The Florida governor went silent following the raid on Mar-a-Lago, sending one tweet from his private account, then remaining in a bunker for the next five days. No doubt he agreed to stay silent at the guidance of the club managers behind his new political construct [that group almost certainly likely knew in advance of the FBI raid]. He exited the bunker with a new press secretary and national brand image launch. Here’s the NATIONAL ad:

Once you see the strings on the marionettes you can never unsee them. The GOPe club uses the same play book. If you pulled a focus group of never-trumpers, then watched them discuss their snarky view of the MAGA voters they hate, then packaged that conversation into a targeted ad, this ‘cringeworthy’ outcome is exactly what you get.
The GOPe club are targeting MAGA voters by providing a manufactured and managed alternative to Donald Trump. That’s why you feel a little cringy when you watch the ad. The inauthentic nature transmits within the implied message.
The people behind Texas congressman Dan Crenshaw, likely the same branding group, did the same thing portraying Crenshaw as an action hero.
Ron DeSantis pre-staging in August ’22 is Ted Cruz pre-staging in August ’14.
Everything about Cruz ’16 is identical to DeSantis ’24, including the social media network, influencers and online media groups doing the promotion.

Club branding is subtle on the image front, but very clear on the substantive messaging side. Social issues selected to maximize camp coalition, and influence base.
Consistently present political messaging where the republican voter base can say “yes.” Keep the “yes” messaging at the forefront (social emphasis). Focus on values. Schools, kids, safety, woke pushback, media bias etc, keep the audiences nodding yes. Ultimately, it’s a sales technique. Identify with the target to influence their decisions.
Issues around multinational & corporate economics, hard lines, foreign policy, all these things must be avoided – except in general terms. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is not to be challenged, not really. Keep the message social and build the emotional connection. It is harder to break an emotional bond than a logical or cognitive bond.
These are the political techniques of Lee Atwater that still make up the bulk of the GOPe club playbook. The greatest skill of the professionally republican is to present the illusion of choice in such a way as the voters do not see it.
Keep in mind, back in Washington DC both clubs are collaborating on the Trump removal program because both clubs’ benefit.
If we watch closely, we will see a MAGA-lite, professionally controlled republican go from five-days as a pupa, to chrysalis, to national club butterfly.

I’m actually a little surprised that DeSantis went along with this ad. My spidey-sense tells me he knew it was cringy, but the outcome helps highlight what happens when the club starts making the decisions. The club has a habit of generating products into an audience they don’t understand.

I saw the Pennsylvania speech, which was supposed to promote Mastriano but only praised the job he, DeSantis, has done running FL. It was embarrassing to see the blatant self promotion. If I were Doug Mastriano or the people of PA, I would not be happy. I would feel used.
Now my contention is that Ron expects to sail into re-election as Governor of Florida while really using our votes to run for President. He has no commitment to finish the job or even start the job he’s being re-elected to. No commitment to the State he was born and raised in, which he supposedly loves.

I saw recently that DeSantis has raised more money than Trump since he left office. However, only 6% of the money raised by DeSantis was from small donors. The vast majority is from the very wealthy funding him.
Meanwhile the vast majority of Trump donations were small donors(less than $200).
It seems pretty clear what the strategy is here with the big money pushing DeSantis. Does it mean he is a fraud? Perhaps not, but it raises a ton of red flags.
When Mar-A-Lago was hit, RD went down 10 points and DJT went UP 10 points. I’m not seeing praise for RD on the way he handled such things as whether he KNEW about the raid ahead of time, or really anything else.

I noticed something over the last dozen months or so about RDS’ mannerisms when he speaks. He appears to have studied President Trump and co-opted some of Trumps gestures. For instance DeSantis will repeatedly point at the audience with his index finger and then transition into a “spreading” gesture with both hands perpendicular to the floor facing each other and opening his arms wide. President Trump often does the exact same thing, especially when he is trying to “sell” a point.
I have no idea whether that is significant but it sure looks like Ron is trying to emulate the Master.

My youngest son was bragging about a young actor now taking over the role of one of his favorite DC comic characters in a new movie, and Son opines that this newbie is better than Clark Gable and Randolph Scott, Gregory Peck, Sean Connery, and half a dozen other actors of my day who had a bearing wherever they went, even on the sidewalks of places half the world away from home, that people noticed them, and not just because of “looks” but the Bearing of a Man – to be reckoned with. Men who don’t look all “bulled out” or arrogant or self-important, but their personality , their “stance” if you will, their look about them of intelligence and perceptiveness… I think they used to call it GRIT. They have a Heft to them – a certain “weightiness”, in the Gut.
The man he showed me, forgot his name and the movie, reminded me of a catalogue model for nice suits. I didn’t see anything in him that smacked of capabilities, or that IT quality, or of that sense that this was the kind of person who could efficiently take care of problems easily, smoothly without bravado or fanfare.
Can you tell I am stuck for the right word? I had it at the beginning of that sentence. Very frustrating.
A sense of Calm Control and Steadiness, and Steadfast, a man who can read a room in a glance and misses nothing.
And these actors’ personal lives reflect that in anecdotal accounts we run across from time to time. No ego. You just Do what has to be done.

It’s not unreasonable to warm up DeSantis as the relief pitcher. The Dems are going to try to indict Trump on criminal charges, then put him into a months long meat grinder in a Trump-hate-filled D.C. court. If convicted it could then take over a year to get SCOTUS to overturn the conviction.
For allegedly-held “illegal documents” at Mar-a-Lago, he’s got a shot at having the trial in Miami. With a jury composed of 20-50% Trump-voting Republicans, he would most likely get a hung jury mistrial. But the rabid Left DOJ would retry him. With an honest judge, they would not be given a third bite at the apple, but without knowing the judge, he/she might allow it, tying up our beloved president for quite some time. I don’t think the Lawfare thugs can stop DJT from running, but he might tire of the fight. If he hands the baton to Ron, he will still be beloved.

My preference would be for DJT to run, and for DeSantis to continue being an exemplar for other governors to stand up for their states’ 10th Amendment sovereign powers.
