Your estimate misses the fact that the sub and escort could and would be probably taken out after the first launch, limiting the total number being fired initially. And no ability for future attacks or counter attacks.

Iodine is only helpful in protecting the thyroid gland from efects of radiation, not other organs. And generally only useful to younger people, 18 and under. Side effects also increase with age.
Iodine tends to accumulate in the thyroid gland. Radioactive Iodine is produced in a nuclear blast and is a significant component of radioactive fallout. Children are particularly susceptible to accumulating radioactive iodine in their thyroid glands leading to thyroid cancer. To protect them from this you give children iodine supplements to saturate their thyroid gland with non-radioactive iodine to prevent accumulation of radioactive Iodine in their thyroid gland. After Chernobyl when radioactive fallout was detected in Finland and Sweden European kids were given Iodine supplements at school to saturate their Thyroid glands preventing the uptake of radioactive Iodine.

I recently discovered that iodine does not work. A nuclear bomb has several different types of radiation, and iodine only *helps* just one type. I say “helps,” but it’s highly unlikely that that type of radiation that invades the thyroid would be the one that kills you. You’d be long dead before it becomes a problem.
A nuclear bomb’s fission reaction produces up to 100 different radioactive elements. The four main types of radiation are alpha, beta, neutrons, and electromagnetic waves like gamma rays. These types of radiation differ in mass, energy, and how far they can penetrate people and objects.

I wanted to separately mention… A Lugols solution of iodine – 12.5mg in solution or pill – is good for health. A Lugols solution is approximately the average daily consumption of iodine in the food diet of the Japanese.
IMO, iodine was purposely removed from the American diet as fluoride was purposely introduced.

It is my understanding that if you live far enough away to survive the blast zone, then you need to prepare for the radioactive fallout. You need to get into a room that has minimal windows and doors within 20 minutes. Hang very heavy duty plastic over any openings with duct tape sealing them off. Stay in there for a minimum of 72 hours, max two weeks. So that would mean a store of food and water, and a way to handle bodily waste for the entire time. This may prove difficult for most. The best way to survive from my perspective is to be far away from any potential attack sites ; )

I just finished reading the latest from Bobby Akart, “Aftermath 1: A Nuclear War Survival Thriller”. Akart must be a treeper. The story reads like it was taken from the pages of the Conservative Treehouse.

I take iodine regularly for health reasons and to keep my iodine status up and keep extra bottles in stock for………….as needed (for family). Iodine is low cost now.
I strongly encourage people to use iodized salt. I personally use Iodized sea salt. Has the benefits of sea salt with the added iodine.

What will Putin do? Really he doesn’t have to do anything. Russia already has enough weapons to respond to a U.S./NATO threat however he will most likely forward forward deploy more weapons in response. Russia will probably adjust their nuclear response policy as the West and NATO become more and more insane. This will place all of us in more danger and reduce the security of the entire world. In the end all of the West’s weapons deployments will gain them nothing. In addition Russia will probably decide to supply more advanced weaponry to many of those the West considers enemies.
The West is lashing out like a spoiled child in response to their defeat in Ukraine and inability to effect regime change in Russia. In the long term all Russia has to do is wait for the West to implode. We have no manufacturing base to support the homicidal aims of the neocons and if we were to embark on a program to change that it would take decades. We also no longer have a society with enough social capitol to do such a thing.
Russia, China, India, Iran and the BRICS plus, will eventually be the end of the West’s “World Order.” There is nothing anyone can do about that at this point. If the U.S. was smart it would withdraw from being the world’s bully and concentrate on strengthening our country. That would take a long time and will probably not happen.

I disagree with Sundance on the the usefulness of Potassium Iodide in a nuclear war. It is used only for local radiation emergencies like in a medical facility, nuclear electric generating facility or a nuclear submarine, for example.

No, that is a healthy nation. If the elections were not fraudulent then Trump would be elected by the 61%, a landslide, and the the 39% would understand and eventually agree with his position in his prosperous, benign second term. The process is designed for this accommodation of views and the peaceful toleration of each other. The problem is that the elites, the oligarchs, think they are better than us, are more wise than us and compromised the process with corruption. The elites have mistaken technical knowledge, degrees, with wisdom.
