Last night I participated in a conversation. This article is written as an outcome of that conversation, as requested by those who participated.
Essentially, the framework of the conversation, as I initially listened, is best described as a series of questions amid a group of smart intellectual types who are very understanding of the nature of our current situation.
In various forms they were asking each other the same question. What happened in the last several years that caused Democrats, leftists and the traditional political left to switch positions on their advocacy?
Liberalism literally went from railing against Big Govt, to embracing corrupt Big Govt. Why and how did this happen?
In short, it was the same line of questioning I have seen asked by Tucker Carlson, Glenn Greenwald, Tulsi Gabbard and various traditionally liberal people as well as people on the right side of the continuum.
Why and how did traditional liberalism so suddenly flip from being, big picture – ‘anti-government’, to suddenly embracing corrupt government enterprise, and supporting the intelligence apparatus, federal govt (writ large), institutional oppressive law enforcement and FBI etc.? What happened?
After listening to this conversation quietly, as I am prone to do, my remarks -with citations and examples- silenced the room.
At the conclusion of my remarks, everyone asked me if I had ever written about this, and if not – why not? I did not have an answer, so consider this a promise fulfilled. Perhaps you might find value.
In the 50 years that preceded 2008, traditional leftists, media activists, left-wing community organizing agencies, Democrats, liberals, progressives, or whatever label you want to assign, essentially railed against the U.S. government and all that it represented. However, now, if you were to look at the issues from the 30,000-foot perspective, those same groups currently support the oppressive & weaponized system of government they formerly despised.
In the 50 years that preceded 2008, those same groups had an approach of distrust toward government, and the media apparatus had a very distinct supportive and cynical outlook, favorable to the leftist anti-government perspective. Now, all of that has reversed – seemingly flipped.
In the 50 years that preceded 2008, media pushed a one-way narrative in defense of those who were “targeted” by the institutions and mechanisms of government. As the activists railed against the regime, the media framed narratives to excuse the transparently guilty. Now, that entire dynamic has reversed. Now we see the media pushing a narrative in support of weaponized government targeting, and – here’s the kicker – framing the transparently innocent.
The activists went from accusing government of wrongdoing and defending the transparently guilty – to aligning with government, excusing government wrongdoing, and helping to attack the transparently innocent.
As some continue to say with jaw agape, WTF happened?
The answer “why” is not complicated…. not complicated at all.
In 2008, the ‘activists’ took control of government.
In January of 2009, the leftists, community organizers and activists took control of the systems they had opposed for the preceding 50+ years.
In January of 2009, and inflection point took place; an inflection point that no one realized in forethought, scale or consequence.
Starting in 2009, all of the systems of federal government were now under the control of the people who previously fought against the systems of federal government. Everything since is an outcome of that inflection point; that’s why everything flipped.
All of it, and I do mean every scintilla of the thing; every single granular detail and example you can put in front of me can be traced back to that moment when the activists were no longer outside government railing against the corrupt system they hated.
Starting in January of 2009, the activists took power over the United States government, and every outside institution, including media, necessarily and ideologically followed that inversion.
Starting in 2009, the systems and institutions of the U.S government now came under the control of the radical activists.
In the eight years that followed, the mission of every institution was changed. Government was weaponized on behalf of the leftist activists who now took control of it. Everything thereafter is a consequence of this change.
When I use the word “suddenly”, it is only for understanding the inflections point that came as a consequence. In actuality, the severity of change inside each institution took place over several years. That’s why the intensity of the weaponized and corrupt systems became worse over time.
As each institution was infiltrated to become more aligned with the mindset of the activists, the institutions became more radical in their targeting and weaponization.
The activists went from being outside government to being inside government.
Suddenly, the left-wing supportive media changed mission priority from railing against corrupt government, to defending the corrupt weaponization of govt.
Suddenly, the FBI went from targeting domestic threats, to targeting only the domestic threats defined as against the interests of the left-wing activists.
Suddenly, the outside activists went from being defined as social elements creating turmoil, to social elements now being defended and even promoted.
This is why we see outside activist groups like the Dream Defenders, New Black Panthers, Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street and more recently ANTIFA, as protected and supported by the activists inside government now in control of the systems and institutions.
All of the social, cultural and political dynamics that changed traditional “liberalism” are easily understood once you realize and accept that activists took control of the power centers of the U.S. government.
Everything that followed, including our current state of social and political turmoil, is simply a natural conclusion of that fundamental change.
The radical activists are now in control of the institutions of power. This core shift is what created the dynamic of a very visible two-tiered justice system. Each institution was weaponized and continues to be weaponized against those who are not aligned with the activist ideology.
The Dept of Justice has been weaponized against people who are not in alignment with the radicals.
The federal police, known as the FBI, have been weaponized against We The People.
The Intelligence Community is now under the control of the radical activists. The mission priorities change accordingly.
When Tucker Carlson, Glenn Greenwald, Tulsi Gabbard or any other person posits the question about ‘why’ the ideology of the left and media has shifted so suddenly, there is your answer.
It is not a complicated understanding. Once you accept this fundamental change took place, everything seemingly falls into place….
…. At least that’s what the “ah-ha” audience told me.

That was an inflection point, only because the stage had now been set for the arrival of this coached individual to take the reins and fulfill the destiny prepared for him. The voter fraud mechanisms were in place(electronic voting), the Patriot Act had been implemented, the military had been denigrated, the structures of moral society had been sufficiently eroded, the internet had been invented, the corporations installed with their CEO leadership ready to tow the line, the FDA, EPA powers had been expanded or given the mechanisms by which they could be expanded. All that it needed was the “chosen one” to arrive and roleplay what they were installed to do. Prove me wrong.
This goes back much farther than just that inflection point. Think of all the actions prior. JFK’s takedown. Pearl Harbor fakery. News media lying about everything. Narrative control and seeding. Iraq war lies. 9/11. So many data points prior were stage setting so that when the inflection point was installed, maximum damage could be dealt. You agree?

(Note: as an ex gov’t employee [exited 2008 the Dept. of Energy], I was already seeing this tripe. Since my spouse was fighting a terminal illness, I made the decision to leave to be there for my spouse & because of the tripe being put out that did not further reasonable energy policies for our nation as well as the gross amount of waste. If that was going on in the DOE, it bleeding well was, & is, going on in the rest of our gov’t institutions. Please give me even ONE example, in the last 30 years, where “Conservatives” or “Republicons” have successfully turned back or thwarted a public policy inintiative advanced by “leftists” or “Democrats”.

I’ve always remembered the info that Glenn Beck shared about Cloward Piven and how it is used to distract. It has been used much more these past few years.

For those who crave and wield power, $ is an easily transferable form of POWER, and therefore easier to wield than other forms of power.
With enough $, no problem is unsolvable, no goal impossible to achieve.

Maybe the activists think they’re bringing in the great socialist or communist paradise. But I would bet most of them are being manipulated and are unware they are working for someone else’s agenda.
The layer beyond government that is using them is global, corporate, and directed by or facilitated by banking: the BIS being the most visible and powerful in the West. The WHO also has a key role, as does the Intelligence Community.
Who ultimately is calling the shots? For the purpose of regaining freedom, it actually doesn’t matter. I like how Catherine Austin Fitts just refers to him as “Mr. Global.”
I think the most important thing to understand about “Mr. Global” is not his identity, but his motive. With kudos to Ms. Fitts, who I first heard articulate this, their goal is not power, but simply risk management on a global scale and an individual basis. The effective enslavement of free peoples, even with their consent, is just a means to an end.
They now have the technology to control–not just governments, not just commerce, not just the food supply, not just information, not just populations, not just nations–but individuals. Whether by a digital health passport or central bank digital currency, with the addition of AI, they almost have the network in place to know everything about every person and to control each individual’s access to movement, food, internet, electricity, or money.
What may not yet be installed is a completely “smart” power grid. But control over currency (what you buy and where you can buy it) would be enough to shorten the leash on your internal combustion liberty.
That, and civilian disarmament. I don’t know how they can do it without taking away our ability to use guns to maintain personal sovereignty, but for sure they are working on it. President Trump’s has a tool that enables him to end-run any Senate attempts to block his nominees:
Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998. President Trump used it to put in Richard Grenell as temp head of DNI when the Senate was blocking his official nominee. He’ll use it extensively in his next term to end-run the Senate confirmation issue.
The Act allows him to directly appoint someone for about six months pending Senate confirmation of his official (different person) nominee. If that nominee is rejected or not approved within that time-frame then he can extend it another six months. After that he would need to appoint a new temp head, rinse, repeat.
So he officially nominates an ultra MAGA person and meanwhile appoints another ultra MAGA person to head the agency. Game Set Match.
Mitch is helpless to stop President Trump from putting strong MAGA people in his cabinet.
Toward the end of his first term, President Trump started making use of hte Federal Vacancies Reform Act. While the ideal is to have the Senate quickly confirm President Trump’s nominees and have them serve a full 4 years, the Federal Vacancies Act gives President Trump the power and means to put in who he wants even if Mitch blocks his official nominees.
Granted he will have to rotate in new MAGA people several times over the years, but while Mitch can block his official nominations, Mitch is powerless to prevent President Trump from meanwhile appointing a rotating roster of “temporary” MAGA people to head his agencies.

Again this option does not at all depeend on whether the Senate is in recess.

President Trump had nominated John Ratcliffe to head DNI. The Senate was slow-walking it.
So under the Federal Vacancies Act President Trump put in Ric Genell as temporary head of DNI. No Senate approval needed. No Senate recess needed.
NOTE: Grenell was NOT approved by the Senate. There was no Senate recess. Grenell was appointed as temporary head of DNI via the Federal Vacancies Act.

One is what you said a previously Senate confirmed person. Another is the number 2 person in the agency, who can by default move into the temporary acting head position.
The third is any employee of GS-15 grade or higher within the agency. This last opens up a conduit to bring MAGA thru into acting head positions. Here’s how:
Do you remember President Trump’s executive order where he re-categorized a large number of executive branch position into policy-oriented posiitions? That change gave him the abiltiy to easily fire without the usual difficulties with removing federal employees.
Look at the #3 option for temp acting head: He can fire RINOs and DEMs in higher level policy polisitions and hire MAGA. This would be his MAGA pool within each agency from which to use the Federal Vacancy Act to bypass the Senate.
I throw this out as just one example of guerilla politics that President Trump already began to embrace toward the end of his first term.

You’re at least partially right, though I would say that rather than flipping as a direst result of the activists taking over, the poles re-aligned as if a magnet had moved. Government *alignment* began to flip. That didn’t, however, directly result in action in the government. THAT happened with the rise of Trump. Once Trump came on the scene and demonstrated he would be the GOP nominee, then the newly aligned government forces went into action. THAT was the real inflection point. It is not a stretch to say that Obama opened the doors of government and waved the radicals in. This emboldened or conveyed power to any radical opinion or behavior that wanted to be seen or heard. It is a position of power to be able to push your thing without any backlash. “Power to the people” by rewarding perversion with high pay no work jobs.
The communist methods of Mao are at work here. Unleash the radicals for your cause and direct them to demean any opposition while advancing any of them that are able to spray the verbal graffiti. Total power is taken and the people don’t realize what has happened. RINO’s fell for this and still don’t see how big the forest really is.
I don’t think there has been a flip in attitudes. It’s always been there, the majority simply did not allow the nonsense. It will eventually change because there are only a certain number of jobs for all the degrees. Massive unemployment caused by conservative scrutiny of spending will take it’s toll someday. When students realize plumbers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics, etc. are holding their jobs and making more money without degrees, they may actually ask if college tuition is worth the investment.
People need to stop putting up with all the little crap that leads to the major stuff. Challenge those who act stupid, question those who are ignorant, and keep a pocket full of sand handy.

From studying how markets work and working to quantify what I can, I will say that a long trend needs corrections. What might a correction (against the trend) look like? (I’m talking about a “controlled” correction.)
Sundance has done an excellent job of showing us who Ron DeSantis is. Early on, he was given the “seal of approval” from at least one liberal media company. He was an “acceptable” candidate. So, the “professional” political handlers convinced him to allow them to manage his campaign – and fund it. They assured him that Donald Trump would NOT be a factor.
Now, think of the push he has had – and, of course, how badly he has stumbled. Wouldn’t a ticket of DeSantis/Scott be the perfect Deep State “correction” that is so desperately needed? The (always) disposable Biden is currently being thrown under the bus. No Democrat candidate is appearing to take his place, is there?
The one obstacle, of course, is the popularity of Donald Trump. Everyone without severe TDS now sees him as the only hope. I’m afraid that he cannot be allowed to win another election. Again, this is a “do or die” for the destroyers of this country.

Baal, Ishtar & Molech have returned with a vengeance. America is now reaping their spoils. America needs a movement back towards God, who can save this nation from its current path. Tomorrow is Pentecost Sunday. America needs His Holy Spirit now, more than ever. Or is ready & willing to be available. Will we trust Him enough to call on Him?

What seems unexplained is SCOTUS. Without question, they appear to be a dominantly conservative panel, with at least a few Constitutionalists. Yet, they whiffed on everything related to human and Constitutional rights… jab shot mandates, shutdowns, election fraud. Whiff city.
Other than blackmail or Manchurian Candidate-level trickery, how does “liberals took over government” work for that?

I think Sundance may have touched on a small part of what happened. Doesn’t explain the off shoring of our jobs and Wall Streets goal. Transformation of America isn’t just part of the bureaucrats. We’re being steered towards profits for corporations and giving the peasants just enough money to buy their goods and pay taxes for their way of life. What ever we make to compensate our hard work, they want it ALL back.
sundance writes an insightful article you would never see in the MSM and other sites and rather than point out the compelling truth of what he wrote some of the unsatisfied readers nitpick it. The proof of his contentions is obvious every day. Does his article mention every causative factor in detail? Of course not. He never claimed it did. But he did increase our awareness.
Only the most stalwart and thick skinned of people can endure these critical times and continue to fight.
When I mentioned the incredible success of the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Rays and the surprising lack of opportunistic Floridian politicians trying to take advantage of their success, a suggestion was made that only the political battles are important now and most of the “righteous” focus only on that and not on silly things. A reasonable point given what is at stake.
But, I have no doubt that these endless and profitable political battles will consume entire lifetimes for some time to come. There is too much money for the “elite” to make from dividing and controlling the masses.
The USA is deeply fractured and bringing the disparate sides together again is not likely in the near future. President Trump is a very special man that can do great things for the country but his opponents will never cease fighting against him and deepening and widening the societal fractures. But their Pravda’s will always blame him.
So the Republicans do nothing about these activists turning everything upside down because there is money to be made from it? Do I have that right? …or did the activists infiltrate the GOP as well?
