On Wednesday, Russia claimed an IL-76 transport aircraft carrying 65 Ukrainian POWs was shot down en route to a POW exchange in the Belgorod region.
Western media, particularly those with a vested anti-Russia narrative, expressed skepticism of the Russian statement, including the claim that Ukraine had shot down the plane. However, the BBC has an outline [SEE HERE] based on a conversation with a Ukrainian intelligence official that seems to directly corroborate the Russian statements.
Oddly, but perhaps not unexpectedly, the BBC article is framed to retain the skepticism; however, if you read the article carefully, what you will notice is the details are generally confirmed.
Yes, there was a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine military that was supposed to take place in Belgorod on Wednesday, at the exact time the plane was shot down. Yes, for some unknown reason the prisoner exchange did not take place as the POWs never arrived. Yes, there was a previous POW exchange that took place in this exact same Belgorod location, and yes, a Russian IL-76 aircraft was previously used to transport the Ukraine POWs.
(Via BBC) – … [Ukraine Intelligence Officer] Andriy Yusov stressed that Russia had provided no proof to back its claims there were. “There is no clear information about prisoners of war. There are only statements by Russia, of a political and propagandist nature,” he said. “Who or what was on board needs to be clarified.”
Mr Yusov, who is the first Ukrainian official interviewed by the BBC since the incident on Wednesday, accused Moscow of “hiding” information, with limited images from the crash site – including of any dead.
Here’s where the article seems to confirm the Russian story:

If you take out all the narrative engineering from the article, then just take those excerpts from Ukraine intelligence in total, they seem to confirm everything Russia outlined about the transport of 65 Ukrainian POWs to Belgorod.
Why would Russia have to tell Ukraine again how the POWs would arrive, when they already told them the first time – and they were simply repeating the same process.
The plane never arrived, and the 65 POW exchange never happened, because Ukraine shot down the Russian transport plane.

The on the ground videos of the crash site are dire, I won’t say more that that. This is similar in one way to MH-17 back in 2014, in that in both cases there is a chunk of fuselage still in one piece riddled with SAM shrapnel holes. As all SAM warheads are different the Russians will have by now a pretty good idea what did it.
There was two Il-76 flying that journey, the second one, with another 80 PoW on board taking abrupt evasive action. Imagine how those PoW felt. There but the grace of God springs to mind.
The Russians very quickly put up the list of the now dead PoW, a very humane action aimed at all the families waiting for them, not knowing who was on which aircraft.
Nothing the Ukrainians do is shocking to me anymore. They were shelling their own citizens in Donetsk for 8 years and the world didn’t seem to care. Just remember it was our State Dept and CIA who used a color revolution to put little Z in power. Never forget that.

There is a lot of speculation about this from the Russian side. The Russians insist that they notified Ukraine that the POW’s would be transported by plane.
The first false claim by Ukraine was that the plane was carrying S-300 missiles. However, one blogger demonstrated that the Il-76 transport would hold very few S-300 missiles – at most 8 missiles. It would be an impractical expense to fly these missiles when they are regularly being sent by rail.

Some interesting speculation appeared on the Telegram channel Two Majors. The prisoner exchange was being carried out by Ukraine’s GRU (Intelligence Directorate) led by Budanov. The GRU was officially informed of the flight plan and the information was received and confirmed.
The first messages cheering the plane being shot down “with S-300 missiles on board” came from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, led by Zaluzhny. The Armed Forces would have been responsible for shooting down the plane.
Was this part of ongoing political power struggles? There has been a lot of talk of Budanov replacing Zaluzhny and a reported power struggle between Zaluzhny and Zelensky. Could Budanov have given a false message about the plane to Zaluzhny, so Zaluzhny would be blamed and discredited for the plane being shot down? The SBU has opened a criminal case that aims to arrest those responsible for the plane being shot down. Will that include Zaluzhny?

Which SAM system shot it down? We will probably know when the Russians tell us based on their forensic investigation as all SAM warheads fragment into different shaped shrapnel.
In the meantime the Patriot seems to be top of the mentions, probably for a variety of reasons including positive PR on how good it is. But technically the money is on a different system, the Buk-M1, the same weapon that shot down MH-17 in 2014.
The main reason for this is that the Patriot, whilst wheeled and described as mobile (a convoy of vehicles) is not a ‘shoot and scoot’ system taking maybe an hour to set up and then another to break down, both with a skilled team. Similar if the S-300 had been used. Normally this would not be a problem but in this case it would need to be sited within the range of Russian counter battery artillery systems.
The Buk on the other hand is a 4 SAM, tracked, tank sized system with its own radar able to quickly go where wheeled vehicles can’t and easily hide, a real ‘shoot and scoot’ system. Its missiles also had the range.

One of the Ukrainian prisoners who died on Wednesday had spoken to RT in 2022 about why he surrendered. Konstantin Danilchenko was on the plane shot down by Ukrainian missiles over Russia’s Belgorod Region, with no survivors.
”I wanted to live,” Danilchenko said in the video. “We are considered ‘meat’, and everyone understands why our leadership is so cold towards us.”
Ukraine has accused Russia of using “human wave” attacks on the battlefield. According to many Ukrainian POWs, it is Kiev that is actually doing so.

This BitChute video suggests there were POWs onboard that were in handcuffs, because there are many sets of severed hands found in the wreckage, likely separated from bodies if they were handcuffed to their seats.

This once again illustrates that no one can trust the Nazi / Communists in charge of Ukraine (the JoBama Administration). They lie, cheat, steal and are completely without a conscience or morals.
Note to American citizens: this should be illumination to those in our country who still believe that people/governments keep their word. They are willing to sacrifice their own people to achieve their agenda.

Addressing the Security Council, Ukraine’s deputy envoy, Kristina Gayovishin, stopped short of directly blaming Russia for shooting down the plane carrying the POWs. Nevertheless, she argued that “Russia bears full responsibility for all atrocities, deaths and destruction caused by the war.”
Gayovishin added that Ukrainian troops will continue to target Il-76s and other Russian military planes, including those operating in the “Belgorod-Kharkov direction.”
Ukraine lost a lot of men, didn’t they? Are the ones they have left a well-trained fighting force?

These things can happen in war, they do happen in war. That’s why it’s important to quit having wars all over the place.
There is something seriously cray-cray about this Ukrainian-American dictatorship in Kiev (and DC for that matter). Even during the Communist period, the leaders were not anywhere near as stupid and self-destructive as the current lot. As a deterrent, mutual self-destruction will not work with this crowd. They do not seem to have any sense of self-preservation. “Destroy everything” seems to be their mantra.
I am so done with Ukraine. They are as crooked as the day is long. Russia may not be the good guys, but I am starting to think they are better than these crooked ruthless people.

I have seen the Ukrainians burying they dead soldier in unbmarked mass graves.

They either steal the pay of these dead soldiers until such time they list them as missing

they skip the first part and just list them as MIA/AWOL so they can refuse to pay the families their benefits.

I see skepticism to the global regime’s narrative, but it’s till too slow in coming. People still believe the words of CNN, the NYT, UN Ambassadors, and United States Senators. And it’s a shame.
Friendly fire happens, but this goes to show a lack of structure, and basic organizational flaws. The leadership is obviously incompetent and unable to communicate important information. Not shocking.
