But seriously…. We all know what this is. The weaponization of the DOJ is the #1 topic of national discussion; even when they pretend not to notice the weaponization of the justice system is the #1 topic of national discussion.
Main Justice, a network of affiliated Lawfare minds, runs in an echo-chamber of ideological group think. There’s no one in the room to say, ‘hey guys, um, hold up – this looks like weaponization, targeting and witness intimidation‘, because they really are weaponizing, targeting and intimidating witnesses.
Then suddenly when the world says, ‘damn, do you see this example’? Suddenly, the corrupt frenzy boil slows to a simmer and the ‘whoops they can see us‘ backtracking begins.
They never were trying to put him in jail before his testimony. But, clearly they were trying to intimidate.
Effectively saying: “Dare to testify against Biden, then go into a prison system controlled by Biden’s Law enforcement apparatus–same one Epstein was in.”
Perhaps that is what Sundance is saying.
If it works, Archer will backtrack on what he is supposed to testify to, go mute, or not show.
Who would want to testify that Joe Biden is a crook; then got into a Biden controlled prison system?
The thing is, the Congress already has a whole bunch of information from Mr. Archer. He has said things already, so he can’t backtrack or he is in even more trouble.

I thought it was weird that everywhere you looked someone was telling us what Archer was going to testify about. I’m sure there will be more to his testimony, and hopefully he isn’t worried about getting suicided.

I have a feeling Obama’s people knew EXACTLY who to appoint. Lawfare told Obama “These are the people we can trust”. Remember Obama’s words in the Michael Flynn case: “Make sure you look over things and have the right people on it.“
But if Archer prevaricates, obfuscates, or no shows, the Feds will still throw him in prison and treat him like a dog.
Maybe Archer isn’t really the “threat” they are worried about, and this is a warning to others who may be on the fence about testifying before Congress.
I keep coming back to the “platespinner” analogy.
THEY have passed the point where the performance normally ends, as it is obvious to all the spinner can not keep all of the plates spinning.

I have spent my adult life in law enforcement and corrections. NEVER seen a court filing documents on a weekend, but here they do??? That should be all you need to know.
There is no rational explanation for this. This AUSA (assuming they made the same AUSA who filed the original letter file the backtrack) is burning the midnight oil all weekend sending electronic communications to a judge whose clerks would not be working on a weekend.
Then we’d have to believe he’s sending routine communications about corrections policy — not something AUSAs typically care about — on a high-profile case (assume multiple levels of clearance in the office, probably through a deputy to the US Attorney) and copying the defense lawyers, who go straight to Maria Bartiromo. If this were a true case of a low-level screw-up causing a huge misunderstanding, the DOJ would have spokespeople out in the media clarifying, not sending a quiet follow-up letter.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors at SDNY, our most high-profile district are flat-footed and don’t realize that this letter on the eve of Devon Archer’s testimony will cause controversy. We’re supposed to believe they are not tracking this hearing intently and probably sending an attorney down to DC on the Acela to confer with DOJ lawyers during the hearing.
This stinks worse than the Epstein cover-up.

Agree, this is above and beyond obstruction of justice; and the outcome impacts the nation, not just a few people.
Epstein was bad, letting a bad dude off and then letting him get offed; but this obstruction at this high a level means this justice department will stop at nothing to protect Biden. Nobody is supposed to be above the law and if they are for treason, what is the point of the law.
This has to go through the process even if they all get off Scott free because otherwise there is no law for anyone with respect to anything.
Their credibility would be more realistic if they went to the local greasy spoon and gave affirmation using a stack of banana pancakes.

The last 2 sentences of the letter have the DOJ saying it was their idea to make sure that the witness was free to testify, and that the DOJ recognized that it was the judge’s prerogative to decide if or when the witness might surrender.
What high-school-level smarmy backtracking. Pity that the letter will exist in the future for the DOJ to point to it and say, “See? We were the good guys.”

In some matters, Archer is between a rock and a hard place. He has already shared and if he changes what he already shared, they have him on lying. OTOH, keeping his mouth shut as much as possible would be his best move.

How clever of Negar Tekeei to use his CYA letter to remind Devon Archer that WHERE he will serve his sentence hasn’t been decided yet. Testify the right way, and Devon’s off to tending a golf course. Blurt out bad things, and it’s “Ola Gitmo” or the Yuma Territorial Prison circa 1880. No witness intimidation in that letter, no sirree.
There is no doubt both DOJ letters constitute a threat, but I also heard Archer believes he was unfairly convicted, as he actually lost millions on the deal with the Indian Trust Fund scandal. He has twice appealed his conviction.
At some point he has to resent the Bidens for abandoning him despite helping make millions for the family.
They really will stop at nothing. The stink on these people is old and deep. It disgusts me to think of how badly this government has degenerated since our founders.
