Chinese spy balloon over US is weather device says Beijing
An alleged spy balloon spotted over the US is a Chinese “CIVILIAN airship” which had deviated from its planned route, China says.
US defence officials said they believed the balloon, seen above sensitive areas in recent days, was in fact a “high-altitude surveillance” device.
But in a statement, China’s foreign ministry said it was used for “mainly meteorological” purposes.
China “regrets the unintended entry” of the balloon into US airspace, it added.
However, the government prepared fighter jets in case the object had to be shot down.
The Chinese statement said the balloon had been blown off-course by unexpected winds.
“Affected by the Westerlies and with limited self-steering capability, the airship deviated far from its planned course.
“The Chinese side regrets the unintended entry of the airship into US airspace due to force majeure.”
The statement referred to the incident as an “unexpected situation” and said Beijing would continue to communicate with the US side.
On Friday, Canada said it had summoned China’s ambassador over the incident and will continue to “vigorously express” its position to Chinese officials.
The balloon has been reported in US media as being about the size of three buses.
They added that the balloon was “appearing to hang out for a longer period of time” than others tracked by the US over the past several years.

Saw the video link late last night. Very suspicious. Not the veracity of the video per se, but the flashes of intense light behind the house in the foreground.
The audio was on, and yet no sound was recorded for the many seconds after the flashes.
Something about this does not add up.

China may have a specific, military purpose for these stratospheric balloons.
In 2017 China dropped a couple of drones from a stratospheric balloon. The U.S. I believe has worked on using this type of balloon to drop many many small spy devices in enemy territory —these small spy devices are designed to land all around the countryside, within 40 miles of where they’re dropped from a stratospheric balloon. Am assuming if we can do it, China probably has the same capability.
This Chinese balloon has flow over our military and nuclear silo sites in Montana and I think was recently spotted near a military base around St Louis. Is it dropping spy devices as it flies over our country?

Daily Mail, Red State, The Gateway Pundit are reporting an explosion this eve in the sky over Billings, MT . Witness released video and claims to have seen a fast moving jet. Supposedly the balloon is no longer in Montana having been spotted around St Louis. But perhaps before leaving Montana the balloon left a present, like a spy drone behind that was shot down? Not sure yet if I believe this report of an explosion. Will keep watching for more info to come out. The Governor is supposed to be briefed shortly by the National Guard
