At a minimum, it appears that the DOJ was attempting to tarnish Archer’s testimony by reminding everyone on the eve of the hearing that he’s a convicted felon. If the effort also happened to influence Archer’s testimony by inducing memory failure, then the DOJ would have killed two birds with one intimidation stone.
They are so blatant – but perhaps that means panicked actions, not thought through, blame games behind the scenes.
