a price and just a little more time.
Because of that history, I’m willing to believe, as a prolife Christian, the work is MINE not the government to promote a culture of life so that the idea again can become abhorant enough that a national right to life legislation can be established without the extreme force that could cause a similar rift as happened during the Civil War. It isn’t ideal, babues deserve justice now. But just throwing around the force of law isnt going to achieve a prolife heart in our country.
We can get there. Soldier on.
I have maintained for over 40 years that the issue of abortion will never be solved legislatively, but only through a complete change in the hearts and minds of people…sadly, the two groups who have been hurt the most by the legalization of abortion are WOMEN and CHILDREN!
There is no “freedom” when women choose to end the lives of their own children, whether out of fear, pressure, or for monetary reasons – there is only forever and always a sadness and a regret that many hide behind an attitude of bravado or self justification!
I came of age shortly after Roe v Wade and, off the top of my head, can think of at least 30 or 40 women that I knew personally in that time frame who had an abortion. It is split about 50/50 as to the ones who came to regret it, some immediately and some later vs those who have continued to support it, angerly or at least adamantly, perhaps because they cannot face up to what they did? (That’s my theory, after having spoken to many of them over the years – there is an irrational insistence that they HAD THE RIGHT TO DO IT, by GOD! As soon as I saw Melania Trump’s comments on the subject, I wondered if she perhaps might be in the group that feels they MUST support it, because they themselves have done it?)
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and there is always grace and forgiveness available for anyone…but if someone refuses to acknowledge sin, then it will forever eat at their soul, and that is an exhausting road to have to walk!
