If Swalwell were to have won one of the two primary spots in the CA governor race and the only other candidate in CAs primary system was a Republican (which was likely due to the other 3 dems splitting the vote), there’s no mechanism to add another candidate. So the Republican would be the sole candidate for governor. Did I get that right?
I don’t understand California’s Jungle primary, but I think the top two become the candidates, whether from the same party or not. It was rigged so that most elections would result in two democrat candidates and shut out any R’s. If Swallowell stayed in and there were too many candidates splitting the Dem vote, the top two would be R’s, guaranteeing a Republican governor. CA Dems could not allow that so they needed a scapegoat (not that that’s hard to find among the Dems).
Yes it now an open primary and two top vote getters move forward, plurality not party …
No doubt they could get sufficient dirt on any of the three; it’s just likely that he was the easiest.

With the House now back from vacation, he will still be around for a while, maybe not for very long, but long enough, to vote a Democrat No on whatever bills Speaker Johnson has high on his list to be passed. Swallowell may be around for votes on bills the Dems think are close enough to be defeated, or to force favorable amendments in order to be passed. In this way, Swallowell will leave in their hypocritical good graces and receive something of value in return down the road when it comes to jobs or sentencing or pardons or whatever.
Swalwell is exactly the kind of representative the IC likes (and the legacy media, but I repeat myself) because they can completely control him. Eric the Douche had a zipper problem for many years and not only did the legacy media ignore it, they actively covered it up for the “rising star” of the Democrat party. Consider that a former Democrat Presidential Candidate was taken out in a matter of a couple of weeks. It’s hard for me to trust any allegations during an election period, especially what they put our President through, but I’m not sorry to see him go. Would have rather he had exited after the Chinese spy was discovered.

Then he ran against Newsom in the primary for Governor and got in the way of Newsom for President. He refused the dropout deal they offered, and WHAM! He discovered overnight that he was NOT untouchable. They just hadn’t had a reason to touch him.
This isn’t even about Swalwell. This is about Newsom. Newsom has already been selected to be the Democrat candidate for President in 2028. This was a demonstration of what they can and will do to anyone who interferes with that.

Did he or someone else stop paying hush money?
