In a historic first the House of Representatives has voted to remove Kevin McCarthy from his position as Speaker of the House.

WASHINGTON DC – Democrats joined with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and his small group of conservative allies to vote to strip Kevin McCarthy of his gavel Tuesday. It’s unclear who would succeed McCarthy long term, though his allies expect he will try to run for speaker again.
Eight Republicans voted against McCarthy: Reps. Eli Crane (Ariz.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Bob Good (Va.), Nancy Mace (S.C.) and Tim Burchett (Tenn.).
Three House leaders have been floated as potential long-term replacements: Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). All three have disavowed any interest in replacing McCarthy — a reality that could change now that the Californian is officially out. (read more)

This week I paid very close attention to the Reps in my state . All but one of the nine US Reps in my state- a RED state, a MAGA state – voted with the Uniparty on both McCarthy’s CR and Ukraine Funding. I’ve written my disgust to my Rep and promised him I would work toward a primary challenger and have already sent emails out to folks in my District. We have one Democrat Rep.
So today, those same 8 voted “NAY” on the Motion to Vacate removing McCarthy. For me this is the ultimate validation of how deep the Uniparty is entrenched in Washington. Many of these 8 people are junior or sophomore Reps. Their votes this week violated just about every campaign promise they made. The Rollcall Vote must be published so that peopole around the nation can see Who’s with them and Who’s against them.
We won this battle today and closer to the war. From what I’ve been hearing the Uniparty is FURIOUS. They’ve already now charged Gaetz with campaign ethics. There will be bloody noses with this but we cannot relent. The Uniparty has taken off the gloves and will be coming at us.
To all those who have already thrown in the towel and believe nothing will change things, you need to roll up your sleeves and join those of us who want to regain our country and restore the Republic. I ask you, “If our nation and our ideals isn’t worth fighting for, what is in your estimation?”

It was not insane, it was McCarthy’s well-planned, well-executed strategem to force the House into passing another CR, which is exactly what he promised NOT to do in order to get the votes to become speaker. He promised “regular order” which means 12 individual spending bills, with up or down votes on amendments on the floor. McCarthy never intended to keep that promised, and worked with demonic intensity to make sure he would not keep it, including the seven week vacation. McCarthy is not on our side; he’s on their side, and he has been tremendously effective.
And this was all completely predictable in January, before McCarthy was elected speaker. It should have been obvious to Trump when he endorsed McCarthy for speaker, but Trump has a humongous, fatal inability to discern his friends from his enemies, which is why he has, at one time or another, endorsed four (4) of his most deadly and effective enemies: Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Brian Kemp and Ron DeSantis. Part of the reason for McCarthy’s CR capitulation on Saturday was to help VA Gov. Glen Youngkin, who is McCarthy/McConnell’s next “great white hope” to stop Trump.

When Boehner dropped out it was Paul Ryan (VP with Romney in 2012) who said he wasn’t interested but what did we get? Emmer is a Minnesota rino and Scalise, a part of Boehner’s leadership team, leaves me wanting. I know too little about Stefanik but a NY rep does not give me any more confidence than California McCarthy.
