It certainly doesn’t take any “feat of imagination” to understand why a tribe of “apocalyptic Mullahs” was able to seize control of Iran, and then to exert “extortion” upon so much of oil trade. (Hint: “This ain’t news …)

Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t. Quite a bit of the “reporting” about the Iran conflict has been suspect, especially when it comes to who is providing any kind of assistance to Iran.
That said, China has a considerable investment in Iran and is starting to have trouble retaining control over infrastructure it has built elsewhere (e.g., African countries). The Belt and Road thing has been a very expensive gamble that may not succeed, but has certainly had its advantages. Remember that the initial, major covid outbreak in Europe was in northern Italy, brought in by Chinese workers returning from China after a holiday. (Northern Italy is Italy’s manufacturing hub, and much of its industry has been under Chinese control.)
I don’t know how China could manufacture anything that is “top of the line”. The general workmanship of anything coming out of China is very poor.

This is spot on. I knew some of these people 30 years ago. I’m convinced byt evidence and a rational Occam’s Razor approach that they know How the Hell we got us into this mess.
