Naming Czars, who have HIS plenary authority delegated to them, and don’t require Senate Confirmation, going with “acting” appointees, using compromising material to persuade recalcitrant Senators, and of coarse the recess appointment that only needs one soldier to fall on his sword, and even some combination.
Its entirely possible he KNEW MG would never be confirmed, and nominating him was just an opening gambit.
Already, the battle lines are drawn, and his true enemy, Congressional REPUBLICAN leadership is exposed for ALL to see.
We, here (well, MOST of us!) have known the true nature of the Uniparty for some time, but its doubtful all of those ‘lifelong democrats’ that walked away to join MAGA, have ever followed REPUBLICAN party politics, of have any ideathe real enemy is Congressional Republucan leadership, and they just got educated.

So Gov. DeSantis can hold the special election to fill his seat (safe Republican district) before the new members are sworn in. His district seat should not be vacant.
No guarantee Gaetz is going to get that Senate seat. Lara Trump is being pushed for that seat now.

With all that said, Trump will likely come out a winner in the end. Gaetz stepping aside has no doubt bought some goodwill with some wishy-washy GOP senators, and that will be needed to get some of these other nominees through. If you want Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to become head of Health and Human Services, that’s more possible now.
Further, Trump needs a clean fight over his nominees. There’s simply no time to waste on a drawn-out, scandal-ridden nomination process. I’m not arguing that is fair, but fairness really has nothing to do with this situation. Politics is the art of the possible, and with Democrats likely to retake the House in two years, the time to strike is now. That means getting people in place as quickly as possible who have the know-how to truly reform these various agencies.
It’s going to take a surgeon to fix the DOJ because the deep state will not go quietly or easily, and there are some very good options out there that may be better in the long run. Missouri AG Andrew Bailey (R-MO), who has led many major conservative legal battles over the last few years, was already in consideration for the job and would be excellent. Others have mentioned Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who has the experience and the motivation to tear things down. Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) checks every box, too, if he’s willing to consider taking the job.

This feels like a colossal loss. I didn’t see the initial appointment coming, but it was like a real burst of sunshine. The reaction of the “guilty” in IC, Judicial, Congressional, Executive, & Media was legitimate fear & trembling, unlike their feigning fear over covert DS guys they’re attempting to manipulate selections of.

From what I’m reading, Matt Gaetz resigned from the 118th Congress, but he has already been elected to the 119th Congress which won’t be sworn in until January 3rd!
Since Gaetz can’t resign from a Congress that hasn’t yet been convened, he has the option of being sworn in to the 119th Congress!
He said he was not taking the oath for the next congress
Her is my ten cents worth. The Democrats always get their appointees through but we have some less than stellar members like Collins, Murkowski and McConnell who cannot be trusted. Do recess appointments and screw the lot of them. Make sure these house members know that either we get them out in 2026 or with an ethics investigation of their own.

Remember McConnell used a rotating slate of resistors to accomplish his blocking in the past. Some participants were allowed, on an as needed basis, to vote for the opposition as needed to obfuscate their allegiance. Just because he stepped down from “leadership” does not mean he relinquished control of the finances.

I think the plan is to get Gaetz into the senate, replacing Rubio. Put Pam in because the dems will have a tough time stopping the first woman nominee fir AG.. Remember how Trump did Nikki Haley. Pam could wait for Congress to recess and then resign, Trump then appoints Gaetz.
I also believe the plan is to get MG into the Senate… either that or DJT hasn’t learned much in the last 8 years.
But Trump could schedule a recess when he gets in. He spoke of that so what happened. Putting Gaetz in the senate is a waste! How about a call for everyone in the house and senate to be investigated for rape charges and pay offs that taxpayers had to pay for

No way does DeSantis appoint Gaetz to fill the Rubio Senate seat. IMO DeSantis wants to run for that open seat in 2026. He will also run for GOP nomination for president in 2028 but he is far from assured of winning that nomination and then he will still have the Senate seat a path to big riches.
