An interesting story promoted by Rebel News, highlights the plight of an Amish farmer who operates a private market club for his products. Because his crops, dairy and beef are not sold to the ‘general public,’ and only to those who are members of the private food club, Amos Miller contends he should not be subject to USDA regulations.
Miller’s organic farm operates on century old farming practices. His farm uses no electricity, no tractors, no diesel, no gasoline, and he produces exceptional all natural yields which people are willing to pay top dollar to purchase.
Additionally, because Mr. Miller doesn’t use chemical fertilizer or fuel, his farm has not been impacted by the increased costs that have hit industrial farms. He and his customers are completely unaffected by outside influence.
However, a federal judge ruled that despite his closed members-only market, he must have USDA inspectors for his beef and cattle slaughter processes. Miller does not want to use the regulated and required pharmaceutical antibiotics, and other regulatory processes required by the USDA. He now faces jail time and a $300,000 fine. [Rebel News Article]
While CTH is completely on the side of the Miller farm, it’s not fair to share this story without providing the alternative perspective from the side of the regulatory agencies.
(Via Lancaster Online) – […] “The United States submits that Mr. Miller’s continuing recalcitrance and flouting of the court’s orders requires a robust, more-coercive civil contempt sanction than previously imposed,” government attorneys wrote in its request filed in late July. “Specifically … the court should order him to be incarcerated until he has paid these sums that are long overdue.”
U.S. District Judge Edward G. Smith scheduled a hearing for Sept. 26 at the federal courthouse in Easton for Miller to show why he should not be jailed.
And the government wants Miller’s wife, Rebecca Miller, added as a defendant in the case because she is a co-owner of Miller’s Organic Farm. That will also be addressed at the hearing.
Miller — who has an attorney, but has been filing paperwork on his own — filed a response on Aug. 5 suggesting Smith and the government are “working in concert” in supposedly violating his rights. The filing seeks a stay of the proceedings and indicates Miller plans to appeal issues in which he contends the judge is wrong.
[…] Miller first came to the attention of federal authorities in 2016, when the Food and Drug Administration said it identified Listeria in samples of Miller’s raw milk; the agency found the Listeria to be genetically similar to the bacteria found in two people who developed listeriosis — one of whom died — after consuming raw milk.. It’s an interesting issue, specifically interesting because the members of the private food club are in a hold-harmless relationship with the Miller farm.
What do you think?

The tyranny of the Administrative State.
Trump announced them as enemy number one a few weeks ago. The result? An illegal FBI raid on Trump’s home in Florida.
…holding harm to the hold harmless.
It’s part of the “6 ways from Sunday”.
Yes it is. But that was after he called out the ineptitude of the “intelligence” agencies.
He’s made a much broader coalition of enemies with his plans to destroy the tyranny of the admin state brick by brick. Root, shaft, branches.
The Amish are screwed.
We are ALL Amish now.
Southwest Wisconsin is Amish territory. The geography is all 1000 foot hills, valleys, narrow plains, ridges, rivers, and streams. Small farms are a natural fit here, rather than the corporate megafarms of east Wisconsin, Iowa, etc. They are buying farms that come on the market for cash. They are industrious. They build furniture, cabinetry, small wood manufacturing plants within their farms, fully built sheds and tiny houses, all the trades so that they hire out their services when they can make time away from the farm, and the women run small bakeries, produce & dairy outlets, supply houses. They speak Low German to each other in addition to English.
And they are gobbling up farms and thriving here because they are having lots of children who work the farms.
My entire family is from the PA Amish area. No better people on Earth.
I’d much rather see the Amish buying up farm land than Greedy Gates or the CCP. The government has a bone to pick with all of us/ too many government employees and sycophants think they are our rulers.
“Yes, Master. No, Master. Tell us how low we can go, Master. Keep us on our knees, Master. Give us a kick if you please, Master. Give us a kick if you would!” From The King and I.
Thuc, you hit the mark dead on. These are competitors to the corporate farms’ inferior products, and the captured regulatory agencies will do all they can to make sure this does not continue. These attacks are by this fascist government on the behalf of their corporate “partners.” Mussolini would be creaming his jhodpurs if he saw this.
Good for them (although you realize that cash is usually a “pool” and will be paid back to the givers). I would much rather farmers own and work the land than “environmentalists” who buy it out of spite for their fellow man … so no one else can “ruin” it.
Here! Here!
The Amish know where to find strenght. Christianity knows all about persecution.
And probably Bill Gates wants his farm for vaccine production.
Gates is producing Fake meat all Synthetic bioengineered poison foods along with bugs he intends on humans to eat. Hes a World Economic Forum douchebag who doesnt want people to eat real beef, chicken, pork nothing organic just his Poison frankenfoods.
He’s a hypocrite, he’s addicted to real beef cheeseburgers. So he will continue to eat meat while selling frankenfoods to the masses.
Someone on this site published the truth about eating bugs. Their exoskeleton is made of chiton which our digestive system doesn’t break down. We can’t digest it. Cancer, parasites and other harmful organisms are attracted to the chiton. Just another demonic way to kill or harm humans. Start READING THE FOOD LABELS.
There it is. ^^^
With the millions of illegals coming across our borders, he has a lot of cheap help, don’t you think?
All parties are informed and willing to participate. Used to be called freedom.
It will be again.
I think it’s none of their business. I think they are tying to break this man to break all farmers outside their system – specifically the Amish. I believe they are threatening his wife as a way to extort him.
Does she have any say in how the business operates? I’m guessing no. Furthermore, there are probably dependent children so they know threatening his wife is a real threat.
Next if they jail them and they have minor children they will probably seek to remove them into the for-profit child-trafficking organization we call CPS.
I believe they should go to He double toothpicks.
What is that saying about ‘they came for xxx and I did nothing’ then, etc, etc?
Then I watched the Jews load into the box cars, and I did nothing. IDK, what will Americans rally around to end this tyranny? Some of us have already made our decisions. The results will be what they are.
If you have children, read “The Terrible Things” to them. It’s an allegory of the holocaust and easily understood by anyone. The forest animals with different attributes disappear one by one, taken away by the Terrible Things.
As someone who worked in a slaughter and packing plant for a large well Know company. Known for its hot dog song, and its in a well known movie with Sly.
USDA inspectors and our meat is safe because of their watchful EYE, LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.
Just because some guy in a WHITE COAT with a Badge is on duty don’t mean squat. Ever been in a kill facility and the slaughter and cut. Make the products that go in those cans. If you knew what is allowed to be in them and quantitly. LIKE RAT FECES, insects, etc etc. And more. Just because it was in plant with white coats. Its safe. This stuff is done fast and on a mass scale. ANd yea sure all those regs are followed, and no one one ever has slipped an inspector a fin.
ONe word Salmonella
Hows that working out for their great process and the O MY GOD IT MUST HAVE A STAMP or you can’t sell it.
show me the money.
“I think they are tying to break this man to break all farmers outside their system …”
This is exactly correct. The globalists who are the stakeholders of the international crony cartel corporate system want ALL food production under their control. The USDA has allowed itself to be refashioned as an agricultural Gestapo.
Small business is the enemy, been that way for awhile.
COVID lockdowns were a major attack on small biz. Walmart and Costco stayed open, Mom and Pop shut down.
That’s all I needed to see to realize that the objective was not pandemic containment.
Go and read “Everything I want to do is illegal” by Joel Salatin, it’s slightly darker but very relevant. Food regulations are the epitome of corporations in concert with the government. Very little is actually to protect the health of customers, and specifically to this situation if they have a hold harmless agreement the regulators should go away.
If someone did contact listeriosis as the article implies that could still legally go the route of negligence. Sounds like this farmer has more issues than just dealing with regulators though.
I second your recommendation of Joel Salatin.
Joel Salatin does a good job at breaking down all the different ways the govt. tries to destroy local community food independence/self sufficiency.
Targeting the Amish farmers and farmers that step outside the Big AG’s way of doing things is common place. Salatin has given some good discussions about vertical integration on the farm as well as zoning laws that make this difficult.
I created a video library years ago on another site about Joel Salatin and Polyface farms which included many farm tours and lectures on various topics.
On a side note…
Mark McAfee of Organic Pastures in California has some great lectures on Raw Milk and food safety.
Your both correct Joel Salatin is great. Here’s his video on YT.
Another good one:
Fascinating! Smart man.
When your crop isn’t yours to own, they win.
Your real property isn’t yours. You rent it from the property tax system.
Good to know, with all the purchases of properties by the Chinese.
Some property owners are more equal than others?
I was talking to a friend years ago, about paying my house off, and he says “that’s all well and good, but don’t think that you own that house. He says try not paying your property taxes, and you’ll see who owns that house.
We paid our home off, asked the bank for the Deed of Trust…hahaha they said: “We haven’t done that for years and years.”
Our attorney had to tell them to produce it. That was another bill.
When people pay off the mortgages that I hold, I have our attorney prepare a release of lien and record it in the county’s deed records. That legally nullifies the deed of trust. After the county clerk’s office has recorded the instrument, they mail the signed original of the ROL to the mortgagor. What is recorded at the county is what counts.
I personally hand over the original note and keep only a copy in their files. When I give them the note, I tell them that they are welcome to have a family celebration and burn the note to ashes.
Best speech on being a sucker:
I, for one, am tired to death of having to get the government’s permission to do much of our daily activity. Licensing and regulation at every level serves the government employment and lawyers, but not necessarily the people.
After working in retail a while, I came to the hypothesis that tax collection is the real reason it exists. I’m just a tax collector. This makes me tired, and angry.
We are told by the government, “these are the essential workers.
Licensing is nothing more than a means to control a profession. As a physician, this has never been more clear to me than it has been these last two and a half years. If I dare to treat CoVid patients with safe and effective medications like ivermectin and HCQ, I am reported to my licensing board which then can determine whether or not I am able to earn a living practicing medicine. Licensing is a government SCAM. I have never been more disgusted by my profession than I have during this “pandemic”. The FDA, CDC and NIH do NOT care about the health and welfare of the general public. They have been completely corrupted by Big Pharma and have contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans. The officials that allowed this to happen MUST be held accountable.
May God bless you and keep you! Thank you for posting here.
The fact that your eyes have been opened is worth more to you than any censure they may, if ever (!) get.
Thanks Doc for confirming what most of have already suspected/known!!
You and your fellow physicians are the reason that I use ivermectin from the ag supply store. There is no compelling reason for me to put my doctor’s license at risk by asking for an Rx for ivermectin tablets. He doesn’t ask me about taking a Covid vax, I don’t ask him about writing for ivermectin. We’re good.
I have just returned from visiting my family who live out of state. My max vaxxed daughter had Covid (yet again) and tested positive for several of those days. She chose to wear a mask and tried to maintain a 6′ distance, but not at my request. I wore no mask and had no issue with being near her. Between the horse paste and Vitamin D3 plus zinc and quercetin, I seem to have survived those several days in good shape.
I might ask my internist to order a vitamin D3 level at my next annual visit so I can use the number to try to adjust the amount I take. The rest of the ivermectin paste will go back into the cabinet until the next time I sense a reasonable risk.
Don’t forget that the govt. is serving Big Business, not you. Licensure is good for one thing: restriction admission to a free market – it is not for “health,” or “safety,” or any other such noble purpose. It is designed to manipulate free markets.
Why in the hell should someone have to have a license to cut hair, or apply cosmetics, or any countless number of other innocuous activities?
Leave the man alone! He’s not hurting a soul. And the people buying know it’s not USDA regulated. Get the government OUT of our lives. They are a menace to society.
This is their “test case”.
And how many people are killed by the USDA?
I worked on a Foodborne Illness practice group in a law firm for 8 years. We were defense and handled all the claims against corps designated as the food source for outbreaks. Most were e.Ecoli outbreaks (the spinach one; Nestle raw cookie dough, etc. Sometimes it was FDA, sometimes USDA that I was in contact with.
People died. Others didn’t, but wished they had as the on-going health issues were major.
No guarantees a regulated system is healthier.
How many are killed or maimed by FDA and CDC every year? Numbers would be off the chart if the data were accurate.
The approved food processors/producers have
also killed people with listeria, salmonella, e-coli etc. Unfortunately there are so many intentional bad actors that I’m concerned about totally demolishing an agency whose original purpose was to protect us from those bad actors. I don’t know where to draw the line or how to fix it. I do know that I like the idea of being in Farmer Miller’s group although I can’t claim to understand his objection to the citric I’m sure it’s legit.
ALL of the gov’t agencies are unelected, unaccountable, and have been weaponized against the people, and are working for the big businesses who pay to play. The “government” is a legalized mafia, and they do not PROTECT you. They sell their guns/power to whoever pays them. We don’t matter because they just take what they want from us. That’s why teachers hold parents in contempt, they work for the legalized mafia, which simply takes our money for them.
I understand but we need to try to restore or reform them to their original stated purpose vs throwing them away entirely. We can’t all know everything – we need infrastructure capable of evaluating threats and helping us to avoid or overcome. I am often entirely disgusted with them but occasionally I have found individuals really trying to make a difference and do the right thing from within. Often quite small differences but still a positive effort. I tend to agree with you because the evidence shows that they ALL tend to think the worst of us. The surveillance they commit tells us who has the criminal minds because most of us couldn’t even think of what they accuse. My take on it seems outdated in light of the trajectory of their behaviors but I view it that we need self defense knowledge against all the things that they think up.
Your point is well taken and caution Treepers about jumping on the bandwagon. This farmers raw milk kill two people and the feds issue is the Farmer refusal to use antimicrobial citric acid to sanitize the processing area.
Antimicrobial citric acid is a industry standard and not used on meat but as wash down for the area. The refusal to use is akin to not vaccinating for polo or measles.
And I would recommend trusting NO “vaccine” these days. If people are willing to assume the risk, it is their business. I would need to know more about this story. I know from experience very little in the newspapers is true, and much is omitted to serve agendas.
I just bought some raw milk yesterday from a dairy at my farmers market.
On the front is a label which says-“Raw milk. Not pasteurized and may contain organisms injurious to your health. ”
Best darn milk I have tasted since I was a kid.
It’s pricey. But I am familiar with the dairy. I haven’t had any of their milk since I moved 2 yrs ago. The dairy is located close to where I lived and they sold at local store
It is State inspected…each state has their own requirements. I believe some states ban the sell of raw milk.
Since I have started making my own butter…I am going to pick up some of their cream next week.
I remember all the ecoli, salmonella, etc. outbreaks that have happened throughout the years on items purchased at the grocery stores.
There are never any guarantees no matter where you buy from.
Your’s is the most informative entry on this thread. I have no knowledge of citric acid beyond it being derived from citrus crops. If so it would seem to qualify as an organic product, therefore acceptable on an organic farm.
You must work for the USDA because you keep posting the same thing over and over again. They know they’re buying raw milk. That’s truth in advertising. The rest is on them. Thats what self responsibility is all about.
Worth noting that quite a few of the patients in those blurbs were immunocompromised (cancer, autoimmune disorder, end stage renal disease, far advanced age).
I think you have made your point.
Can you prove that it was from the milk they didn’t live anywhere near Pennsylvania.
Young (especially boys) kids, dropping like flies… *unexpectedly* Don’t see gov’t going after this!!
I say Bulls41t! (Makes for good fertilizer)! Government has to touch EVERYTHING! And that is truly B.S.!
How did farmers and their customers survive before the USDA? Quite well, evidently, considering America as we came to know it was an agrarian society for a couple centuries at least. Comparatively, USDA is a recent development.
My family were farmers in Russia who escaped the Bolsheviks and continued their agrarian ways in the U.S. Very common story. Now the Bolsheviks are inside the gate again.
Stop taking money. Trade goods and call it gifting.
Why would that stop a tyrannical government?
No monetary transaction trail.

I stopped in a roadside bar near Lake Lure NC.The drinks and wine were gratis, donations were appreciated.
My parents traded work for work when it came to our dentist and doctors…when I was a kid. We didn’t have insurance-you paid the bill or like my parents the doctor put them on a payment plan.
We buy from Amish and Mennonite communities around us. In fact had corn on the cob tonight from them. I’d like to know how they discovered Miller’s farm operation. Did a non-Amish competitor fink on him? The Amish in particular lead quiet and very purposeful, productive lives based on their deeply held religious beliefs. This seems like an attack on their religious freedom but leave it to our government to tell everyone they know what’s best for us. Makes me sick!
They look for those they can make examples of. They take pleasure in that.
I think it’s called sadism.
It is called cruelty… and more generally, wickedness.
I buy from these Mennonite farmers. They are constantly being harassed by government inspectors trying to micromanage their operation and stopping them from selling their products (although their butcher shop is USDA).
https://yourfamilyfarmer.com/
The government should leave him the hell alone. Enough, Enough, ENOUGH!
Its clearly a violation of his religious practices and beliefs
How about every hunter who butchers their own, partly in the field, partly in the garage, carcass hanging next to the garden supply shelf, sharing portions within a circle of family and friends?
Oh they’ll be coming for that too. Expect hunting to be outlawed in the name of climate or equity or both.
Gosh ….. if that’s the case, what are all those tens of thousands of guys to do, who can hit an 8” circle at 800 yards ??? And what will those hundreds of thousands of less skilled but no less dedicated meat hunters do who do still routinely fill their tags and put meat on the table by dropping a bullet somewhere onto a 10×12” patch of hide inside of 300 yards? Dear me … how will they keep themselves occupied? How will they feed their families and bring deer jerky to their friends at work? We should mourn their potential inactivity and cultural dislocation.
…is someone is hiring 87,000 armed irs agent$ – and paying them – to target
someone sharing a cucumber, gourd, apple, or tomato from the garden with a friend or family?
[ per the article, look at the extreme fine and jail… hmmmm… and the govm’t. has no constraints on what it would miss spend to miss litigate….
while the honest people, in defense, are harmed with the duress, coercion by government (again)…. ]
The apparent ‘unity’ someone mentioned in a Jan 17, 2021 speech,
means coerced, forced, compliance of whatever idea.
(sounds like c c p style manipulation…not u.s. law. )
Someone suggested a workable solution (not that govmt. lawyers would concur)
Give to caesar what is caesars (coin, $).
Give to God what belongs to God. (via trade, barter, good neighbors, faith, good works etc. )
Mark 12:17

The amish practice a religion.
There is freedom of religion in u.s. law.
[ and under duress, and a year of coercion, recently some marines won in court, based on a religious exemption, to avoid being forced the gene therapy treatment (jab) by government.
As a deterrent to coercions, there should be considered a fine paid – by the government individuals (not paid by taxpayers) – that are applying the coercion(s) – to compensate for the govm’t. duress (for the sake of real “unity” (see Jan 17, 2021 speech). ; ) ]
imho
I do not know
Meanwhile there are illegals selling every kind of food imaginable on every corner in my town. They sell it off of carts and out of car trunks. No running water for washing, and no electricity for refrigeration. They never get hassled. I’m betting there are a lot more people sickened off those carts than from this farmer.
20 years ago while I attended community college, I was friendly with a classmate that sold home made breakfast burritos to students out of a cooler. I never bought one. Later my friend informed me she was on TB treatment. Since I don’t buy home made food from vendors.
I agree with your line of thinking that the gubment sticks its nose into to much of the US citizens business & it is a racket, just like much of what the gubment has been a allowed to do for some time.
Somewhere along the timeline between Presidents Lincoln & Wilson the gubment started to incrementally increase its sticking its nose into citizens business and it only got worse from there. Taxation, regulations & licensure on civilian activities began to become more & more common. It should not be that way, or if done, with Limitation as in “Limited Govt.”.
That is a big part of what needs to be repaired with our US gubment, all the way down to state & local levels.
BTW, I would also like to mention, just so you & everyone who may not know, would know…
The word, “Marine” or “Marines” , as in “US Marines”, being a “title” that was earned thru hard work & effort, is spelled with a Capital “M”. Just as in the title,” U.S. Marine Corps.”
Just sayin…
😉
P.S. – in addition, for those who did/do not know, there is no such thing as a “former” Marine.
Once a Marine, Always a Marine.
Semper Fidelis~!
🙂
It’s at the edge of my mind but I cannot recall the specific case involving the USDA and a farmer in the 30’s.
More of the gist, the farmer was ordered to destroy his wheat crop and refused as it was for personal use and not going to be sold on the market.
USDA made a claim of authority under the commerce clause using convoluted reasoning even though the crops never would have crossed a State line or be sold.
Wickard v Filburn
There’s a lot of stuff that went on during the Depression that was suppressed. Easy to do too, at the ranch there was the town newspaper when one went to town and, after electricity made it out there, the radio. Easily controlled propaganda.
The farm was nearly totally self-sufficient and the cash crop was table and juice grapes. I was mesmerized as a kid watching mom plow through an animal carcass and gut and filet fish like they were nothing. Masterhands at everything farm/wildland related. I think we had the only sulfur house and smoke house in the neighborhood. Imagine all the laws we broke, heh.
Amish are good people. I stand with them.
The Commerce Clause…which was bastardized from its inception.
The 18th century definition of the word “Regulate” was not what we idiots think of it today. It was to make commerce ‘regular’…to make it as easy as possible to conduct commerce across state lines…no exorbitant fees or taxes.
Had to do with FDR’s fascist/commie “quota” system for price controls of commodities (in this case, wheat). Has since been argued (erroneously) as a proof that the government has absolute power over buying and selling (commerce).
It’s an interesting issue, specifically interesting because the members of the private food club are in a hold-harmless relationship with the Miller farm.
What do you think?

Make Caveat Emptor Great Again!
[Per Wikipedia:] Caveat emptor, quia ignorare non debuit quod jus alienum emit (“Let a purchaser beware, for he ought not to be ignorant of the nature of the property which he is buying from another party.”)
A common way that information asymmetry between seller and buyer has been addressed is through a legally binding warranty, such as a guarantee of satisfaction.
[Since you never have “perfect government control,” you have to choose between too much or too little of it — and I think all of us here would choose the latter. EVERY political debate comes down to the simple choice, like here, between Soul- & Liberty-Destroying Collectivism and Soul- & Liberty-Enhancing Individualism, Self-Reliance, & Self-Responsibility. Which to me, is not even a choice …]

Thanks for the reminder:
From Wikipedia: Shakespeare’s exact line ”The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers,” was stated by Dick the Butcher in ”Henry VI,” Part II, Act IV, Scene II, Line 73.
Line 78 in my edition.
Reminds me of the Bundy Ranch situation…
Reminds me of how the FDA and a judge acted in The Dallas Buyers’ Club to prevent treating HIV with cheap alternatives not profitable to big pharma.
They don’t need regulated. It’s not mass produced.
This is Big Ag. The regulatory agencies do what what the big Cthulu companies want. See the NIH and CDC for an example…
Literally tyranny.
Regulatory capture is the term.
Point is to use the bureaucracy to stomp on the little guys. Barriers to entry, make cartels etc.
The govt perps are testing, weighing, and measuring how much “up with which we will put” before there’s an “incident” that they determine cannot be ignored.
So what’s next? Bambam cannot trade vegetables out of her garden for Mr. Smith’s chicken eggs or Mrs. Broussard’s figs?
Nope. It is already “illegal”….
I saw something similiar a few years back. I wish I could remember the farm. The guy was an organic farmer and also raised and slaughtered chickens. He would dress the chickens under a canopy at the top of a hill on his property. This allowed for plenty of ventilation.
The feds tried to shut him down for sanitary reasons. They didn’t like him cleaning the chickens in the open. His lawyer took bacteria samples from this guys slaughtering area and compared it to the commercial farms and there was no comparison. He won his case.
His was a membership farm and he said it was the only way he could compete against the big guys and make a living.
There are a lot of farms like the Miller’s and the guy I mention above out there that the feds, probably at the behest of the bigger players, try to shut down.
Micheal Pollan’s book.

Defund the USDA too.
Spatchcock the USDA.
That may be the most irresponsible thing I have read today.
Delegating your personal responsibility, your “food safety” and your individual Liberty to a group of people who are deliberately orchestrating a global food shortage and out-lawing effective medicines during a pandemic….
I would say that is more “irresponsible”.
I think I would not be surprised if George Soros and/or Bill Gates are somewhere in the picture.
“This gal gets it.” — Sen. Joe Manchin (CCP – WV)
An oligarchy, if you can keep it …
This is no different than covid vaccine mandates.
First the feds want to milk Mr. Miller’s cows, bank account and now, even Mrs. Miller!
Doesn’t the government have ANYTHING more pressing to do rather than harassing a productive member of society?
It’s the Biden’s government new mandate. Harass the productive and coddle the unproductive.
The Biden EPA are coming after all of the rain puddles, drain ditches, ponds and what have you. This started under the obama cabal.
I read one of the foodborne illness web sites fairly regularly and it’s shocking how many people are harmed and killed by dirty operations. “Raw milk” is one of the most dangerous products, and I see Amos Miller sells raw milk and cheese.
https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2021/06/organic-raw-farmer-found-in-contempt-by-federal-court-for-eastern-pennsylvania/
Selected excerpts:
Miller’s Organic Farm is associated with a private membership group of as many as 2,000 food buyers. The farm fulfills orders for unprocessed meat and unpasteurized, raw dairy products.
Miller previously agreed to use a federally inspected slaughterhouse to process his meat but stopped because he objected to its use of antimicrobial citric acid.
In 2015, the FDA found unpasteurized, raw milk produced by Miller’s Farm was responsible for two illnesses and one death. An outbreak strain of Listeria connected the cases.
Look at that. 2 illnesses and a death from Listeria.
If you want to know how bad a Listeria infection can be, read this: https://www.marlerblog.com/legal-cases/round-2-open-letter-to-the-leadership-at-fda-please-know-that-these-are-the-people-you-were-bound-to-protect/
And there are Listeria outbreaks in commercial operations all the time. In recent years a large ice cream producer, several Walmarts, and a major producer of chicken, turkey, egg salad off the top of my head.
People have every right to eat what they want and unpasteurized milk has way more nutritional value than the milk at the store. As for cheese, the most sought after French cheeses are not pastuerized.
It was Bluebell ice cream.
I bought raw milk yesterday from Dairy at farmers market. It has label on front with logo, web info and this statement.
“Raw milk. Not pasteurized and may contain organisms injurious to your health “.
Arizona does have inspections of our dairies.
Not all states do. And some states actually ban the sell of Raw Milk..if I remember correctly.
I am familiar with the dairy. It was close to where I lived before I moved. And the small country store carried their milk. They sell at my farmers market here!
Best tasting milk since I was a kid. It is pricey and higher fat content than store bought whole milk. They also have cream and I will be picking up some next week to make butter.
I think of all the ecoli, salmonella outbreaks- everything from Apple Cider to Spinach that were purchased from a grocery store. I am not concerned about drinking Raw milk.
I will still buy my Raw milk, honey, eggs and whatever food that is from local vendors.
It happens. Life is not guaranteed to be carefree.
Now please list all the articles about how many have died from government mandated/coerced vaccines.
Hint: it’s more than 2 people.
The government really isn’t in any position to punish this farmer when they are FAR more guilty of deaths by any number of methods especially when customers entered into a hold-harmless agreement.
According to the CDC: “Although the two illnesses occurred in 2014, the source of these illnesses wasn’t known until January 29, 2016, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration informed CDC that whole genome sequencing of Listeria bacteria from raw chocolate milk produced by Miller’s Organic Farm showed that it was closely related genetically to Listeria bacteria from the two ill people….”
So, the two cases didn’t show IDENTICAL Listeria bacteria. And there was a 2-year gap between the illnesses and the genome sequencing.
Do you trust the USDA and the CDC to be totally honest? Especially when there is a federal case involved?
Related genetically does not mean that much when bacteria can replicate in hours or even minutes.
How many generations of bacteria within 2 years?
Lousy evidence.
BINGO!
This CDC statement doesn’t make sense to me either.
First, I worked on a Foodborne Illness practice group in a law firm for years. Laws require state health agencies to report foodborne illnesses to CDC. Stool samples had to be sent to CDC. THEY did the genome sequencing test and ONLY CDC could designate if the patient’s foodborne illness was part of an outbreak. As you state, the sequencing had to be IDENTICAL. If it wasn’t, once in a blue moon they would designate it as a probable case. At NO TIME did FDA or USDA make any such determination. They aren’t the health agency.
I worked for 8 years on outbreaks, and to date, the largest foodborne illness settlement. This statement doesn’t make sense.
No. I don’t trust them.
The whole thing sounds sketchy.
Like the warnings about eggs and meats from govt regulated suppliers on restaurant menus.

BS!
I was raised on RAW MILK!!!!
My children were raised on RAW MILK!!!
WE hunt for RAW MILK but it’s so damn far away and expensive, which it absolutely STUPID! And the government is doing it on purpose so they can put chemicals in the milk and take out all the good vitamins and minerals in the raw milk.
It’s the government’s rules and regulations and chemicals in the foods that are killing people, making them sick and making them fat.
If people ate naturally grown food; life would be so much better, healthier, happier but that is not what government wants to do.
The damn government got involved in the farming industry in the 50’s because it was so damn lucrative and they sure as Hell would not want any farmers and families to get wealthy from the fruits of their labors…so they started to REGULATE and MAKE EVERYTHING FAIR AND SQUARE!!!
What a racket!!!
Nope…the real racket is dairies. Skim milk is water remaining after removing butterfats used to make ice cream and cheese. For diaries its waste, but packaged as a heathy drink.
The commercial dairies.
The small dairy I get Raw milk only sells milk in half gallon containers and pint size containers of cream.
Nothing else. That’s all they sell.
Now one of their daughters has married and her family has a farm of their own in the area.
They raise Angus and pigs.
I would venture a guess that any leftover milk they dont sell or milk by -products go into pig food. We called that —slopping the pigs…chuckle.
Wish I had enough freezer space to pre order one of their–whole pigs or Angus.
I go to PA every week to buy raw milk–it’s much healthier for you, but they don’t want you to know that. They want you to eat dead food.
It tastes better.
Once milk is Pasteurized it is Processed food.
I live in PA and often forget how fortunate we are to have raw milk. They have it at our local farmers market run by the Amish. I have thought about how fortunate we are to have the Amish in regard to covid. I believe that it’s thanks to them that we never had any crazy vaccine mandates here in spite of having a Democrat governor.
My neighbor’s daughter was born with spinal muscular atrophy. She outlived her prognosis by many, many years. I just ran into her mother at the supermarket last week. She told me that after her daughter ‘s initial visit to the hospital, she never went to the hospital again. They gave her raw goat milk from a local farm, and if she seemed to be getting sick, they gave her herbs rather than medication. The girl wasn’t supposed to live beyond a year or two. She lived to 21, graduated from high school, and was crowned homecoming queen.
I am very thankful we have our Amish here in PA.
Let me ask you this. Who owns that website ? Have you checked the source they give. Today I trust very few news outlets. I am so jaded it took me 6 months to quit checking Sundance.
That is a good link providing more detail than either news article.
After reading it over I believe there are several issues being conflated by the various sides.
The big one for me is that Amos Miller is selling his food nation-wide, through the internet, to non-coop members and there does not appear to be, in my opinion, sufficient information provided to those customers regarding his standards of food processing. If that is true, the issue of informed consent comes into play.
The second is that rather than being about the use of chemicals and antibiotics, the main concerns about the farm regard cleanliness, safe food processing, and safe food handling. Miller appears to be aware of this concerns, has agreed to address them, has local resources to do so, and for some reason has not.
My take is that Miller has the ability to continue farming using traditional methods while meeting existing safety standards and that he has chosen not to. If he and his customers decide to reject those standards, the customers should at least be aware of what they are purchasing.
Agree with your statement.
“the FDA found”. I bet they could “find” anything they want to and shut Farmer Miller’ operation down for as long as the FDA wanted. The idea that the FDA would plant listeria on a farm is not far fetched at all!
For years I had a milk cow. Milked her twice a day and processed my own milk. I used all dairy quality seamless stainless steal for milking and straining the milk. All my milk was raw.
Never had a problem. Never had such good milk either, before or after. All my leftover milk I fed back to my pigs and boy did they provide some awesome pork!
Lol my Grandmother in her 90’s does and always has drank raw milk. My Great Grandmother lived to 100 and drank raw milk with eggs and bacon everyday. Lol!
How many people are harmed by who/ cdc/nih/fda
eua authorized gene therapy treatments ( jab$)?
The list is getting very long….and much info is / was hidden…
and what has the government done about it ( other than coerce people to be jabbed )?
A host of people are reviewing the 50,000 page documents that a pharmaceutical wanted to hide from the public for 75 years. Here is an inkling:
https://rumble.com/v1gg9ym-dr.-wolf-the-cdcs-revamp-is-concerning-for-americans-due-to-push-towards-au.html
You sound like a shill for the government. You need to shill somewhere else.
The ADA would agree with you. Truthfully if more people regularly drank raw milk, particularly children, there wouldn’t be as much need for fillings, braces, or wisdom teeth removal. Saturated animal fats are needed for healthy jaw/bone formation. Raw milk is an excellent source of these animal fats. Diet is king in overall health.
Please stop reading and believing propaganda. The same people who publish these “statistics” are the same people deliberately crashing our economy, creating a gobal food shortage, out-lawing effective medicine during a pandemic and stealing elections.
Please just stop.
“If you steal our corn, we got nothing to feed the hogs. If we got nothing to feed the hogs, we got nothing to put in the smokehouse. If we got nothing to put in the smokehouse, we starve in the winter. That’s murder, isn’t it?”Newton Knight, Free State of Jones
It is robbery and murder. They will let us starve, rot in jail or die broke. That is the new world order if we do not soon wake up to our fate.
It seems like they’re planning a Stalin like purge.
Out: Stagflation.
In: Starveflation.
This could have an impact on anyone growing food and giving it to neighbors. It could have an impact on butcher shops that hang venison to age the meat for hunters.
I buy chicken which has packaging that says “No antibiotics”. Of course, I don’t know what else was given to the chickens, but I would think that meat that is just meat is the safest possible product to buy.
It’s an overreach of the Federal government, especially the fact that they want to add his wife to the suit.
He wasn’t giving food away, he was selling it. His “club” had 2000 members! See my comment above.
a few decades ago they stopped homemade cookies and cupcakes
for a child’s birthday celebration in the school classroom
only store bought goodies allowed
Back in my college days, a club held a bake sale on campus. All of the baked goods were homemade. Some jerk decided it would be funny to spike a chocolate cake with ExLax as an ingredient.
One of the persons who bought a piece of cake took the goodie home to her little brother. She did not know of the secret ingredient. Her 7 y/o brother landed in the ER with riproaring diarrhea and dehydration.
Not certain but I think there was a lawsuit. I don’t think homemade baked goods were too welcome after that.
In my employing school district, they banned student bake sales because the district geniuses signed a contract with a commercial food service to run our building cafeterias, and the pros refused to allow “competition”.
Because you can’t know the sanitation in the home the baked goods were made. I have made thousands of home visits for healthcare and the lack of cleanliness in many homes was astounding.
I think that it is possible that many seniors/disabled die from having to live in filth when they become unable.
I suspect that is due to allergies like peanut. Peanut oil used to be cheap, plentiful and tasty but I read somewhere that they started using it (as a “carrier”?) in childhood vaccines, thus creating peanut allergy. Then there’s the older students who think it’s funny to lace homemade creations with pot which apparently is now so altered and added to that people land in the hospital from it!
Of course its a federal agency thats in the middle of this. Everyone of his customers know his practices. That is why they are buying from him. The feds should make themselves useful and bust drug ,people traficking cartels. Protect our southern borders. Not pick on an honest man making an honest living.
They ARE protecting the southern border!
They’re protecting their drug and human trafficking cartel investment and income stream.
Duh!
this story exposes another government shakedown
He could rent them a share of his farm and plant the food for them and they could share in the harvest because they own the harvest and he is supplying the labor. His lawyer needs to get busy.
Can’t have an educated opinion unless one knows all the specifics of the “federally inspected” clause (cited in the article) for which the farmer is being targeted. For example, must butchering operations of less than, say, 10 cows per year, be “federally inspected”? Must butchering operations of a food club where members pay a certain price for one member to raise, slaughter, and butcher the beef, be “federally inspected”?
From the link Sundance provided:
Miller’s Organic Farm describes itself as a private club that sells only to members and Miller has claimed that arrangement exempted his farm from federal regulations. But that’s not the case. Smith ruled in 2019 that Miller must comply with United States Department of Agriculture regulations that require his slaughtering operations be federally inspected.
I agree.
While philosophically I am on the side of the “little guy” the information in the two articles is scant and clearly framed with opposing agendas.
Busy. busy bees over at fedCentral.

The government types never want anybody to escape their clutches; they just love their not so little monopolies. Just look at how hard they fight against home schooling, for example. It’s always a pernicious agenda behind these efforts, always.
I believe they will continue plotting against home schooling too. Whenever I see a story about an abused child who was “homeschooled!” (nobody from the government was watching and able to “keep him safe”), I have to remind myself of the media’s complicity in spreading fearporn about any tragic incident if needed to prop up our gestapo government.
As to the food issue, I just read about an outbreak of a “fast-spreading” e-coli in my state and I admit I was concerned. I’m not sure if I was more worried about getting e-coli or about the government using it as an excuse to lock us down again. After what happened with covid, I’ve gotten super-suspicious of every health-related alarm that I see.
when you get hunting license all the wild animals are FDA approved.. the gov is is playing with fire..
Two things , as a start ……..
How many recalls has this Amish farmer had ? — VS — How many recalls for USDA inspected food ops. ?
The ‘ powers that be ‘ are already spewing the next new narrative ….. YOU are too stupid to raise backyard chickens ( or anything else ) WE MUST REGULATE IT ALL !
See – Ice Age Farmer and others.
” A time such as has never been before ……. a measure of wheat for a penny “
Fallacy of your statement is not how many died but how many are fed. If it were not for meat processors and the illegals doing the work, there would be a lot more vegetarians. Large scale meat processing along with lower time getting a cow to slaughter lowers the price of meat and the reason USDA exist.
For sale from the farm and for consumption within the state.
F the Feds.
Anyone who has been involved with the raw milk “movement” (a surprisingly diverse and dedicated crowd) is familiar with this case and the tactics of the FDA/govt goons. Many people seek out raw milk as a remedy for a variety of chronic health issues after other medical interventions have failed them. Numerous books have been written on the perplexing and hysterical hostility of the government towards the consumption of non-pasteurized milk. Many of the tactics used against innocent and well-meaning farmers would be quite recognizable to the broader public these days. It has been going on for years.
U.S. District Judge Edward G. Smith scheduled a hearing for Sept. 26 at the federal courthouse in Easton for Miller to show why he should not be jailed.
Political party – Republican (RINO)
Appointed by – Barack Obama
Guilty until proven innocent.
Another shopped judge by the feds, IMHO.
…the fundamentally changed America way…
“Specifically … the court should order him to be incarcerated until he has paid these sums that are long overdue.”
So, now we have debtor’s prisons?
How on earth is a man who physically works his land supposed to be able to earn that money while sitting in jail?
I think it is as God intended, for the Amish. Our federal hubris knows no bounds.
There is some jerk out there in that area, who believes the Government knows all and the Amish Farmer is not “complying ” with government regulations….AND
They Snitched!!!!
Who is the damn Snitch! ????
I know the Amish and Mennonites; they do NOT bother anyone. They produce wonderful food and charge fairly for their goods and services. They have always been well respected and loved in any area in which I grew up and after I was married with family. I used to drive out to the farms and get wonderful products because I no longer had the privilege of living on a farm getting fresh milk, buttermilk, homemade butter..you name it..
I applaud this farmer and his family. And the Snitcher I pray will be sorely oppressed for this wrong-doing.
Keep fighting the corrupt fascists’!
Same sentiment, abigail! Same history with you! Family from the area.
It might not be a snitch, per se. There were two cases of Listeria. I’m sure that the CDC and FDA must have investigated the purchases of these two people and maybe this farmer was one from which they bought. But if they bought from him, they may have bought from some other enterprise. But those cases could have reverberated and brought in more inspection and oversight.
It sounds like the guerrilla buyers club portrayed in the movie Dallas Buyers Club. As we now know, Fauuci was using the government then to keep private parities from developing their own medical solutions. Faucci was already in 1988 carrying big pharmas water.
I would bet that this is a case of agency capture of the USDA by a corporate interest to maintain regulatory hurdles as a barrier of entry for their business.
Here is a link about the guerrilla buyers clubs Faucci shut down.

Change name to “Amos Millers Kosher Products” or “Amos Millers Halal Products”.
USDA then moves on.
According to a USDA inspector I knew, “kosher” and “halal” products were exempt from USDA inspection – even if processed in the same facility. He observed some serious issues with their product but was not allowed to do anything about it.
Apparently, the Amish have no such exemption.
Nearly all commercially sold kosher meat in the US is USDA inspected. Additionally, a significant portion of it is imported from Argentina and Uruguay – which defacto requires inspection by Customs.
farm uses
.
…..and produces exceptional all natural yields
He ought’a have his picture on every Whole Foods shopping bag and be given the Green New Deal Farmer of the Year award.
So , this ” GREEN ” farm with minimal carbon footprint is not the issue ……..
Kontrol is the issue.
Bacteria doesn’t care if food is green or large scale processed.
USDA is there to “Kontrol” bacteria.
Leave those people alone to live as they have always lived.
They want his land
That’s it in a nutshell.
