Kentucky republican House member Thomas Massie had some interesting statistics in hand when questioning Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg about the administration goal to make electric vehicles 50% of all cars, vans and trucks sold by 2030.
Essentially, it is a cart and horse scenario. An electric vehicle requires five times as much energy production as the standard home air conditioning cost. The U.S. electricity grid cannot support an increase in household energy use that is equivalent of adding five times as many houses using air conditioning. Math is math. WATCH:
.
Comrades, the likely federal government solution is simple. Comrade citizens can have one electric car (mandated by regulatory compliance), or they can have their home air conditioned, but they cannot have both. [Assuming social credit scores are high enough]
See how easy that is?
...”the significant problems we face are only as challenging as the significance of the problem.”
As millions are seeing, these people are stupid and nuts!
Zero idea what common sense is.
Stupid looking keeps you from killing them in rage defense.
if they looked directly purposeful in this – the mobs would eat them.
its an act – and once they accomplish their goal, it wont matter how many of us thought they were stupid – we will be dead or dealing with a death.
They have a different definition of common sense…
Common sense does not exist in their world.
No but mass pain and suffering does. Not for them, of course.
Never for them. Pain and suffering on their part is beneath them.
Not all of them are stupid. They have their plan to tie us all to electric vehicles which will limit our range and independence.
That is IF and when the grid is sufficient to recharge at the times we are allowed access.
Which will be few and far between.
Insane and evil.
Notice:. We will be asking for your patience in this matter as we will have no electric power this Mon-Fri between Midnight and 6:00 am. Your understanding will be patriotic !
That will escalate to no power beween 6 pm to 6 am M-F and absolutely none on weekends and holidays.
We peasants will be ever so grateful for the wee portion of electricity generously alloted to us by government.
Folks won’t have the ability to use cars
Eventually they wont have cars.
Rep. Massie didn’t even touch on the HUGE problem that is being created with these goals.
Electric vehicles are mostly going to be plugged in to recharge overnight. At NIGHT, when it’s DARK (no sun) and when WINDS tend to be lower in most coastal areas (reminder – the vast majority of the U.S. population lives within 100 miles of its coastlines.
The Green Screaming Left wants solar and wind power to be the Grand Solution to offset fossil fuel burning electric power generation plants. There isn’t enough battery capacity in ANY practical solar backup battery bank that homeowners can afford of even fit into their garages to power the overnight recharging of one electric vehicle much less two vehicles.
So public high power generation is still going to be required and as Rep. Massie put it, at least double what is currently available and more likely 4 to 10 times what is currently available.
These Green Screamers are deluded and living in a fantasy world. They should not be anywhere close to those making public policy. Let them come back when there is proven reliable technology to create and store electric energy in sufficient amounts to accommodate their goals.
Dude ….. just plug the car into the wall , thats where electricty comes from
I have great news!
Current bush seeds are now available. Plant the seed, water, and poof!! all the power you need, just plug in any time necessary. Call 555-1212 and ask for the Current Bush Outlet Store. /S
and if you get in the car you can cool off on it’s air conditioner – have your cake and eat it too!
in fact if you pull the car into the house itself you can cool the whole house down by just running it’s air conditioner with the windows rolled down!
don’t laugh, it WILL happen!
I’m good , I have several plastic bags filled with gas ………..
/sarcasm/ – do not put gasoline in ziplock bags !
Lots of gas bags in DC if you run short.
Too bad electric cars don’t put out exhaust, could have some Darwin awards style cleaning up of the gene pool, right there!
EVs DO put out exhaust….just not from a tailpipe on the vehicle
I suppose constant exposure while driving to whatever the car batteries emit will eventually be found to cause cancer in lethal doses.
Another win for the population reductionists!
The exhaust is from the power plant making the electricity that comes out of the wall outlet, as well as all the pollution that goes into mining the metals for the batteries (batteries that will have to be replaced if you keep the car long enough).
Desperately needed in DC! New Gene pool!
Waiting for the first suicidal Tesla owner to pull into the garage, close the door, and let the car idle ….
Then the batteries will overheat and explode in a fiery end. A bit more painful than slowly sucking in carbon monoxide.
Oh my. Whatever happened to the “Racist roads?”
Thst is, when we are allowed to have electricity in between the regularly scheduled, and lengthy, blackouts to come.
Who are the hags seated behind Butti boy?
I guess none of them got the KETO memo.
Buttgigs mindless minders.
Dunno, but they look like they are coming off heroin.
A cherry-picked group of progressive voters.
makes sense, limiting our movement (one electric car, with the on/off swithc operated on social credit) and providing us with daily needs (white bags of food delivered via Amazon like services) should keep us from biting their hand. But they have to do it from the savior position and not the taker position.
thats the narrative battle they are in – trying to appear as the savior of these problems, and not the maker of them.
Communists always create the crisis so they can solve it, and always at the expense of some liberty.
And Never NEVER actually SOLVE the problem!
The Sec of Transportation actually said:
‘Some of this gets out of my lane’ 🙂
If he can’t stay in his lane, then it’s time to pull him over and administer a horizontal gaze nystagmus test on him.
Chasten might reposition Pete, back where he belongs.
“What, me worry?”
Exactly.
There is never any intention to increase the grid capacity, but rather to reduce it.
The whole point in every western country is so people have no independent transport or freedom of movement.
Good grief, its so obvious.
Yes, indeed. I have been boring people stiff with this for about twenty years. The obvious is starting to dawn in the oblivious.
Massie: MIT Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Built his own house out of field stone. Put in a repurposed Tesla battery to run his off grid solar after his lead acid batteries were worn out. But even with that background he had to consult on Midnite Solar Charge Controller programing.
He filmed his build on youtube.
One word synopsis: Genius.
On the other hand… Mayor Pete Buttgig (or however you spell it).
Thank you for the information. Massie is so smart, most people don’t know who he is, and if they do, they don’t understand how lucky we are to have Massie as an elected representative.
Very impressive — both extremely tough majors! He is also a big time supporter of the Second Amendment.
How can this guy remain polite and respectful when dealing with the imbeciles he is required to conduct business with?
He was more than polite and respectful. He was deferential, almost genuflecting to get approval of his green bona fides. No, green technology isn’t some marvelous thing he should be be paying obeisance to.
Great Christmas card!
But Mayor Pete is a gen-u-wine Rhodes Scholar!
Off the Grid with Thomas Massie
35 1/2 minute video.
Smartest person in D.C.
Beautiful observation. He’s one of the sane ones, to smart for the dumbasses in his chamber. Can you imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with them all the time?
Now, Amash was also bright, but arrogant as hell, I’m glad he’s gone.
Buttigieg is an imbecile. We can’t be behind other countries in our rate of adoption? Like whom? Like whom? Which countries?
And no one is discussing the elephant in the room. Our electrical grid is powered by coal and gas. Just getting people to switch to an electric car doesn’t reduce fossil fuels- they are still dependent of fossil fuels you just don’t see it with your eyeballs. It’s the dumbest argument of all. And producing EV cars not only requires fossil fuels for mining, excavation and manufacturing from different parts in the world its wildly inefficient and anti-eco considering you have to then assemble all of those parts (after China makes out like a bandit). The most environmentally friendly plan is sourcing fossil fuels locally AND producing cars locally (some parts maybe nearby like Mexico). But this would bring costs down and the grifters wouldn’t be getting their kickbacks then.
We are living in the age of Idiocracy where we ship environmentally unfriendly practices abroad, and pretend they aren’t happening because we don’t see them with our own eyes. It’s incredible!
They are not imbeciles. They are crushing society without any meaningful opposition, control all the institutions and the EVs are another brick in your upcoming slavery.
You are correct of course. The ideas are evil and they plan on reducing all of our comforts to control us. But the minions up front, like Buttigieg, are stupid.
Can’t disagree with that. You need retards up front who are prepared to stand up and mouth the most imbecilic lines without shame.
Yes, they always leave out a ton of variables. Exogenous variables. They use LCOE (levelized Cost of Energy) to compare between various fuels (Natural Gas, Nuclear, Coal, and their fantasy dreams of Solar and Wind).
But the egregious variable, is, they do an IRR (Internal Rate of Return calculation) which can give you a bad return analysis 5 different ways instead of NPV (Net Present Value) which should always be used.
And, that is before you calculate the production variability of intermittent systems in finance — unlike conventional fuels.
The costs and infrastructure are beyond imagination to get the grid to run off intermittent generations sources and storage.
It would take hundreds if not thousands of times the number of mines to source the materials.
In a few words: Bankruptcy, hyperinflation, and starving in the cold and dark winter.
Renewables have a place, but, it is offgrid like Congressman Massie, outerspace, and, selective grid placement.
“In a few words: Bankruptcy, hyperinflation, and starving in the cold and dark winter.”
They gave themselves measurable, attainable goals. Success stories! /s
I missed the announcement. When was Buttboy promoted to imbecile?
Well, thats how they tie us up in knots, discussing the minutia of how many ways their ‘plans’ don’t make sense, instead of just saying “Because its STUPID!,….next?”
And while we are tearing it apart with logics and facts, they are generating their NEXT false narrative, that contains emotional triggers for some subset of the population that will then propogate and maintain it.
Yes, thank you. Massie should have been in his face about how worthless this technology is and the massive harm it is causing. Green energy other than nuclear will never be competitive with fossil fuels. Not in 10 years, not in 50 years. Never. So quit subsidizing it.
Oil is not from fossils.
Do a search on Oil on Titan and lots of other places in space.
Its a lie to make it seem scarce.
I wouldn’t label nuclear energy as “green”. There’s this thing called radioactive waste, a byproduct of nuclear energy.
Yep. Progressive goal number one is to generate a steady stream of attacks on “normal” people, so that we are on the defensive 24/7 and never have time to advance our own ideas.
El Rushbo pointed this out frequently, lamenting how he got up in the morning ready to create something fresh new and positive – only to read the overnight news and end up spending his day defending conservatism from the latest leftist fusillade.
When has anyone ever see an idea or project EVER turn out as promised. They are all wet dreams. Like PDJT said, everything a liberal touches turns to shit…and it’s consistent.
<Buttigieg is an imbecile…>
Yes…he said he saves energy by always backing in 🙂
“Our electrical grid is powered by coal and gas.”
Coal, gas, and NUCLEAR.
🚗 have air conditioning and heat. Most seats recline, so there’s no need for beds .
Communal bath houses with monitored flushing and shower 💦 will service the other needs.
Crickets don’t need refrigeration.
/s
And the kids can shower with trannies – it’s a win for everyone!
You paint a dismal picture!!
Just as my dad claimed to have walked uphill to school and back, I drive downhill to work and back.
I don’t see what the problem is.
Did your dad go to MC Escher high school?
ISWYDT, Cedartown.
And how many of us could afford to pay for the electricity to charge these vehicles besides the exorbitant cost of the vehicles themselves and the cost to replace their batteries? Plus the carbon footprint used to produce these vehicles is rarely discussed. It’s not so green!
I did not know Ford made an EV Fusion but there is a story of a couple buying a used 2012 one for $11,000….after several months they started having mechanical difficulties….took it to a shop for diagnosis…..needs a new battery for $14,000 PLUS installation cost
And the batteries for that vehicle are no longer made/available! SOL ~ 🙀
Same thing is happening on a smaller scale with electric lawn tools. Ryobi rolled out a powerful electric turbo leaf blower at a $400 price point. I planned on buying one this year … but it’s been discontinued. And so are the unique batteries it takes. For the guy that DID buy one and needs a new battery: Tough luck, sucker.
“Same thing is happening on a smaller scale with electric lawn tools.”
batteries will continue to be better with new technology.
But,
the old ones will always be toxic waste that fill up our landfills..
and ,
The charging system with old batteries will destroy new battery types,
so, the chargers become toxic waste…. trash..
Phones,drills,laptops,flashlights,toys,mp3 players,etc.
….it all becomes EXPENSIVE toxic trash that ends up in our landfills,
…. Which then becomes toxic land.
So,
It’s a LARGE SCALE problem for anyone to claim batteries are green energy.
There’s a whole new industry of independent battery makers who make and/or rebuild lithium-ion batteries for hybrids and EVs using new cells and improved components. I used Greentec (closest to my home), but we also live near Canada, where there are other companies doing this.
If a vehicle model sells well or is sufficiently beloved, there are usually small start-ups to fill the demand for parts and supplies. If I still owned my ‘74 VW Super Beetle, I would be able to buy new parts.
Either that’s a phony story, or the shop is run by thieves. There was no Fusion EV. They are/were “HEVs”, a gas-electric version and a plug-in hybrid called the Energi. Batteries for all the Fusion hybrids are definitely still rebuilt by Greentec and other independent battery manufacturers. Yes, the batteries come with warranties. They cost about $2400. Dealerships can get them as well, but will charge twice that amount for the same item.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Fusion_Hybrid
https://www.greentecauto.com/product-tag/ford-fusion-hybrid-battery
I personally prefer non-plug-in hybrids, since you never need an outlet and they do save on gas. Our 2007 Honda Civic hybrid (bought new for $23k) has 200k miles on it, still gets 40mpg and runs great with no maintenance beyond gas/oil/fluids and tires. We replaced the hybrid battery three years ago for about $2k which included installation. When this car eventually does start costing a lot to maintain, I will definitely consider another hybrid of this type, though I might buy used (saves at least 35%). The Asian-made hybrids are just plain better. They cost less, work longer and those companies began exploring hybrid tech much earlier than the US car makers.
EVs and other plug-ins aren’t cost-effective yet. If they were, I might consider purchase. I can do the math.
“What, me worry?”
They will force us to shrink into the amount of energy and food they allow us.
The problem going forward is a lack of stability. Trump will win and put us back on petro-based energy independence. Then some leftist knucklehead will get in and shove us back into chaos. Rinse. Repeat.
A nation is NOT supposed to operate this way…nor can it fit long.
Trump may want to come back , they wont let it happen. They go scorched Earth first.
Don’t bog down with nitpicking and focus on the CONCEPT.
THE POINT REMAINS.
For not fit.
So Thomas Massie is bullish on electrifying the mobility part of our society? Then he is just as much a jack ass as Edwin E. Newman. Where in the hell do we find these people. We can point fingers at Buttigieg all we want, as the idiot he is, he’s deserving of it. However, again the wolf in sheep’s clothes is Mr. Massie. I’ll bet my bottom dollar he’s so bullish on this technology that he and his family are prepared for the investments targeted at said industry. What he should have been asking Buttigieg is who in the hell is Mr. Biden or any one else signing executive orders telling us what we can or cannot purchase in a free market society. We now accept that the president can with the strike of pen dictate what 50% of the entire automotive industry does. What Mr. Massie is doing is implicitly accepting the bullshit argument about global warming and carbon foot prints. He’s yet another snake in the grass and a ignorant one at that. I’ve said this before. You find anything that fits in the size of a 1 gallon gas can, that’s as easily and efficiently produced as that 1 gallon of gas, same weight, same everything that can propel a car 70 mph’s for 30 miles –then sign me up, I’ll buy into it. It all about the energy yield per unit of mass. Gasoline is by far the best energy source for mass automotive transit, hands down. Believe you me, Mr. Massie is a fool! And so is Buttigieg. Once again, we thought we had party that is counter weight to the Communist called Democrats. But all we have is the Massie’s that simply appear to be doing as a favor. Massie is not the opposition party. He’s just riding behind Buttigieg’s electric truck with a very long rope, hoping you don’t see him riding along.
Things don’t get mentioned in the Massie conversation, like, say you are on a trip and need to recharge you battery . Gas stations currently have people in and out every 10-15 minutes. Where will everybody park while charging. Are stations going to buy up more acreage? No, of course not.
Where will the heaps of used up batteries go, where will mining take place? Already the Philippines are complaining about losing rainforest to strip mining metals for batteries. They won’t be the only ones.
In short, electric transportation is a long ways away( time wise) from having any chance of viability. I suspect it will never be viable.
Meanwhile, Obama buys two homes oceanfront, Kerry flys around in his private jet, and India along with China continue to pollute more every day, while Biden stuffs us back in idiotic deals like the Paris climate stupidity.
You honestly can’t make this stuff up.
IF Trump runs again and wins , I suspect even more sheep will become aware of what is going on. Educating such sheep( in pretty good numbers) is his biggest accomplishment from his first term. He stirred up the embers. My hope is a second term will get a blaze of enlightenment going regards the swamp.
Americans are feeling the pain when they get their utility bills this year. Massie went for the sore spot then prompted Mayor Pete to display how important he thinks it is to inflict even more pain to (allegedly) try to reach unreachable goals.
Massie had limited time. He used it well.
When you can replenish a vehicle almost depleted of its energy, in 5-10 minutes max, let me know.
I think you mean Alfred E. Newman….he is a character from the Mad magazine of years of old with the expression “What me worry?”….Sec. Pete is a dead ringer
Yes, typing too fast. But, you know he looks a little like Edwin Newman as well.
There has been zero evidence, nor input available online, that Alfred E Newman had a husband.
Rep Matt Gaetz refers to Rep Thomas Massie as the smartest person in congress.
Darn straight!
Sorry Sherri, Massie is an idiot. Please read my post. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Ask yourself why is he bullish on this technology? If that is not a loaded statement to the Nth degree, then I don’t know what is. Bullish on what may I ask, why is he bullish on it? in what form and/or where does this ‘technology’ he speaks of lead us. What he is actually saying in this discussion with Mr. Idiot — is that “Hey I’m all for electrifying the auto industry, lets go for it, but we gotta make sure we have the power plants and production mechanisms”. Well if that’s going to the argument from the opposition party, then we’re screwed. They’ve thrown in towel and your driving a piece of crap electric car and paying thru the nose for it.
Massie is a conservative Republican with strong libertarian leanings similar to Rand Paul and Ron Paul.
I’d happily vote for him if I lived in his district. His issues are small government and common sense.
I strongly agree. Having an education is not the same thing as being smart.
But I do hope he was smart enough to put that battery somewhere where it won’t burn down his house.
I watched a bunch of physics and chemistry profs whine and moan when their community banned Styrofoam cups. Because of CFCs, they had to either wash mugs or drink cold coffee as they manned their weeks long experiments. The banned cups were made locally, and nary a smart person actually bothered to check. The company didn’t use CFCs in the manufacture.
But I have to admit, that I didn’t have the smarts to realize that I shouldn’t call them on it. It was a ‘Righteous Cause’. No way were they ever going to admit they were wrong. The zealots very quickly changed the subject to saving the landfills.
His battery is in a stone enclosure attached to his stone house. But, I do worry. Those Tesla batteries to my eye have
capton as an insulator. Capton caused many aircraft electrical fires.
Most like Congressman Massie run repurposed batteries without the liquid cooling systems. But, they charge and discharge at much lower rates than cars. Still a worry as lithium Iron Phosphate is much less volatile than NMC Tesla batteries. And once they ignite they provide their own oxygen. And the fumes are deadly toxic.
I think his enclosure is safe enough. You can watch his build on youtube. He did it himself.
Kentucky Republican House member Thomas Massie used math to prove the Democrats policies are nuts.
Now, here comes the cancel coulture.
Democrats can’t defend their policy bottom line, HIGH inflation and HIGH gas prices’.
and,
Their heads explode when citizens think they have a right to carry guns .
so,
The dems will attack the truth teller’s personality or character.
I see this played out every day.
…….It’s not working ….
…………You can only sell this crap for so long!!!!
Watch what he has innovated for decades at his own home, and with his fish and livestock, and then tell us Rep. Massie is not one of the best and brightest around.
When a Congressman simply passes over the fact that the president with the swipe of pen can dictate 50% of the vehicle fleet in this country. When he begins this conversation with ‘I’m bullish on the technology’. Then sure if you think he’s smart than that’s great. However I personally wouldn’t put much trust in him to be truly opposing the tyranny that’s coming down the pipeline called the green new deal. His argument was essentially accepting the electrification of our society, simply debating how are we going to achieve the energy grid to get there. Prove me wrong otherwise. He should have been singing the praises of petroleum products, nuclear energy and a free market society that enjoys the freedoms to purchase any type of car they want. Instead he’s simply bypassing the fact that now Washington DC dictates what we drive. Crazy.
Its interesting how people have accepted that government can decide so much as to their choices. A rejection of the premise that it is within the remit to decide on entire industry direction and future should be the default.
Who the hell are you to decide this for me?
This should be the starting position.
Now, you’re criticizing a Kentucky Republican House member for something he didn’t say.
Hmm,
Rep Thomas Massie said,
‘I’m bullish on the technology’ ‘’
So what..
He clearly said WE should not be forced by BIDEN to buy electric cars.
“ The U.S. electricity grid cannot support an increase in household energy.”
Math is raciss
Take it easy on Butedgedge. His nipples are still sore from nursing his non-biological baby.
maybe he borrowed DeNiro’s nipple gizmo from “Meet the Fockers”
I’m sure Buttgigi has a plan to use pixie dust and unicorn farts to generate the extra electrical energy, as wind and solar have flunked the feasibility studies.
The guy looks just like Alfred E. Newman.
His idiot twin.
VIVA 🇲🇽 MEXICO!!!
CUT THE CORD!!!
As Neil Oliver from Britain, and others have pointed out: the ultimate Progressive goal is not to transition us to EV’s (otherwise they’d be all over expansion of the electric grid and electric generation through nuclear) — it is to transition the plebes (the vast majority of us) into multifamily urban hells serviced by public transportation, because plebes won’t have the financial resources to afford personal transportation.
Absolutely and again, say it at the top of my lungs. There’s Mr. Massie essentially on the same band wagon and Mr. Buttigieg. Mr. Massie and Buttigieg are simply two sides of the same coin. Both eventually lead us to the same place.
If they think they are getting my suburban, they have another think coming.
This dog don’t hunt…The people will rise up and over-throw them.
Better be soon.
Very soon!
I have hooked up charging stations for friends – each quick charger requires a 50 amp circuit.
When the car is charging for 3 or 4 hours it is a straight 35 to 40 amps for 3 hours…
The man questioning Alfred was being generous…A clothes dryer uses a 30 amp circuit – but it does not require 30 amps to run- it cycles off and on (heat element) nor does a refridge or central AC – they also cycle off and on when the compressor kicks in – the wattage or amps drawn is cut dramatically when the compressor is off – an in-ground pool pump is a different story – that requires 25 amps for the given time its running unless you have one that is variable speed pump – most pool pumps are 1hp requiring lots of electric – never mind having an electric heater for the pool.
The more electric required at any given time requires a fuel source. AC current is created and the problem is it is not stored the power plants have to run if you are using them are not – it all about demand – and if you have an electric car – and mot americans work for 9 to 5 – there will be a huge draw in each time zone after 5 – people are not going to stay up to 2 am to do the wash – start the dishwasher and the AC after the car charges….
All this will require larger plant generators requiring tons of fuel as much as 50% more when demand is at peak
Not to mention transmission infrastructure, from power lines to transformers.
Current infrastructure simply can’t handle the juice even if the utilities could provide it.
Wonder if a mass depopulation event would make the math work?
Only if that event included elimination of privately owned vehicles.
EV or otherwise.
Even bicycles may be scarce.
We will walk and use what public transportation might be available and like it!
I’d say ride a horse but horses produce a lot of methane.
Horse manure is great for the garden.
So, the grid augmented by “new technology” today cannot keep up with just the growing household needs. By 2030, the grid will have to cover a full magnitude+ increase in Household needs alone, while in parallel the government’s policy is to remove ALL the fossil fuel and nuclear sources that currently are the basis of our energy grid, generating over 2/3 of our energy today.
Also, having worked in commercial industry where environmental impacts are required … has anybody done an environmental impact study on the “new technologies”. Those studies were required to be cradle to grave studies, including sustainment while in use. Batteries and Semi-Conductors include some of the most dangerous materials made in terms of pollution.
No but my state “Hawaii” just designated used solar panels as “universal waste” which makes it a bit easier to dispose of, but they they are still “hazardous waste” that needs special handling.
In theory you have your rooftop solar and Tesla battery wall to charge your EV. But as they say, “In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice they aren’t”.
The way things are going now, the vast majority will have no car, no air conditioning, no heat, and little to eat.
‘You will own NOTHING, and you will LIKE it!”
That is the end game.
Always the plan. But you can be assured the rich and connected will still eat expensive meats and fly in private jets to sprawling resorts and mansions.
John Kerry, when questioned by a daring reporterette as he boarded his private jet enroute to a climate conference: “People like me need to get where we are going quickly”. Rid the world of the critters like Kerry who consider themselves SPESHUL, and the rest of us will enjoy easy sailing.
catapult.
They always exempt themselves from the pain and suffering they inflict on the masses.
Think “Elysium” (the movie):
Of coarse insisting that “math is math” is rassscccciiist,…math can be anything,…it wants to be, and when it declares, you better use the correct pronoun!/s
Yeah, Massie scored some points, and got out some important numbers.
That limiting the questions is to enable them to create soundbites, and it works.
Mr. Mom wants to put charging stations next to gas pumps..
LOL…..what could go wrong?….LOL /s
Ah, the ever present unintended consequences.
They can dream on because this will never happen. I would bet these corruptocrats are heavily invested in the very products they are trying to ram down our throats. We pay through the nose right into their pockets with this legislation.
Follow the money.
They could care less about climate change. We so need a purge!
Our electric bills will triple.
They will more than triple. The cost per kwh might triple, but then you will be running much more kwh in a billing period and you will be paying closer to 5 times as much.
ButtEdgeEdge another degenerate liar who the Republicons didn’t stop…
Prep – get seriously stocked up on food, water, generators, fuel, grill, charcoal, wood stoves, fire pit, etc.
And if you should have any extra to help people out, think long and hard about who you help. If someone voted for Democrats or believes in “climate change,” or was a NeverTrump Republican, don’t waste your extra on them as they are going to get exactly what they deserve.
The Republicans will save us
From what, pray tell?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!
I watched the show where Rep Massie’s home, with all the brilliant innovations he has created there to save energy, were shown. He is an amazingly innovative thinker and has been so for a long time, a creative wonder and not to be dismissed by the inferior mind of Buttigieg. Massie deals in facts and numbers, while Buttigieg deals in fantasy and what sounds good but dies not work, in reality.
This admin official says there won’t be a problem “if we prepare” for the consequences of adopting such utopian goals, but there is no evidence that they have a realistic plan before they set the goals. He says they are in talks with the energy department, but that doesn’t mean they have a plan or they would have laid it out for discussion by Congress. This is all blatherskate to cover up the lack of any realism in their goals.
Talks in DC last for decades. 2030 is kinda close in real time, Mister Buttgiggles.
I can imagine Pete coming home after this appearance, stripping down then putting on a long tee shirt, where he goes to the couch with a glass of white wine, smiling to his husband, kissing those babies or is it baby?…then gazing at that man with hungry eyes yet remembering he has to go out into the garage and plug in his charger, losing the mood he had.
Pete lost getting charged…but America still has the stick beating on her from these oh so smooth talkers who spout fairy dust words all the while Pete is licking his lips, knowing that the night is coming and perhaps he will…
These people are trying to tell America how to live our lives, they do not represent our wishes one bit.
Pretty soon all of us will be 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 in our EVs.
If we are fortunate to even have them.
.. and in 2030, where does the fuel come from run that generator??
That’s a $40,000 BMW.
EV charging runs the gamut of power requirements, ranging from 3.3 kW to 17.2 kW.
At 3.3 kW, you get 2 to 4 miles of range per hour of charging (15 A, 115V charger, 20 hrs to full charge) . At 11.5 to 17.2 kW, you get 10 miles to 52 miles of range per hour of charging ( 48 A to 72 Amps at 240 VAC, 3.5 hrs 5 hrs to full charge ) .

A 4 ton A/C condensing unit draws about 24 Amps at 240 VAC. Breaker size is 40 Amp. Running power is about 5.8 kW.
So, “Maybe” you could replace your A/C with a Tesla 11.5 kW charger, but you still need to wire a dedicated 50 A, 240 V , receptacle to it.
But. A/C systems cycle on and off some 2 to 4 times per hour and operate for 15-30 mins per cycle. The Tesla chargers are “Full Time”, which means the average Grid Load is going to be twice as much in terms of power requirements. Your home power panel could handle the load, but the distribution grid and generation may not. The local transformers probably won’t have the capacity to supply this much power to all connected customers if all have EV chargers unless they stagger their charging times or rebuild/rewire/replace the entire grid. That means rewiring 427,000 miles of power lines and who knows how many substations, transformers, switch gear, etc, . Best estimate is 10 Trillion to 40 Trillion dollars and about 100 years.
Your graphic (comparing an empowered moron who sports plastic refillable boobs to a national icon) is a grave insult to Alfred E. Neuman and Norman Mingo.
How does such a pervert walk around without getting beaten. let alone be a public figure with such child abusive behavior?
Speaking of “cart before horse” scenarios: Massachusetts Governor, Deval”ue” Patrick promoted a land based wind energy agenda in the same fashion back in the early 2000’s (2004 or so). All permits issued have been found to have been approved based upon serious errors, omissions and misrepresentation of fact. A scandal for the ages which should be settled by RICO suit.
Backing into desired conclusions is how our government has been, and is currently, operated.
Just last week a local wind power plant was demolished with fossil fuel backhoes and other machinery…WHY? Because it was deemed a public health Nuisance… upon commissioning neighbors were pounded by excessive and invasive noise, vibrations and strobing.
Boondoggle for the ages – much like I expect the electric vehicle agenda will be.
So basically we have 8 years to quadruple our electric infrastructure. Shouldn’t be a problem with the application of some magical thinking and a little fairy dust mixed in. Don’t worry, Pete’s got this!
After 100’s of billions of dollar’s spent and a decade to do it, most of the rural flyover states still do not have reliable high speed internet. The same will happen if and when Congress decides to increase the size of the electrical grid.
Yeah we’re still waiting for our “high speed internet” here on the farm. Been told it’s in the works (for the last 8 years) (we must be getting close)
Maybe they really are planning on culling two thirds of us
2 cars for avg. household is not a fact either, most probably have 3-4 minimum. So the energy usage would be far higher than stated.
Kinda like projected budget costs for government projects😂
My husband and I are retired and are getting a little taste of owning an electric vehicle. Several years ago we bought an electric golf cart from a neighbor who was moving away. Owning this small electric vehicle has been an eye-opening experience. Keeping it charged, remembering to charge it, calculating how far we can travel between charges, planning errands in our very small community, etc has been very stressful. We’ve had to be pushed home twice by our helpful neighbors!
I can’t imagine having a family, a job, and an electric vehicle. The changes in lifestyle these electric vehicles require is mind-boggling.
Electric golf carts ( I have one myself) are handy in my neigborhood and a lot of them are used to tool around visiting neighbors, going to the pool etc. They should be able to go around 5-7 miles between charges, but I always have mine plugged in when not in use. I want nothing to do with an electric vehicle and won’t buy one
He started like GOP politicians typically do, conceding that dems have the moral high ground. I didn’t need to hear him try to get this clown’s approval by saying he’s driven an electric car for 10 years and has solar panels. Let’s quit apologizing for using fossil fuels. Oil company CEOs act like they are embarrassed to work there and always steer the conversation to their green initiatives. Why don’t we just state facts–wind and solar will never be viable compared to fossil fuels, and electric cars are worse for the environment than regular cars. Quit acting like these people are morally superior.
All new Federal car purchases should be Natural Gas.
Abundant. Clean. And reduces gas consumption nationally, while boosting LNG.
LNG > electric fantasy
To use a common local saying from Maine, “Can’t there from here, bub”.
Might not be as big cities in Maine like farther south, but we still know a few things. Still some the salt of the earth types to be found away from some of the tourist spots.
There is nothing about Pete Buttigieg that doesn’t disgust me. He’s an incompetent POS who got his job solely because he’s gay. He doesn’t deserve 1/10th of his salary.
What about those people who have no garage? Who park in lots ( condo/apt.) or have on street parking only? Are we supposed to figure out a way to drag an electric cord to our cars? Or pay a neighbor who has a garage? Or just suck it up and hit up a charging station?
They will ride the bus, the bicycle, or the shoe leather express. It’s for the common good, don’tcha know.
Many insurance companies will not allow an EV to be charged inside a residential garage due to fire hazards.
Germany will not allow any EV to be parked in an underground or otherwise enclosed space due to fire hazards.
Apartment/Condo dwellers are kind of screwed. There’s no way the power supply to the building can carry double or triple the design capacity to serve EV chargers. Maybe 4 or 5 chargers in a common area, but that’s it.
The faster a Lithium battery is charged, the more prone it is to catching fire and the battery life shortens. Fun facts of Physics.
Oil produces 6,000 other items in use by our society. Now that Buttigieg has offered his solution for one of those items. I am in the mood for hearing his solution on the remaining 5,999 items.
Remember those calendars that set on your desk with a new joke for every day. Buttigieg, could have kept me entertained for 16 years.
“Invent” a national crisis and cease power… Republicans to roll over and play dead.
They arent playing…..they ARE dead.
Spiritually dead might be a bit more precise, seeming as how they’ve sold their souls (and the Nation out) for money, power, etc.
A Faustian bargain, and that will not end well for them all when the devil comes around to collect his dues.
