The Russians military manufacturing is a factor several times larger than the US and Europe combined. They kept all their factories mothballed, for real national security reasons. There are 1,000 volunteers a day who receive a year of training before deployment. They can move current combat experienced NCOs and officers to form new brigades. If our fearless leaders send our army in we will be facing 2,000 casualties per day. For what, exactly? They were happy selling oil and gas to Europe and importing western goods. They just insisted Ukraine remain neutral. Starting a war with China is insane. At the least we needed to repatriate our industry, but then there would be no point to mess with them.

The warning Putin gave to NATO before any of this started was that Russia would not tolerate Ukraine as a member of that not fit for original purpose (defense) organization, one well past its sell by date, on its doorstep. He made that very clear.

I assume when the pronoun “we” is used as in Sundance’s accurate statement that “we are the baddies” it refers to this country in a generic sense and not the people in it.
Otherwise we end up arguing over pronoun usage rather than the issue itself.
So no…citizens are not the baddies here.
We all know actions are being taken by the reprehensible government of this nation by themselves without our being consulted, and are being taken in our name. No one debates that.
But the “we” in this case is a United States government and definitely the baddies..and for decades longer than it is comfortable for me to admit.
