Elon and Vivek will do great work — but they are private sector “volunteers” and will maintain all of their business assets and interests and that will — and should — limit how deep they can go. They can spin it as positive that they aren’t “within the bureaucracy” but there is a reason that the work of government requires being conflict free. They could be talking about “firewalls” and blind trusts and divestments – the sorts of things business people do when they want to work in government. Elon and Vivek aren’t doing that.
So they either will be all PR and messaging (which sounds fluffy but even that can be a catalyst for change) or they’ll be arms-length consultants, which is also fine.
At least as things look now — we want Gaetz to be deeper in the trenches. Special prosecutor would be better than a post in DOGE. Again, as far as things look now.

I can’t speak for GNanny, but when I heard another Republican Representative say Gaetz was showing pictures of nude women to him and other people on the House floor I realized then that Gaetz isn’t suitable for the AG position. Someone who does that demonstrates incredibly poor judgement. That’s a workplace and we taxpayers are paying for it. Couldn’t he wait until he was in a private area, preferably outside of the Capitol? That behavior would be grounds for firing at most companies and I have actually seen guys get fired for doing stuff like that.

Voters have made good progress getting rid of the House RINOs but the Senate is still full of them. I wrote about this the day after Trump mentioned Gaetz for AG, and after I heard about the Ethics report finding. Trump planned this and Gaetz knew it. It’s not too far-fetched to say that even Ron DeSantis knew it. Will the real actors please stand up? IMHO, President Trump and the campaign would not have nominated Gaetz knowing about the ethics report and how the stalwarts in the Senate would defeat him. This was done either to place Matt in Rubio’s seat or he goes back to Congress, with the Ethics report disappearing.
