Everyone who is a pragmatic critical thinker knows that China will: subsidize their targeted sectors and devalue their currency to lower the tariff impact of exports to the USA. Beijing controls the banks, and they did this before.
As a result, the dollar value increases and imports cost less.
The Chinese imports then enter the USA at a lower price consistent with Beijing’s cost estimate as a tariff offset. Chinese actuaries are really good at this. China takes in a lower price but retains access to the USA market. That’s just how it works. The importers pay the tariff with a lowered price with a higher valued dollar. Essentially stasis is achieved in a stand-off.
Then…..
EU industrial products to Chinese manufacturing plants start to contract due to China’s aggressive cost cutting initiatives. The EU gets angry about the impact to their economy and looks for alternatives. The EU then follows the same path as China and devalues their central bank currency; further pressuring the dollar to an upward price.
Exports to the EU are now more expensive, but imports from the EU to the USA are now cheaper. Again, the EU goal is stasis.
Both scenarios create cheaper USA imports despite the Trump tariffs. However, on the EU side President Trump then ends the Marshal plan and executes a program of “tariff reciprocity” against the EU. More frustration and gritted teeth by Brussels.

Exports from the USA ultimately cost more because the dollar is stronger against EU and Asia currencies. However, a stronger dollar is an offset to BRICS leverage and allows Trump to play economic chess.
President Trump then uses part of the tariff income to underwrite agriculture exports, but… here we have fun… if agriculture exports are impacted, domestic foodstuffs drop in price.
Into this dynamic Trump turns to Mexico. We have a strong dollar, all those Western Union transfers to Mexico are more valuable. Leverage is created. The economic situation then overlays the secure border dynamic and if Mexico wants to retain trade access within the USMCA agreement, the part that no one ever discusses comes into play.
Unbeknownst to all except those who watched U.S Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer do it, under the USMCA trade compact the USA has first right of refusal toward any bilateral trade agreement made by Mexico or Canada. That’s correct, President Trump now controls a veto on trade agreements within USMCA partnered countries.
Right about now is when we can all smile, because I guarantee you there are dozens of financial trade experts who have either forgotten that Lighthizer did this, or just became aware as they pull out their USMCA portfolio looking for it. Oh, and there isn’t a damn thing the WTO can do about it.

I can remember when teachers would talk about stuff like this in middle and high school, and even sometimes the upper grades of elementary school, to say nothing of college. Of course not this in depth but we heard about world trade and it’s affect on society, how it tied into war and foreign relations, etc. Class discussions were encouraged, parents’ occupations might be brought up, and talked about if it fit in, such kid who’s Dad was in the military or aerospace etc. Teachers seemed to understand and respect their position as it related to helping students form their views and maybe even inspire them to a higher calling than they had thought about. Oh well, I know I’m rambling, and I don’t mean to. I just wish we could get education back to what it should be, our society was much better for it when kids weren’t deliberately dumbed down. Sorry for the rant.

Though I “ideally” would privatize all education, that isn’t realistic. The best route is the “School Choice” strategem, which would force all schools whether they be public, public charter, private, or parochial to compete for those tax dollars. It would reduce all the woke, Cultural Marxism in the schools to at most a fringe group overnight. It is also ridiculous that School District Superintendents like my own are making over $400k/year while testing scores in reading, writing, and arithmetic keep going down every year. Pouring more money into the Public Education system only makes things worse. The key is to get control of the money.
Public school superintendents in Washington state make around $400K (base salary). Office clerks get upwards of $110K. Less than half of students at grade level in math and science. No school choice. Dumb crowds are easier to control.

Yes, tariffs are not a tax on US consumers. Tariffs charge foreign producers for the privilege of accessing the largest and richest market in the world, the USA. We have been just giving away this highly valuable commodity for a long time. Market access is a national asset, a treasure, and our leaders owe it to us to get a good return on its sale.
I would really like to see all tariff income go directly to paying down the debt instead of the general treasury. This income should not be spent for general budget items. In addition, all oil & gas lease agreement income should also be directed to debt reduction. These policies need to be outlined in each budget legislation and not dependent on an executive order that can be overturned in four years, since it will take more than four years to retire the debt (unless Elon’s efficiency commission miraculously is able to cut 25-50% of the executive branch bureaucracy).

However, what actually happens and what did happen is that import prices remained about the same, import volume was not much changed and there was in fact a general RISE in employment. thus, the argument fell to pieces. huh! hmm? what happened? was the math wrong, or was there something else?

They were both wearing hilarious t-shirts they had made up which stated the obvious about all the gaslighting that has been going on. We were speaking of the upcoming election, and they, like many, many, people are preparing to hunker down through the election and the January “installment” period of whomever we get as President. They confessed that they had voted for Obama the first time because of the supposed “historical” “black man as President”. They were sorely disappointed and have become Trump supporters. It was a refreshing conversation. They also confessed that they got the jab and 2 boosters, then realized it was all hokum and refused any more. They further, moved from a blue state to a red state. It was so clear that they had an awakening and Obama was the cause. So, I guess there is some good that has come out of the Obama presidency. He has turned a great many people off of the Democrat, now Marxist, party.

b. WikiLeaks. it was the first time I could real unsalted, raw, undredacted facts about how my government operated. It was shocking to me. I then began my quest for “news” from independent investigative journalists who were not captured by the state or had professional conflicts. This drew me closer to finding CTH/Sundance, which would happen about 10 years later. The more I looked, the more I realized that the media new orgs that operate in the US, are operating within the interests of the secret police spy state. One of the most powerfully impactful reads was during a three day winter storms where I shelted in the Hennepin county library…with nothing to do and a snack machine to keep my calories up, I watched a documentary video produced by PBS/Frontline called “news war”. It changed how I viewed the news. I highly recommend it.

Idk, but it’s likely the Fed triggered the inevitable collapse, but they certainly prolonged it throughout the decade by not reducing interest rates, at all to restart the economy. As it was a global collapse, you can point the fingers, again, at the global banksters – they Always profit in any market situation – since they reclaimed Much of the collateral used for loans.

Yes and overlay this with the drill baby drill energy policy that puts US and us in the driver’s seat geopolitically by removing any dependence on foreign oil and the ability to control Saudi and Russian oil revenues by manipulating petroleum supply, not to mention bringing down petroleum in the 30 dollar price range per bbl. That will be the single biggest stimulus. Then onshore manufacturing. Happy days!

When I look around the corner, I wonder about the President after Trump. This administration shredded most of the good things he did, and quickly. I have whiplash, still. When the Presidency can drag America quickly in the wrong direction and wreck the economy so quickly… or is it Congress? I don’t know. But, this insanity of jerking us all around needs to stop. People need to be able to count on a steady job and the ability to care for their families without living in constant fear of what the government is going to do next. We need stability and hope for the future.
Then, I realize, as a Christian woman, that hope and stability is out of reach UNLESS America turns back to God and forsakes all the sinful, horrible, things that have been codified into law, like baby killing and genital mutilation. Just sayin’.

One of the best “boots on the ground” economic analysis that has ever been writen. Not many folks understand economics, even fewer can make policy that works domestically. Sundance has provided a Nobel level international economic strategy. It is so intelligent. It seems that Sundance is the genius behind the Trump curtain.
Trump has said that he would make auto loan interest fully deductible – an appealing policy. How about making that deductible expense only applicable to US-made automotive products?
The big assumption here is they will let Trump win.
I’m a bit of a pessimist I guess, but I’d still advise to go through all the motions and make it hard to impossible to cheat. Let the whole world and the country see that it was a coup and not an election – if they chose to go that way.

This is so very simple to understand that I fail to understand who could possibly be against it.
Why are the wealthy people fighting against this type of American prosperity so much?
How in the world do educated people not understand?

I have always believed that; “A rising tide floats all boats.”.
There is still a fog in the reasoning. The United States produced nearly all the Goods and Services consumed within the United States, for decades.
Within this internal balance of Production and Consumption all parties were paid sufficiently for their Labor and Capital such that everyone thrived.
Efficiencies profited everyone, although Government taxed away individual surpluses, directly and via inflation.
The only fly in this ointment is that there is no Check on Capital/Money Expansion/Debt Creation, since American Capital can flow outside the U.S.A and impoverish American Citizens while the few very wealthy can accumulate more.
Of course, the National Debt is guaranteed by the entire nation, all individuals, while the USA’s UberClass can hop on a jet and wave the Debt they created, goodbye.
For a long time Just about everything we have been told by government has been propaganda. Smoot Hawley caused the depression. Nope. Look at the balance of trade in the graph. So if they quit letting our goods in and we stopped letting their goods in, the net effect would be minimal. We would make up the loss of exports by making more in the US.
It was easier to blame Smoot Hawley than it was to blame the runaway government spending, inflation, and wild speculative margin buying of stocks. Just like now, there were good banks and bad banks. The bad banks almost sunk the economy. Speculative bubbles always cause big problems.

I am greatly concerned that if Trump wins the election, the left and so-called “intelligence agencies” WILL STOP AT NOTHING to make sure he never assumes the presidency. They will take him out by whatever means necessary. They’ve already shown, with lax and potentially compromised Secret Service protection, that they not only don’t care but actually encourage lethal attacks. There is not shortage of stooges, crazies and committed foot soldiers to do the deed, and in the highest levels of government, you can be sure nefarious plans are already well developed, to include scenarios for poisoning, sabotaging aircraft, and more. I would love be proven wrong. God bless the USA, and thank God that whatever happens, His will will ultimately be done.
