I tend to agree, but whether planned or not, what comes next both for Gaetz and the next AG nominee must be and CAN be something the corrupt apparatus hates and fears even more. Trump has to play the game that way — make those who obstruct his agenda quickly regret it — because that is what the Uniparty does, it’s how you demoralize the enemy, and it’s how you win. I agree. Gaetz probably told the Trump team they had nothing. The leaked ethics report to ABC shows otherwise. While not necessarily “illegal”, just presents an unwindable argument in favor of Gaetz. Gaetz did it to himself chasing the oldest profession.
The larger problem is many in DC have done the same or worse than GAeatz. It should all be public knowledge and let the people decide. If 400 out of 535 Congressional members engage in the oldest profession, maybe it’s not a big deal; however, when all of that is hidden from the public it makes it harder to overcome. Regardless, it’s not a good look for the AG.
I read somewhere there may have been something about Nestor in the DOJ files leaked to the NYT. Even if totally fabricated, I could see that being a redline.

Sadly, many of my fellow patriots seem willing to engage in wishful thinking. Trump clearly has a short-term wrecking ball strategy for DOJ (immensely deserved but with massive media and lawsuit fallout for years, the entrenched parasites and partisans are lawyers after all, radical lawyers and many minorities, so the entire playbook of predictable screeds and accusations will flood the MSM) and Gaetz fit the role admirably, but had messy damages from before that were NOT crimes but lent themselves to hyperbolic attacks from the purported moral high-ground of MSM talking heads. The Senate visitations accompanying Vance got a reading of how much political capital in resistance McConnell and the RINO cohort were willing to invest. (It is interesting that a military parallel comes to mind, “Reconaissance by Fire”, where to draw enemy fire to determine positions and scale of weapons you are facing). My guess is that there would be a far more traditional candidate to clean up the wreckage after the “crust battle” of breaching the DOJ ideological walls was accomplished. Paxton, Eastman or my favorite, Matt Whitaker. Early skirmishing my friends, the battle to tame and trim a rebellious government is an epic task, these beginnings are just the scattered openings as the “movement to contact” begins.

I think he resigned from Congress. Watch now. They’ll move on to Hegseth and if they get him, to Gabbard and if they get her Kennedy. They play hardball. My thinking drifts to this type scenario:
Trump nominates Gaetz and it gets a swamp reaction.
If you believe the whispers that the swamp, they would give PDJT Gaetz in exchange for their “plant” at the FBI which would mean PDJT flushed out the “want” from the swamp and the trade they wanted. Now he knows the play.
He then took that piece off the chessboard by Gaetz pulling his name.
Now PDJT knows where the swamp is focused and he can act accordingly.
Next move? Nominate a FBI director to infuriate the swamp and go fishing for the next swamp “want” or shove Paxton down their throat….

Resigning his seat in the current Congress meant the House ethics report won’t be released ahead of the now aborted Senate confirmation hearings. I’m sure it would have come up then, but he would only have to address it once. Not over weeks leading up said hearings.

He resigned from the 118th Congress and was just elected to the 119th Congress. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The Ethics Committee investigation was in the 118th. The 119th would have to conduct their own investigation.
The Gov doesn’t appoint a fill in for a House seat… he orders a special election which he has already done.

I don’t think “nothing burger” do a search for Gaetz ethics report. ABC had published an article with Venmo payments and a check written to one of the witnesses. I’m sure it would be very difficult to explain those away, hence he withdrew.
The real problem is a lot in DC have done the same or worse than Gaetz. He’s guilty of wrong-think, but unfortunately they have something to create an argument on that I don’t think he could overcome and would hurt Trump.

An “ethics report” published by those who have fluid ethics, holds no basis of concern for me. What I do know, is that Gaetz was investigated by a hostile DoJ and they declined to press charges.

I think the valid strategy would be to take a close look at those current Judges out there who clerked under Alito or Thomas. I kind of like James Ho of the 5th Appellate. He clerked under Thomas and has all the positions I like. Bonus, having a Taiwanese immigrant running the US Justice system sends an interesting message to the Chinese. It, also, forces our Identity Politics Senators to vote for or against an Asian.

Sorry, but it’s time to end the drama. There is no way Gaetz fills Rubio’s seat in the Senate. If Trump still Gaetz wants to have a position in his Administration, it will have to be a role that doesn’t need Senate approval.
He has to land somewhere he can be maximally effective, or this is a defeat for MAGA and #1 rule for MAGA right now must be that any perceived “defeat” is actually a win, if not immediately, soon enough to be perceived by enemies as a direct result of whatever obstruction action they took. Any obstruction must be turned against them. Action-reaction.

I was salivating over the prospect of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, but after re-reading those statements from Gaetz and Trump, I’m getting vibes that they were playing Thune, McConnell and the IC crowd with his nomination; ie, 1)softening them up for confirmation of his other cabinet appointments, 2) forcing Thune, et al, to expend political capital to deep six a Gaetz nomination that Trump was never serious about.
A good indicator of that will be if DeSantis picks Gaetz to replace Rubio in the Senate.

Sea Island approval of Brian Kemp to lead the Republican Governor’s Association implies they already have his replacement to succeed him on the National stage. Governorship of Florida is the end of the line for DeSantis.
DeSantis seems more likely to appoint himself than Gaetz, if that’s a thing he could conceivably do.
Anyway, the same billionaires who pushed DeSantis into a Quixotic mission against Trump will make his retirement bountiful by not appointing Gaetz.

The nomination gave Gaetz cover to resign before it was issued, and it seems virtually certain he’ll end up in Rubio’s seat or somewhere else he can keep causing trouble. Ie, something had to happen pretty quickly to get in front of the report. Now I genuinely don’t know how much of a problem for him that report actually would have been. And now there’s the NYT leak — but it still remains fact that Gaetz has NEVER had actual findings issued against him. All allegations. Maybe that matters, IDK

If Decepticons “resist we much” against Paxton, then they’ve played their cards and made it obvious there will be continued resistance from the Thune group.
