Following upon the heels of Joe Biden attending a meeting of NATO’s “eastern flank” partners, colloquially known as “the Bucharest-9”, and against the backdrop of China stepping into the picture with “no separation” support for Russia, the Pentagon is noting the anniversary of the Ukraine conflict by indicating additional U.S. troops maybe needed on the NATO eastern flank.
It is important to mention that Ukraine is NOT a NATO country. The U.S. and Western media tend to avoid noting this uncomfortable fact, but NATO has no obligation to defend Ukraine. Some might ask why NATO is even involved at all.
With that in mind, France 24 notes there is a possibility of a brigade sized reinforcement group inbound to this region [LINK HERE]. The Pentagon press release is below:

I remember reading a year ago on several different websites that Ukraine isn’t actually a country, it’s an area with no borders. For the most part, “the present territorial boundaries of Ukraine” were created during committee meetings as “the USSR” drew to a close. Very large sections of land were simply “gifted” to it, on both the east and the west, without any of them having been won on the fields of battle. Thus, the present territorial boundaries really have very little to do with the … shall we say … human boundaries.
And, most unfortunately, this is a tale of blood-soaked internecine warfare that dates back thousands(!) of years. Literally to a grandson of Genghis Kahn. To a time before the Tsars.

Particularly Kruschev and Stalin. Western Ukraine was part of Poland and Romania. Eastern Ukraine was part of Russia. I screw up and break it often and I think this is normal. Set an eating window and push every day to make it work. When you mess up don’t give up just keep with it.

We have troops in POL, ROM, Baltics and the usual NATO countries such as GER, TURK, SPA and ITAL. Add in UK, NOR and NETH and BEL. Maybe SWE and DEN. We have anti missile bases in POL and ROM. Ostensibly to counter Iran. This is old news.
