Dominion voting systems had sued Fox News for $1.6 billion, claiming defamation about statements surrounding the 2020 election outcome and Dominion voting systems. Today Dominion and Fox settled the lawsuit for $787 million.
The lawsuit itself is odd in that both the plaintiff and the defendant carried the same political motivation within it. As an outcome of ideology, Fox News wanted to cement the 2020 election as clear Biden victory, the same position as Dominion. The settlement provides that narrative to U.S. MSM corporate news. The same corporate news who pushed the fraudulent Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy theory, without accountability.

It was not immediately clear where this admission took place, beyond Fox’s statement that “We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false” — or whether Fox News had agreed to a more formal acknowledgement in a public way. “We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues,” the statement said.
However, Dominion attorney Stephen Shackelford warned that the settlement with Fox is not the end of the company’s legal efforts to save its reputation.
“We’re not done yet. We have some other people who have some accountability coming toward them,” Shackelford said.

For everyone feeling like Dominion will determine the 2024 election, here’s something to consider. I live in Ohio, and did some phoning, and got connected with the Director of Constituent Affairs right after the Nov. 2022 midterms, who answered my questions about our voting. Our elections have been pretty solid since they cleaned up the voter rolls about 2 election cycles ago, but I had some lingering questions.
This person was a sharp conservative, and when I asked whether Ohio used Dominion machines, he admitted that a few counties do, but that the state determines and approves the qualifications for a machine to be purchased and used by the county. He said that none of them can have internet access or capabilities, among other things — so if they buy a Dominion machine, it can’t be one that can be hijacked.
I asked him who determines what machines are bought or used, and he said it’s not the state — rather, each county’s Board of Elections makes those decisions, but they have to run it by the state and make sure it conforms to state regulations.
So just as dutchman has been counseling us on the benefits of focusing on local politics and positions to affect the national elections, it seems that if your state or county has corrupt Dominion-driven elections, you might try to get some MAGA folks on the Board of Elections, so you can have a say about what machines are used. Maybe this is common knowledge to most people, but it was news to me.
Meanwhile, Ohio’s elections were held up with FL’s as model examples of clean, efficient elections. (And J.D. Vance got in as a good MAGA senator without a hitch. And let’s support Bernie Marino — who stepped aside for Vance so as not to split the vote — to unseat Sherrod Brown in 2024.) Having a state official who cleaned the voter rolls made a big difference, but also, having state regulations forbidding internet accessibility of our machines helps as well. And maybe being on the Board of Elections can have some sway, too… Oh, and when I called the same office a few months later with concerns about the ERIC system, the director took my concerns seriously — and soon after, I read that Ohio had left the ERIC system.
So yes — I also have a phone and a pen… (And I pray.) 🙂
You do know that this is a problem with all the major election machines (ES&S and Hart)? The election machines basically use the same software. And they audit themselves – that’s right, there is no independent auditing. And even CISA said that yes, Dominion has vulnerabilities, but they don’t know if anyone used the vulnerabilities. (Basically the same as your banker saying, “yes, we left the door to the bank wide open, but we have no proof that anyone went in.”)

Whatever. I think Ohio has a pretty good track record lately (we didn’t always), and at least I did what I could to investigate. The director I spoke with seemed very honest and transparent, and said he welcomed anyone to call with questions or concerns. He said if there are problems in the system, no matter which party benefits, he wants to know about it so they can check it out. (Which is why I called back about ERIC.) I just relayed what I thought was useful info for others here. Do with it what you will.
He also said that a good conservative group I’m familiar with from my county came to his office with concerns about info from Mike Lindell about vote integrity, about glitches that were supposedly in all systems that skew the vote, and he gave them what they needed to audit the votes from our county. The fellow who heads up the group reported back and said, “I can’t lie. I went through all the votes — and every single vote checked out. There was zero fraud or errors.” This guy is very detail oriented, and follows a lot of the conservative exposes and blogs. When the director told me this, I felt a lot more confident about the integrity of elections in our area.
Okay, it sounds like none of these people know a whole lot about software. What people need to realize is that maybe .001% of the population has enough knowledge to understand what the machines are doing, and those people can’t prove it either, the same way you can’t prove a lightning strike happened unless your camera is pointed the right direction at the right second.
The Mesa County Reports are that perfect snapshot – a before and after image of the machines proving that Dominion could, and did, delete records (a crime of something like 1 felony per deletion!)
The point with machines is, YOU DON’T KNOW what’s in there! You have no way to prove it isn’t, say, green Martians inside, because nobody is allowed to look inside the machines.
It is completely unacceptable that we have an election system where you cannot personally know what happened to your vote. Because there is a much simpler, far cheaper, uncontroversial, proven system we’ve been using for hundreds of years – paper ballots, hand counted.
What I like about software that can do fraction magic averaging or weighting are decimal points…kinda like a butcher holds his finger on the scale.

A possible ulterior motive for NewsCorp is that, while they can absorb the cost of the settlement, small competitors like NewsMax et al. cannot, and stand to lose either by judgment or by inability to compete financially with the ‘precedent’ set by NewsCorp and Dominion.

we would have had a major news organization that actually could have compelled CONGRESS AND THE PEOPLE to reconsider and take pause in the election certification.

I would like a legal professional to answer this: ” If a trial had resulted in a decision against Fox, could that decision been appealed to a higher court? If so, could that have been referred to a different venue?
Remember the trial would be in Delaware, Biden country. The chance of a fair verdict was approximately zero. I do agree that Fox did not do the investigation it should have but Dominion is a hard target.
