I am grateful that God in his infinite goodness chose me, formed me, loved me, and never gives up on me. I can’t appreciate completely who and what I am, and should be, but I can trust that God made me with wonderful and loving intent.
I am grateful for family, and friends, especially since they’ve played such a generous part in my care and healing these last three years.
I am grateful for my home, not only a haven and refuge for our extended family, but a little place on the edge of the city where I get to watch for meteors, deer in the field, and ducks, geese, cranes, beavers, and muskrats on the little pond next to the house.
I am grateful that I’ve received life changing medical care.
I am grateful for the little church in the country where we worship, the priest who serves there to bring us the Bread of Life, the Word, and the people there who join in fellowship. I am grateful for the patrimony and gift of my faith, handed down and sacrificed for through these many centuries.
I am grateful for my grandchildren, and the opportunity to see the world through their eyes.
Gratitude can change the world, because it will change your life. May we all remember our blessings every day.
This is just a start.
If you have some other topic or gripe or snark, do not post it here. You’ve got plenty of other posts here to express yourself on.
Thank you.
I miss my pond and the geese and the frogs and the cherry tree.
God, thank you for so many other blessings.
come over anytime
I am grateful that I have learned to be grateful for small and great comforts. We are a very rich country stuffed full of possessions.
Instead of wishing that I had bigger, more, and better I look around my modest home and am grateful for the life’s conveniences that I was able to afford: washer/dryer, indoor plumbing, A/C, furnace, gas range, microwave, pots and pans, quality food, paid for vehicle, laptop, tablet, music, phone.
I am grateful to have running water, electricity, gas, and sewer services.
I am so grateful to Almighty God who has protected me, provided for me, and blessed me.
Someone at church mentioned about the electricity. He came back from vacation to find his electric bill and it was HIGH. But then he got to thinking, “I have electricity. I can be cool on a day like today when the temps are 100 degrees. And it was about $10 per day to be comfortable.” And he said that wasn’t something to be upset about, but to be grateful about.
A solemn “amen” to you, Dante. I grew up in a household where there was no indoor water or plumbing – my family hauled drinking water from 5 miles down the road. How blessed we are now for all of the simple conveniences afforded to us today!
Wow! Must have been very hard to bathe and wash dishes! I used my first “out house” when I was four years old and hated it. I have always, especially after my trip to China in 1987, really appreciated the plumbing in our country!!
Ha ha ha – an old silver teakettle did a lot of hard work heating water up for dishes in an old-style sink and baths in a round metal bathtub by the woodstove. But we didn’t miss what we didn’t have, so it all seemed pretty simple. My parents raised 7 kids, put 2 through college, and we were all grateful for those blessings.
Dang COliberty, we must have been neighbors. We hauled drinking water from an artesian well about the same distance. The government built house had a shallow well with an electric pump but electricity wasn’t there yet. The water had so much iron in it is why we hauled it even after power was installed. I was the youngest of 8 kids. I put our bathroom, 1st washer and dryer, 1st A/C in that old house. When I was a kid, I thought I had it bad. My older brothers and sisters and parents really went through some bad stuff. Thank you Lord for for looking out for me.
Amen, Jerry. Years after we all had left home and built our own lives, we would gather each year at Mom & Dad’s and build onto the old home as well to make life easier for them. Helped put in a well, plumbing, bathroom and sewing room for Mom. And had a blast doing all that!
So inspirational to read all these posts.
When I look back, I think to myself there is no way I could have made it this far without some helping hand pulling me out of the rattraps I got into. The nuns told me long ago that I have my own personal guardian angel advocating for me. I believe that to this day. Which is why I’m still around, happy most of the time and thankful most of the time.
Me, too! I became a working musician in Hollywood in the 1970s after my first husband left me and God pulled me out of some pretty bad rattraps for which I am eternally grateful. (Before he died in 1978 my father said: “We thought we almost lost you.” and that just killed me 🙁
I am grateful for my 3 sons and the Grandson that I raised starting at age 3. All of them have turned into great productive adults.
My parents were very hard-working and poor. Both grew up with seven brothers and sisters. My mom’s father abandoned the family right after mom was born in 1918 and returned to Ireland. My dad’s father was a disabled New York City taxi driver.
Growing up in New York City we lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment in a private house. My parents slept in the living room on a pull-out sofa. I shared the small bedroom with my two younger brothers. The apartment didn’t even have a front door. Just the stairs coming up from the first floor.
I went to a strict Catholic School that was a 40 minute ride by two city buses every day. My shoes often time had holes in soles. If I stepped in a frozen puddle ice water would soak my socks. Lunch was a dry sandwich which I usually threw away and if I had 3 cents in my pocket I would buy a container of chocolate milk from the Sister at the small snack counter. My school bag was filed with heavy textbooks that weighed more than I did!
My mother’s brother Uncle Tommy still tells me…”We were dirt poor and we had everything!”
Yes, I am grateful for everything including the struggles my family endured. Im grateful for son, my daughter and my grandchildren among many, many other blessings! Thank you.
Lunch was a dry sandwich which I usually threw away and if I had 3 cents in my pocket I would buy a container of chocolate milk
We were dirt poor and we had everything!
Trillions would not see that as poor. You still had everything. GBA
Uncle Tommy was a smart man. ❤🙏
❣️❣️❣️
I am thankful for the ability to function on my own! At my age, things just aren’t what they used to be. May I be a better person today than I was yesterday! Thank you Heavenly Father for all you do and all you’ve done! Thank you for all the chances you gave me!!! Amen
I am grateful for my family, leftish 🤣 or rightish, because at the end of the day we support and love each other.
My greatest lesson on gratitude was in reading Corrie ten Boom’s A Hiding Place.
When she and her sister were in a terrible concentration camp for helping Jews escape from the Netherlands, Corrie had trouble finding things to be thankful about. Her sister thanked God for everything, even the fleas.
After the camp was liberated, Corrie found out that it was the fleas that kept the guards out of the barracks. The fact that the guards did not come in meant that the prisoners could pray and worship in peace.
So, I try to be thankful, even for the fleas of life. We never know how important those fleas are. Thank you God, even for our troubles and concerns, that our minds are alive to what goes on around us.
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” Corrie ten Boom
I love that story. They had one bible they managed to get somehow and the guards would have definitely found it!
Corrie’s story touched me deeply, too. It’s always good to re-read every now and then.
A little story:
Thirty years ago, I heard a message from a missionary who was visiting our church. Wish I could remember her full name, and specific country she served. (Central or South America) Her first name was Carolyn and that evening she described her mission work in that foreign land.
Miss Carolyn said that the mission board provided a house for her to live – small yet comfortable.
She told about a young man whose job was to take care of this house and its grounds.
She said that this man was always cheerful, pleasant, and gladly did his job.
One day the fridge broke in her house and a new one arrived. Later, this young helper asked if he could have the large fridge box.
Miss Carolyn told him, of course, and he was profusely thankful.
She wondered why he would be so elated with an empty box, until someone informed her that he did not have a house. He lived in discarded boxes.
This true story pierced my heart that night. And taught me a wonderful lesson about gratitude.
Most of us have NO idea how it is to live without daily essentials.
But this man had learned how to be content and thankful in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for is – in Christ Jesus.
Thank you for such
a lovely reminder to
be grateful.
I worked with a young
lady who had a huge jar
with a pack of multi
colored post-its
and a pen on the table
in her home.
Every night she would place
the date on a post-it and write
what she was grateful for
that day.
Then she would fold the post-it
in half and place it in the jar.
There is always so much to be
grateful for everyday. This
morning I am grateful for a
beautiful clear view of the mountains
which are covered in green. Cool
weather and a nice walk in the
park with a friend and a chat
with fellow dog walker.
Once again seeing a lady in
a wheelchair and her caretaker
with their cute little scruffy dog
at the park.
And the day has just begun!
I am grateful and thankful
to the point sometimes of
being labeled a Pollyanna.
That is fine with me though
because it means that the ugly
and darkness in the world has
not taken control of me.
I always thought her method with
the jar would be a great learning
tool for those who have children-
especially during their adolescence
years. Or any person who is
going through rough times.
It has always amazed me how God allowed me to live long enough to have grandchildren, that in it self is a miracle. Believe me when I say it took a lot of miracles to get me to be prosperous and old enough to have grandchildren.
For those that are in their 20’s/30’s, it is easier to live to be old than to dying young! That is a truth overlooked by most of the human race.
I am grateful that my parents gave me a chance at this life and that subsequently I have been blessed by the gift of two daughters.
Most especially, I am grateful that God scared life back into me on the Epiphany of 2021 when the GOV profaned the American people.
In despair, I immediately recognized the psychological operation for what it was, an attempt demonize a majority who did not accept the Election Theft.
Thank God for guiding me away from folly that evening and for helping teach lessons of true friendship in its wake.
I am grateful for Menagerie and Sundance and for all “vrai” Treepers and our determination to restore the American Republic while respecting other sovereign nations.
Thank you too, with gratitude, for President Donald John Trump for leading by example to fight the Leviathan Swamp.

I am surrounded by grey rocks myself. It is a huge shale layer that is bounded by a limestone layer below it. and a sandstone layer above where that has not weathered off completely. I live at an elevation of about 5000 feet and at some point in time, this area was below sea level. There are fossils imbedded in our grey rocks that prove it. God made me into a geophysicist and what I learned has strengthened my belief in His presence in all of the things of this world.
Pokey, “Grey Rock” is a play on words for me: as a child I grew up at the base of Mount Greylock in the Berkshires.
I like to collect “Rocks” for fun, for use in gardening, and I also like to play and listen to rock n roll.
At my developmental stage, I have some grey.
It sounds like you live in an interesting locale. God bless you Pokey and thank you for your response.
I thought it might have been a play on the Black Rock investing gang. I am glad to have read your reply, which means you have a sense of humor. 🙂 I live south of Pike’s Peak and near a large reservoir on the Arkansas River. I like to give people enough info to make them curious to do some exploring on Google Earth, or whatever is a favored mapping site. By the way, I should call myself WhiteRockMan, now that I am in my geriatric stage. God has blessed us all.
Good morning Pokey, you WhiteRockMan!
Our dialogue here has reminded that I am grateful that I was blessed with a quality elementary school education.
Our little school on a hill provided many quality out of classroom learning opportunities, including a tour of the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown Mass, a fossil hunting adventure at John Boyd Thacher State Park outside of Albany New York, and multiple outdoor experiences including a 2 night ‘survival trip’ at the Hawley State Forest in Western Massachusetts.
Tomorrow is my Dad’s 80th birthday and I am blessed to be able to go see him and my Mom for the celebration.
The best part for him will be to see his wife’s greatest accomplishments again. God speed getting there. It is the absolute best thing you can do for them, trust me.
Thank you, Pokey. There are my two brothers in Minnesota, too!
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” – Psalm 103:1-2
I needed this! I am grateful for my little grandson who wakes up with the sweetest smile and throws his little arms around my neck, tells me good morning and that he loves me!
CornFlakes…Nope! Seriously he is the absolute best way to start my day.
I am grate that since I was 4 yrs old, God always had His hand on me. Slowly over time revealing Himself through His holy Word. I pray more of my family may know Him too. But what a blessing to not live life thinking that everything is random and that evil rules the day. No no no! He is God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God, three persons. Jesus took the scroll and opened the seals. One day every knee will bow and the knowledge of God will cover the earth as the water covers the sea, both the depths (densely populated cities) and the shallows (fly over country). Now we follow behind Him, as He goes forth conquering and to conquer with the gospel. May He grant us strength and courage to go up against the giants trusting in Him alone.
^^^^^^
I am grateful in all things. God has been so gracious. Our Heavenly Father is loving and righteous and the gift of mercy and grace in our Lord Jesus is something I cling to daily.
I am grateful for reminders that there are many good people in the world. This morning I read about Navy veteran Anthony Meizis who recently passed away at 80 and his only surviving family, an elderly sibling could not make the funeral.
When the funeral director learned he would be buried without anyone to attend the service, she reached out on social media. 300 motorcyclists responded to escort him to the Massachusetts National Cemetary in Bourne where he was buried with full military honors.
The photos of the long train of motorcycles following the hearse made me well up w tears of gratitude at the many good people who came out to honor a man they did not know.
Thank you, to all you good people out there. I’m sure his elderly sibling who could not make the funeral was grateful, but I am guessing many who heard about it were as grateful as I was today to be reminded —— the world is not wholly overtaken with evil –the opposite … good is around us every day.
Menagerie,
Thank you for sharing. Sounds like you have a slice of Heaven there. I pray you continue to be blessed.
We are also grateful for all the little things nowadays.
Keeping life simple. That’s what we can have a semblance of control over.
Faith is how we walk. Trust in God as we live into whatever is given for the day.
Stay well in your wonderful place called Home.❤️
Menagerie, thank you so much for this post. It is needed very much in these days of evil and negativity, and I sometimes lose sight of all of the things for which I am very grateful.
We are fortunate to live in this beautiful, bountiful and FREE country. I will never forget that, and always be grateful for it.
That was beautiful, Menagerie, thank you. Sometimes in our troubled and busy lives we forget to stop and thank G-d for all He has blessed us with.
And I’m so happy you received the comfort, care and healing you needed. Have a blessed day.
I’m grateful for my mother, who was obstinate, willful, honest, and equally demanding on herself as she was on others. She could get up off the floor from crise cross applesauce without using her hands well into her 90’s and on the evening after the doctors removed one of her kidneys she resumed her daily exercise, but woe-be to any physical therapist that came in her sight.
She lingered in hospice much longer than she planned and said she just wanted go like an Indian, chose a good day to die and then be gone. I explained that it didn’t really happen that way; the old Indian wandered off and was eaten by wolves or worse nibbled to death squirrels. Mom said, “Heaven won’t take me, and Hell is afraid I’ll take over.” She refused morphine, just wanted to listen to hymns while I rubbed her feet.
I’m grateful for my 6 year-old granddaughter, who is all piss and vinegar, loving to animals and mean to anything or person who looks like NO. When her preschool teacher tried to bribe her with stickers to cooperate with quite time, she said, “You can keep your stickers.” She’s not one for a cuddle, just wants me to tell her stories while I rub her feet.
Well, you’re lucky: sounds like Old Joe won’t want to get too close to this kid!
Amen.
What a beautiful, much needed post.
Thank you.
Dearest Menagerie, your post is so timely for me personally.
This past week, I lost my beloved sister after two plus years of dealing with breast cancer. I feel so blessed that God, in his infinite wisdom gave this beautiful soul to me – and I was privileged to call my sister for so many years.
I so need to look past my own pain and see how blessed I’ve been and how she is no longer in any discomfort. I take comfort know she is with Jesus, who conquered death – death on the Cross. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26).
My brother sent this to me and it seems so very appropriate:
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no
longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or
hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? No,
despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ,
who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from
God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers
of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in
the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to
separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our
Lord. (Romans 8:35, 37-39)
Beautiful
Oh, MT, my deepest condolences. I pray for G-d’s comfort to wrap you in love. And what a wonderful brother to send you such a beautiful message. G-d bless.
Several of us at my church volunteer to teach in our children’s ministry. Today was my turn. Part of the lesson was on counting our blessings and the other was on this passage from Romans.
I am so sorry for your loss. I was blessed with 6 sisters and only 1 is left here on earth. I understand exactly what you mean when you thank God for blessing you with such a beautiful soul. Please know that your sister was blessed with you too and that you will be going to meet her in glory someday.
So sorry for your loss. Peace be with you.
MTeresa, I’m saddened to hear of such deep loss – your sister’s passing.
It’s one of life’s greatest sorrows – to lose our loved ones. Our hearts are left broken with a huge hole.
And only God can heal these broken hearts and bind up our wounds.
He will fill your heart again with gladness and singing.
Please take courage and be strengthened by His Spirit and His promises.
Weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
I am glad to hear of your faith – in Christ – and your sister’s.
Please be comforted that even though her earthly existence is no more, she is now in the presence of Jesus.
A place of quiet rest, with no more sickness, tears, pain, or sin – but an abundant life of Peace with Him.
She is now in eternal, intimate fellowship with our Gracious God.
I know she awaits you there, too.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
“the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. (1)
Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. (2)
Isaiah 57:1-2
I pray for you, MTeresa.
I am grateful for this community and for Sundance and Menagerie and all who make it safe haven to visit. I am grateful for everything God has given me and I am thankful he continually gives me eyes to see what is true. Thank you for this thread!
A attitude of gratitude gets an amen.
I’m grateful to have become an American and finding faith in my Lord Jesus in Dallas Texas !
I’m grateful for the Constitution and heroic heritage of the United States.
People who made a difference in 1776 – before and after.
I’m thankful for all veterans who fight for us.
I’m thankful for the CTH platform.
Thanks be to GOD.
❤️
The grateful pray continuously.
My favorite Parable is that of The Lost Sheep. Even though I left the Church for 35 years, God never gave up on me. My mother’s prayers during that time and God’s persistence resulted in my crossing paths with a young priest and through his patient catechizing brought me to a love of the Church and a journey toward a deeper faith. I am now a daily Mass and communicant. Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Exercises Retreats with Miles Christi priests have lead me deeper into the faith through the reading of some of the spiritual classics. I am grateful for God’s love and mercy and for His grace to respond to Him.
Thank you for posting this. It is a timely reminder of how blessed we are.
I’m grateful for a universe filled with love, for the love of my family, for the love I feel for all the kids I’ve taught, for Nature in all its grandeur, and for the kindness of friends and strangers….
❤🙏 Will change the world! God bless us, one and all….
Lovely post full of peace and serenity that only God can give.
I am grateful for sobriety.
God made us all to be beings of this world. He gave all of the beings of our world the ability to instinctively know when we encounter another being of this world. The reason why we can domesticate other animals is this gift from God to all of us. We can place plants and trees where we can get the most benefit from them because we know that they are also beings of our world.
Where I live, there aren’t as many beings, but where they are they can be easily seen, touched, felt, and smelled. Their struggle to be what they are is more easily understood by all of us who live here. Living in the desert is a whole different experience, but one which is beautiful. We are all connected in this way.
I have a few large sand lizards living under my deck this Summer. I can’t tell them apart very well and I have to call them all “Stubby” when I talk to them. They turn their heads funny like puppies will when they hear something you say, but they aren’t sure what to think of it. This is a questioning look that is universal among all of the beings in the world and we were all born with the ability to communicate with other beings in our world. The point is that one loving God must have created everything in our world.
Someday soon, we will probably get a chance to find out whether beings from other worlds can also communicate with us in the same ways, or if their skills are limited to their own world. I think God gave us everything we will ever need.
Thanks, Menagerie.
Very grateful for your posts, Menagerie.
Very grateful for Sundance and The Conservative Treehouse.
Thank you for the opportunity to affirm the many reasons for my gratitude, but there are too many to list.
Foremost I am grateful for the chance to better myself. For the opportunity to read these wonderful comments and learn from others.
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”
Albert Einstein
The very first sentence was actually poetic, and brought to mind Gerard Manley Hopkins, specifically Pied Beauty.
That poem ends with “Praise Him.” How fitting:)
“…for rose-moles all in a stipple on trout that swim…” Thanks for the reminder of this lovely piece. ❤
My father told me years ago that if you have a warm roof over your head, food to eat, medical care, and the love of family and friends, you are a rich person (keeps me focused when times are tight) He also reminded me that half the world doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from
I give thanks before every meal and ask The Almighty to please give everyone nutritious food to eat and clean water to drink, especially the little defenseless ones.
Amen
Attitude of gratitude ✝️
Grateful for you and your heart.

I am grateful for this site, which grounds me when I drift toward panic in this crazy world. I am especially grateful to Menagerie for reminding me of the small but incredibly important things in our lives. God bless Sundance, Menagerie, and all of you Treepers!
Thank you Menagerie for your reminder that faith in our Lord and Savior is our #1 priority in life. I get to attend several Masses a week in a small country church in the beautiful Texas hill country. I want to thank you and Sundance for your wisdom and courage. May Our Lord and Savior heal you and keep you safe. And may we all be kept free from temptation and delivered from evil. Amen
Amen. I am grateful and blessed.
Thank you, Sundance.
I am so grateful that I have Christ as my Savior. He gave me a life worth living.
What a beautiful topic for a Sunday morning! I am grateful for the love, loyalty, stability, acceptance given to me by this man I married 30 years ago. He has stuck with me, supported me unconditionally through lots of challenges and in turn has taught me the example of living a peaceful, stable, tolerant, patience (“Jen you really should think and wait before you shoot off that email to your sister, why not sleep on it and decide in the morning…”) and purpose driven life. My childhood lacked these qualities and together we passed these ways on to our 3 children, also with many health and learning challenges of their own that they persevere through and make us so proud of them each and every day. Middle age is a blessed stage of life when you are able to slow down, reflect on your life in the rearview mirror, re-evaluate what the future holds, and be able to devote more time and purposeful energy to God, faith, church family, friends as well as enjoy the company and celebrate the accomplishments of the children we have raised.
I am grateful to God, for rescueing me from Satans grasp of addiction.
Grateful for his grace, in allowing me to live in, and witness these unprecedented historical times.
Grateful for the miracles I see all around me, every day.
Grateful he has blessed us with so many truth speakers, PDJT, KL, Sundance and so many more.
Who is KL?
