Earlier GM cut 5,000 salaried workers and several hundred hourly jobs. Ford previously announced it would cut a total of 3,000 salaried and contract jobs, mostly in North America and India. Now, today, Chrysler parent company Stellantis announces 3,500 auto sector job cuts.
Stellantis owns the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge and Fiat brands. Apparently, there is something in the U.S. economy that’s happening despite the great pretending….
Biden in Michigan, speaking to auto-workers, 2020
WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) – Chrysler-parent Stellantis NV (STLAM.MI) wants to cut approximately 3,500 hourly U.S. jobs and is offering voluntary exit packages, according to a United Auto Workers union letter made public Tuesday.
The automaker is looking to reduce its hourly workforce offering incentive packages that include $50,000 payments for workers hired before 2007, UAW Local 1264 said in a letter dated Monday posted on its Facebook page.
Stellantis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson declined to comment. A person briefed on the matter said the figure might be lower than the figure cited in the UAW letter.
In late February, Stellantis indefinitely halted operations at an assembly plant in Illinois, citing rising costs of electric vehicle production.
The action impacted about 1,350 workers at the Belvidere, Illinois, plant that built the Jeep Cherokee SUV and resulted in indefinite layoffs. The automaker has warned it may not resume operations as it considers other options. (read more)
The Investment Recovery Act (IRA), aka “the green new deal” multitrillion spending bill, was supposed to enhance autoworkers. Funny how the exact opposite happens.
The incentive packages outlined in the UAW Local 1264 letter included the following details:
- Incentive Package for Retirement: $50,000 for seniority members hired prior to the 2007 agreement.
- Voluntary Termination of Employment Program: guaranteed lumpsum benefit payment and is applicable to employees with at least 1 year seniority.
.
Overall govt spending and regulatory controls drove inflation for these past two years. The ‘demand side’ was blamed, despite the lack of demand. I will be proven right when history is concluded with this. Interest rates were raised by central banks in an effort to support the policies that are driving ‘supply side’ inflation, not demand side.
Energy policy was/is crushing the consumer by driving up the cost of all goods and services. To support the overall goal of changing global energy resource and development (a false and controlled global operation), central banks raised interest rates. Various western economies, including our own, have been pushed deeper into a state of contraction by central banks crushing consumer demand, and eliminating investment via increased borrowing costs.
In short, the goal was/is to lower energy consumption by shrinking the economic activity. This, according to the BBB plan, was needed at the same time as energy development was reduced.
These economic outcomes are not organic, they are all being controlled by collective western government agreement.
This is sickening!
NO, this is great, as reality will kick in and more people will vote against domKKKraps, so the steal will need to be bigger and more obvious.
It doesn’t matter who votes. If it did they wouldn’t bother letting us…
So true
“A man is no less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years.”
~Lysander Spooner~
Great quote. Always spot on Betsy.
They are simply giving the plebs the illusion of choice.
The same people who think they can find news on a tv? Who ‘voted’ for Obama and Brandon?
You know. The ones still wearing paper masks because they were told to three years ago?
I pray constantly for my country, as does everyone here. I hope they’re strong enough.
long past that my friend. it’s all about the envelopes now. what’s inside is completely irrelevent.
Voting doesn’t matter. Who counts the vote does matter
“The people who cast the votes decide nothing; the people who count the votes decide everything”
attributed to Joseph Stalin
Historically Union workers vote Democrat without questioning any issues. Serves them right, no sympathy here. Bet they were really happy when Very Stable Genius Donald John Trump/45 was president even though they didn’t vote for him them either.
This union employee voted for him and I know many others that did as well.
Not all of them according to this artcle.
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/22/donald-trump-union-support-snub-joe-biden-418329
Well…that’s from Politico right before the 2020 election. Politico is known to be about as fact-based as the Washington comPost and New York Slimes, especially when it comes to pre-election propaganda..
I’m a Teamster and certainly didn’t vote for this shit, or Biden. My 9 coworkers didn’t either, so they say.
Bingo. Bingo. Bingo.
Union workers are so stupid for voting democrat.
As jbird points out, the blanket assurance that “all union WORKERS vote “Democrat” is yet ANOTHER false narrative that, despite it being obviously not accurate, has been repeated SO often that most people blithely not only accept it as valid, but REPEAT the lie, AMPLIFYING it.
WE really need to STOP doing that!
Reagan took the “blue collar” vote, very much including MOST “rank and file” for MOST unions.
In 2016 “run up” I recall a “Union leader” being interviewed, after meeting with the Hillary campaign.
He said something like : “we assured Hillarys people that while Union leadership was “all in fir Hillary, WE COULD NOT assure them of our memberships vote.”
This WAS a “big deal” at the time, and so minimised by MSM.
Not even all GOVERNMENT workers are Democrats, let alone all Union “rank and file”.
Conmunists infiltrate and move to the top, controlling positions, but often do not achieve absolute control, but only the APPEARANCE of control.
And, justvlike every single group the Democrat party has welcomed into their big tent, union WORKERS have been systematically SCREWED by the Dem party.
And, just likexall of the other groups, they are now red-pilling, and realising this, and tired of the screwing.
Remember when Republicans were really trying to crush unions some years ago,and were recalled?
Union is a double edged sword, it can be good and bad at times.
They voted for FJB, Whitmer….ad nauseam.
Many of the “they” you’re referring to did not vote for Whitmer she was guaranteed another term after going along with the Nazi Covid rules and helping steal Michigan from President Trump by voter fraud malfeasance.
If not for cheating I do not believe Whitmer came close to winning in 2022.
There was a huge push for mail in ballots once again which only started in the 2016 election.
Residents without requesting them are mailed ballots and encouraged to vote that way.
Many get multiple ballots mailed to them.
Michigan is more MAGA than it was when President Trump beat HIllary.
Union members do not blindly listen to union leaders regarding who to vote for.
President Trump has a lot of support amongst the Union members in many industries in Michigan including the auto.
President Trump empathized and in many instances created and saved jobs as promised.
Ver sad. Most members didn’t want this. Union bosses pushed it
Let’s go Brandon!
Yes. They were making those evil gas using cars
Now they can learn to code 😉
Nope, all the Communist Obama/Biden anti coal “green” agenda policy unemployed coal miners took those jobs. 🙄…. Remember they were “shovel ready”. 🤣
Joe Biden said the coal miners can now learn to code.
And while they learn to code will they be eating cake?
I bet one of those blue collar gentlemen would love to have another face to face with JoeBama right about now.
You’re a lying dog faced pony soldier man! You wanna do some push-ups
There are so many gaffes to remember and so little time…that one I remember…
Corn Pop was a very bad dude.
And he ran with some bad boys
You don’t need an AR-14!
I hope the ones fired are the ones that voted Biden – a lot of union did despite what Trump did for US manufacturing.
Well, to be fair, the Bad Orange Man wrote mean tweets and gave his enemies mean nicknames.///
I’ve never been Union but I worked around and with rank and file union tradesmen for many years. These guys are solid Trump supporters. It’s their union bosses who are compromised. I think you need to get more info before you make those comments.
I was in a union for a week.
I was in one for 3 months, TCU (Transportation Clerks Union) way back in ’69. $28.00 per day (8 hrs).
I hid from the union steward at the Kroger warehouse summer of 1970
🤣
I’m a union guy , teamsters.
The rank and file push the democratic vote for sure .
But only idiots not paying attention voted for Biden .
And there was plenty of them where I work.
Ignorance is bliss , these people are clueless.
But the dose of reality is coming around .
I talk about politics as much as I can , very few people are well informed.
Stating that people unionized all voted for Dems is silly statement.
Reminds me of an article I recently read on A T, suggesting libertarians who voted for Biden are the reason Biden got in ,lol.
A true and informed libertarian would never vote for those Democrat policies.
Ron Paul is libertarian, and he woke me up 2 decades ago.
me too.
👍
There is absolutely no evidence that any group voted, in lockstep, for biden.
There is more than ample proof that he was unlawfully installed.
How about ‘ we ‘ drop the tired, incorrect narrative ?
I get that some are desperate for a little normalcy bias, but all you’re doing is keeping everyone divided.
Their evil games will end when enough people wake up and get desperate enough to fight back.
They are destroying the economy and country because they know when push comes to shove, people are apathetic and weak.
A lot of people are. Until the pain hits them right in the face. Or their pocket book. Then it becomes very real. And just something on a lying network
We’re not going to be able to “vote” ourselves out of this. The voter fraud is too massive and well honed. The”system’ is rigged…..elections, the media and government power positions. We either rise up and fight back now or the whole country is lost
Ditto…Been saying this for months…wait…now years….
I disagree, and have posted numerous comments on why.
So, your comment advocates INACTION, with regard to voting, and yet your advocacy for ACTION is vague.
“,..rise up and fight back,..” HOW, EXACTLY?
WHAT action are you specifically advocating to treepers, WHAT do YOU say we should DO, beyond “not voting, because the voter fraud is too massive and well honed.”
NONE of you who post comments, dismissing voting (and thereby discouraging others from voting, at least by implication) have ANY suggested alternative actions.
WHATS YOUR PLAN?
Sit at home, stockpiling ammo and oiling our guns?
Joining a m.i.l.i.t.i.a. where the leaders are guaranteed to BE CI’, sleeping with C.I.’s or both?
Puhleeeese.
C’mon, whats your PLAN, lets HEAR it evaluate it, subject it to crowdsource
critical thinking.
I am MAGA. SHOW me a plan, to MAGA, and I am OPEN to adopting it.
Otherwise, why are you posting comments here, DISCOURAGING people from ACTION, (Voting) and pissing and moaning about how “the sheeple” need to “rise up” and (apperently) water trees, without ANY “action plan”.
Net result, encouraging inaction, and discouraging action. Yeah, cause THAT will MAGA!
My favorite Sun Tuz quote
Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.
Sooo I’ma not saying whats I’ma gonna do😏
It seems like there are MANY of us that would like to take more action than waiting.. trying to participate in local politics when things seem more urgent. But I’ve not seen any realist suggestions. And so we talk, donate, and PRAY.
Once again Dutchman, when I saw your name, I immediately stopped scrolling and read your comment.
As usual, your comment is spectacular.
Thanks again.
“Cornpop was a bad dude…”
Moving to Mexico where AMLO has kept his energy flowing?
I don’t see many smiles in the picture. Is this just a coincidence and they love Biden? I don’t know. I live further away from any auto worker than you can imagine.
FIAT! Thats part of the problem. I wouldn’t buy a Jeep Chrysler Dodge Fiat product if you gave me the money to do it. In my travels over the last 6 months I noticed dealer lots of all major brands with sparse product on the lot. Not the Stallout lots. Packed with vehicles cause nobodies buying that self propelled junk. Thats the way I see it.
To clarify…Stellantis now owns Chrysler & Fiat…but I get your point.
“Climate change” nee “Global Warming” is the fraudulent Trojan Horse intended to impose a new-feudal existence upon all of mankind.
They aren’t joking when they crow that by 2030 “you will own nothing.” They don’t say “some” will own nothing, they mean all of us who aren’t invited to the annual WEF Davos confab. Who are intended to own everything.
There truly is “something in the air”
One can sense it..
Intuitively many here at CTH can feel it.
Many of those not blessed with knowledge of, or interest in this informative site are getting uncomfortable.
I listen to them in grocery stores, gas stations, on our regular ferry trips to Vancouver Island British Columbia and our local aquatic centre.
Goodness me I am ever grateful for President Trumps sacrifices.
I will endeavour to do my small part.
Cheers!
The EV collapse is coming. Tesla is discounting its cars. Tesla would not have to do that if there was a decent sized market for EVs. There are huge EV plants and Battery plants being built in Spring Hill and Memphis TN. Those plants will sink GM and Ford. The new Home Loan plan, that allows people with good credit to contribute to people with bad credit buying homes they cannot afford, will set the stage for another 2008. Throw in the EV debacle. It is more than something in the air. A monster storm cloud of destruction comes our way. We are doomed make no mistake about it.
Hard to buy an EV if you spend all your money on groceries.
👍👍
Cheers!
Maybe not doomed though..
Many regular leaders here have been prepping..lowering or eliminating debt, etc.
I talked to a recently retired pilot a couple of days back.
He won’t get vaxxed, has converted a sea can ( a ships cargo container)
He bought a piece of dirt 20 mins from town.
He has all he needs, he says travel will become so onerous few will bother.
We will see..
Cheers!
I THINK their “Insurance plan” or final push for the great reset is to crash “the World Economy” in order to force people to accept the CBDC, in the belief that THAT will “finally” give them the ultimate power they need.
They won’t NEED to mess around with ELECTIONS, any more.
2A (they think) is neutralised, because they don’t HAVE to go door to door, with swat raids, they just turn off your ability to engage in commerce.
Their problem, self created is it won’t BE “the World economy” cause of BRICS+, with gold and nat resource backed currencies.
And, I think they will encounter far more resistance to CBDC than they anticipate.
Just one example, the illicit get high drug business is 100’s of billions of $, worldwide.
Not that I care, but how, exactly does the simple transaction of a drug user buying their drugs from their dealer, take place once they eliminate currencies, to go to CBDC.
Now, multiply that transaction by millions of such transactions.
And, thats just one example.
Its their PLAN, but I don’t see it working.
They WILL (probably) succeed in tearing it all down, but it will be US, that build it back, as thats what WE do and THEY don’t.
BRICS will be the huckleberry the globalists can’t get past. It seems to me that there is a reckless desperation to launder money to keep things afloat. Trillions to the Ukraine, You see it in the obvious, clumsy way they do it now. Not even trying to hide it anymore.
I don’t know what that means for the average person here in the US though. Somehow I don’t think the Russians and Chinese will step in to save us.
“We are doomed make no mistake about it.”
We are all gonna die so I guess you could say some are doomed – I’m not because I accepted Jesus as my savior and His gift to me is eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven.
If things do go as sideways as they may, I’m fully prepared to let God sort some oppressors out.
In the meantime I’m getting my tomato plants together and hustling a used car or boat once in a while for a little wam.
Used cars are hard to find but I look for Toyotas first, especially 2nd generation Avalons, particularly 2011/12 models. Lund and Alumnacraft boats are ez to sell too.
Cheers Deke!
Dekester.
Cheers right back, always upbeat, and on target.
There IS indeed something in the air, and we all feel it.
Yes, even those who are not “treepers” know its coming, and 2024 will be the defining moment, even though we don’t know what that means, or how it will all play out.
THEY are losing, WE are winning, and I feel like;
“Suppose WE won a war, and nobody noticed?”
Dutch
We gives a damn who notices as long as WE THE PEOPLE WIN.
Come on, man!
👍
Negativity does nothing for the spirit and destroys the soul.
Cheers!
Was talking to a guy at work today. First time we’ve talked in person in 3 years, since they sent us all home because of Covid. He said we’re headed for a civil war, has become a prepper, and is now a Believer. More people are waking up to reality every day.
👍👍
Yep, without exaggeration I talk with numerous individuals weekly ( I am sociable but anti social )
Many are confused and “off balance” when I gently and with a smile state a few “ truths” etc.
A strange look comes over a fair number.
TUCKER telling everyone to pray along with President Trump stating we are facing possible nuclear war and economic collapse are vey credible indications that the immediate future may be quite bleak.
Tucker and President Trump have access to a lot more inside information and are not sounding the alarm regarding things that will occur years from now.
Besides them there are multiple almost daily incidents that reinforce we are literally in the middle of the plan implementation. 😔
“Okay, I get it … Stellantis AV!” A “multinational corporation,™” magically accountable to no one. The “intellectual property owner” of just so many “brands.” Yeah. “How f&ckin’ smart you are!”
“Suddenly, Ukraine” teaches you about the actual realities of “War.”
“Suddenly, China” decides to order all of its container ships to return home, as it rescinds all of its commercial contracts. Your store shelves are suddenly empty, and you have no way to refill them.
“Suddenly, the Swamp” magically achieves its goal of imprisoning a former President.
… but, “Then What?!”
And then … Sun Tzu smiles.
The American car manufacturing business is a dying entity. Even with EVs. The Asian market manufacturers are the new kingmakers. Not Detroit. In 5 years our cars will be mostly designed, componented, and assembled in two Asian markets – Korea and China.
Not a good place to be if you need to switch to wartime production for military vehicles. By design.
There is some D RAT in Congress proposing that all military vehicles be electric. Can you imagine all of those vehicle’s batteries running down in the middle of nowhere with no place to recharge them. How the hell do these morons get elected?
not if the fall of the petro-dollar skyrockets inflation. then there won’t be any imports
The Davos and green crowd must be celebrating. A double win. Hurt/destroy the middle class while more marginalization of the traditional auto industry.
Shovel ready jobs…..?
to
No jobs, no shovels necessary.
America needs to throw the shovel out of the hole we’re digging ourselves into …..
…..and the car wasn’t just driven into the ditch by Joey…..Antifa struck a match to it
Is it about time for some “mostly peaceful protests”?
I have some very necesary uses for that shovel,…thank you very much.
I will KEEP it, and keep it close.
sss
Lol. Oh man…
The canteen keeps getting smaller and the horse eats less oats for the trip across the dessert.
By cutting the work force, you effectively reduce the supply of goods to be sold. The demand is still there, but will not be met. When the demand is not being met, the obvious choice is to look at what is available to meet your demand. And that will be the ”new” product that takes its place. And a lot of people will not see the ”back room” pressure or coercion” that is unfolding. No ”natural” meat available, step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and buy our ”lab-made” meat.
🤢🤮 not this girl!
A 3.27.20 DOD article entitled, “During WWII, Industries Transitioned From Peacetime To Wartime Production”.
FTA: Prior to World War II, factories in the United States were turning out automobiles, large and small appliances, and childrens’ toys.
In January 1942 — a mere month after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii — President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered the establishment of the War Production Board.
Its purpose was to convert the factories of peacetime industries into manufacturing plants for weapons and military equipment for the fight. The second goal was to conserve materials like metal, which soldiers, sailors and Marines would need for the fight in such things as guns, ordnance, tanks, ships, aircraft, tactical vehicles and so on.
…..To illustrate the magnitude of the transition to wartime production, there were about 3 million automobiles manufactured in the U.S. in 1941. During the entire war, only 139 additional cars rolled off the assembly lines.
Instead, automakers built guns, trucks, tanks and aircraft engines.
……
Why would DOD post this article 3 yrs ago?
When people tell you….believe them.
https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/story/Article/2128446/during-wwii-industries-transitioned-from-peacetime-to-wartime-production/
Is this the plan under which President Trump had the vaccine that isn’t a vaccine produced? Could be why it was reposted.
Certificates were issued, specifically for growing HEMP, because ROPE was a vital commodity for the war effort.
There are still areas where you can find massive hedges of hemp plants, in the midwest, the remains of these operations.
And yes and no, as to is hemp marajiuana; female only plants=mj. Mixed female and male= hemp.
my grandpa grew war hemp in Pulaski Co Kentucky
I think WWIII will be coming and these workers and the associated plant will be put to work making munitions.
Might be asking the obvious, but with what resources?
Mines and smelters cannot get setup and start producing overnight. Nor can mothballed factories be retooled without significant expense.
And, none of them can be productive without training a new workforce to operate them.
Logistics, love it or hate it. Everything from primary resource extraction to intermediate processing to the end product relies on infrastructure that had been allowed to waste away in the USA.
Could it be done in, say, 6 months, or less, is the start date of war was approximately pre-planned?
You’d still have to rebuild the entirety of the supply chain to even manufacture munitions in those quantities required.
See all the issues with depleting all the ordnance stockpiles in Ukraine that will take years to replenish at current rates of production.
Increasing many-fold that industrial capacity at every step takes time, time that is not on our side. It all has to be ramped up. All of which requires more iron, copper, coal, etc. How many new mines were approved or old ones reopened in the last few decades for those necessary minerals?
Increased petroleum extraction? Similar issue.
Possible, if the will was there. At a prodigiously expensive price certainly.
Jay Powell wet his pants with glee when the stock market dropped 1,000 points … did he soil himself again with elated self-satisfaction? As far as I’m concerned … he can just go piss off.
The TRUTH cannot be told. It has to be LEARNED. Americans are getting ready to learn just how evil our nation has been. Starting endless wars. Needless killing of innocents. Trying to control other nations with our wealth. Funding bio labs/gain of function around the world. Running arms and drugs. Experimenting with AIDS and “vaccines” in under developed nations and stealing their wealth. Our government does not go into other countries to help them obtain “democracy”. Our government invades to take advantage of other nations for the benefit of our government officials and their friends/family. I LOVE my country. I hate my government.
When you’re building back better, you have to pretend to not know things.
Do people get it, YET?
Not yet. But they will get it sooner or later with these WEF, “Great Reset”, Green Maoist Commie dreamers……..up the wazoo.
No.
YES, they do. Red-pilling is a PROCESS, it takes TIME.
It is the process of gradually ovrrcoming DENIAL, as reality intrudes to erode the denial.
Read up on “the 5 stages of grief”; what ALL who “red-pill” are doing, is going thru the GRIEVING process, grieving thecloss of the World as they thought it was, and gradually, step by painful step, coming to acceptance of the World as it actually is.
And yes, they ARE getting it.
way less than half
Good! The more people who are hurt by the economic policies of the Biden administration, the more Biden voters will reconsider voting for the senile pretender.
Michigan will have banked several hundred thousand ballots during “election season” before the first debate. On election night you’ll be cheering. By morning you’ll be gut punched. The donkeys don’t care how many auto workers are laid off. But never fear Ronna McDaniel has got botox and a new fact check site to help us.
Your comment got me to thinking how it would be so neat if those hundred of thousands of fake ballots never made It to their final destination.
They would only need to be hijacked from the big cities. Say Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and maybe a few others. Wouldn’t that be ashame? Kinda hard to report them stolen. LOL
Green new deal that only benefits China.
Naturally, the results are what were paid for.
Actually, all this is a slow motion genocide by megalomaniacal billionaires and their toady government apparatchiks.
As someone astutely commented the other day, this is part of a long-term plan to pare down the world population to a several hundred million slaves / serfs, and few hundred thousand oligarch barons and baronesses.
Sounds like “back to the future.” We had a revolution in communication technology, and those who became rich from exploiting it have no more creativity and imagination than to use it to resurrect ancient kings/lords/peasants hierarchies.
No matter what marvelous things we manage to invent, we’re still stuck with the essential limitations of human drives and emotions, and always at risk from those lowest common denominator psychopaths who persist inevitably in our genetic makeup.
Somehow I don’t think they figured out all the logistical details for maintaining a high tech civilization.
Losing that many people and all of the accumulated specialized bits of knowledge will set back some things by centuries.
No surprise there. They’ve opted to rule over ashes
“They’ve opted to rule over ashes.” This is poetic.
Be prepared for more of this. We’re not getting out of this wi our vote. Did we win in 2020 or2022? Keep telling yourself we can right this doing the same thing over again. Expect the same results.
Instead of posting a comment advocating INACTION (don’t vote) PLEASE, tell me what YOUR action plan is.
We know have close relatives in the auto business.
Their positions span several domestic and import brands.
Wait lists for certain new vehicles is 18 to 24 months.
Prices for quality used is insanely high, new are often selling above MSRP.
Dealer principles are by and large doing pretty good.
The consumer..☹️
Craigslist locally has 15 year old Toyotas with over 210 K ( miles)
Asking approximately 4000.00 U.S.
That’s nuts..
I drive a 17 year old Toyota with 250K. No way I sell it for $4000.
Smart!
Amazing how they hold their value, any old 4×4 truck or Suzuki or Toyota mid 90’s 4×4 are “ Gold”
Our 1997 Suzuki Sidekick sport is an incredible vehicle.
A new one 25 years ago were about 20K today a decent one is worth 6 to 8.
I wonder what a 80,000K new Tesla will be worth in 25 years.😉
It would probably struggle in the woods, or on a fishing or hunting trip.😂
Deke,
Back around 2000, sold a ‘93 Honda Accord coupe (2dr) to a mechanic with 238k miles for $3k.
The Japanese cars hold their value
👍
At least once a month some knuckle head knock on my door asking if I would sell my 02 Camry.
In my outstanding cranky old guy voice, reply do you see a for sell sign on it?
They answer no…
There’s your answer. 😛
My specialty is 2011/12 Toyota Avalons. That 3.5L v6 is bulletproof w/6 seconds 0-60 and 27hwy mpg on reg gas. Back seat is big enough to camp in. Old farts bought them new and generally took care of them. If clean and runs right I’m always interested in Avalons and they are often overlooked in this suv/pickup world.
I have a 2012 Honda Accord that was built in Ohio. I’ve had it for 8 years and it has less than 110K miles on it. Amazing what working from home and then retiring does for auto usage. I put about 5K on it each year but that might increase a bit if I do any traveling (because I for sure am not flying off I can drive there.) I plan to own this car for a long time. I would buy a backup car to make sure I always have a gas powered vehicle available but the prices are way too much for me.
Brilliant!
When offers to buy our 97 Suzuki 4×4 or 95 GMC 2500 4×4 come my way..my reply is thank you but I plan to get buried in one of them.
The remaining one the grandkids can squabble over. 😉
I’ve got an 08 Honda Ridgeline that I bought new, has less than 70k miles and has been nearly perfect. That’s the one they’ll bury me in.
I bought it in Aug of 2008 when gas first touched $4 gallon. I bought top of line RTL w/nav for 26k otd. If I were to sell it, I’d start at $20k and that would probably scare off potential buyers.
Honda Elements have developed a cult following, as have Del Sols. Lexus SC430s are on fire too. A couple years ago they were plentiful under 15k – no more. Too many motors in the trunk for me.
My 2005 Honda was worth $3k in 2018, today worth $7k per Kelley Blue Book.
Trudeau has allowed China to ship Tesla cars in !!!
Made in China!!!!
Just announced the other day.
Yep, Teslas are common place here in Greater Vancouver B.C.
Many of the original buyers
say they never purchase another..who knows?
I know. Used to be Prius, but I rarely see those in the suburbs.
In downtown Vancouver they still have lots of Evo rentals floating around. But hardly any in the suburbs. Mostly terrible drivers. Not to mention aggressive bike riders in their big bike lanes who glare at cars like they are products of the Devil.
Luckily I rarely go downtown anymore.
Nice, I worked downtown for over thirty years..
We are about 45 mins away, and may never have to return ( fingers crossed)
Down where we are Teslas are common place..the ten or more recharging bays at a local mall are always full, and often with a line up.
Cheers!
I had an ’05 Prius for 13 years. Never had to find a charging station…… averaged 48 mpg all kinds of driving. Brother-in-law now driving the same car with over 200K miles and still getting 50+ mpg. (he drives more gently than I did). He doesn’t have to find charging stations either.
And although Prius used a large battery, the batteries never spontaneously burst into flames.
EVERY Tesla is made with cobalt mined at slave wages in the Congo. Think that every time I see one.
They would use excavators and bulldozers but they use diesel. This way they save the planet.
Put aside the fact that braindead greedy union workers voted for this mess.
They at Chrysler are telling me that monies they bring in in the event I buy one of their cars will be used to placate a dumbell working there and in essence use some of my money to eliminate an American job forever.
This is what all these so-called American brand are doing.
To hell with that .
Why should anyone support these globalist creeps with my business.
Why should I support them.
From now on I will buy whatever car I want no matter who makes it.
I wonder if they miss President Trump yet.. Don;t remember
this going on when he was President.? Did the unions vote for him?
Welcome to the Bribem economy.
Where are the unions who use to shut down the “Big 3” completely when they laid off in mass ?
It’s mid 2007, for those keeping track. After housing price declines In 2006 there was a brief respite in early 2007 after it was clear rate cuts would end. Just what we are seeing today. That lasted 6 months. During that time unemployment began rising. This drove the FED to begin cutting rates in late 2007. In 2007 the foreclosure rate was 1.4%. In 2008 2.0%. In 2009 4.6%. The rise in foreclosures tracked right along with the increase in unemployment and the decline in home prices.
Foreclosures and unemployment peaked in 2009, the latter over 10%.
A big reason for the current low inventory is the moratorium on foreclosures. Over the past 3 years more than 1 million homes qualified for foreclosure forebearance. Over the next year all of that is going to wash through. Along with the end of student loan foregiveness for 44 million borrowers.
It is going to be epic.
Good analysis. In 2006 Ben Bernanke ramped up interest rates that Greenspan had kept artificially low. The low rates, easy money policies and lowered lending standards imposed by Clinton led to a housing bubble. Bernanke burst that bubble and started backpedaling fast in 2007/8. It was too late and that crash hit hard in 2008/9.
Yep, the Fed has been jacking up rates in an exactly analogous manner, bursting a bubble caused by artificially low interest rates. We are in for a rough ride.
I highly recommend reading the articles ( left side column as on the right side it is just agregated news ) here as it will give you some insight as to ” some ” of what happens within the USPS locations.
Postal Employee Network.com
I do some 3rd party work within a number of these locations and it is mind numbing the lack of concern for all types of ” business ” conducted therein by the “workers and managers”.
I do know that they “date stamp” the ballot envelopes that people bring inside the USPS location, but what exactly happens after is questionable.
Buddy of mine works in the beauty industry. He said orders over the last 3 months are the worst he has ever seen. This crash will hit after the summer, probably October.
Ask him if there are any non-woke beauty product companies left. I can’t use Ulta, Maybelline, L’Oreal and others.
They make crappy cars. I know. I own one.
I work at UPS, I’ve had my hours changed , and there’s been plenty of layoffs . From part time workers , to drivers of trailers and package cars .
Things ain’t looking good.
Not surprising given this Steve Cortes chart (shared on War Room) of Packaging Corp.’s actual box shipments:

That’s not good at all.
Joe Kernan used tonnage of cardboard manufacturing as a metric of economic performance.
I hope you keep enough hours to support yourself and whoever depends on you.
I saw that way back! They are reducing SUPPLY SIDE ON PURPOSE!
Who did the union support in 2020? The members may not have voted for Presidunce but the union officially endorsed him and that’s where their money went. Sorry you’re losing your jobs.
Speaking of inflation, I priced out a stock up order from Chewy for my 3 cats, one of which is on a prescription diet dry food that the other 2 eat as well. It was $90 or $91 at the beginning of January. It’s now $102 for the same 17.9 pound bag which will last between 9 and 10 weeks. Everything in the order has gone up and not by a small percentage. Petflow is charging less for a few items so I’ll be splitting the order between the two companies but yikes! I’m happy I have a stocked pantry and freezer so I can eat next month as well.
And expensive cats taste like chicken…
Nah. I need my cats; they keep me humble and sane. Can’t wait to see the prices in September or October when it will be time to order again.
I’ll tell you what it is:
The ECONOMY CRASHED A LONG TIME AGO, but has been artificially supported for a 1 1/2-3 years. It was unsustainable and it has caught up.
GET READY!
Their union master supported pedo peter. Better start to unelect these SOBs.
The real truth about the the economy won’t be reported by the MSM until after the 2024 election. That’s what they do.
Where are the Chrysler plants that are affected? Are the automakers in right to work states hiring?
All the dead union workers are still on the voter rolls. Still voting for a democrat.
UAW supported Biden’s election.
Grifter union supporting the Democrat crime gang. It’s all one big back scratching gang until the actual workers are reduced to dependent serfs.
Fun fact: “soviet” in English is “local”, as in “UAW local 1264”.
Why don’t they just cut a few senior VPs? It equals out to about the same money, and real working people get to keep their jobs.
Just wait until no one buys the crappy electric cars that are being forced onto automakers by the US government.
