At first, I thought this story was fake. Then I thought it was likely just a misinterpretation of events. However, I was curious enough to just go look for myself, because there are quite a few people noticing it now. Indeed, the initial reports were not wrong.
The background story of how Senator John Fetterman’s wife reacted to the news of her husband’s hospitalization for clinical depression is just weird.
Apparently, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman’s family did not go to Washington DC with him. {h/t Gateway Pundit} Considering Mr. Fetterman was recovering from a stroke, the worst possible scenario would be stress and unfamiliar surroundings. The resulting hospitalization for clinical depression then takes on new context.
I take the approach never to judge personal life, because you just don’t ever know what is going on deeply inside the lives of others. However, things are really odd about the way Gisele Fetterman responded to the news of her husband’s hospitalization. She grabbed the passports, packed up the kids and headed to Canada. Huh?

Because always “having passports ready just in case you need to run away” when your husband is hospitalized, is something everyone can just relate to… or something.

Some also might question why she’s still married to him since her loyalty in his time of illness seems to not be a priority. But without public statements on record, we can never be certain of any particular relationship motivations and dynamics.
She was the person who seemingly, according to all contemporaneous reports, pushed him the most to tun for the seat. She even told supporters that, in the veird Clintonesque déjà vu, they would get ‘two for the price of one’, putting herself out there as a future co-senator, basically. She is out to get all she can. My first thought was, did she also transfer all of his money into her own account right before living, you know, ‘for the safety of the family’?

I can understand the desire to avoid media attention, but one doesn’t do that by posting on social media about a) where you are going and b) your cool, totally radical adventures.

Even if we assume there is nothing else going on, we are left with the picture of a woman who is not equipped to be a mother, a wife, and possibly an adult. These are not the acts of a serious, mature, or thoughtful person.

You and I do not know why she ran. Taking the kids somewhere fun is a distraction and totally appropriate in some situations. If dad was becoming abusive, verbally and physically, due to his brain issues, this makes perfect sense. Someone said he was hearing things, so, he is technically insane and not going to get better or recover. She may have been the one to put him in the hospital under psychiatric care. She may have run to avoid his reaction if he is released. There are many other possibilities for her behavior.

I think you correctly identified the issue. It is not possible to do rational analysis on irrational decisions made by people who for whatever reason are not rational. I tend to be probably overly generous when people do these things. Stress is a strange agent that can lead you to do some things that look very odd from the outside but that make perfect sense to the person doing them. And from the outside they may be able to clearly express their irrational thinking even when they are in full blowm freakout inside. Poor people. At least he will be well cared for at Walter Reed.

A “long time” goes back to at least Casey Sr who was not, despite his stand on abortion and guns, a good governor. He, along with some RINOs and all Dems in the state legislature saddled the Commonwealth with, at that time, the highest state corporate income tax in the nation. Corporations left in droves for points south and west or offshore. They took many Republican voters with them leaving a higher percentage of low information/dependency voters behind. PA has really not completely recovered and the situation is mixed in the Philly area because of an increase in high tech/financial services jobs which bring in tax revenue, but also bring in, on balance, young, leftward leaning voters.

I forgot to mention the disparity in campaign spending. Ten to one Shapiro against Mastriano; four to one Fetterman against Oz. Big GOP donors were highly discouraged by Karl Rove, among others, from contributing to Trump endorsed candidates. Rove actually made personal contributions to Shapiro. TV ads were lopsided for the Dems, even on FOX and this is where you influence many of the more elderly, more low information voters. The GOP lost control of the lower house of the legislature for the first time in almost forever. It was a nightmare and the entire PA GOP leadership should have been fired, big time. Instead they are still around, grifting contributions from suckers so they can finance their junkets and private parties. I periodically have to walk away from all of this just to keep my blood pressure from blowing the top of my head off.

I asked the question about this being a dry run to make the 2024 election completely by mail in ballots. This was aWe the People meeting yesterday, Saturday, Feb 25.
If you care AND ARE vigilant , FIND OUT about what your county is doing to switch completely to mail in ballots. Where there’s no chain of custody and a way of validating identity, there is no election integrity. This is a severe violation of our civil rights under the 14th amendment to the US Constitution and the AZ Constitution. Lawful actions are being taken here by God fearing citizens to head this off at the pass .

Lifelong PA resident here. Yes, Fetterman did get enough votes and then ballots put him over the top. To many, especially in the western part of the state, Fetterman was a “folk hero”. PA is full of “legacy Democrats”…doesn’t matter as long as there is a D behind their names. That combined with Oz seen as an “outsider” plus many on our side couldn’t vote for Oz due to his stance on social issues. PA GOP was totally feckless. Politics in PA is a lost cause.

Re: the passports, maybe it’s her immigration status. I don’t think she came to the USA legally. With her husband undergoing intense inpatient psychiatric care, many probing questions will be asked. That said, legal citizen or not, Gisele and John have the most sacred of all relationships as husband and wife, making her part of the problem.

I read this on the bird yesterday and had similar thoughts. I was like “is she a suspect in foul play?” Her whole demeanor was just strange, and it actually made me feel sorry, for Fetterman and the kids.
SD is right, it’s impossible to be on the outside looking in and know the whole of anyone’s life, or judge what’s normal. But even before Fetterman went into hospital, this woman was odd.

If you accept the possibility that it was an “arranged” marriage of sorts, and that Fetterman was used to fill a “seat”, then him being discarded makes total sense. Sad, but true.
There are many “arranged marriages” in the swamp. Many marriages (and affairs) are “influence operations”, some are family corruption operations, sort of like the Mob dealt with marriages, some are for the purposes of espionage, etc etc.

My mother had very early onset alzheimers and this sounds a lot like that. In a way you are in a place where you don’t know what you don’t know, and you really do need a full time caretaker. You don’t know you ate and your tummy is full, you just keep going back for more.
Or in his case, he doesn’t comprehend that he needs sustenance to survive. It is a sad place to be. My mother died by asphyxiation while eating on an orange. She never called out to my father in the next room, who was cleaning their dinner dishes. He came back into the room and she was already gone.
I’m so sorry for your and dad’s loss. Such a truly sad story. Finding a loved one who passed is perhaps the most horrible experience in life. It was for me.

Retired Magistrate here: When I was on the bench presiding over divorce cases, I saw cases like this all the time. A spouse would get sick and the other spouse would bail because they didn’t want the stress of dealing with the spouse’s health issues. It all boiled down to what is best for the well spouse and not the one with health issues. I would then remind the spouse that wanted to leave that their wedding vows were for better or worse and in sickness and in health. It always fell on deaf ears. I dealt with about an equal number of husband’s who wanted to leave wives over health issues as wives who wanted to leave husband’s over health issues.
In my opinion, that is what appears to be happening in this case. She knew that her husband had health issues but continued to push him anyway. Now that it appears that he knows he can’t do the job he was elected to, depression and anxiety have set in, so she bails.
Yes, I know it is difficult to have a spouse with health issues; my husband has chronic issues and so do I; however, we pull together as a team and don’t abandon one another when we need each other the most.
I suspect Fetterman wasn’t cooperating with his handler’s plans so they had him admitted against his will for unspecified ‘treatment’. The explanation that he wasn’t “taking care of himself properly” is telling.

When hospitalized for depression, the patient is not allowed to have outside visitors for at least the first two weeks. Getting your kids away from a media circus during a period where there is no chance to see their dad, sounds pretty reasonable to me.
That is not true. My mother was treated for depression and had shock treatments, but was still allowed to have her husband visit without a 2-week delay.

It also said that he lives alone in DC while his wife and kids stay back in their home in PA.
