The GOPe club are targeting MAGA voters by providing a manufactured and managed alternative to Donald Trump. That’s why you feel a little cringy when you watch the ad. The inauthentic nature transmits within the implied message.
The people behind Texas congressman Dan Crenshaw, likely the same branding group, did the same thing portraying Crenshaw as an action hero.
Ron DeSantis pre-staging in August ’22 is Ted Cruz pre-staging in August ’14.
Everything about Cruz ’16 is identical to DeSantis ’24, including the social media network, influencers and online media groups doing the promotion.

Club branding is subtle on the image front, but very clear on the substantive messaging side. Social issues selected to maximize camp coalition, and influence base.
Consistently present political messaging where the republican voter base can say “yes.” Keep the “yes” messaging at the forefront (social emphasis). Focus on values. Schools, kids, safety, woke pushback, media bias etc, keep the audiences nodding yes. Ultimately, it’s a sales technique. Identify with the target to influence their decisions.
Issues around multinational & corporate economics, hard lines, foreign policy, all these things must be avoided – except in general terms. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is not to be challenged, not really. Keep the message social and build the emotional connection. It is harder to break an emotional bond than a logical or cognitive bond.
These are the political techniques of Lee Atwater that still make up the bulk of the GOPe club playbook. The greatest skill of the professionally republican is to present the illusion of choice in such a way as the voters do not see it.
Keep in mind, back in Washington DC both clubs are collaborating on the Trump removal program because both clubs’ benefit.

I’m actually a little surprised that DeSantis went along with this ad. My spidey-sense tells me he knew it was cringy, but the outcome helps highlight what happens when the club starts making the decisions. The club has a habit of generating products into an audience they don’t understand.
Sundance, ‘they’ did a mini walk out like this for, for Adam Kinzinger when he first ran for office, to represent the good people of IL. In Kinzinger’s case, it took a little longer before he became identified as a RINO. But he was, initially, identified as a ‘true’ conservative.

I will take it one step further, having an elderly dear friend in cancer treatment…I was not too happy when they paraded out his Mrs. with the cancer treatment episode. IMHO, I was sort of shocked…and felt it was in poor taste.

Here’s the damning thing – the people behind DeSantis knew Trump’s home was going to be raided…in advance. They had already worked out a media strategy for DeSantis in which he’d go radio silence for several days. DeSantis was told to stand down and obeyed his masters.
That foreknowledge alone tells me all I need to know about the interests backing DeSantis and a little about DeSantis himself. It’s going to shatter many voters’ illusions about our political process, and the Right-Left push and pull hyped by the media.
I’m feeling less enthusiastic about DeSantis even for 2028 these days. Better to learn these lessons now than in a general election.

The biggest problem I have with DeSantis right now is the lack of originality. You can see that he’s trying so hard to mime Trump. What’s that quote again — “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery“?
It’s pretty clear the big donors wanna get rid of Trump because he’s not interested in another war on the other hemisphere. Wars are like a gravy train to these people. The timing pretty much screams coordination well before the Red Raid.
Unfortunately this tactic is fooling some people. The plan is a MAGA civil war, and Ron seems eager to make it happen. It would be a vicious primary and a MAGA civil war with a split vote would even open the opportunity for a 3rd candidate to be competitive in quite a few states.
Actually I should say it’s the back up plan. The primary goal is throwing Trump in jail if possible. Unfortunately I think Ron would be perfectly happy with that . Which is something I would have not dreamed of thinking just months ago(I was fooled).
Once Trump is out of the way, it’s smooth sailing for Ron in the primary. Sure, he will still pretend to be somewhat MAGA in the primary if he faces competition. Heck, he might even promise to consider a pardon for Trump.

Indeed, people are VERY CONCERNED about this possibility and all the ramifications surrounding it. This is why there is a deeper anger about DeSantis – because we had hoped , just maybe, he was the real deal and could step up if needed. Now we know he is owned and we reject him.
We are also concerned that the Deep State is very unllikely to allow a peaceful transfer of power if the Republican Party wins the majority, especially if the majority is MAGA.
They will read this as a act of war against them and their government.
Or that RDS would at least stand up against the DS efforts against PDJT in his own state.

There are still lots of Trump supporters that believe he is going to swoop in on a white horse and make all this go away, or that if he is damaged beyond repair that his fellow supporters will step up and do battle on his behalf– these are the things I doubt, as well as my fellow citizens appetite for an actual civil war. The DS ran rough shod over most areas of this country during the Plandemic, and there were no riots from our side, even though folks were losing their livelihoods and freedoms. That was the test of American fortitude, and we mostly failed as a citizenry. As I said on another site, conservatives are the rule followers, and we have our own good nature used against us by these animals. We would have to burn all we hold dear to the ground to really take this country back, and I am doubtful most would be willing to do that. Look at what the J6ers are going through, and they didn’t even do anything truly illegal for the most part. Who among us will sit in prison for the cause?
My father used to tell me that the most dangerous enemy was the one with nothing to lose. What do the communists have to lose at this point? As a future Florida Conservative Voter (hopefully), I had a similar experience here in Canada, that “opened my eyes to how nasty Politics & Religion” can get!
Last Sept. I decided (for the 1st time in my life) to support a local candidate for the PPC (People’s Party of Canada) because I believed their leader Maxime Bernier, was the best bet for a Canadian Version of Donald J. Trump & since Canadian Politics needs to be “cleaned-up”, he was the man to do it.
Imagine my “shock & surprise” when Bernier turned out to be NOT what I expected” (sort of like Doug Ford here in Ontario, who I voted for)! There were some supporters of the PPC that cheered me on, BUT mostly I was getting hate to the point that a woman actually tried to de-fraud my insurance company by staging a fake insurance claim against me for damage to her husband’s car! AND my own automotive insurance company denied paying ME after I did the repairs myself, because they said that I had to have Collision Coverage in Ontario’s No-Fault Insurance Plan, yet they were willing to pay any Body Shop for the repair that I did myself!
My point here is, SD & most of the comments on here seem to be very “Professional” (in that I wish that I could put my thoughts on paper as well as this, but I just cannot, so bear with me), I have chosen to wait to see what Ron Desantis does next, before I make up my mind about him.

I think you are seeing the situation more clearly than most, Raptor. Most of these folks have no idea how bad this situation is. I was a Trump supporter before it was cool, in deep blue territory that would have gotten my house burned down. But, for all his successes, we cannot forget that DJT was beaten by the deep state, and we are in this situation now because folks bought into the “Q” narrative that there was some secret force of patriots working behind the scenes to right all the wrongs. That is clearly not true, and at this point I see zero evidence that there are any serious or reasonable folks left in government. I too am weary of the revolutionary talk. Folks have no idea what that would look like in real time, and their level of comfort will not allow them to imagine it accurately. My time in the military showed me what complete and utter dysfunction in a country looks like, and modern Americans have no appetite for that. I am sad to say I do not think this thing is moving in the direction folks think it is.

a military lawyer with a non-combat role. This ad is on the edge of stealing valor.
This gives strong credence to Sundance’s appraisal of DeSantis, which is disappointing. I was hoping that Sundance was wrong.
