Tomorrow, Sunday November 6th, President Trump will be holding a rally in Miami-Dade, Florida, for the slate of republican candidates. All of the main republican candidates, including both Florida senators, who rely on the diverse America-First MAGA movement for election victories will be there…. Except Ron DeSantis.
Now, I get it. I mean, I understand why the people managing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis cannot have their principle appearing at a MAGA rally to receive the endorsement of President Trump, an almost certain 2024 candidate they are planning to challenge a few months later. However, I get it because I see the roadmap they’ve laid in front of him; a roadmap he is following.
But again, it takes a level of intellectual honesty to accept the basic point that if Ron DeSantis was not planning to run for higher office, or at least leave that option available, there is nothing to lose for DeSantis to appear with Trump. The only downside to attending the Miami MAGA rally is if DeSantis would want to challenge President Trump a few months later. Honesty is the cornerstone of accepting things as they are, not as we would wish them to be.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will not be at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition Center, because the team managing Ron DeSantis national branding campaign don’t want him there.
Since July/Aug {Go Deep} the new management in charge of DeSantis have been positioning him as the Trump alternative, the more acceptable republican candidate, ie. the club candidate
Instead, the republican club and Wall Street financed “Friends of Ron DeSantis” superPAC ($150+ million) have organized another optical event in the much deeper red, Southwest Florida (advertisement left) [LINK HERE].
Notice who is paying for the DeSantis event. Parker Yancey McCollum is an American Americana and country singer-songwriter based in Texas, and if you follow the granular details of the GOPe branding effort, you might notice the DeSantis management team have deployed the strategy of hitching the governor’s wagon to popular music stars [Luke Bryan example].
This specific branding approach is familiar to professional political consultants and those who follow the deep weeds around ‘imaging’ in political campaigns. The objective is to use the popularity of the Hollywood or music star as a draw for the crowd. The managed politician benefits from the optical illusion of a large crowd gathered to support the candidate.
The image and branding approach is useful in avoiding a campaign event at a venue where the crowd doesn’t show up, which looks horrible for the candidate.
While President Donald Trump rallies the MAGA movement in Miami-Dade, specifically going to the formerly deep blue region to drive the proverbial stake through the heart of the left-wing political machine in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis will hold court within deep red southwest Florida, using Parker McCollum to hopefully offset the optics of DeSantis absence at the MAGA rally.

To emphasize… Governor Ron DeSantis is a good governor, a good manager, well liked and should be well supported by the Florida voting base. There are several large issues for Florida that voters are counting on Governor DeSantis and the Florida legislature to tackle quickly in 2023.
Florida has a major housing crisis combined with a serious issue of unaffordable insurance rates crushing the finances of Florida residents. For many Floridians their homeowner’s insurance costs, now the highest in the nation, are equal to -or higher than- their mortgage payments, and it’s getting worse. Energy costs have skyrocketed and that is making overall inflation that much more impactful.
The costs to live in Florida are putting an even more severe burden on those with a fixed income. All of the working-class residents and retirees in Florida are feeling the issue, and there are things the state can do to help.
Charlie Crist would be an absolute nightmare scenario for Florida, but thankfully his hopes of election victory next week are virtually nil. That is a good thing.

I used to not have much of an opinion on DeSantis. I knew he voted for TPP so was a no vote for me, but I didn’t really dislike him like Haley or Noem or Scott, etc.

My post wasn’t really against PB though, it was about how they posed for pictures on poll-tested furniture not the actual furniture in a very lovely Governor’s mansion. It’s incredibly phony.
I love Arhaus and another favorite is Ballard Designs. Extremely well made furniture.
I recommend Ballard Designs all the time. If you need a piece for a particular purpose or to complete a room, they will have it and the quality is almost always good.
PB 25 years ago had some good stuff. Restoration Hardware was way more expensive and not really justifiably so. I have a table, love seat, and couch from PB in my living room that we bought when the house was built 25 years ago and they are still going strong. Got new covers for the couch and love seat about 10 years ago to change the décor. But I haven’t been in a PB store in 20 years or more.
PB is made by several different manufacturers. So, some is really well made and some is made poorly. I live by a PB outlet so I see floor model conditions and not all of it is good.
PB and even Ikea have staples they’ve sold for decades that are well-made and recommended by interior designers but you can’t assume that everything at the store is equal quality.
RH is overpriced, but until the last 5 to 10 years had more consistent quality than a PB, West Elm, etc.

An indictment and conviction in such an environment? It is in these very same spaces that so many opine so frequently about the mass of uninformed, lazy sheeple. I like the smart poker player. Makes the right moves at the right times. Goes in for the kill at the right moment. There’s no need to create enemies on the way to winning an election. I agree with the prevailing thought here that (barring an indictment & conviction) an RDS challenge amounts to political suicide. So, we’re left with the thought that RDS is a bought and paid for kamikaze who has no expectations to ever run for higher office successfully. We shall see.
You know, aside from fracturing the party, were RDS really anti-PDJT, his best avenue is to retain the governorship and fight everything the next admin proposes just as he is doing now with the current regime. Is RDS mishandling the optics and shooting self in foot with questionable ambiguities? Absolutely. We will see if that comes to harm him in time.
Winning the election and effecting the change that is needed afterward is going to require support from multiple classes of voters. The first time through failed precisely because that support was absent – certainly at the political (and executive) level. If the numbers are there, then there is no reason to stress or froth invectives at this point. Keep the power dry until it’s really needed.
See how this plays out. If RDS decides to be the party crasher, it doesn’t matter what MAGA nation thinks or votes. He will do it because he has been bought, believes he is the better candidate – whatever the reason of the day he feels is compelling. If he does not, then there is no sense undercutting the broader support that is at stake – at this point.
For my own part, I will put myself on report. I don’t really care who the candidate is based on personality type. I will vote for the one who best synchs with my political objectives, my sense of morality and my notion of leadership. Sometimes, that leads one to “best available”. So be it.
I voted for PDJT in the last two elections based on those criteria.

I voted in the primary in Cook County. When I asked for a Republican ballot, the woman behind the table stopped in mid-sentence and shot me a look. Then she said she couldn’t find my name on the list. Luckily another woman said she’d take me and found my name right away. Remember: It’s not who votes, it’s who counts the votes!
At the Clerks office they checked our drivers license to verify we were registered, the first time in years we were asked for identification. They also has a please wear a mask sign on the door, which we just ignored as did most of the workers inside.

Any political consultant that can rub a couple brain cells together should be able to figure this out just by watching those currently running…against MAGA.
The problem with the political consultants and their advice is that they get their cut either way. Sometimes the certain loser campaigns, run poorly, can be the most lucrative from a revenue standpoint (see, e.g., Jeb!).
And you can never be absolutely certain who the consultants are really working for. I am convinced that McCain and Romney’s consultants were on Obama’s payroll.
There was apparently an article in Vanity Fair claiming that DeSantis is telling GOP donors that he’s not running in 2024. What’s really interesting is that it was written by the same VF writer who earlier wrote a piece about RDS saying that he *was* running. Not sure what to make of this.

Get involved at your county GOP precint level. Become precinct chairs.
Would love to hear people’s experiences with the precinct straegy. In New York I actually looked into doing this, but my county’s GOP is very anti-MAGA and at the precinct level I would have been asked to help the local GOP promote anti-MAGA candidates. How does the precinct strategy work in that situation?
Later found out that the head of the county GOP hand selected their candidate for Congress without even letting anyone else in the party know or anyone involved with the party give input or vote on it.
On a positive note, I recently discovered the Conservative Party in NYS that is fairly close to MAGA. And they are smart and effective esp given their much more limited funding –they had some great strategic wins in defeating leftist ballot measures. So am looking in that direction.

When the rot is that bad, how does the precinct strategy work?
Do not underestimate the value of placing honest, patriotic limited government politicians in outnumbered situations. Having an honest set of eyes on corruption can put a real wrench in thier works.
I have had experience in GOP orgs at local and county levels where GOP is in minority. First and foremost lesson for me was realizing the GOPe does not want active aggressive patriots like us as Precinct Chair and District Chairs. The GOPe needs to control from the top down, instead of a bottom-up representative system.
Most precinct chairs are empty or ineffective. Securing yours is usually a matter calling the county GOP office for process/dates, gathering up some neighbors and other patriots in your neighborhood and showing up at the county GOP meeting.
When like-minded Patriots find or can elect a patriot as District Chair, alot becomes possible at the county and state conventions.
Another under utilized local function is the GOP candidate selection committee. When those are strong, it may be just the boost that non-establishment republicans need to find support from the county party machine.
The purpose of getting involved is to do what has been happening here in Arizona – push the RINO’s out and bring in new blood who will help pick better candidates.

If President Trump declares his candidacy, only a fool would choose to run against him in the republican primaries. Desantis may not be MAGA, but I see no evidence that he is a fool.
The professional republicans are helpless against Donald Trump, but they may very well try to buy Desantis in hopes of heading off another MAGA presidency in 2028.

I’ve been watching and reading about the Ron DeSantis political posturing here since Sundance first pointed it out for all to see in the entire country. Living in WV, I have no dog in this hunt……yet. However, I know a lot of native West Virginians move to Florida for various reasons such as retirement, business, jobs, family, warmer climate, taxes, etc.
As it stands right now, Ron DeSantis is the ONLY choice for Governor as grifter Charlie Crist is a disaster. That being said, DeSantis had better get the “stars in his eyes” under control or like many others have said, his political career will be over. The “Shooting Star” will fizzle.
Not attending a popular Save America Trump rally and holding an “alternative” Don’t Tread on Florida rally at the same time with a so called “country star”, is not only obvious, but is not a good show of unity for Making America Great Again.
All I can say right now is to vote for DeSantis for Governor against Crist, stay vigilant and become aware of these establishment political tricks and posturing . Take it from someone who has seen the best of these “good ole boys” in action in WV. Do your best not to let Ron DeSantis become Florida’s next three faced Joe Manchin, JEB! or lying Ted Cruz..

I’ve been around long enough that I picked up on the show up at a music event to make it look like people love and support you scam… the Clinton’s perfected it, but it didn’t help Hillary against Obama or Trump and I don’t think will help DeSantis either.
I have a question for Sundance… I assume the relentless ads by Ed Rollins on Fox are not free. Rollins was for years a daily guest on Lou Dobbs old Fox Business show, and supposedly supported Trump. WHO is behind Rollins ads to get people to call in order to get DeSantis to run in 24….
Infact… I think the answer to my question would make another Treehouse deep dive article….because the Rollins thing actually raised my suspicions.
I also have been very aware of the people on FB, like Michael Walsh who writes not only history novels but also contributes to NYPost and other pubs literally jumped from Trump to pushing DeSantis early in 2021… in fact he blocked me when I pushed back on this, along with others.
My feeling is that DeSantis will do nothing about the high cost of insurance in the state because of the insurance companies that are funding his campaign.
It makes me sad that we have to be so careful, but thankfully, Trump has shown us the difference between MAGA and the swamp of Uniparty grifters.
It will be another way Normal Floridians are priced out of existence.
Look, I came to FL because of a great job offer. I lived in earthquake country. We put extra stabilization in our home to protect it.
Point is…We chose to live there without earthquake insurance, and accepted the risk. If people want to live in FL, where the risk of hurricanes is acute, they need to take responsibility for that choice.
Bottom line… If you choose to live in FL, accept the cost of the risk. All these wealthy fools live right on the coast, and then complain about the cost of the risk.
And as usual, when gov’t steps in to insure the inherently uninsurable, it ultimately benefits nobody. The entire FL homeowners insurance market needs to be reworked, and stop sticking the taxpayers with the bill.
DeSantis needs to push back on the covid criminals so hard their noses bleed. Investigate and sue everyone.
He needs to institute a 100% patients bill of rights forcing doctors and hospitals to follow patient treatment requests.
He needs to institute a pharmacy reorganization that takes many drugs out of the prescription model. e.g. inhalers, ivermectin, etc
He needs to ban lockdowns for any reason whatsoever.
He needs to institute maximum Federalism. It worked for abortion.
Warning: pjMedia and Instapundit have gone hard for DeSantis (and are pro-Ukraine). Trump should be careful.
