The House of Representatives is currently debating the removal of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Earlier today, Democrats unanimously joined with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and 11 conservatives to support advancing the speaker’s removal. Now Matt Gaetz is defending himself.
(Via Politico) – The Republicans who voted to proceed to a final vote on evicting McCarthy were Reps. Warren Davidson (Ohio), Eli Crane (Ariz.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Victoria Spartz (Ind.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Bob Good (Va.), Nancy Mace (S.C.), Tim Burchett (Tenn.) and Cory Mills (Fla.). Spartz has already said she plans to flip her stance and ultimately support keeping McCarthy on.
The House is expected to take a final vote on McCarthy’s leadership Tuesday afternoon. Livestream Link:

And you good folks in Iowa have a MAJOR MALFUNCTION NAMED ASHLEY HINSON as “-R” 2-Iowa who elected this mess. Either she’s existed under a rock, is simply an imbecile, or both. If you missed this shrike this afternoon it perfectly depicts the g0pE rnc and its gross incompetents being elected. If you missed this unit groveling for McCarthy you need to back up on it. She must think not only her constituents are as ignorant as she is, but everyone else as well. https://libertyscore.conservativereview.com/ashley-hinson
Let this be a lesson to all of them.
Temp speaker is Patrick McHenry of NC. SERIOUS RINO. He hasn’t promised anything to the Freedom Caucus. What will he give up to the Dims before the next speaker is elected?

2020 presidential election
McHenry did not join the majority of Republican members of Congress who sided with the Trump campaign’s attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election. He voted in favor of certifying both Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s votes in the 2021 United States Electoral College vote count.

No one should be treated differently under the law because of who they are, Republican U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina told The Charlotte Observer Thursday. McHenry was responding to a question about his reaction to former President Donald Trump’s indictment on felony charges for working to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

McHenry, 47, who worked as a director in former President George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign, had also been instrumental in the bipartisan debt ceiling negotiations earlier this year, which passed the House in May by a vote of 314-117, and gained national attention for his opposition to increased banking oversight measures in the wake of Silicon Valley Bank’s collapse earlier this year.
McHenry, a key McCarthy ally, had also been speculated for a speakership run leading up to the vote to vacate the speaker, though McHenry backed McCarthy, asking on the House floor why far-right members of the House opposed the continued resolution passed Saturday to temporarily keep the government funded for 45 days, and asking why Republicans would “give up a conservative working majority for better outcomes and hand the keys over to the Democrats?”
No No Never
He felt that it was important to take a recess until next week. He has a real “sense of urgency!”
Patrick McHenry: “Give me a country led by democRAT communists….or give me death !!”
McHenry – the “secret” appointee.
From Wikipedia:
“In mid-2000, Karl Rove hired McHenry to be the national coalition director for George W. Bush‘s 2000 presidential campaign.[5] In late 2000 and early 2001, he was a volunteer coordinator for Bush’s inaugural committee. After working for six months in 2001 as a special assistant to Elaine Chao, the United States Secretary of Labor, McHenry returned to North Carolina and ran again for the North Carolina General Assembly, winning in the 2002 election.”

“@MattGaetz
is not causing the problems in Washington DC.
It was Gaetz, @LaurenBoebert
, @EliCraneAZ
and others who extracted concessions in exchange for giving McCarthy the votes to become House Speaker.
One of those promises was passing twelve appropriations bills for a budget again.
Another promise was giving Members at least 72 hours to read legislation.
Both of those promises were not upheld this weekend.
This ignores other promises that were ignored throughout the months McCarthy has been Speaker.
So, McCarthy broke his end of the bargain in the agreement.
Gaetz is now exercising the mechanism that he can to hold McCarthy accountable for breaking his bargain.
How is Gaetz the bad guy in that situation?”
Danger Close! Gaetz can debate with the best of them. He doesn’t back down.
So now we have our own October Revolution.
This right here…Honestly, if I were in Matts shoes Id be dropping bombs like this too.
Lets hope he doesnt accept the bribe and continues to drop truth bombs. Could still be holding out for a better offer.
He can act on principles and maintain his integrity because he accepts no PAC money. Those of us who approve of his actions must continue to express our approval through our contributions.
I have. A suggestion For poor hurt Kevin.
Give that looser Steve Cortes a call.
He can become a trusted political advisor and help you salvage your dead in-the water political career
I’m sure he comes highly recommended by DeSantis.
Losers all.
The entire performance by Matt Gaetz to oust McCarthy, from inception to execution, was exceptional. He didn’t just have a good strategy, he improvised and won every single battle they threw at him. If there were a Hall of Fame for politicians, this was worthy of induction.
I don’t see any strategy at all, to be honest. I get that it plays to MAGA, but don’t see how it actually advances anything.
Maybe we save a few hundred thousand Ukrainian soldiers from a horrible death!
Exactly. Cliffhanger theater is still theater. Nobody in the amphitheater likes a buzz-killer Scott. But you tell it like it is. Salute.
