But, again, if you read that section of the Durham report carefully, you will see why they would prosecute Trump and not Hillary, i.e., Hillary was too popular in the District of Columbia to be convicted in spite of mountainous evidence, and Trump was not too popular… so to hell with ‘equal protection of the law!’
So, Comey didn’t mind it at all if his remarks were misunderstood. He knew he had plausible deniability because DOJ does consider extreme popularity within certain jurisdictions.
For me, the whole thing is nonsense. A crime is a crime is crime. All these fluid exceptions just add to DOJ’s rep for playing favorites.
