Mark Steyn, the only man qualified to replace Rush Limbaugh, has announced his departure from GBNews after the British media company requested a contract making Steyn legally accountable for any speech or wrong-think as identified by British regulators within the Office of Communication (OfComm). {Direct Rumble Link}
Within Britain, all media speech is monitored by the Office of Communications (OfComm), where official government censors track commentary according to regulatory and compliance rules established by the government. Previously, Mark Steyn ran afoul of the OfComm investigators when he began questioning the efficacy and safety of the COVID-19 vaccinations. There are two investigations ongoing with possible fines pending for violating rules on government approved speech.
Into this mix comes the now capitulating GBNews organization, where Mark Steyn and Neil Oliver have both pushed the boundaries of acceptable thought. While Mark Steyn was offline, recovering from two heart attacks, I noticed something was shifting in the past several weeks at GBNews; from the presentation of Oliver to the way the content was being shared (no uploads and missing transcripts). It seemed like something tenuous and opaque was happening in the background. Steyn confirms. WATCH:
As noted by Steyn in the contract he rejected: “To the extent that the presenter and/or the US producers do not incorporate Ofcom regulatory input into an edition of the program, this shall be considered a material breach of this agreement, and the Mark Steyn Company shall indemnify GB News for any and all direct loss, liability, costs, including reasonable legal costs, damages, or expenses that it suffers as a result of any regulatory breach.”
GBNews is acquiescing to the thought police, and Mark Steyn is rightly leaving. Good for him. Enough with this controlled corporate speech nonsense. The voices of the resistance should not cower to the regime. CTH stands with Steyn, AGAIN!

Having a sports talk radio host take over for a issues/political talk radio host was not a good idea.
Rush Limbaugh was a genius on air. He was like a Mighty Wurlitzer organ in Radio City Music Hall, where the other commentators are like tinkling little toy pianos.

Agree. Rush was always able to see thru things and reveal the “behind the scenes” truth. Clay & Buck would be much better suited to CNN or MSLSD.

I want to find Ken Matthews! He was more listenable than any. He eloquently broadcast more info and analysis at a faster pace. I thought for certain he was Rush’s heir. How this talent was overlooked I’ll never understand. Thank you for mentioning him! I couldn’t remember his first name. Now I can look for him, and I’m happy to know I’m not the only one who misses him.

UK has become an absolute disgrace. There is no free speech in the UK. The government decides what speech is allowed and what is not allowed. If you violate it’s off with your head figuratively. Giant fines stifle free speech. This just goes along with everything else that has taken the UK from a world power to a rapidly descending Third World like country. Sad.

After many years of living among Brits in a former colony and eventually living in England for a couple of years, I am increasingly dismayed at the rate at which old friends there seem too tired or too disinterested to resist the stifling of speech. They hide behind rationalizations that have to do with how their children feel (the children being totally woke (how did that happen???)). Other great traditions of the country are being vigorously attacked (hunting and racing to name two) and participants are shrinking violets too afraid for their own social acceptance to take a stand. What would Churchill say??????
Sorry to hear Mark had two heart attacks. I hope he regroups and finds a new place to call home. He and Ken Matthews should team up somehow.
I know that Mark has been given the covid injections because his last Mark Steyn Club in 2021 was a cruise of the Mediterranean and covid injections were required of everyone by the cruise line. I very much fear this is why he has had these two heart attacks and I sure hope he is in touch with the Dr. Pierre Kory group about recovering from vaccine injury.
The 2021 Mediterranean cruise was canceled, probably because of those requirements: The 2023 replacement is advertising specifically that neither vaccinations nor tests are required.
This is horrible. The UK is sucking at everything especially free speech. I was dropping FOX and watching GBNews for Nigel Farage and Mark Steyn.

I was greatly disappointed that Mark didn’t get Rush’s show slot. I always enjoyed Mark when he sat in for Rush, instead, for some reason I will never understand the CNN lite boys, Clay and Buck got the slot. I listened to them a couple of times and they are not worthy of Rush’s audience or his bumper music.

If you listen to Mark about what happened at clear channel he tells how he wouldn’t acquiesce to the head of clear channel and not talk about election fraud.

My husband is a Steyn fan, but he never listened to Rush! I was a daily Rush addict early on. Since the sound of Steyn’s voice meant no Rush fix that day, I have a Pavlovian dislike for Steyn! I’m relieved Steyn is NOT there now forever reminding us, Rush is not on today.
While Rush was in treatment, Ken Mathews was the only broadcaster who gratified my Rush addiction without the taint of having been the substitute. Where did Ken go?
