Yeah don’t know where he (Gaetz) lands, but certainly has an additional role to play somewhere. I don’t think it’ll be the Senate seat as I’m quite certain RDS is not involved in any strategic planning with the Trump Team, but quite sure Gaetz isn’t done yet.
At the same time, DeSantis doesn’t want to become the next Rob Blagojevich.
If RDS wants a future in the GOP, he would be well advised to help the Trump team and cooperate with their plans. Appointing Gaetz would be a good step.

I’m so thrilled that Trump won and we have GOP majorities in the House and Senate I’m not bothered much that a few Trump picks aren’t going to be confirmed. There are other positions for Gaetz, and there are other people who can take the AG spot. We’re still on track for the most important things to get done, which are IMO evicting the illegals and getting the economy back into good shape.

This a replay of when PDJT nominated John Ratcliffe, the FIRST time, for ODNI.

His staff called the offices of McConnell and Graham, and asked when they could set up an appointment, to discuss his nomination, and was told their calenders were full, and couldn’t possibly meet with him for at least six months!
This was there way (Mitch and Lindsey) of saying it ain’t going to happen.
Obviously, Matt was told he would NOT be confirmed, no how no way.
In retrospect, a “tell” was several days ago Lindsey said MG had his enthusiastic support; knowing it was NEVER going to happen, Lindsey hadno problem making an empty promise.

You can’t tell me that the transition team wouldn’t know about the risks with this nomination. The info has been public for years. Also, Gaetz is clever, but doesn’t have the political capital to force anyone to nominate him as AG. More than likely a horse trade was made; Gaetz was the stick so they could get people negotiating. They say lawyers don’t ask questions they don’t have answers to, and I bet they also don’t seriously nominate people they know they can’t get confirmed.

I like the idea of Gaetz in the Senate better than as AG, though once he was announced as the AG pick, I was behind him as I think the GOP should let President Trump appoint his cabinet without interference. AG needs to be someone who really knows the legal system and how to get things done. Staffers can help a lot in that regard, but it helps if the boss is extremely knowledgeable. In any event, we need more GOP senators like Gaetz. There, he can make things miserable for McConnell and his cronies.

Trump is NOT going to be allowed the cabinet of his choice. The Democrats might have lost on paper but they still have a majority in the Senate — McConnell, Collins, Murkowski, the tool from Utah, Thune, Cornyn are effectively Democrats, so while Thune will be the majority leader, the Swamp still will be calling the shots.

He stated neither Robinson or Morrow would be elected and then he made sure that happened, although Michelle put up a worthy battle and did quite well.
