We are here because we discuss uncomfortable truths. We accept things as they are, and not as we would wish them to be.
Since the original innocuous tweet 48 hours ago, from a private account, which did not even use the name “Trump,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been absolutely silent about the illicit FBI raid on the home of Florida citizen and former President Donald J Trump. DeSantis is showing us all who he really is; but are you willing to accept it?

The raid on President Trump’s home is a moment for all to stand and take a position. On the day after the raid, much like the entire DC Decepticon establishment, Ron DeSantis hid in the bunker and kept quiet. No tweets. No appearances. Nothing that would create a situation where he would have to enter this ‘time of choosing.’ This is what politicians do. This is what Nikki Haley does. Avoiding controversy is not what war time leaders do.
On the second day after the raid, again with the politics of the issue as the dominating consideration, DeSantis releases a recording of a statement as Florida schools begin to open for the fall semester. Again, avoiding any situation where he would be asked to take a position on the raid. Please take note and pay attention. These are the moments that matter, the examples that show the true intents and motives of political leaders.
DeSantis is doing what he has been advised to do.
The silence of DeSantis is deafening.
DeSantis’ supporters, cheerleaders, GOPe promoters and sycophants will ignore it, but deep in their psyche they know what I am saying is true.
Ron DeSantis is a good governor for the state of Florida and has many attributes that make him important for a host of reasons, but this is not a war-time general. Ron DeSantis is a politician.
Accept things as they are, not as you would wish them to be. Because this is the same man that many people would select to face the greatest enemy to our republic. DeSantis is showing us right now that he does not possess the courage, desire in scale, or ability to fight the enemy we face in this battle.
DeSantis is a good finisher, a good maintainer, a good and solid ally who operates well when surrounded by the fortune of an aligned legislative body; but he is not yet the weapon that can stop the corrupt UniParty enemy within our republic.
There are moments that show the character of the politicians in the club apparatus. The pathetic and embarrassing Ted Cruz speech at the 2016 RNC nominating convention was one of those moments. The response, or lack thereof, to an illegitimate FBI raid on the personal home of the leader of the republican party is yet another.
Accept things as they are, you will be far less disappointed later on.

I’ve posted this many times. This is not the resume of someone who works against the uniparty. This resume is considered the perfect uniparty resume – see Cotton, Kerry, etc.
He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. DeSantis joined the United States Navy in 2004, where he was promoted to lieutenant before serving as an advisor to SEAL Team One and being deployed to Iraq in 2007.
yes, very true!
“DeSantis joined the United States Navy in 2004, where he was promoted to lieutenant before serving as an advisor to SEAL Team One and being deployed to Iraq in 2007.”
Dastardly!
He took candy off of one of his children and threw it away. All because the child dropped it what an axxxxx.
Dirtbag Dan Crenshaw has a sparkling resume..
Would you vote for him too?
He was deployed as a lawyer after Harvard Law. The only people who do that are aiming for Senator and hoping for president. It’s a way to get cred with the voters always has been see Al Gore, John Kerry, Tom Cotton, Dan Crenshaw, etc. etc.
Thanks. Didn’t know that.
Don’t forget Boot edge edge.
Looks similar resume of One-Eyed McCain of Texas.
Not buying it.
he condemned it right from the get go. More than most of the rest did.
“More than most of the rest did.”
Thats not saying much.
“This is library!”
–Yuri’s demoralization rankings of US News & World Report’s Top 15 US Colleges
#1 Harvard
“Harvard is always at the top of any college list. [..] The admissions office openly discriminates against Asians by giving them lower “personality scores” to compensate for their superior test scores, which is now being reviewed by the Supreme Court. The majority of its students are legacies, athletes, or “under-represented” minorities. [..]
“Alums include Barack Obama, Al Gore, Chuck Schumer, John Roberts, Katanji Brown Jackson (what is a woman?), Admiral Dr. Rachel Levine (supposedly a woman), Bill Gates (dropout), Mark Zuckerberg (dropout), Sheryl Sandberg, The Unabomber, Jared Kushner, Matt Damon, Michelle Wu, Rochelle Walensky, and Joy Reid.
All communists
I’m actually shocked by Joy Reid – she’s dumb as a box of rocks.
I’ve always had the sense that Ron Desantis is only imitating DJT. His whole persona changed when he became Governor.
I remember one time I saw him I thought he was mocking President Trump.
Me too
My comments are not discussing motives just stating known facts regarding what is absolutely necessary for our President.
DeSantis has worked for Florida’s and the people’s needs. Addressing many pressing and obvious problems. However, President Trump has many years gaining knowledge of the business world and the many world leaders. He has creds that not many others have. Other world leaders respect and trust him. He treats them with the same dignity that he would want. Just think of that historic moment when he crossed into North Korea showing no fear and smiled and shook Kim’s hand. That leader beamed. He’s strong, honest brave and shows compassion. And above all else he loves God and America and each and every one of us. Everyone is treated as an American and NOT a member of a subgroup. I can’t think of anyone else who can pull us out of this ginormous hole.
Neither can anyone think of anyone else because there is not another somebody.
👊👊👊👊
I know you guys like Trump. I can understand this view of DeSantis.
That being said, Trump made the worst personnel decisions of any President in our lifetime. He caved on Covid… the death toll from the lock downs and vaccines will be in the 10s of millions before it is all over and there is nothing stoping them from doing it again.
What evidence do you have that Trump, who will be 77 if he takes office in 2024, will do any better than he did the first time? He had a bunch of great ideas in 2016.. most hit the cutting room floor. Those that were put in place were like writing on a lake.
If Trump wins the nomination I’ll vote for the man, no doubt. If DeSantis wins, he gets my vote too. But we are all professionals here, we know we are past the point of saving our collective asses in the ballot box. Some say the Dems are getting desperate… I think they behave like a party that knows they will retain power, no matter what the voters say.
So relax, don’t trash either of our potential nominees. Join a campaign, talk to your friends, write some letters, join a prayer group, buy a gun, plant a garden, get off the grid, get on your knees.
All better than spouting off on another damn blog and hoping that a single politician will lead us out of this crisis.
It is getting very late in the West.
if PDJT falls, so does every other weaker candidate alive.
removing PDJT disarms us of our legal chance to get a Representative – to maintain the current government.
he Represents us. he fights for us.
minimizing PDJT alerts us to someone trying to disarm us.
I stopped reading your comment when you attributed “10s of millions of deaths” to President Trump.
I took notice when you twisted his words. “will” is an important part of what he states. You can ignore reality but not the consequences of reality. The clotshot regime is 100% reality and to ignore what it entails leaves one without the proper knowledge base to make the most important decisions bearing on the future of a human race.
Trump is an elderly man raised in the Cold War world of the 1950s.
He believes in America and American patriotism. Start there.
This wonderful, sweet man thought the Democrats would work with him for the good of America.
So we’ve crossed that Rubicon. Trump was no revolutionary. DeSantis, based on his resume, is no revolutionary. But the revolutionary must come. The counter-revolution to save/restore the American Dream must come.
If the establishment found Trump too much an outlier to bear, they will be appalled by what comes next.
But the splendid ideal of American liberal democracy must be defended. Amen.
Bad times create strong men.
Bad times also has a way of seperating the wheat from the chaffe.
I don’t believe for a second he thought the dems would work with him. Trump has been the sober guy at the party for decades – he’s been planning this for a long time.
The sainted Rush Limbaugh said Trump told him, early in 2017, that he thought the Democrats would work with him. Even the snake Reince Priebus, who was present, was a skeptic.
You don’t understand politics if you say Trump was no revolutionary.
I don’t think I’d refer to DJT as an elderly man. I’m going to be 83 in a few months still working my garden trees and running my 42 year old glass company and I’d not take it well to be called elderly! Besides President Trump never drank alcohol, smoked or took drugs. That makes a huge difference in your body’s aging process. Besides that as with myself your mental outlook and determination and God’s grace gives you strength that a lot of people cannot match. Born with a defective heart has not made me quit just the opposite. As with President Trump adversity increases his tenacity. God bless this man
Billy – gotuckyourself in then … DeSantis showed his true colors- JV quarterback at best. I dont care if DJT is 77, 87, or 207 – Its Trump or its over. Go rest in the west.
We like our footballer here in Florida. He’s up for re-election in November. Damn you all who feel so outraged by your perceived threat to Trump.
Trumps a big boy. Very Big.
Florida ain’t no Georgia. DeSantis needs to win this fall. Quit blasting our gov!!
Then Little Ronnie needs to actually win his re-election ON HIS OWN THIS TIME Kathy instead of needing JTWO TRUMP RALLIES to drag him over the finish line against a closet drug user.
You sound like a rabid liberal.
Name a state other the Florida that has a 21 + billion surplus ?
WTF is responsible for
That ?
Trolls have infected this place tonight and it’s very clear who they are and this comment thread is full of them.
FO
I absolutely hope he remains Gov of FL, he’s been somewhat successful running one state with a R legislature. Maybe he will even beat another drug addicted Jerry Sadler-esque commie on his own this time. Oh, and the last time UF v. UGA – it didn’t turn out to well for UF.
Schedule F executive order. Signed just before Trump left office.
https://www.axios.com/2022/07/22/trump-2025-radical-plan-second-term
Trump understands the mistakes. He’s been vetting folks in preparation for firing thousands on day one. First term was about learning what he didn’t know. Second will be about exploiting what he learned.
Maybe he can’t pull it off. But who else will try?
There is scuttle butt of a list of over 200.000 people being made ready to implement schedule F on day one.
Nobody else has the guts for this – we all know that.
“I didn’t know the RINOs when I went to Washington, I know them now.” – PT
Gaetz, Desantis, Paul, Gibbs, Massie…many alternates to choose from.
Anyone that exposes RINOs works for me.
They all announce themselves, knowingly or unknowingly.
“In many ways a bad RINO is worse then a Democrat because you don’t know where they’re coming from.” – PT
You said, “I think they behave like a party that knows they will retain power, no matter what the voters say”.
I agree . . . there is this smug air of entitlement. Just like leading up to 2016 election. Hillary no where to be found leading up for months and on election night the HUGE delay in calling the race. They acted as if the cat was in the bag then and they couldn’t believe she lost.
Same thing with 2020, Biden no where to be found and “somehow” he won.
Democrats are good at one thing, deception.
But my gut tells me also that President Trump learned alot during his term and knows their games better. He was already a man that worked several steps in advance of others.
Can’t say that I like some of your comments, but I do like hearing honest opinions to broaden my perspective and give me more to consider. It’s so refreshing. Thanks for posting.
Millions of Americans and people around the world have been “red pilled ” to the dastardly club polititians thanks to out VSGPOTUS, Donald J. Trump. President Trump has been such a positive force. The list of his great accomplishments is extensive and may rattle your cage.
It’s sad because we all know that DeSantis would have rejoined the private sector by now because he was a virtual unknown until Trump endorsed him. And boy was that a good endorsement. Considering Gillium and his shenanigans, the people of Florida dodged a bullet. I’m not really pleased with the treatment that the R party is giving Trump. They like his popularity, but they don’t like the character. They don’t realize that it is Trump that got those judges, as imperfect as they are and every other institutional victory that we’ve had. I’m not really sold on DeSantis right now.
The people of Florida are very sold on DeSantis as Governor. After Nov 2022 and his re-election, by all means wax and wane over whether he’s trustworthy for president (IF TRUMP DOESNT RUN).
Florida thanks you for your understanding.
OMG you are so right. Gillium! Good grief what an awful mess. Florida was truly lucky.
FBI prosecuted Gillum for campaign finance fraud. He’s been yelling, “this is not a legal prosecution, it’s a political prosecution”…to anyone that will listen.
Gillum once praised the FBI for the Russia Hoax, just like the nevertrump controlled opposition, aka “Zelensky democrats”.
The 24/7 gas lighting is losing it’s public appeal because people are developing pattern recognition faster. Repetition of a propaganda narrative loses it’s effectiveness.
The “character character character” narrative was tried in 2016. The black messiah character beat the blm mormon character with less votes, then he beat the war hero character. Identity politics? YMMV.
The last thing the Uniparty wants is a landslide. It makes it harder to cheat and easier to expose fraud. RINOs are the left’s defeat mechanism. Their job is to demoralize, divide, and distract conservatives when republican insurgents attempt to unseat them. My opinion only.
https://coloradorecount.com/
I believe I read somewhere that DeSantis has introduced/supported legislation very recently under which agents of the government (specifically the FBI) can be arrested on site in the state of Florida. I will research and put the link in another post when I find it.
Meanwhile, here is the link from DeSantis’ twitter post 8/8/2022:
That’s his personal account not his governor account and that is what is disturbing.
more lawyer advice. advised to not use the official account.
or his actual choice
But what you have just described is the difference between a Warrior and a Politician.
“ I will research and put the link in another post when I find it.”
When you do find it, could you please be so kind as to forward it to Governor DeSantis.
I saw that on the_donald and it was fake news, CNN never tweeted that story.
It was FL Rep Anthony Sabatini (running for Congress this year) that called for special session and introducing that legislation. Sabatini doesn’t mince words.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/08/08/republican-anthony-sabatini-calls-florida-legislature-sever-ties-doj-immediately/
That is Sabbatini that introduced the legislation. Let’s see how far that gets.
Pretty freaking sad, I was hoping he would stand tall and he did not
BRAVO!!!!! My husband has been saying this to me constantly since news of the raid first surfaced.
OK, I’ll bite.
Most people around here know I’m as pro-Trump as it gets. I’d take a bullet for the man. And I mean that.
But Ron DeSantis is one of those other fighters. He’s been the best governor in the country. Is he perfect? Hell no.
But to help facilitate a rift here does not seem wise to me.
Hopefully this is just Sundance issuing a warning shot to DeSantis’ people, who do follow his work.
Is he really the best governor in the country or the best PR? Serious question. Kemp who really sucks opened up GA before FL and DeSantis called it reckless. Abbott who sucks actually sent buses of illegals to blue cities while DeSantis just talked about it.
People said Kristi Noem was great because SD was never locked down, but she didn’t have a choice. She just has good PR. She’s pure RINO.
DeSantis says a lot of things but does he follow through? He demanded the law to fine any business asking for proof of vaxx and then never enforced it against the cruise lines.
I’ve seen him do things other would not dare do like take on Disney, a huge employer in his state. That speaks volumes to me.
Yes DeSantis has been bold in many respects. He fired the coward of Broward and Brenda Snipes right out of the gate. He recently fired the Tampa non-prosecutor. He took on Disney. His administration took a lot of bold actions during covid, no matter what criticism people want to lob at him.
Was DeSantis perfect during covid? No, but who was. He and his team acted early to get PPE and ventilators, you didn’t hear boo hoo stories from Florida. They saw the need early on for a place for seniors between the hospital and back in the ALF or nursing home. They contracted out places for those seniors instead of sending covid positive patients into homes to infect the other seniors.
Florida had lots of testing centers. The state got rapid tests into senior facilities as soon as they became available. No matter how you feel about the vaccine the state had a pretty good roll out, most vulnerable first, but by mid to late March everyone could get a vaccine if they wanted it. He saw the issue with spin cycles with PCR tests and acted, ditto setting up monoclonal antibody centers.
It’s true he slow rolled opening certain businesses for a few weeks compared to Georgia, but all in all I thought he really grew and came into his own during covid. Sort of Baptism by fire.
I think his issue right now is consultants. He’s up for reelection and doesn’t want to alienate people. Sure he may have his eye on the WH, but he’s smart enough to know he has to win reelection decisively to even entertain a WH run in 2024 (which I doubt) or in 2028.
Consultants like milque toast candidates. Governor DeSantis, you used to read here and post back in the day. You’re not milque toast, just say no to the consultants.
Suspension and replacement of DA refusing to enforce the law. Actions backing up words. But he has his legislative body supporting him. So to use a metaphor DeDantis is great management but not a trailblazing entrepreneur. Any organization needs both.
Florida kids got to go to school while others were shut up at home.
That’s big.
He’s done a LOT of good things that no other State Govs have done.
I sure as h*ll wouldn’t trade him for any other Gov. out there.
Who is this Absolutely. Perfect . Governor. that you are hinting at?
The cruise lines took him to court and won.
I’m a Floridian and I’m damn glad DeSantis is my Governor instead of Gillum. He has my vote for Governor.
As far as how he’s reacted to the raid, on the surface it certainly doesn’t look strong. We don’t know what, if anything, may be happening behind the scenes. I found the use of his personal Twitter odd, was it political? Or was it for legal reasons? Time will tell.
Personally, I think the country needs Trump’s business prowess given the mess Biden has made. I just hope next time we hear more of his signature “You’re Fired”.
DeSantis is fine in Tallahassee. He’ll grow more in a second term.
Yes DeSantis is the best Governor in the country, Floridians are very lucky lucky to have him.
Sundance specifically says to be open to accepting an ugly truth about any politician. No matter how “America first” they might appear. Given where we are at in society now and what we should have learned because of covid how can ANYONE argue against that thought? The devil is always in the details…
Pay attention and people will always show you who they really are!
PS…Lin Wood has been railing against DeSantis for awhile now. Calls him an ear tickler. I doubted his take on Ron at first, but Sundance has confirmed the suspicions raised by those daring to point out obvious connections most of us don’t want to admit are there.
Lin Wood? How can anyone take him seriously anymore?
People who listened to Lin Wood and did not vote in GA for that Senate race. They could have overwhelmed the polls and chose to listen to the grift.
Maybe the same people buying MTG’s merch.
Wood is a total nut job.
You do realize that Gov DeSantis has fought for freedom regarding vax, masks, early treatments, etc.?
His push back against all things Disney, LGBTQ+, critical race theory, etc has been noted and very much appreciated.
Is he Trump and off the cuff ready to rumble? No one does that like Trump. But as I said upstream- damned if he’s not FLORIDA’s very needed and appreciated governor. He must win his re-election in NOV.
The narrative is mind boggling. But, ya, what else is new in this upside down, hard to find the truth era.
OK
YEP
I was alive when all of you raved about W.
The last place I would go for advice is the comment section of any republican blog.
I think it important to remember the extraordinary Temptations that accompany being considered for the presidency. A few times here I have posted explaining that I think only two people have really been fully tried in The Crucible of the swamp. Donald trump, of course, is the first, and the most proven leader. The only other person who has been so immersed in the swamp and yet remained clean, is Devin Nunes. If not for Mike Rogers and Devin Nunes, it is probably that Trump would have been removed from office by impeachment
I have previously mentioned Nunez as the best person to follow Trump, the Deep state will not be destroyed in a short time, probably not in a single presidential term of office. And we have not seen everything that the Deep State can do yet. The raid on Mar-A-Lago was intended to intimidate, but let it serve us as a warning. They think they are strong, and obviously do not fear the elections of this November.
To me, that can only mean that they feel certain the November election will be even more thoroughly fraudulent than was the 2020 election.
So, I don’t know if it will matter who we think should follow Trump, I only know for sure that it must be someone we are absolutely confident of, not in terms of their competence, but in terms of their commitment. DeSantis has been weak in this. It might not mean that he has been corrupted, but if not it means he has been cowed.
As Sundance mentioned, DeSantis is “surrounded by the fortune of an aligned legislative body” making his job a whole lot easier. Good on Florida for voting for legislators that are strong and fight for them. You can’t tell me that doesn’t make a WORLD of difference when you are in charge. Huge difference there.
I appreciate Sundance for pointing out what is glaring right in our faces that we don’t want to see; but must. I don’t see anyone else pointing this out, anywhere.
I agree with Lulu. The most important thing DeSantis should have done from the get go is speak out against the cheat machines; radio silence. I never was on the DeSantis bandwagon and never will be. Another wolf in sheep’s clothing.
If you lived in Florida you would want him to win his re-election this Nov.
I live in Florida & I love Ron de Santis – his Monoclonal Antibody Clinic probably saved my life, last August, because I sure as hell wasn’t going to Hospital.
People can say what they like, but they aren’t always right either. I am keeping an open mind on him.
I love PDJT too, he should be the 2024 Nominee.
i wouldn’t be worried about Ron De Santis – what about Turtle, if we win the Senate in November.
What did he say?
Thank you for your measured approach. He’s been great for Florida, on many accounts. Always an open mind- healthy and wise.
I’m with you – i think thelastrefuge2 account showed how Governor DeSantis can return a warrior from this.
This is Sundances blog and he has freedom to express his views in his articles. If a “rift” is created among readers, then so be it. We had the same “rift” in the Treehouse when PDJT’s AG Jeff Sessions chickened out from investigating the Russian Collusion garbage and recused himself. I
IMHO Sundance has been a careful observer of politician’s actions to establish their track record before opining about them.
This is about political courage and real spine in the face of the genuine enemy.
This raid was a serious violation of national principles that have been upheld through other situations where high profile politicians – even POTUS and cabinet officials – have been determined to be in violation of some obscure or minor law. Hillary violated major classified material laws but wasn’t raided.
And the FBI’s malfeasance occurred in Florida. As governor of that state, and in concert with his purported MAGA advocacy, DeSantis’ silence is a blatant critical failure to stand up for what is right and just.
I hear you, but I also recognize that until VERY recently Sundance and his team regularly posted Ron DeSantis’ press conferences when he took on some part of the corrupt opposition. So much so that it gave me the sense that Sundance was bragging about his own governor.
Yes. I agree with the points made in those articles. I believe that has been Sundance highlighting the correct actions a 10th Amendment state governor should take when faced with federal unconstitutional heavy-handedness (totalitarianism) and the correct way to deal with a biased and corrupt media when they are being asinine (as normal).
Relying on my memory (always risky), I cannot recall our Host endorsing the Florida governor for president in 2024. In fact, I believe Sundance previously made a very pointed case that, currently, President Trump is the ONLY true-MAGA candidate that is suited for the presidency in 2024.
There was a lengthy volley back and forth (at the time) regarding whether Sessions was a good guy or a weasel. People on CTH debated that one for quite awhile. Feelings were very entrenched.
There have been some strong politicians in my lifetime. Over time I feel greater numbers of them have been increasingly corrupted.
I acknowledge that DeSantis has made some excellent decisions for Florida.
However, I don’t think he is seasoned or strong enough to wrestle with the swamp.
Trump may not be a young warrior. However, he is a brawler when it comes to the relentless battles — now full on war — that the administrative state has embroiled him (and us) in.
He chose “us” over comfort and self preservation. He sure as hell put his ass on the line “bigly” for the people in this country. He has greatly suffered for it.
I won’t even consider the thought of a second choice.
We need to fight for him.
Don’t even entertain the possibility he won’t be able to run.
Pray.
Support.
Fight —for him like he fights for us!
I agree, Lorrie.
You got it, Bari.
Completely agree, this attack is just stupid.
I agree Eric. Feel same way about Trump, but also as a Floridian, I’m very pro DeSantis (he was my Rep before he became the best Gov. in the country). He’s no RINO.
Our country needs both men. I hope DeSantis does the right thing, better late than never. I plan on sending him my thoughts tomorrow, fwiw.
Agree. Sometimes the best response is no response. Ron DeSantis made his comment, just as many other Republicans. To the point, I don’t need him grandstanding on this. I’ve always been leary of the first out the gate mouthy ones, rattling off just so they can be heard and to get their name in the news.
The rifters post on here with their ‘concern ‘ and demean President Trump while touting DeSantis.
This silence from DeSantis indicates that he is not ready to take on the evil which has decended on America.
You are no pro-Trump-take-the-bullet type of a guy.
If you understood Trump you would know that Trump is the last best hope for the country for at least the next 30 years until a new Trump/Reagan/Perot figure emerges.
However, there’s only 1 perfect candidate and that’s always yourself.
Conservatives have “always” eaten their young or have always been their own worst enemy. This comment/article is a very good example of one.
What’s telling to me is I’m seeing a whole bunch of new names supporting DeSantis. I’m not talking regular names that like him.
New names that seem to be here only to promote DeSantis and his political career. Interesting? I wonder if that’s a big tell that the GOP is supporting DeSantis to try and take down Trump in a splitter strategy?
Where are you from Lulu? I’m thinking not Florida.
It’s one thing to be cautious about ANY government leader. It would be a shame to try to disparage all the incredible work that DeSantis has done for Florida.
He’s no Trump – no one is. But I’ll be darned if we should throw him under the bus as he’s very needed to win his re-election this November.
I hope he wins re-election if FL. That doesn’t negate the influx of probably paid posters supporting the splitter strategy the GOP already has going.
I’ve been reading CTH since the Trayvon days. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a conspiracy theorist appear to suggest that “I’m seeing a lot of new names here supporting xyz.” It’s a blatant leftist-like attempt to shut down debate and make those in disagreement with SD/the majority appear to have some dark, hidden agenda. It’s so freaking tiresome.
No one is saying he’s not a great governor. He’s just showing he’s not a great leader.
He isnt willing to fight for America. he is holding his line within Florida.
and at this point in time – we need some Kari Lake Energy from a few state Governors. – and this was a perfect time for him to knock it out the park.
I’m happy someone is making it their business to take care of Florida’s business.
Me too, $20 Billion Surplus a good job by RDS – this all seems very weird – time to get off here, I think.
I actually moved from NY State, to Arizona & then Florida in 5 months to get to a State that had a good Conservative Governor.
His leadership in Florida has been stellar.
It could be what you suggest, or it could just be that DeSantis hired a publicist who uses online influencers.
Or it could be regular folks who hold opinions different form the 100% PTrump is the only way to go crowd. That makes them nothing more than sovereign individuals with a mind of their own weighing the doubts and sureties they have witnessed themselves. That apparently deserves an FUD attack from you to be supported by other collectivists and strongarm accusatory tactics..
When they are new names who make post after post that sound like the DeSantis campaign wrote it and in addition are leaving derogatory posts about Sundance – I smell GOPe.
Get off it, will you? Not everyone whose name you don’t recognize is some dark actor from the other side. Give it a damned rest.
I think you are the one with the problem. I’ve been civil, and am expressing my personal observations/assessments. You are the only one I see attacking a poster personally and using inappropriate language.
I’m a regular here and I live in Florida, we love DeSantis, I don’t know of a single person who don’t. Hell even my neighbors who voted for Biden said they were going to vote for DeSantis because he works for Floridians. They appreciate all he has done for their family.
I’m not a regular here – I drop in from time to time & just happened to come today & RDS is my Governor.
We dodged a yuge bullet when De Santis was elected by a whisker. He’s been a great governor for the most part.
But… I’m afraid I agree with Sundance’s assessment.
This happened right under your nose, Ron.
Prove me wrong.
yep,
we would have been dead if Florida would have fell.
the point is the blink. i dont see anywhere in the article that says Governor Desantis is gone, or worthless, etc… in fact on thelastrefuge2 twitter he references the King in Braveheart that befriended Braveheart – indicating a mistake can breed future courage.
I know too little about too much too far away to say with certainty that DeSantis isn’t for real on the side of liberty, based on the perceived shortcoming of not being loudly vocal about one event where only one reaction seems acceptable to our side. Not all fighters fight the same; team members often dislike each other intensely for reasons only they know but on the field they have a common enemy. It’s far too early to categorize the governor as just another RINO; his record as governor belies such a conclusion. Remember it would have been a much further leap to have envisioned a pre-political Donald Trump becoming the savior of the nation than a Ron DeSantis now; yet Trump went from a self-aggrandizing, womanizing egotist to the closest thing to Thomas Jefferson we’ve ever seen. Let the Trump/DeSantis dynamic play itself out–either one is still the best choice we can see for the Republic. There are other interpretations to be seen from the tea leaves of DeSantis’s reaction to Mar-a-Lago being invaded, but in the end they are all conjecture and Florida–where Trump lives–remains the best place to live in the nation. The actions that created that reality speaks a lot louder to me than words as yet unspoken.

President Trump is a tough, smart negotiator who loves America and Americans. He has seen it all and has the fortitude to not back down.
One would think that the governor of the state that experienced the illicit raid would show more outrage about it than he has.
I think SD is correct here and DeSantis’ silence is indicative. He is not a MAGA warrior. I can see why though. To be MAGA you must *not* be a politician by career. Trump isn’t. Kari Lake isn’t. Lauren Boebert isn’t. Sarah Palin, despite having been a governor, isn’t. These are people who “do something else” but only go into politics to serve, or fight, and then get out and back to their lives and families – or at least be willing to.
Politicians who are such by career cannot be MAGA warriors. MAGA doesn’t work inside the system and to be MAGA you will not get the support of the system and you will not be able to sustain yourself as a politician. You are wholly different.
For DeSsntis to go strong MAGA on this would be like you or me leaving your career and life’s calling to do something completely different, and likely dangerous. It would be heroic for DeSantis to permanently “leave his job” to do something different and dangerous, but I don’t think you can expect it.
Maybe a politician *should* go into his career prepared to give it up to “go to war” especially if the Constitution you swear to protect is at stake. However, I don’t think a politician will know to do anything other than fight as a politician, from within the system.
A realistic viewpoint.
We have plenty of GOPe politicians……….that is what MAGA is fighting this war against………..we don’t need a sleeper cell pretending to be MAGA when he is a GOPe.
PS To my earlier comment:
I also emailed DeSantis and let him know I would not be attending any rallies for the candidates I support where he is present.
Really? That was a slap in the face to all the DeSantis lovers on here, including me!
Sundance said,
“Ron DeSantis is a good governor for the state of Florida”!!!!
And on election day Sundance will tell us to vote for the Republican because,”at least they are not a communist ”.
Good advice..
Well, I do find his silence interesting.
I agree that we need a pit bull to attack the Globalists, and I don’t know that Mr. DeSantis is it.
Seems like Mr. Trump is the Indispensable Man.
May God bless and keep him.
love our true president donald trump and trust him as he is MAGA but desantis and his silence proves he is not maga but tries to be better than so many governors thank you sundance for your insight and sharing it with we deplorables
If Trump is not on the ballot in 2024 I’m not voting. If it’s DeSantis I’ll tear up the ballot.
You are a fool. A major problem among conservatives is that they fail to realize that the perfect is the enemy of the good. DeSantis is not perfect, but neither is Trump (who spent most of his life as a businessman who contributed mostly to Democrats. He did a lot of good in 4 years despite some awful personnel decisions stemming from his desire to be loved. He is a narcissist (not a malignant one like Obama), and he trusted people who were out to screw him. I would gladly vote for either
Exactly! Ron is still young in the political experience department. Give him time to mature like Trump had to mature through everything the fourth branch of government through at him. Desantis hasn’t faced anything remotely close to what PJT had to endure. Ronnie is just a rookie. Who knows yet how he matures. Iron sharpens iron.
“If it’s DeSantis I’ll tear up the ballot.”
Good Thinking,
Or maybe not?
Governor Gavin Newsom wants to make California’s values the future of our nation.
He has his eye on the white house.
I would like to get rid of my governor , but ….
I hope you change your mind
Who do you want to see run for President, Sundance?
check the daily Presidential Thread.
Great idea he’d get my vote if trump dose not run i say Sundance
Desantis is a good governor for Florida but he signed the red flag bill and that tells you he’s a politician first and foremost. I’m a Florida native resident and Desantis is definitely the best governor we’ve had in my 54 years but we have unconstitutional red flag laws , waiting periods and no constitutional carry.
Trump banned bump stocks and voiced support for red flag laws so I guess they’re even. Remember when Trump said “take the guns first, due process comes later”? Weirdly it was Mitch McTurtle that saved us and refused to bring red flag laws to the floor until he just caved back in July of this year.
My opinion of Desantis has changed.
An interesting perspective on DeSantis and Trump:

https://www.theepochtimes.com/governor-desantis-the-raid-on-trump-and-the-rule-of-law-part-ii_4654045.html
Many posters, I think, miss Sundance’s point. In short, these are not normal times, we are essentially in a cold civil war, and at such a time a leader must be in the front, and not disappear.
Think of what Biden did. It is no longer the Republic we knew – we are living under despotism.
Its not clear why this blogger is so dead set against Ron DeSantis. Do you think that Trump is the only person on the Right who can stand up and fight for America? Who else is there? Kari Lake? Wake up.
Go away
First day?
We are aware of the circumstances. Yet Gov. DeSantis is not ready to stand out against the “club’.
DeSantis going to AZ to support Lake and Masters. I saw that before reading here, my first thought when I saw this story it was weird.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/08/turning-point-action-host-unite-win-rally-az-fl-gov-ron-desantis-trump-endorsed-kari-lake-trump-endorsed-blake-masters-august-14th/
I my be misunderstanding your question, but are you saying it’s weird for DeSantis to go support Lake and Masters in AZ?
Cuz I don’t think that’s weird At.All.
Of. Course. he should go support a potential GREAT Gov., etc. of another State.
It’s not like there are many. He needs other Govs. and State reps. who can get this country back on track. It’s pretty lonely out there right now.
The ONLY way to get this country back on track is to get excellent STATE leaders. F*ck the Federal Gov. They are not going to get you anywhere if your State is weak.
It’d be weird if he was going to GA. to support Kemp, but AZ. ? No way! Great move!
Good Govs of the U.S. UNITE!
Look at the poster. He has top billing and is huge. Then it says special guests Kari Lake and Blake Masters. They are trying to build Ron’s national recognition for 2024. He isn’t doing this just to promote the candidates.
Also, people wildly love Kari and some of the other candidates…they are the draw, but the false narrative after this huge rally will be that Ron drew the crowds and has the same support as Trump. Then Faux News watchers will believe them and that is how they hope to shape the narrative to replace Trump. It’s like their push polls to shape public opinion.
In August, DeSantis is going out to campaign with the Turning Point Trump endorsed candidates. I certainly hope he doesn’t think he can improve his image after President Trump has done all of the hard work with the rallies for them. Surely he doesn’t think he can use this to displace President Trump in 2024. If so, he has been very poorly advised.
He does.
Just because a bunch of half-wit Americans are clamoring “DeSantis 2024”, it does NOT mean that he plans to run.
Gawd. People are really running away w/ this BS.
“DeSantis is going out to campaign with the Turning Point Trump endorsed candidates.”
That was pre-attack ………. not sure those candidates want him on the same platform.
He is quickly becoming persona-non-grata.
I tend to think Eric in a prior comment as the right bead on this. This post may just be a warning shot at DeSantis to get off his ass and be more vocal or risk losing MAGA support later as a sellout.
The thing DeSantis is missing here is that let’s say he runs in 2024 and somehow overcomes all the fraud and wins. He then becomes a principle target of the FBI and DOJ which will wage a relentless civil war against him just like they did with Trump. They will fabricate crimes. They will fabricate evidence. They will falsify search warrants with federal judges knowing those judges are corrupt, too. It will be all out war.
DeSantis loses NOTHING by coming out and saying “Disband the FBI. Arrest and prosecute anyone involved in this raid on President Trump. Gut the DOJ and fire Merrick Garland. And, time permitting, impeach and remove the Biden/Harris regime for corruption.” And I think I can safely say that a LOT of the American public had their eyes opened this week about the flat-out dictatorship that the secret police at the FBI represent. The FBI is only pleasing the friends it has already made and is acting on behalf of. They’ve made a lot of new enemies this week, though.
That is the unforced error here. Yes, he made a “tweet” from his private account. But Ron DeSantis is governor of one of America’s largest states. What he says Officially, Publicly, MATTERS.
And I can think of no better statement at this point than “disband the FBI, arrest those involved in this raid, fire and prosecute Christopher Wray for Official Corruption, and remove the regime from power.”
That’s an agenda I would wager 70% of America would get behind at this point.
Good post. Very good.
An official statement is not as weak-kneed and carries more weight. Like Sundance just said, we have to accept things as they are and not as we would wish them to be.
And if it is true DeSantis assisted in the feds, who’s to say he was threatened by the thugs not saying it’s right, but might explain his subdued response
Governor DeSantis used his personal account to make a statement and that’s no good? These same crybabies would be claiming he was trying to hide behind his office with his statement if it came from his state account.
The more I read DeSantis’ statement, the stronger it appears. Kari Lake’s was a Donald Trump caliber statement and makes anyone else look tongue tied.
I want to hear President Trump’s reaction to Governor DeSantis’ statement. Many, many people here will look stupid if President Trump relates that Governor DeSantis offered to help and President Trump turned him down.
for some reason I always smelled a rat with DeSantis
for a few reasons
He had a golden opportunity to prove me wrong
and really elevate himself to being behind doing the right thing
and like the Rat he is he scurried away quietly…
I don’t want to hear anymore Ron the Rat for president talk..
another sell out loser only out for himself like the rest of them.
I missed the part where PTrump gave his blessing to dissing DeSantis. It appears they were allies from my POV?
Could someone please list the elected Republicans at state or national level who have gone public with as strong or stronger response to the MAL raid than DeSantis? (We all know about Kari Lake.)
(This is not to disparage Sundance’s article, just to get some more facts on the table.)
Several members of Congress have called for the FBI to be bulldozed. Dan Bishop (R-NC), Paul Gosar (R-AZ). We can snort at McCarthy’s statement, but he called the FBI’s actions blatantly political and the DOJ and FBI would receive oversight from Congress. That’s an actionable threat which does carry weight. Calling it a banana republic (DeSantis) might be true, but he doesn’t actually call for anything to be DONE about it.
As I said above, DeSantis’ best move here is to call for the FBI to be disbanded, Wray arrested and prosecuted for corruption, and Garland to be impeached and removed by Congress for corruption as well. The Political Class will laugh at this, but the average American would probably say “hell yes, and it’s about time”. The fact that he hasn’t…is concerning.
Thanks Hokkoda.
Go back through a few pages of comments and someone has listed them all.
Thanks. I’ll go back and look for it.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/sen-marco-rubio-targeted-fbi-raid-president-trumps-home
In a series of tweets and video statements,
Rubio also suggested the FBI raid during Biden’s presidency against a potential political opponent in 2024 is akin to what the world has seen
“many times from 3rd world Marxist dictatorships” but never before in the U.S.
Thanks, Leik.
Nobody is infallible and to view otherwise makes us susceptible to manipulation. That said, I’m not losing sleep over a few words said (or not said) in a tweet. I’ll continue to judge Trump, DeSantis and everyone else mainly by their actions.
Would he have been told about this beforehand? Maybe that is why he is quiet. He might be asked if he was told and he might not want to answer. Not an excuse, but just thinking of a REASON.
It also could be DeSantis got word of what was shaping up, notified President Trump immediately and President Trump told him there was nothing Gov DeSantis could do. Of course, now he would be considered a low life for not trying to stop it. My guess is as good as any other here but I don’t start blaming anyone until facts come out. I need to look closer at old Westerns. I’m sure I’ll see many treepers trying to stretch people’s necks without a trial.
DeSantis was at ground zero……… he had operational state control ….. the ball was in his court and he muffed it…… “guessing” all day won’t change the facts.
We DO NOT KNOW at this point if Governor DeSantis knew or didn’t know ahead of time about the raid.
We DO NOT KNOW at this point if Governor DeSantis notified President Trump and offered help.
Governor DeSantis being at “operational state control” doesn’t tell us the answers. He may have or not have been doing what President Trump suggested. When you don’t KNOW … all you can do is guess.
Here we go again … eating our own. Yup … there can’t possibly be a legitimate reason why DeSantis is mum on the subject. We are all mind readers. Of course the Republican hating trolls here are multi orgasmic.
Here we go again…….. yup, that is for sure ……… a GOPe pretending to be MAGA …… there is a whole line of those folks…… just look at the 5 states involved in the 2020 fraudulent election led by the GOPe traitors.
Thank goodness, President Trump has a knack of pulling them out into the sunlight.
You have a knack for being wrong.
Florida loves DeSantis. He is very much desired to win re-election in November. If you lived here you would know that.
Let’s debate 2024 after the mid terms.
Expressing a different opinion does not make one a hating troll but making such an accusation is akin to how the left tries to insult us Trump supporters with their derogatory labels.
There are trolls active in these threads. When I name names come back to me then with your lectures.
Long time reader, first time contributor here:
August 8 was a pivotal date for all of us. For me and my family, it was also the first year anniversary of our arrival in Florida from the GPNW.
During out first year here, I have watched our new Governor display political instincts that have been seemingly flawless. Additionally, I have watched him exhibit values that are solidly conservative (I think that I have also discerned that the man works from a foundation of real religious conviction). So, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least for a bit.
I really appreciate Sundance, and the folks that frequent the Treehouse. That said, even though it’s damned tempting, I would caution our community to resist using quick pejoratives. For all our sakes I hope Ron De Santis proves to be something that is rare on the earth: A politician committed to being a public servant.
We pray that the man is surrounded by wise advisers and based on what we have seen over the past year, those prayers are being answered in a pretty big way. As to the Governor’s silence this week, I’ll just say this; can you imagine the stakes at play? I wonder if his primary calculation may have to do with leading his State – in the true Federalist sense – in its fight against a lawless, murderous, fascist administration. I don’t think it is an overstatement to say that other states could be looking to Florida as the tip of the spear.
Alas, given our times, I am aware (all too aware) that my optimism about the man may be misplaced.
But at least I’m no longer in Seattle!
Desantis sided with the democrat / GOPe coup in physically attacking President Trump.
Nothing more to see.
End of story and end of his sleeper cell status……..he is out in the open as another never-trumpster.
Good for MAGA, bad for him.
Physically attacking President Trump?
You people are insane.
He’s been a **great** Gov. The only good Gov. I’ve had – ever.
I moved out here fr/ trash bin Seattle, too. But I’ve lived all over the US, and never had a Gov. that even came close.
He’s working for the people of Florida. Period.
That’s where his focus is. And I think that’s a GOOD thing.
Welcome to ya’ll! I too escaped the PNW this year, you made the right choice. God bless you and your family, and you have a family here too.
Me too!
Romney 2.0
Oh Lordy.
Did you live in Mass. when Romney was Gov.?
Never heard about what a smashing good Gov. Romney was fr/ friends in Mass.
My family did. I tried to warn people about him in the GOP caucus (WA didn’t have a R primary that year for some reason) but they spouted Fox talking points like parrots “he is most electable.” I tried to convince them that wasn’t even close to being true but alas…
Thank you for this. I’ve always had my suspicions. My feeling has always been when friends and family mention DeSantis as their choice rather than Trump because of all the controversy, I tell them I don’t trust the sadness. I don’t trust him to fight the establishment. That’s what I’ve always said. And people think I’m crazy. Sometimes perhaps always, you need to trust your intuition. I think you put it well great governor good finisher a good ally but certainly not a Donald Trump.
Simply put: He’s a politician. He sees that change is coming and he wants to keep his options open to ride that wave to higher office down the road. It’s the same with Manchin. But he also wants to hedge his bets that the status quo will maintain itself and stay in their good graces, hence his milquetoast non-response. This should permanently dis-spell any notions that this guy can carry the MAGA flag in lieu of Trump.
He’s carrying the MAGA flag for Florida.
I’m good with that.
Deeds are more important than words. I’m thinking DeSantis is a walk softly and carry a big stick guy. He didn’t telegraph his move before he took out the Tampa Soros prosecutor; he studied it quietly, perhaps even secretly, and when he was sure he could legally do it, he pulled the trigger. As I recall, something similar happened with taking away Groomer World’s property tax haven; when they had the votes in the legislature, they did it quickly with little fanfare. I would be looking for something similar here.
I don’t know what he is going to do, because a state governor’s options for moves against the federal government are limited (that’s what 1861-1865 was about), but he’s going to do something and it will be significant.
“but he’s going to do something ”
Sure, that young man at the food mall saw the treat and took action…….. people’s lives were saved……
Desantis had the ball in his court and he muffed it………because he is a GOPe.
End of story.
So the next chapter is dem governor NIKKI Fried.
Your comments are beyond stupid.
Thank you.
For whatever reason, a lot of people here love the Show Time Antics of the more out-there politicians.
Fine, whatever.
But sometimes it’s the people working quietly in the background who get sh*t done.
Studied it quietly. Well put.
I don’t know, you guys. DeSantis has been so solid on many things so far. I grant there’s reason for doubt of his tenacity, based on the fairly mild reaction to an absolute outrage, but I will wait and see DeSantis’s next few moves before I decide if he’s not a fighter.
I just received this email from Ron DeSantis. It was signed with his name, but it is a fund-raising letter essentially. I will quote it below:
Certainly a strongly worded letter that mcconnnnnnellll and mccarrrrrty would be proud of…………President Trump, not so much.
Thanks for posting this. What stands out for me from this email is DeSantis thinks his role is to point the finger at Congress to stop the abuse of power. Has he heard of the 10th Amendment which essentally gives him more power than Congress to fix this?
Florida Rep Sabatini has it right — the Governor and Florida legislature need to kick the FBI out of the state.
Someone earlier said DeSantis has headed for the tall grass to wait this out. “Stand with me.” I don’t want to stand with him in the tall grass. I want DeSantis to answer our questions — did Florida participate in the raid? I keep hearing that Florida law enforcement were there. If true, then either he should be firing people or he authorized it –which is it?
The more I ponder, the more right Sundance seems. It was not a raid against Mar-a-Lago, it was a raid against a a mercilessly persecuted former president and 2024 presidential front runner.
This is no different than the RNC. Using this injustice against Trump to garner political contributions. Makes me sick.
I have never wavered. PDJT is the man to run this country…period. And the more Fox News and other media scum push DeSantis, the more I know I’m right.
Warning duly noted, but it seems a bit paranoid. People have different personalities and ways of processing information. And there are many factors at play that the public is unaware of.
To have an unguarded reflex response can do long term harm. It will always be microanalyzed, parsed to death and hang out there for political enemies to use.
Many others also have been circumspect and are waiting for further facts.
Perfection is an ideal that will never be realized fully. Pragmatically, one has to be more patient and opportunistic
“Pragmatically, one has to be more patient and opportunistic”
Duly noted. /s
Any Republican who does not speak out against this outrage should be shamed as a coward–including DeSantis.
And after speaking out, then what. Many are condemning Desantis but I don’t see the American people making any effort to
protest this raid. Maybe Desantis is a straw man for our own inaction.
I believe there have been 1776’ers at the Hoover building as well as the D.C. jail this week but most people don’t know or care about that. Americans are busy making a better life for themselves.
This period of months following the convoys and protests and being an overpass patriot have taught me a lot about American’s priorities. I accept that. Free will, thank God. Just stay off my lawn.
The FACT that Governor DeSantis did speak out and you don’t know it explains why Popeye kicked your ass from here to Eternity, 7 days a week.
Sorry.
I am fine with DeSantis staying out of Swamp Sh*t as much as possible.
He has a State to run, and he’s doing an excellent job at that.
I am not “dissatisfied” with his response to the Trump mess. I like Kari Lake’s statement, and I like DeSantis’ statement, too.
The less my State Gov. gets mixed up with that DC cesspool, the better.
“Sorry.”
Noted.
The problem is the DC cesspool does not stay in DC. And if Florida law enforcement was indeed seen with the FBI durng the raid then Florida may already be mixed up with the DC cesspool.
That city , Palm Beach, is a Dem city.
We are quickly approaching the point where you can’t kick the can any further down the line.
If DeSantis comes through with meaningful actions instead of screaming into the ether, will you accept him?
Good question! haha.
Many here will look like loudmouthed fools.
One thing that sticks in my my mind is that De Santis attended a GOPe conference somewhere (??? Island/Beach) where RINO’s and GOPe only types, gather.
i.e. Nikki Haley, Crenshaw et.al.
Will someone please correct me or give me the name of this GOPe only exclusive conference/meeting!
Sea Island Georgia. They met in 2016 and 2022 to stop Trump, but I don’t recall de Santis ever being there.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/03/07/the-professionally-republican-gather-at-sea-island-again-strategizing-2022-plans-to-thwart-political-challenge-to-dc-power/
That’s the one!
Thank you very much!
I’ll reread it now (and save the link)!
I think the name I was trying to remember was Stefanick.
Wow! If DeSantis is not a governor we should support, then who we should? Trump for Governor also?
Apparently! Trump FOR EVERYTHING OR BURN IT ALL DOWN.
Great points, Sundance. As much as I like what DeSantis has done, he is an ambitious politician first and foremost. And it’s troubling that he won’t take a firm stand. He made quite a show taking down an AG yet he can’t articulate some righteous anger over what the FBI did in his own state to a former president? Makes him look duplicitous. He can join Miz Lindsey and Nimrata Randhawa on the fence.
There is no one person to lead us out of this crap. Anyone who thinks there is needs to get a grip. All of this 2024 BS needs to stop. We are in trouble right freaking now. Have people not noticed we are about to be crushed? Our government is going to come down so hard upon us, and people are upset about for whom he or she will vote in 2024. We may not even have a country.
All of this is a distraction. This raid took the IRS agents off of all of our radars. They are giving us a shiny object while they go full Fascist.
Should DeSantis sell merch like MTG? Maybe appear on Tucker?
There’s only one solution for all of this, but the mere mention of it sends people into spasms, so I won’t mention it.
Trump gave us lockdowns with the EA that is still in place.
People can have all of the spasms he or she can have. This fact does not change.
In the meantime, focus upon the State in which you live People. We are losing.
Trump never ordered a lockdown of civilian businesses. Yes, he went along with the “two weeks to stop the spread” lie that the Drs. were pushing but he never ordered a single person to lockdown their business or to wear a mask.
