A letter from lawyers representing Michael Cohen to the Federal Election Commission in 2018 should end the case being attempted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. However, given the highly political nature of the DA bringing the case, it is possible the ideologically driven witch hunt will continue.
The 2018 letter states that Michael Cohen made a payment to Stormy Daniels without any consultation with Donald Trump. This undermines the cornerstone of the prosecution’s case.
(Via Daily Mail) The bombshell document, exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, could throw a wrench in the works of prosecutors pursuing criminal charges against Trump over the payments. Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer and the star witness in the case over which Trump reportedly faces imminent arrest, claims that Trump got him to pay $130,000 to Daniels to keep her quiet about her alleged affair with the real estate mogul, just days before the 2016 presidential election.
[…] But in a February 8, 2018 letter to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Cohen’s attorney Stephen Ryan wrote: ‘Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds’, and that ‘Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.’
The letter was written in response to an FEC probe launched after complaints of campaign finance violations, lodged by Paul Ryan and the organization Common Cause.
‘In a private transaction in 2016, before the U.S. presidential election, Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford,’ Cohen’s lawyer, who worked at McDermott Will & Emery, wrote.
‘Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.
‘Contrary to the allegations in the complaint, which are entirely speculative, neither Mr. Cohen nor Essential Consultants LLC made any in-kind contributions to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., or any other presidential campaign committee. (more)

If Bragg knew about this, he’s finished. He can be disbarred and criminally charged.

Perhaps the Grand Jury now empaneled can push through an indictment of Alvin Bragg. Talk about petard hoisting.

Bragg needs to be disbarred- The new Democratic tactics seem to be withholding exculpatory evidence- first the Jan 6th committee only showed snippets of film of that day that supported their theory of events- and withheld the exculpatory film form the accused parties’ lawyers AND the judge (I hope some firebrand lawyers are working to get those poor political prisoners out of jail) and now Bragg gives the Grand jury a mere 6 pages of the 600 pages of evidence that Costello brought to them about Michael Cohen’s inability to be a believable witness and dox signed by Cohen admitting that he paid Stormy Daniels and never told Trump about it.
As if on queue, as Bragg’s assault on Trump failed, the Daily Mail (mouthpiece for Deep State) suggested yesterday Jack Smith Special Counsel has sufficient evidence to proceed with indictment on Mar-A-Lago classified documents. They won’t stop. They all know none of their cases have merit. But that’s not the goal. The objective is to try Trump in the court of public opinion, hoping to smear him with a barrage of potential crimes. Never mind it’s all fantasy.

This is not the first abuse of power that Bragg has perpetrated. Several months ago here in NYC, a bodega worker , a 61-year old Dominican immigrant, was attacked by a 35 year old street thug with a criminal record during a dispute over the payment of a bag of potato chips taken from the store by the thug’s girlfriend. The bodega worker, who was wounded by the attacker, managed to grab a knife and stabbed the attacker to death. The stare video clearly showed that it was self-defense. Nevertheless, Bragg immediately had the 61 year of bodega worker taken into custody, charged with 1st degree murder and thrown in jail without bail, where his wounds went untreated. There was such an outcry by victim right’s advocates, immigrant groups, Latino groups, bodega associations and just decent people, that Bragg reluctantly granted the bodega worker ‘house arrest’ after a couple weeks. The charges were ultimately dropped, but the bodega worker has since returned to the Dominican Republic. He feels safer there than in NYC. The thurg’s girlfriend who was also his accomplice was never arrested.
This case is not about illegal contributions. That is an interesting but irrelevant angle. This case is to determine if the Democrats (supported by RINOs) can utilize a criminal indictment against an opponent to interfere with elections. Another tool in their bag that is easier to manage than, say, vote harvesting. Until the bar associations step in with disbarment proceedings, there is really no down side for a Bragg. Even if ordered to pay attorney fees for a frivolous action, that cost will be borne by the taxpayers of the jurisdiction.
There is so much pressure to get Trump into another legal issue. Especially, one for paying a prostitutes while his wife was pregnant.
IMHO Bragg has a lot of people on both sides suggesting he will taken care of in the future if he cuffs Trump.
I thought Fridays were best for these arrests as the public cooks over the weekends.

I think Michael Cohen is the one who had an affair with Stormy Daniels.
He paid her hush money so his marriage and reputation wouldn’t suffer.
Then he thought of an ingenious way to get his money back!
He told Trump that Stormy wanted money from HIM!
So Trump reimbursed Cohen, believing the story.
