Representative Jamie Raskin’s (U-MD) son, Tommy Raskin killed himself right after the 2020 election at the age of 25. Congressman Raskin was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Raskin is an angry bitter man of intemperate disposition, the archetype nihilist. As hate consumes him, his physical persona changes with the manifestation of evil enterprise. While his cancer is in reported remission, I would anticipate it to resurface in early 2025, after Baal has finished using him.
All of that said, Raskin is pledging to purposefully trigger a civil war within the United States if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. {Direct Rumble Link Here} Raskin is prepared to work with Democrats and block any certification of any vote that has President Trump declared the winner.
The basic auspices of this nonsensical 14th Amendment, Section 3, argument is that congress can block any person from office who was a federal officer and previously swore an oath to the constitution, then engaged in rebellion and insurrection. It’s the same lawfare argument used by Colorado, Maine and Illinois in an attempt to keep President Trump off the ballot.
The supreme court ruled that states cannot trigger Section 3 of the 14th Amendment:
“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.” ~ [Citation]
Raskin sat on the House Select Jan. 6 Committee, and also served as an impeachment manager during the second impeachment effort against President Trump over the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. “The House of Representatives already impeached Donald Trump for participating in insurrection by inciting it,” Raskin previously said.
Watch this guy. Raskin throws around “civil war” like it’s a willy-nilly disposable line without the major consequences he would trigger.

Jn case it has not been previously mention, Jamie Raskin’s wife, Sarah Bloom Raskin, withdrew her name then Biden withdrew her nomination for a top spot on the Federal Reserve board of governors. Biden’s batch of radicals have rarely been turned aside by the senate. This would have been a return to a high position on the Fed for her, but she was not allowed back.

Having spent considerable time over about six years interacting 1-1 directly with Raskin (we used to be IRL friends) I can attest that he is OFF THE CHARTS brilliant, a little bit “on the spectrum” somewhat blinded by ideological zealotry, but — mark my words, trust me on this — very much nobody’s fool.
He was far and away the most brilliant mind on the faculty at my law school, he’s a constutional law savant of the HIGHEST ORDER (as in he knows ALL the major jurisprudence off the top of his head), he is a polymath like only one or two others I’ve ever met in life. And trust me DON’T EVER underestimate him or think he is stupid or ignorant. He is far and away the most brilliant mind on capitol hill, and quite possibly all of Washington D.C. Which makes him incredibly dangerous. And yet a wonderfully cordial guy to know personally and interact with socially as I did daily for years.

Back during the last crash (2008-12 or thereabouts) I opined the next one would make that one look like a sunny Sunday afternoon. I remember, but only vaguely, a recession and period of unrest in the late 60’s, with much strife, violence and death lasting well into the 70’s.
However, my parents largely insulated me from the early portions with the only outward sign being dad taking a second job to make ends meet. His primary job was working for the government. They couldn’t, unfortunately, control the street violence I was exposed to.
I opined a few weeks ago that the DNC is shaping up to be Chicago ’68. Main difference now is the Communists are far more solidified in government and institutional America, particularly corporate America and law enforcement, than they were in ’68 so our battles, and the election, will necessarily be different.
I view such political statements as the topic of the thread as a barometer of the times. That it got the attention it did here underscores the reality of it, else it would’ve been relegated to the background noise of daily life.

The 14th amendment section 3 was directed at Democrats. And what’s more, it specifies WHICH elected offices (senate or house) or any hired government employee. But it doesn’t say the US President is ineligible. So. NO.

I’ve been saying for a long time now that if Trump wins all hell (aka riots, looting and burning) will break lose in this country. The dems will make it happen, they have no other choice, they cannot lose the hard won ground they’ve gained now. They will still have their people in places of power that Trump will not be able to replace, most notably in the legal system. They will fight against him and support the thugs as has been happening. They will be there at every turn. And, it would be difficult for him to ferret out every malicious actor in the bureaucracy and they will cause all the trouble they can even at low levels.

I used to know Jamie Raskin many years ago. He was my First Amendment professor in law school and I went out in a large group he was a part of for a while. More his brother Noah but Jamie was around here and there.
It seems that Representative Raskin is upset at the SCOTUS interpreting the 14th Amendment differently that he’d like it to be. ‘Selective Interpretation’ seems to be a common thread among those that wish to use it as a bludgeon against their opponents rather than as guard rails to constrain the government’s actions.
