Finding solid information, accurate data, to update the perspective of the ongoing boycott of Bud Light products is a little challenging. You would think the data would be easily found; alas, in this era of hyper partisanship, data that would reflect the truth of the situation is less visible. Go figure.
That said, this market share report from Union does give us a little more perspective on the outcome. According to the market share report, the decline in Bud Light sales overall is 34.2% over the past six months. Interestingly, some regions have much larger declines than others. For California, “Union reported only minor changes in market dominance in the state. Bud Light’s sales share in California slid by 0.8 points to 6.6%, while Miller Lite’s sales share increased by 1.7 points to 12%.”
(Via MSM) – The hospitality consumption data platform Union reported a significant decline in Bud Light’s sales share in the Carolinas. From April through June 30, the brand’s sales share dropped by 6.9 points, falling from 19.4% to 12.5%. This decline has been attributed to the fallout from Bud Light’s partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, which sparked controversy and calls for a boycott.
[…] Local bar owners in the Carolinas have also reported a significant impact on Bud Light’s sales. For instance, Chris Dimattia, the owner of Recovery Room Tavern in Charleston, SC, mentioned that he used to sell 10 cases of Bud Light each week, but now only sells one to three cases of the boycott brew, resulting in a 70% to 90% drop in sales. At Blind Tiger Pub, another Charleston bar, Bud Light sales are described as “almost non-existent” by general manager Clayton Dukes. Dukes expressed his concern that the boycott may persist for an extended period, prompting him to replace Bud Light draft with Michelob Ultra due to the low sales.
The negative impact on Bud Light’s sales was not limited to the Carolinas. In New York and New Jersey, the brand also lost ground to its rival, Miller Lite. The combined sales share of Bud Light in these states fell by 5.1 points, while Miller Lite’s sales share increased by about two points.
Similarly, in Texas, where Bud Light faced significant challenges after the controversy, Miller Lite now holds a commanding 12% sales share, more than double that of Bud Light’s 5.6% share. Surprisingly, the boycott’s impact on Bud Light sales was negligible in California, where Mulvaney hails from. Union reported only minor changes in market dominance in the state. Bud Light’s sales share in California slid by 0.8 points to 6.6%, while Miller Lite’s sales share increased by 1.7 points to 12%.
[…] Bud Light’s significant sales slide by 34.2% over the past six months has put the brand in a challenging position. The fallout from Mulvaney’s controversial posts and the subsequent partnership has evidently had a negative impact on the brand’s sales and reputation. (full article)
It would be interesting to map out the percentage change in Budweiser market share and overlay with a comparative map of regional political affiliation.
Regardless of the company ability to overcome the challenge, a total decline in sales of 34.2% over the six-month period would indicate the brand will not soon recover position. Going woke has consequences.
Such a map would make a for an incredibly useful demographic tool, far more reliable than most polling. I’d wager that the worse things are for Bud Light, the higher the Republican/Conservative margin of voters vs Democrats. Comparing election results with sales figures could indicate which states the Dems are stealing elections from.
The Dems will steal the election from whatever states they need. See 2020 Presidential Election for details.

creatures do then we deserve what we get.

It’s not a victory because the people with power didn’t suffer for it, the little people did. But it does serve as a rally-’round-the-flag moment that could lead to an actual victory somewhere down the line. Moral victories are better than no victories when the odds are this stacked against you, though, so they’re worth taking.

The only reason you are seeing a spike in major metro areas is the poor bastards who are being crushed by the economy don’t care..
They see an 85% discount on beer, it is a sale regardless of brand.
Dreamers get crushed by the economy after the socialism runs out.
The other reason may or may not be migrant hustlers passing out grift cards and up-charging dreamers for discounted beer, but you would need a sophisticated con mob sanctioned for legal plunder to pull that off. My opinion only.

There’s a large group of people from south of the border who love bud lite. They won’t care if it’s as gay as butt edge edge. It’s cheap and they get conditioned to drink it.
Wishful thinking? You offer NO data.
I agree. This is exactly the kind of comment that really irks me. How can Piggy make this sweeping statement and indict an entire group of people? It’s childish.

Not true. Mexican people don’t drink butt light. They know what’s up!
I agree. Bud Light was very popular back In Las Cruces NM when I live there and that is a 70% Hispanic town and I am not talking illegals. They are traditional Catholics. Now I live in western NC and I can assure you the Hispanics are not drinking Bud Light. They are culturally Catholics and family…they will not be caught dead drinking Bud Light.
And Ripple is still available in my neck of the woods….along with Mad Dog 2020 so no worries.

It hasn’t been all that cheap historically. Miller Lite is considerably less expensive at my local Walmart and pretty much everywhere else in my area. I have always considered Budweiser in any form to be a not very good, over-priced beer.
Not sure I agree with this poll. I just did a shopping center redesign project in Thousand Oaks CA, so cal, Ventura County, but adjacent to LA county. Inspected a liquor store. They had zero Bud Lite in the cooler or on the shelves, BUT their back storage area was filled to the brim with old BL boxes and cases. Quote the liquor store owner: “We cannot give away Bud Lite, we re sold out of Coors Light, can’t get enough of that in. I’ll give you a case of Bud Lite if you want” … PS: Said NO Thanks!!!!
Thousand Oaks is one of the few “red” enclaves in CA
Well it’s next to Simi Valley / Reagan Library so there’s that.
Latino people are the major bud light consumes in CA. They are not following this issue.
Busch Gardens, like its domestic beers, have not been the same since Inbev (Interbrew from Belgium merged with AmBev from Brazil) acquired Anheuser-Busch in 2008.
Michelob is a Budweiser product! So anyone drinking it are still supporting Bud IMHO!
People don’t drink much Bud Light to begin with here in NorCal. There are tons of micro breweries and that is where all the action is on beer. The sour, fruity , dark, stout etc. That is what I see here.
That’s what I was thinking. I doubt Bud Light was very popular in California in the first place.
Yesterday I went to a memorial service for my union electrician neighbor at the electrician union hall. I went up to the bar to get a ginger ale and saw they had three beers on tap, Bud light, Budweiser and Black and Tan. Almost everyone I saw while standing in line were getting Bud Light. I wanted to say something snarky, but it was not the time or place for me to be snarky.
Who makes the Black and Tan? That is usually a type of beer, not a brand name. For instannce, Yuengling makes a very good black and tan.
Just wondering.
Oh dear! That’s a ‘her’? I want to run just looking at them! Way creepy! I wouldn’t want my kids or grandkids anywhere near this person 😳
This is a biological male tranny pretending to be a female.
Not surprising at all. Hey though, I haven’t heard much about their ‘fires’ this year. August is hot.
Strange thing happen to me at my little local convent store regarding Bud Light two weeks or so ago. I was buying myself a cold soda after doing some yard work and a little man went in an got two cases of Bud Light. I thought it was a bit strange as this store does not sell that large of quanity of beer, in fact it was the first time I saw anyone buying more then one bottle or can and even that was rare; doubt they had more then dozen of cases of all brands of beer. I did not accually see him purchase the box. He was a little particular in apearance looked scrufy which is out of place here in my town in New England.
Walking back to my car, I glanced into his car (did not know at the time) as it was parked next to mine an it was a bit beat up. It was filled with a bunch of Bud Light cases. I then went in my vehicle and started on my soda adjusting the mirror etc. enjoying the air conditioning, do not have it in my house, basicly chilling out as I was quite hot and dealing with Canadian EH air, from the yard work. He comes to his little car and opens the back door, it was filled from floor to roof with Bud Light cases, more then I first saw glancing at his car. The next day, in the next town, I spotted him at another small store doing the same thing. Never say this man before or after this, I would remember him, he just does not fit.
I have no idea what was going on. He purchased too much to drink before it went bad (if Bud Light can), nor dressed well enough to be a delivery or sales person (he was very scruffy). Maybe he was resaling it, but these little convent stores are not as cheap as the supermarkets or big box stores.
Maybe a local Tranheuser Busch distributor is paying people to simulate demand so the store doesn’t drop them? Trying to keep their jobs.
California was never fratty in the first place
Most of Biden’s 81 million votes got harvested in California.
Anything California is for; be against.
Finding solid unmanipulated data on anything is impossible these days
It should be considered, that this whole episode has been contrived by the executives/Board of Directors of Inbev with the express purpose of harming the Budweiser brand.
This serves several functions…
1) It removes Budweiser as a flagship brand and thus allows InBev to remove the AB from AB Inbev and the company can revert to the Inbev name.
2) it devalues the once highly lucrative “distributorhips” into financially less advantageous position allowing InBev to renegotiate the margins on the distributors and having them distribute more of the stable of brands that were not part of the initial distributorship model.
3) It puts pressure on the unions representing the workers in the Budweiser breweries to accept concessions.
Tap beer. It’s still mostly bud lite
My hero Mark Steyn is always mocking mainstream, establishment Republicans (like his former colleagues at National Review) because they can never find the proverbial hill to die on.
I fear that hill is looming.
Forced sex changes for children, with the confiscation of those children from their parents, now seems a real possibility. And the invasion of California might become a major battle front in that war.
I think that soon we will have many hills to die on…
It won’t matter whether your someone who isn’t willing to hand over your firearms, a home owner, someone who enjoys taking road trips AKA personal liberty, someone who doesn’t want to be injected with experimental drugs/vaccine passports etc, someone who doesn’t want CBDC’s AKA the government tracking/controlling what/how much of anything you buy with your money, a Christian who isn’t willing to be indoctrinated, an advocate for secure elections or a parent who doesn’t want the government, K-12 schools or the professional classes AKA doctors, psychologists and “experts” raising your kids- each of us are going to have to pick a hill or submit to tyranny.
I pray people put their cellphones down and start paying attention. The people behind this are evil psychopaths who are hellbent on lording over the “serfs.”
Liberals have bred so many idiots in this country. Bless their souls. We should take this moment to thank Disney and Bud Light for inspiring boycotts and helping curb inflation.
It’s a fine line this boycotting… going with it, but something nags at me – NWO could use this to further their agenda too. They destroyed many businesses during lockdown and promoted online purchases which propels us closer to getting used to cashless. The more companies we shut down with boycotting , the more we need to make purchases locally not online purchasing… That ‘s what I am doing. no amazon, no paypal, no feeding the beast whenever I can avoid it.
And the Tranny beer will increase market share in San Francisco … now that Anchor Steam Beer’s owner has decided to … *ahem* … “pull out” of San Francisco and file bankruptcy. Not to worry though … Mayor London Breed is handing out $25k checks for ANY retailer brave enough to open a storefront on the poopy streets of San Francisco
I understand there’s an outfit thereabouts that is angry about Butt Light refusing to fight back and treble down on the woke nonsense, so they are labeling their seltzer vodka product “Gay Water.”
I’m not living in as Red an area as I’d like, but I truly feel for you in the belly of the beast down there.
I suppose the actual question is, despite sales in CA going down by 0.8 points, etc., how many people in CA are actually drinking Bud Light? Or Miller? If there were initially only, say 100 people actually buying it, and now you have 101 people buying it, who cares? I wouldn’t think that CA would be a big part of Bud Light sales, even before this issue. (And, by the way, remember the issue of RELATIVE vs ABSOLUTE when it comes to these percentages….we should have learned the difference during covid.)
Good. MAGA
Like the Kardashians, Dylan Mulvaney is famous for being famous. The American public is maddeningly shallow, ignorant, and, in many cases, stupid. It is no wonder we have the current political system and administration. It will be a miracle if we recover from the insult that has been imposed upon us.
I’m betting most Californians didn’t drink Bud Light to begin with. They are into all the craft and IPO type beers. I live here and even the conservatives I know didn’t drink BL to begin with. That might help explain the lack of impact, that, and the fact that we are over run with leftists anyway.
