We are here because we discuss uncomfortable truths. We accept things as they are, and not as we would wish them to be.
Since the original innocuous tweet 48 hours ago, from a private account, which did not even use the name “Trump,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been absolutely silent about the illicit FBI raid on the home of Florida citizen and former President Donald J Trump. DeSantis is showing us all who he really is; but are you willing to accept it?
The raid on President Trump’s home is a moment for all to stand and take a position. On the day after the raid, much like the entire DC Decepticon establishment, Ron DeSantis hid in the bunker and kept quiet. No tweets. No appearances. Nothing that would create a situation where he would have to enter this ‘time of choosing.’ This is what politicians do. This is what Nikki Haley does. Avoiding controversy is not what war time leaders do.
On the second day after the raid, again with the politics of the issue as the dominating consideration, DeSantis releases a recording of a statement as Florida schools begin to open for the fall semester. Again, avoiding any situation where he would be asked to take a position on the raid. Please take note and pay attention. These are the moments that matter, the examples that show the true intents and motives of political leaders.
DeSantis is doing what he has been advised to do.
The silence of DeSantis is deafening.
DeSantis’ supporters, cheerleaders, GOPe promoters and sycophants will ignore it, but deep in their psyche they know what I am saying is true.
Ron DeSantis is a good governor for the state of Florida and has many attributes that make him important for a host of reasons, but this is not a war-time general. Ron DeSantis is a politician.
Accept things as they are, not as you would wish them to be. Because this is the same man that many people would select to face the greatest enemy to our republic. DeSantis is showing us right now that he does not possess the courage, desire in scale, or ability to fight the enemy we face in this battle.
DeSantis is a good finisher, a good maintainer, a good and solid ally who operates well when surrounded by the fortune of an aligned legislative body; but he is not yet the weapon that can stop the corrupt UniParty enemy within our republic.
There are moments that show the character of the politicians in the club apparatus. The pathetic and embarrassing Ted Cruz speech at the 2016 RNC nominating convention was one of those moments. The response, or lack thereof, to an illegitimate FBI raid on the personal home of the leader of the republican party is yet another.
Accept things as they are, you will be far less disappointed later on.
what did we expect him to do?
Not be just another self serving politician? Stand up for what’s right and not give a milquetoast, RINO sound byte? Even Marco Rubio had a stronger response.
oh pulease.
Echo Kari Lake, for starters.
I agree with your statement and would raise the standard since she is a gubernatorial candidate; he is a governor, He should be leading the pack, not pulling up the rear.
Her comment was STRONG!
kayjay, read back through the comments. There are lots of suggestions of what he should have said.
A single weak tweet issued from his personal twitter account with no mention of Trump’s name is unacceptable. He apparently forgot where he got his voting base from.
At minimum, if my governor, fuggetabout it, Brown is an unmentionable expletive, but anyway…
Recite the facts…. did his state and local law enforcement cooperate with the FBI or not, and his reasoning in that matter. What role his office has in the matter of a search warrant being served upon a citizen, and past POTUS, of his state.
And then add any opinion he has on the matter as governor of his state; the chief executive of the citizenry, every last one of them a potential target of Feds after the innocent, as they’ve proven to be time and time again.
Don’t baffle us with bullshyte. That’s an insult. Don’t play the lawyer wordsmith card. That’s condescending. Keep it simple and direct. True intelligence is defined by the ability to explain complex concepts and realities in means and terms easily comprehended by the common man and woman. Regale us with such examples.
Over and out.
For anyone who has followed KL’s campaign from the start (I have, and am praying she is my next Governor) simply ask;
“WWKLD”,..(What Would Kari Lake Do) if SHE had been Governor.
I have posted previously that as “THE MAGA governor, Desantis has actually been VERY timid in using his authority to combat the anti-MAGA forces.
He COULD have relatively easily and in short order DESTROYED the plandemic, and without directly confronting the jab as the poison it is.
More broadly, he could be using aggressive Federalism to challenge the UnConstitutional usurpation of Authority by the regulatory buerocracy, and strip it OF that authority through court suits.
Give him head to head competition for the title of “Americas MAGA Gov”, and he will fold like a cheap suit, or rise to the challenge.
The “Unite to WIN” rallys, in Az, Ohio, Pennslvania and New Mexico during August, sponsored by Turning Point Action and featuring Kari Lake, Blake Masters and Ron Desantis will give MAGA audiences a chance for a head to head comparison.
TGP has an article on the rallys, with a link to advance ticket sign up.
I urge all who can to attend, and hope RSBN will be broadcasting. Its gonna be,…interesting!
Desantis will probably have to stay home……..
Florida will need their governor because of the hurricane ……….
What hurricane you ask?……….
He will build up the afternoon squall line into a .5 category storm….
Florida is an important state and DeSantis is good for Florida … his in the future goals are irrelevant at this time.
My hope … DeSantis knew about the FBI raid – there is ZERO way he didn’t – and warned Trump to get out of the house.
Of course he knew and you may be right.
The same as Kari Lake.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/08/08/as-a-citizen-of-florida-ron-desantis-calls-fbi-mar-a-lago-raid-another-escalation/#more-236299
Talk about the proper role of states’ rights, the unwarranted hostile intusion into his state without notice, to raid an iconic club and violate the privacy of an ex-president?
Just ridiculous.
The “silence is violence” mantra the left uses except DeSantis wasn’t silent.
Practically silent. I guess you think us calling out a weak, pathetic response accompanied by zero action is ridiculous?
His state was invaded but he had no angry response.
Bacon rules! heh…
I think the FBI has declared that patch to be extreme terrorism-related. lol
He wasn’t silent! DeSantis has been a great governor. Judge whatever you like.
I hate to repeat this because it’s all throughout the comments section, but …….
DeSantis issued a single tweet. From his personal twitter account, not his Governor account. He called this horrific act an “escalation”. He didn’t even mention Trump’s name!
DeSantis built his base from Trump’s base. Without Trump’s endorsement DeSantis probably would have lost the Florida Governor election in 2018. He barely won! And now Talking Point USA is advertising DeSantis as “America’s Governor” (huh?) and they will be parading around several states to rally for Trump-endorsed candidates, clearly preparing DeSantis for a 2024 run. But to my knowledge Trump has not declined to run and I won’t accept DeSantis running if Trump does.
And I wouldn’t trust Charlie Kirk as far as I could throw him.
DeSantis like Rubio, Haley, Cruz, Noem, Pompeo, is not independently wealthy (with FU Money).
therefore he is, unfortunately, controlled by donors and special interests.
I think this is exactly it. DeSantis cannot afford to be attacked the way Trump has been attacked, and I get it. But that means he likely cannot be full-bore MAGA like Trump is.
Forwarded this to my distro list. One of the folks in FL responded with the below:
“Hogwash. As a Republican and a Floridian, I can tell you and all that Governor DeSantis has been on media, email, and social media denouncing this politically motivated attack as not just an attack on President Trump but on all Americans because it threatens us individually and as a society. He has also called into question adding 80,000+ armed IRS special agents. I agree on all accounts. Think about this, why isn’t the national MSM reporting it? Why is Facebook, Twitter, etc. blocking this? There is a political reason for the left. ”
He expresses a different opinion.
Thoughts?
I went here:
https://www.flgov.com/
And see nothing. The governor has complete control over that content. He chooses.
I live in Floridah and heard nothing, but Jan. 6 is where he should have taken a stand – instead he instructed the RPOF to stand down. No one from the party went to DC to support the President. He received no help lawyering up from Florida, Not even Pam Bondi ran to his rescue. DeSantis has been in FOX’s pocket since his run for Senate which he was told to jump out for Rubio and he quickly did. Don’t forget he voted for Boehner as a freshman Representative and TPP.
Thank you, SD, for using the phrase that DeSantis “is NOT YET the weapon”. Not all of us are able to jump into a world-class fray well-armed and fully informed.
The plus attributed to DeSantis, that he’s a good man to run a state with a non-hostile legislature, is also one good reason why he is not yet ready to play at Trump’s level.
Our 45 cut his teeth dealing, with success after success, in one of the biggest, most corrupt local economies in the world: New York City commercial real estate development, with its permitting and subcontracting hurdles.
To date, DeSantis has been playing in the Double-A minors.
This observation is independent of whatever control the GOPe has over Ron.
I see the DeSantis fans are upset that Sundance and others are pointing out the reality of the guy.
It reminds me of the Jeff Sessions arguments. I was here when people were arguing about Sessions, perhaps one big difference is that the Sessions’ fan base was much larger and acted like total bullies, shouting down anyone who questioned Sessions’ loyalty to Trump. And then the worst thing happened. So thank you DeSantis fans for just being frustrated and not obnoxious.
Interesting that Turning Point Action has announced a series of events, starting in Az, they are “Unite And Win” rallys featuring Kari Lake, Blake Masters and,…Ron DeSantis!
This tour includes the event in Az, as well as events in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Mexico all in August. It must have been planned for some time,..BEFORE recent events at MAL.
How will Ron DeSantis explain his inaction to the Raid?
How will he ‘make his case’ to a rabid MAGA crowd, very much focused on the raid?
How will he look, with a ‘head to head’ onstage comparison between KL and himself?
Will he aquit himself, or bury himself?
Will this truly be a “Unite and Win” rally, or expose DeSantis as a faux Maga charlatan?
I don’t see much acceptance, in MAGA for the “lets put our differences behind us after the primaries, and vote for the R, to beat the D” and the unity of purpose of MAGA has only been further stoked and refined by this raid.
Like the steal, this raid further seperates and identifies “the wheat from the chaff” and R’s who did not immediately and wholehearted condemn it, who either gave weak statements or hid, can not be “johnie come latelys” and repair the damage done, IMHO.
Its going to be fascinating to see how this plays out, over the next month, also going to be interesting to see the ATTENDANCE for these rallies; how much of a “draw” can these MAGA Stars but not Trump attract?
Specifically, can they attract something close to the yuge attendance PDJT does, indicating long term health of the movement?
He’s leveraging Trump to start his 2024 Presidential campaign.
I noticed that someone advertising one of these rallies said it was going to be so huge they needed a bigger venue. These people are shameless plagiarists.
I just hope Kari Lake doesn’t get sucked into this new scheme. Obviously she’s going to be at the Arizona rally because she still has to win the general election and exposure is good. If she’s travelling to other states to participate in the other TPUSA rallies, then I’m going to ask Sundance if I can borrow his suspicious cat picture.
Day #4, hiding in the bunker.
I agree with Sundance. For a while I’ve have known for all that is very good about DeSantos, I know something was “off”. I chalked it up to hi slack for foreign trade experience, when treepers were suggesting he be 2024 candidate.
But, I still had a ‘gut’ feeling something was “off”. I just didn’t know what it was.
For me, red flag: never supporting 45 by name.
The RAID is the defining, unavoidable, red line that he just couldn’t cross.
Wish I could remember who commented on social media on 8/9/2022 – day after the RAID – that DeSan was going to some state to campaign with candidates. You know, the candidates 45 has endorsed?
Another red flag.
We need a non-DC VP in 2024.
We have to let him go as a national candidate. We can’t accept another Pense. The job is too big for him too handle in the way it has to be done.
Glad to read this. Wish a body language expert would dissect his speech. I thought AG looked deflated.
sorry. wrong thread.
As Chief Executive of FL, it is highly unlikely he didn’t know the raid was coming. If he did know, then we know he didn’t act like the guy we’re supposed to believe he is and put a stop to it. If he knew and really is our guy, there should have been a shoulder to shoulder line of FL State Troopers backed up by a legion of FL sheriff deputies deputized for the occasion in battle armor blocking the way. But if he knew and did nothing and allowed this travesty to happen? Hmm. Not wanting to face the question, “What did you know and when did you know it?” would be a damned good reason to suddenly disappear for days after this failure of leadership.
Or, DeSantis knew nothing in advance. Then, where the hell is perhaps the future president for the last two days who should be screaming bloody murder AS the Governor of FL kicking the fascist FBI out of FL?
I hope this is his Kristi Noem moment when he gets the message that he really does have to face down fascism if he’s going to lead the fight for freedom or he’s just a better brand of squishy politician whose words are ultimately meaningless as he lines his pockets.
Something doesn’t smell right with our boy DeSantis this time. He’s young, ambitious, and human. Let’s hope he just screwed up, learns from this, and really stands by what comes out of his mouth. Otherwise, I’m going to believe my lying eyes about how DeSantis behaves, and this time, he doesn’t look good.
What if DeSantis, et al, were told to stand down on the issue because the timing isn’t right?
I can only accept it if it was Trump who asked him to do it.
What are the odds DeSantis cooperated with the Feds?
Is it possible that the man is ambitious enough to wish Trump out of the way so he can run for President himself? Or does he just follow his donors directions?
Politics is a dirty business, people tend to forget that.
Chris Christie used to be a popular governor, too, and he made a mistake by refusing to run in 2012 when he had a chance to be nominated.
I hate to think that DeSantis is evil, but his flaccid response to the raid is extremely discomforting.
As I have mentioned before, DeSantis’ base is largely from Trump’s base. Didn’t DeSantis consider that many or most Trump supporters would find his tweet completely lacking? Does he care? Is he trying to satisfy the wishes of donors and he doesn’t care about us?
Yeah, we still don’t have a heartbeat bill nor Constitutional Carry .
We were not one of the seven states that didn’t shut down, despite the re-write of history.
But we do have red flag laws, age to purchase firearms at 21, the largest budget in the states history (even on a per capita basis), HB1 and now, whatever you do, don’t turn your truck radio up to loud…it’s illegal.
So freeeeeee!

Ivy leagues, JAG corps, career at white shoe firms, and then politics. Yeah, Ron’s MAGA…🙄
Was this a political instinct to not support a probable rival?
DeSantis went on Twittter and said,
“The raid of MAL (Mar-a-Lago) is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis tweeted, referring to the president’s son. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”
Did anyone see the DeSantis for President ad on TV last night? RUN WITH RON? RON-2024?
For President or for Florida Governor? Because he’s running for FL Governor right now.
Or was it an ad put out by the Ready for Ron PAC?
I can’t believe the number of people in here that will fall for anything. Ask yourself why is conservative media and the hill is spoon feeding us desantis and not trump anymore…because they have their patsy boy and most of us are eating it up. Unless Flynn tells me he’s better than trump, I’m not buying it. Wake up and stop acting like rinos are going to help us like trump will
Has anyone compiled a list of those who did not hide in the shadows?
I’d like to see who is willing to stand up for President Trump and by proxy for US.
People forget that without Trump’s support in 2018, DeSantis – who won by a margin of .4% – would not be governor of FL. The fact that DeSantis is hiding now and not backing up Trump 100% (which imho, makes him COMPLICIT in this abuse of power), is all you have to know about his character. He is almost as bad as Romney. He was a RINO before becoming Governor, and nothing has changed.
Trust nobody. Even Trump (and he has earned my trust more than just about anyone). I don’t trust Sundance fully (yet I trust him more than any other media outlet).
We should trust no one fully, yet we must unite in a way that we restore the republic and law and order. Odds are slim, and our founders were worried even as the ink was still wet on the Constitution.
This is why the morality, and moral fiber of the country is more important than who holds office. That, my friends is something that we can all highly influence locally in our families, churches, schools, neighborhood. Until we unite around a common un-negotiable truth, that is easily recognized, we will continue to slide
The Truth (capital T) should be undeniably recognizable in our tracks, in our speech and writings. It should be sharp enough to divide in a clear visible way good from evil, the hearts of men. That is where each individual has the greatest opportunity for investment in the future of this country: Seek to know the Author of Truth, to know the Truth, and to carry the message.
