An interesting story promoted by Rebel News, highlights the plight of an Amish farmer who operates a private market club for his products. Because his crops, dairy and beef are not sold to the ‘general public,’ and only to those who are members of the private food club, Amos Miller contends he should not be subject to USDA regulations.
Miller’s organic farm operates on century old farming practices. His farm uses no electricity, no tractors, no diesel, no gasoline, and he produces exceptional all natural yields which people are willing to pay top dollar to purchase.
Additionally, because Mr. Miller doesn’t use chemical fertilizer or fuel, his farm has not been impacted by the increased costs that have hit industrial farms. He and his customers are completely unaffected by outside influence.
However, a federal judge ruled that despite his closed members-only market, he must have USDA inspectors for his beef and cattle slaughter processes. Miller does not want to use the regulated and required pharmaceutical antibiotics, and other regulatory processes required by the USDA. He now faces jail time and a $300,000 fine. [Rebel News Article]
While CTH is completely on the side of the Miller farm, it’s not fair to share this story without providing the alternative perspective from the side of the regulatory agencies.
(Via Lancaster Online) – […] “The United States submits that Mr. Miller’s continuing recalcitrance and flouting of the court’s orders requires a robust, more-coercive civil contempt sanction than previously imposed,” government attorneys wrote in its request filed in late July. “Specifically … the court should order him to be incarcerated until he has paid these sums that are long overdue.”
U.S. District Judge Edward G. Smith scheduled a hearing for Sept. 26 at the federal courthouse in Easton for Miller to show why he should not be jailed.
And the government wants Miller’s wife, Rebecca Miller, added as a defendant in the case because she is a co-owner of Miller’s Organic Farm. That will also be addressed at the hearing.
Miller — who has an attorney, but has been filing paperwork on his own — filed a response on Aug. 5 suggesting Smith and the government are “working in concert” in supposedly violating his rights. The filing seeks a stay of the proceedings and indicates Miller plans to appeal issues in which he contends the judge is wrong.
[…] Miller first came to the attention of federal authorities in 2016, when the Food and Drug Administration said it identified Listeria in samples of Miller’s raw milk; the agency found the Listeria to be genetically similar to the bacteria found in two people who developed listeriosis — one of whom died — after consuming raw milk.. It’s an interesting issue, specifically interesting because the members of the private food club are in a hold-harmless relationship with the Miller farm.
What do you think?
Been buying from Amos for years. Never any problem at all. This is Big Ag using bought politicians and their cronies to stifle innovation(the reverse kind) and discouraging access to healthy foods.
The founders knew a ‘civil society” was needed for a republic to succeed. Respect for oneself and for others. Do unto others that one would want to be done to you.
the thing that is preventing true ‘progress’ in every facet of life is some ‘agency’ that is unaccountable to anyone but itself.
defund this.
tax strike. everything strike. stop feeding the hand that beats YOU
Regrettably, few wish to look at or discuss hard choices and actions. That was one aspect I respected with PDJT. He looked at things head on and made bold, often outrageous, moves and took the results equally head on. We need to learn from that.
ALL of this over-reach and over-regulation and bureaucratic tyranny is based on the “regulate commerce among the states” clause and the hyper-expanded reach of said clause by the courts over the decades. The feds view it as a limitless, absolute power meaning, in their minds and interpretations, no one can buy and/or sell ANYTHING without the government’s full control, full standardization and complete knowledge.
The “Food Safety Modernization Act” was rammed through Congress in 2009 when Obama and the democrats had a super-majority. It is pure fascist tyranny and a complete takeover of ALL of America’s food… from the very dirt it grows in to the moment it ends up on your plate. It claims the right to “inspect” and jackboot all over any person’s farm at any time the government sees fit during “normal business hours”. An “agent” can an any time enter your property without your consent or even your knowledge and snoop around your fields, barns, woods, etc… in the name of “food safety”. They essentially wrote a pretended law full of pretended powers claiming they have a “legal right” to violate the privacy and private property rights of ANY person who so happens to live on a farm and sell what they grow for a living.
The ENTIRE US ADMINSTRATIVE/DEEP STATE needs to be abolished FOREVER!!!
ANY pretended power to “protect us from ourselves” and to provide “safety” over ANYTHING other than safeguarding our natural rights is NOT a function of ANY legitimate federal government. And any and all such pretended “laws” are 100% unconstitutional.
Safety is NOT A VIRTUE!! And insofar as it relates to ANYTHING other than our natural rights, it is NOT an enumerated power of the federal government.
I must side with Mr. Miller. Yet, there is an important aspect to this story that is missing: The Listeria “which was similar to Listeria …” which killed two people. Where and when and who were the people killed by Listeria?… Was it a hundred years ago? Freedom entails personal responsibility- the folks consuming Mr. Millers milk willing do so- what right has our tyrant bureaucracy to overrule personal choice? This is no different than the authorities telling us we must take the C-19 ‘vaccination’- “its’ for the greater good, comrade”.
Yup, actually reading the underlying articles, many from Communist-leaning outlets that spun the content against the Amish, one had to acknowledge the real words on the page like you quoted.
Hello, Fauci and Covid anyone? It’s Branch 4 doubletalk.
Mr. Miller has been fighting this case for years, although it started out as a USDA issue, it may have taken a whole new turn now that Mr. Miller told the courts that he wants a Sovereign Citizen Group out of Washington state to represent him. The US Government consider Sovereign Citizens to be right wing extremists and very dangerous(which is total BS, the ones I read about are either left wing nut jobs or just crazy, others are harmless and just doing what they believe is in their rights) Mr. Miller is Amish and probably doesn’t even realize the target he put on his and his wife’s backs. The Government and those 87,000 armed IRS Agents are coming for anyone they think might be a sovereign citizen. This includes people who followed Qnon, people who did not get the COVID vax(like myself, i’m not vaccinated) and even the truckers who protested. I only found out about sovereign citizens while researching Mr. Millers farm store. To sum things up, pretty much anyone who disagrees with the left are going to be labeled as Sovereign Citizens by Government and targeted by the IRS. Just do a search for Sovereign Citizens and there are a ton of articles about it. A lot of government sites like HUD have info on identifying sovereign citizens.
The article below is infuriating to read, but it does explain who the Government deems as sovereign citizens. It also mentions a group out of Washington State and I really hope it’s not the same group Mr. Miller is using.

Thanks that can be useful for direct action. Mr. Miller isn’t a direct action guy; he’s a peaceful Amish but good information nonetheless.
It’s going to be a long war. Strap in. Expect patriots to be attacked with all forms and methods of assault before it’s over. Imagine what the English said and did about those upstart colonists. No need to imagine, the history books from both sides record it.
I might be able to provide some context and, information on the process.
My husband has a small closed herd of beef cows. They are on pasture and Hay . They do get some corn, mostly just whats needed to encourage them to pay attention to what husband wants them to do (go through a gate, move to a new pasture, ect.
The youngsters only get a shot if they need it. ‘Closed Herd’ means we don’t bring in other cows.. As a result, they are exposed to fewer pathogens.
Taking an animal to the butcher. USDA rules: If I have sold the cut ,packaged and frozen meat to others in Half, whole or quarter quantities, then I do NOT need to have the USDA guy at that plant look at my animal as it comes in.
IF though, I plan on selling the cuts individually to anyone that visits my farm store and picks out a few packages from the freezer, then yes, that has to be certified that the USDA inspector looked and my cow and ascertained that it was able to walk in on its own and, had no obvious signs of illness.
This from my perspective is not burdensome, but, I have heard from a couple butcher shop owners that getting USDA Certified is a painful process. If they tic off too many things they don’t like, they’ll shut you down, at least untill those points are corrected. I don’t know all of what the requirements are, I know one is they observe the process used to put the animal down to validate that its humane and immediate.
This sentence I am having problems with:
“Miller does not want to use the regulated and required pharmaceutical antibiotics,”
I have never seen any push or requirement to TAKE antibiotics. The regulations though require that the animal be antibiotic FREE for x number of days or months. Perhaps that is in the context of milk testing.. not my area of expertise.
A few years ago one of our Bulls became lame. it was physical, not illness. I called the Butcher we used, he said if his USDA guy approved, he would buy the Bull(we didn’t have anyone lined up at the time). The Agent approved it, He was dispatched on our trailer which was the human thing to do as it was difficult for him to walk, The butcher called me later to tell me that it was the Bulls knees that had gone on him..
.
The whole USDA certification at the Butchers place of business is to make sure sick animals don’t make it into our food chain.
Does the USDA outlaw kosher and halal killings of animals? (slaughter of the animal , cutting their throat and drain their bloat while their heart must bet beating and fully alive) Yes they do… so stop your F* BS about the “USDA Certified is a painful process” …
Sick of those lies by people like you… the USDA killed more people a year then sustainable farming does. E-coli death in 2021 from USDA monitored farms ? be honest, USDA approved farming is a joke, they promote toxic farming , plants and animals. and in horrific conditions. some beyond barbaric. The horrors of USDA approved chicken & cows production is beyond sad, its criminal.
I posted information that comes from my experiances, period. It was not a treatist on the whole of the USDA. The Butchers we do business with put a bullet through the brain, or the ‘bolt gun’.
There are a great many things that are wrong in the industry of Factory Farming, the ones you mentioned disgust me as well. Oh and, maybe thats why we offer people an alternative..
you say ‘Sick of those lies by people like you…’ ? You read what I clearly stated was our family experiance and decided from that reading that I was a shill for all thats bad in the industry?
Theres plenty of things going on that justify rage… just be a little more selective as to your target!
I was about to jump in & say this was from osccam”s viewpoint & experience. Completely unnecessary for me to do so, since you eloquently did it yourself.
Don’t we also have other problems like the supply chain, transportation, fertilizer shortages, etc.
IMHAO, we have always had private sales of beef, pork, lamb, etc. As long as you’re selling it for private consumption, not in restaurants, not on the Internet (Amish??) or in the course of commerce across state lines, let the STATE deal with any outbreaks of bad farming incidents/habits.
A one size fits all doesn’t work. I’d much rather the USDA find a reason for stopping the CCP, Bill Gates, other elites & BIG Farming corporations from buying up our farmlands or stop Democrat governors like Gavin Newsome from saving a few little fishies with water needed for agriculture.
how does the kosher market work?
is it possible for Amish to become Rabbi or Rabbi to become Amish
If they slaughter/drain the blood of their animas while alive, yes… then its USDA proved.
It seems the more pain and suffering the animals experience the better… as along as the animal is loaded with antibiotic and vaccines. Its hard to raise healthy animals, and the USDA doesn’t care.
I have bought nutrient dense food from Amos Miller and trust HIM- NOT the criminal tyrants at USDA!
He’s been falsely accused of “causing Listeria”. I and other members of his Private Association don’t WANT USDA regulations imposed on him and we’ll be DAMNED if we’re gonna TOLERATE this EVIL COMMIE GUMMINT ABUSE!!
The USDA is unduly influenced by BIG AG just as the FDA is unduly influenced by BIG PHARMA! Bill Gates is buying up lots of Farmland all over the US and he’s a Eugenicist and Globalist!
I’m sure that prick would Love It if all Amish farmers were shut down by USDA so he could buy their land for Soylent Green operations!
I’m a supporter of the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund which has been reporting on this insane fiasco since it began in 2016!
I urge anyone who supports Amos Miller to donate to them and also to sign the Petition Rebel News has defending him!
Hi, Mr. Hammell. I just wanted to thank you for your first hand knowledge of the situation. That is ALWAYS the best description of the story. I have learned a LOT about Amish farming and USDA stuff from this whole article and replies to it, and seeing commentary from somebody actually involved is refreshing and helpful. I am more liberal then conservative, but I fully agree that what the Feds are doing here is serious over-reach. You and Mr. Miller have my support.
John how do we support Amos? I do not live in PA buy want to help.
I just signed the Rebel News Petition in support of Amos Miller and urge more people to sign! https://www.rebelnews.com/petition_leave_them_alone?recruiter_id=5646685
The Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund is in Amos Miller’s corner and has been since 2016 see their article about this tyrannical situation: https://www.farmtoconsumer.org/blog/2016/06/27/united-states-america-v-millers-organic-farm-amos-miller/
Everything they are doing was not only completely unregulated but completely legal for EVERYONE before WWII…
Why should we, as a society, tolerate this fascism?
Do you tolerate this fascism in the name of “safety” and “fear”? Afraid of getting sick from eating fresh food?
All of y’all who support ANY of this bureaucratic wickedness need to stop thinking with your emotions and start looking at the bigger picture, please.
You folks do realize these government agencies that are trying to imprison this innocent farmer and his wife are the same ones who have deliberately orchestrated a global food shortage at the behest of international bankers… right?
Choice… The only thing people need to do is disclose the process and let people choose.
Do I want to buy a sick frozen piece of chicken loaded with antibiotics, anti parasitic, hormones boosters, and a dozen shoot of anti viral cocktails grown in a 10″ by 10″ metal cage that is USDA approved, or choose a free range chicken that lived a good life without pumped with chemicals ?
“My chicken live on this 10 acres of land, as has not received any mRna vaccines or antibiotic. buyer beware!!!!!”
The FDA found genetically similar listeria in Mr. Miller’s raw milk samples. Two people were sickened from drinking raw milk and one died BUT was the milk from Mr. Miller’s cows?
What does ‘genetically similar” even mean? Listeria is listeria or it is another pathogen. The FDA apparently tested regular listeria and then compared the regular genome (30,000 pairs of proteins) with Mr. Millers listeria also having 30,000 base pairs and found it ‘similar’ to the listeria that caused a death.
What a crock of you know what and it has zero to do with ‘protecting’ the public as this is the same FDA that approved Pfizer etc for infants.
Isn’t the “new” thing on meat packaging, “NO antibiotics, EVER!!? Just sayin.
This guy is just what the gov is promoting. Total green. Energy independent. And they’re punishing him. Go figure.
They have been doing this for years. I knew a family, Marine did 4 tours in the ME, bought a farm thereafter. All solar and wind. Offered milk, pastured pigs, beef, chicken, etc. His local customers loved him.
He was compliant with all regs. Much of the attack was USDA being motivated by pink pig traditional farmers. The competition.
He met every requirement, but the hovt wanted their pound of flesh. Pretty much bankrupted him.
Horrible.
The issue is public vs private.
The Constitution is negative. It does not give out rights to the people. Instead, it protects individuals from the overreaching arm of government(s).
The court is attempting to infringe on the rights of individuals involved in their private affairs.
The private members of a club have chosen via a written agreement to hold no liability onto another for what they have freely chosen to do. Period.
In that setting, it’s none of the government’s business.
Geezz, that horse left the barn 80-some years ago. Read Wickard v. Filburn, 1940 I think. Anything that might conceivably influence anything moving in interstate commerce is as subject to government regulation as if you had actually sold it across a state line.
This is a totally wrong reading of the ‘Commerce Clause’ but it has been the reading since W. v. F.
https://sites.gsu.edu/us-constipedia/wickard-v-filburn-1942/
You can’t grow your own chicken feed on your own land to feed your own chickens. Because by NOT participating in the market for feed you are affecting the market for feed! By this pretzel logic ANYTHING you or DON”T do can be regulated.
Reagan should have gone after this right away but his administration got hijacked on many levels by Bushite RINOS who actually like ths. Every Republican candidate and especially those in ag states should have this on their list. OVERTURN WICKARD. It’s going to be used to throttle everybody who wants to grow their own food.
Iran is set to be the first country to roll out a food rationing scheme based on new biometric IDs. Where vaccine passports failed, food passports will now be eagerly accepted by hungry people who can’t afford rapidly inflating food prices. This is the realization of a longstanding agenda by the Rockefeller/UN/WEF crowd to, as Kissinger put it, “control food, and control people.” Christian breaks it down in this Ice Age Farmer broadcast.
Fed show up to a pacifist’s home with guns blazing…why? A show of force: “We have guns, and you don’t”. This is Mar-a-Lago in Central Pennsylvania.
BTW: Just wondering…I wonder if Amos has seen the “sudden, unexplained…” death of thousands of head of his un-vaxxed cattle. Just saying…
Freedom comes at a price. The administrative-security state exercises power over Americans that our founders never contemplated and to which most citizens did not knowingly consent. The members of this farmer’s private club have agreed to take on known and unknown risks to acquire goods from him that they value in a free exchange. That, in a free country, would be their right. Where I live, a goat farmer recently ceased selling milk, citing health regulations that make it economically infeasible to do so. Consequently, a quart of commercial goat milk fetches over $7.00. This suits the interests of large commercial dairies, but the benefit to consumers is far from clear.
When, as seems all but inevitable, the American economy topples under the weight of government’s dead hand, insane commitments to reducing carbon emissions, and the lust for power of small-minded men and women in commerce, government, and communications, we will desperately need the independent producers of goods and services that big business and their regulatory partners seek to extirpate.
If I was Mr. Miller, what I would do, is write up an Affidavit of Truth, and in it, I would make the claim that at no time would I commit any kind or amount of fraud, and would be bound by the pains and penalties of perjury if I did. And I would entreat the fake judge and everyone else involved to do the same thing, and have my signature witnessed by a Notary Public. Now, since the legal system is demonstrably proven to be based upon frauds of various kinds and cannot operate without them, would any other man or woman involved with this case be willing to co-sign that Affidavit? Of course not! They would be opening themselves up to all manner of troubles if they did so! And by them NOT be willing to sign it, then they are openly and notoriously admitting that they DO intend to commit some kind of fraud or other crime against me!! So the case would have to be dropped right then and there! Is this here too hard to see??
You are assuming that the PTB would play fair, which is a laughable assumption, Dolph.
I’m amazed that so many still can’t see the depths into which these minions and their demonic masters are willing to plunge, dragging as many of us as they can along.
Since this situation has moved into the legal arena now, let’s get a few facts on it squared away. The legal system was born out of fraud and is based upon fraud and requires many forms of fraud to operate. This is easily proved by reading my papers about the legal system. Namely, The Legal System Is Even WORSE Than Gambling!, The Holes In The Legal System, The Scam Of The Legal System, Any Person Subject To…, The Achilles’ Heel Of EVERYTHING In The Universe, Pulling The Teeth Out Of The Mouth Of The Legal System and several others. Most, if not all of my papers can be found in various places on the internet. To make the search easier, place quote marks around each title.
When enough people have been educated about how the legal system is the world’s biggest crime syndicate, they will stop supporting it by not participating in it, and it will starve to death, just as any other business will when no one buys its goods or services! Oh, you didn’t know that every courtroom in America is listed in Dun & Bradstreet because it is a revenue generating BUSINESS?!?! Well, now you know!!
This is nothing, it’s just a warm up to what’s to come. Watch, soon enough the typical person. Won’t be able to grow a personal garden, without the consent of the government. And only be allowed to grow what they tell you can grow. Here is a quote Kissinger said, back in 2012 if you control the oil, you can control the nations. If control the food, you can control the people. Hummm! So is that the evil plan.
Buyer beware.
Or be aware
It’s as much about the money as anything else. Do you really think the FDA gives a fat rats ass about the health of the population? Uh, NO! Big government- they’re not happy until you’re not happy.
